This modern hotel enjoys great views over Santander Bay, and is just 1,150 feet from the unspoiled beach of Somo. It is surrounded by gardens and green fields.
Set in the area of Ribamontán al Mar, Cantabria, the Alemar looks out over a fantastic natural landscape which includes the 5 mile-long beaches of Loredo, Somo and Puntal. This coastline is popular for surfing, sailing and paragliding. The Royal Golf Club of Pedreña is right next to the hotel and the regional capital of Santander is just a 12 miles drive away. Inland you will find the beautiful mountainous Cabárceno nature park.

Reviews for Alemar

Review 1:No English of the hotel staff at all - we didn't understand each other much. Toilet was very small with no place for legs.

Review 2:Nice location - huge playa nearby. Superb water quality + Waves Quiet town of Somo very near to Santander Boat transport to Santander every 30 mins + by bus every hour (costs are 2,70 vs 2,05 EUR)

Review 3:Room sound isolation is very poor so grab a pair of earplugs orheadphones if you don't sleep well at night and be prepared to hearall sorts of things from rooms above and below! I mean everything! :)the breakfast is nice but very dry.

Review 4:This hotel is a gem on the corner of Somo. A walking distance to theSomo center, supermarket, shops, and beach. It is extremely clean andcomfortable. Staff don't speak English but are very polite andcommunicate, google translate app is highly encouraged. You get twotoasts, a croissant, a not very tasty cupcake, and a super tasty buttercake plus cofee and orange juice. Coffee and orange juice taste awesomeby the way. Fruites are also available. You can easily get board of thebrrakfast so I encourage the hotel management to add some cheese, baconor Spanish Salam, and egg to the breakfast. Please please please :) thehotel feels nice, some awesome super jet showers combined with the oldstyle luxury of this hotel which feels way more than 3 stars. You cansee beautiful paintings in corridors and rooms. Rooms are cleaned andserviced daily up to Hyatt and Ritz standards!!! :)

Review 5:very poor breakfast

Review 6:Very basic but well clean and recently decorated. We were allowed to park our motorbike in the garage. Overall a very good experience.

Review 7:Proprietor could have been cheerier but did advise where to get good evening meal.

Review 8:easily found. very clean and spacious room. excellent view from room. Good continental breakfast. Very good value.

Review 9:1. The big problem is absence of any choice for breakfast. If you book a room for several nights and have your breakfast included into the room fee, get prepared for the same breakfast every morning, which is buns, toasts and croissant every morning! Thus, if you stay for 7 nights in this hotel, you will definitely be overweight after having 7 breakfasts there :) 2. Nobody speaks and actually does not want to speak English. Even a simple information exchange turns into a real theatre play with your hands and gesture in action :))

Review 10:Friendly stuff, thorough room cleaning and towels changing every day, quite convenient location (10-15-minute walk to the Somo beach).

Review 11:I stayed at the Alemar for 11 nights and found the owner and his family very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was served up punctually every morning and the room was kept spotless. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach, the location is ideal for the beach and ferry link to Santander.Excellent value for money!!!!

Review 12:Is a bit of a walk up a hill outside of main Somo town - only about 5 minutes, but when you've been surfing is a pain. Also means lots of walking back and forth to shops and restaurants.

Review 13:Good staff, good breakfast, comfortable room, clean, helpful, good internet everywhere. Garage to store surfboard and wetsuite

Review 14:very friendly staff, a short walk from a very nice and clean beach, comfortable and quiet room, parking

Review 15:The whole staff were very helpful and careing, nothing was too much trouble for them. The Hotel was very comfortable and spotless clean.

Review 16:NOTHING

Review 17:Staff was so helpful and generous! They did everything they could to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I've traveled throughout Europe and the Americas and this was THE best Hotel I have stayed in!

Review 18:Very clean rooms, breakfast was great and plentiful, a few minutes walk from the sea. Alejandro and his family have always been helpful, friendly and nice.

Review 19:I was shown several rooms and all were good but the beds although comfortable were on metal frames a bit like camp beds. Did not affect the comfort and slept well...

Review 20:The staff are extremely helpful -I don't speak Spanish but they still made me feel welcome and even gave me a lift back down the short hill into town when I would happily walked. They did a fantastic job of cleaning and tidying each day. Very impressed.

Review 21:Breakfast was not full of variety.

Review 22:Near to Somo beach. Almost centralised location to start exploringCantabria from. Hotel personnel gave great tips too!

Review 23:Has to be one of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed at. A lovely family owned and run hotel. A great location not too far from the beach. Excellent breakfast, great service. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 24:The nearest supermarket didn't open at all.on Sundays and there areno.vendingachines or bar/coffee facilities in the hotel so I wouldadvise others to stock up on snacks! Ite location was ideal by the beachbut to get to Santander you need to take a ferry. From the map I thoughtit was close enough from Santander to take a taxi. Wrong! It cost me€35! There is not enough to do in Somo to.stay more than a few dayswithout being bored... Unless you can surf!

Review 25:Its location is perfect if you want to stay by the beach. The hotelstaff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Large, luxuriousprivate bathrooms and not.too noisy. I could see the sea from my bedroomand bathroom windows.

Review 26:Rooms clean and spacious. We had one with view to Santander -very pleasant. Staff did not speak any English but made every effort to understand and were very helpful.

Review 27:Having to ring the door bell every time we wanted to come in. It was secure but I felt I was inconveniencing the staff. (They didn't think so )

Review 28:Helpfulness of staff. My computer wouldn't connect to wi-fi so the staff loaned me one of theirs

Review 29:Ok, owner couldnt speak english, basic breakfast despite what otherreviews say, no wi-fi, although I was allowed to put my motorbike intheir underground garage which was appreciated.

Review 30:Friendly, helpful, relaxed environment. Close to Santander which is a most pleasant city. excellent price/quality ratio.

Review 31:There wasn't wi-fi in my room, i had to go to the dining room.

Review 32:Location is great, the staff is very friendly, rooms are clean.

Review 33:Clean room andgood stay

Review 34:Very close to the beach, quiet and reliable. Friendly staff always here to help
