Reviews for El Mudayyan

Review 1:Easy to find and the staff were very friendly. Room was very spacious and peaceful and clean. The bed was also very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent - overall I can rate this hotel as excellent value for money.

Review 2:Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Owner very proud of their heritage and history - they have their own secret medieval tunnel underneath their hotel where priests used to smuggle women and alike to their rooms. Ask the proprietress and she'll love to take you on a free tour to the secret tunnels.

Review 3:The staff were friendly and helpful except for the receptionist who appeared bored and who was not welcoming.

Review 4:The location was excellent, the hotel clean and modern. The subterranean tour was interesting!

Review 5:Car parking was expensive because I could not make the hotel ticket work at the entrance. There was no privacy with the bathroom in our room - it was behind a wall but there was no solid door!

Review 6:Very friendly staff, excellent location, a hotel with lots of character, comfortable room.

Review 7:Not convinced that toilets/bathrooms with clear glass exterior are going to be everyones cup of tea! A minor point but a strange design decision nevertheless.

Review 8:Very well situated in the town centre. Staff particularly welcoming and helpful.

Review 9:The girl at reception was so helpful and went out of way to show us and give extra help of the surrounding area. The area had so much history and was an unexpected treat. Loved it so much. Well done.

Review 10:Beatiful architecture and ongoing restoration work. Lots to see and do with great cafes and tapas bars, all offering a warm welcome. Super centrally located hotel with knowledgable, helpful staff.

Review 11:The bedside lights on one side did not work but, as we were already in bed, we couldn't be bothered informing reception. The day we left the lift broke down and the trek down from the fourth floor was a bit of a nuisance.

Review 12:Great value for money. The location is excellent and the breakfast, included in the price, was very good except, perhaps, for the hot stuff which didn't look very appetizing. The rest was excellent.

Review 13:Only the fridge making a noise , so we unplugged it. Resulted in a good nights sleep.

Review 14:Close to restaurants and historic parts of the city, which we discovered early in the morning before we left on the next part of our journey.

Review 15:The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We were even given a tour of the underground tunnels in the hotel that went to the nearby tower - fascinating.

Review 16:Everything! Would have expected to pay twice as much as we did as travel a lot business and pleasure .Staff were lovely, food top class room spacious with views of the beautiful blue sea. Will definitely stay again

Review 17:The room and decent size shower particularly

Review 18:No Car parking

Review 19:They tailor made our breakfast as my wife is a vegetarian and took us on a week tour of a recently discovered tunnel underneath the hotel.

Review 20:Lovely family run hotel in great location in Teruel. Close to train station and close to old town. The owners and staff are very friendly and went out of their way to help us when we had to cancel a hotel booking in albarracin due to the bus not running on the day. Would highly recommend this place for a warm and friendly atmosphere and a comfortable stay in a lovely little town.

Review 21:A small tea making facility would have been perfect. Not a big thing hut I do like a cup of tea as soon as I wake up.

Review 22:Staff very attentive. Could not have been more helpful and friendly

Review 23:The wi-fi was poor when we stayed last year and was just as bad this time. The information in the rooms about how to connect to wi-fi is different from what reception give you, but either way I still could not get wi-fi to work in our room.

Review 24:Great location, nice rooms, great breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 25:The only downside was the air conditioning which seemed to have stopped during the night (it was in the 30s that day!).

Review 26:Beautiful hotel. Great prices. Very nice staff. Overall great.

Review 27:Unloading the cases from the car resulted in a unpleasant arm waving episode with a bus driver waiting for me to move. The Ac was a problem and having the window open was not an option.

Review 28:The staff and the room were good. Lots of atmosphere in this small hotel.

Review 29:Nothing bad.

Review 30:Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is self service but the staff encouraged us to try different things, some of which were home made and excellent. They were also very keen to show us a tunnel which used to run from the building to the nearby church. The location is excellent for access to the town centre. We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 31:The bed linen needed replacing, cover holed. Curtains needed to be hung properly, hairdryer hose was held together with cellotape and the metal outside shower surround needed a good clean. This was by no means one of the cheapest hotels in the area and overall I do not think it was good value for money.

Review 32:The location of the hotel was ideal and the staff, especially the receptionist, were extremely helpful. They spoke good English and an added bonus was seeing the underground tunnels from the hotel to the church The breakfast was good, not excellent, and included pastries made by the owner. The breakfast room was in a modern style as was the coffee area and clean. However did not go with the decor of the hotel bedrooms.

Review 33:The Internet was very 'clunky' and difficult to use.

Review 34:Fantastic location, right in the heart of the centre of the old town, a short walk to the town square. We were taken on the most interesting visit to the medieval tunnel. The staff were knowledgable and enthusiastic and demonstrated a love of the city and its history. Very good breakfast, not just cakes and pastries, good value for money. Nice room, not over large but adequate in size, nice decor, good clean well appointed bathroom.

Review 35:Lift and stairs to the rooms are in the bar on the ground floor.

Review 36:-Architectural aspests of the hotel are just wonderful, even to the details. (I'm an architect...) -Conveniently located if you travel by train. Just take the lift to the left of neo-mudejar stairs to the old town, and you're a few steps from the hotel entrance. -Amazingly well-functioned window which never woke me up until the morning. (Minimum temperature was four degree centigrate below zero.) -After wlking around more than two hundred cities in Europe, I do recommend the city of Teruel to everybody. Excellent local foods, well-preserved mudejar-style buildings, extremely kind and helpful residents, and a lot more.

Review 37:No English language broadcasts on room TV.

Review 38:Easy to find with underground parking 2 mins walk away (15 euros daily). Hotel recently refurbished with high quality fittings throughout. Top quality towels. Excellent breakfast for only 5 euros. The manageress feeds you homebaked pastries and other delicacies to top up the breakfast and gave us a little parcel of them as a farewell gift for our journey. Shortly after our arrival, the beautiful Alexandra approached us to tell us about Teruel and the hotel. She then showed us the historic tunnels beneath the hotel which were fabulous. Attached to the hotel is a moorish-style cafe with cellar extension, where we drank mint tea, served in moorish-style teapot and cups accompanied by homebaked pastries.

Review 39:Odd bathroom, very modern and smart but it was behind the bed with glass panels high in the partition wall so that there was a bright light in the night in the bedroom if you had to go to the bathroom!

Review 40:Immaculate small hotel in centre of historic town, rooms and public areas newly refurbished. And very helpful and friendly staff when I had problems with my phone.

Review 41:Slightly noisy due to building works next door - but this was nothing to do with the hotel Wi-fi could have been faster and connecting took a few times (I should have mentioned this to the hotel owner and I am sure they would have helped me but I didn't, so my fault really!)

Review 42:Friendly family run hotel Great location for exploring Teruel Inexpensive with nice breakfast Nice clean and comfortable room Interesting hotel history with underground tunnel to local church!

Review 43:Nothing!

Review 44:Really nice little hotel with very friendly and helpful owners. Nice room with comfortable bed, good shower, fridge. Lovely breakfast with bread, ham, cheese, home made pastries. Excellent central location

Review 45:No on-site parking but this was not a big deal as large public parking near by (and also on-street parking close).

Review 46:Family run by extremely helpful team (with mother and daughter 'front of house). They genuinely wanted you to get the most out of your stay. Excellent location. Small, clean, unpretentious hotel. In addition to 'normal' breakfast items, some delicious home-made items made by the lady of the house.

Review 47:Small room, a little tired . Price quite high for the facilities. No bath. Breakfast was nice but very home made and no allowance for non Spanish tastes. No lounge etc.

Review 48:Location is great. Air conditioning let us sleep well. Beds were good. Some mudayyan atmosphere. Friendly family owners. Bathroom was fine.

Review 49:Price too high. poor breakfast, very small room, a bit tired looking. Personell did not speak any english and did not offer any information about the area. The lady guided us through the tunnels, which was interesting. A/C right beside bed, uncomfortable. Cannot understand all the good reviews this place has got from others! !

Review 74:Great location, clean and stylish room, friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Review 75:Knowledgeable and friendly staff New comfortable and well appointed hotel

Review 76:The bathroom although very modern lacked privacy. Only separated from the bedroom by a glass partition.

Review 77:Nothing was bad, it was all good.

Review 78:The staff were helpful.

Review 79:Good small hotel with friendly staff, excellent breakfast, perfect location

Review 80:Being woken up by church bells at 7am!

Review 82:Only downsize was the noise of the local bus that ran right past the hotel.

Review 83:Location and the lovely staff.

Review 84:Everything was excellent. Real value for money. Bright room, super breakfast, very kind people, great hospitality. A 10 out of 10.

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Staff excellent, Anna very helpful , food home cooked loved our stay and we are returning highly recommend this hotel

Review 87:Everything, familie run hotel. They couldn't do enough. Central location. Everything was great. Many thanks xxx

Review 88:The location of the hotel in Teruel.

Review 89:Lack of public space in lobby area.

Review 90:Home made pastries at breakfast. Extremely central location. Friendly and attentive staff.

Review 91:Owners and staff very friendly. Excellent breakfast with homemade pastries.

Review 92:The internet is overly complicated; can only use one device at a time and the systems kicks you off repeatedly. The room was a little noisy because there's a bar area just around the corner and the soundproofing is not the best. Other posts complain about parking; we actually found it quite easy - you can pull up right at the bottom of the street to unload (maybe 10 meters from the hotel entrance) and then park for free down the hill in front of the train station; there's even an elevator to take you back.

Review 93:The family which runs this hotel is as warm and welcoming as they come - especially the always clearly son Rocha (?) and his sweet mother. The breakfast is wonderful and filling. The tunnel to the nearby church and it's history are cool - don't miss it. Teruel is a hidden gem well worth a day's exploration.

Review 94:rooms are a little small but very nicely decorated. the city itself is a bit limited, but this is not the fault of the hotel. Free parking is a 10 min walk away.

Review 95:amazing breakfast, owner is lovely, under the hotel are medieval tunnels (a must see), hotel is bang in the middle of town.

Review 96:Charm, comfort, convenience, hospitality--what's not to like? This is a small hotel so don't look for ballrooms and fitness facilities. What you get instead is a wonderful sense of place--and Teruel is a stunningly rewarding place to visit. Further, larger establishments could learn a lot from these hotel hosts whose single aim seems to be to provide the best of everything they do provide.

Review 97:Nothing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review 98:Fantastic location right next to the central square. The hotel has real personality and the owner is a delight. The room was very comfortable and had everything we could wish for from air con, iron and fridge to a fantastic shower and stylish bathroom. It even had a little balcony overlooking the street but the windows were virtually soundproof when closed. Breakfast was large, full of local produce and largely homemade. Delicious.

Review 99:We had a room on the first floor which was very noisy because it was directly above the cafe and the noise came straight up the stairs from the cafe. The noise was awful until about 12.30--1am! There was also construction work in the building next door which started at 7.30am on the Saturday morning. Would avoid a room on the first floor and rooms 1, 3, 5 or 7 as they back on to the building next door.

Review 100:Well situated, friendly kind staff, clean comfortable room, amazing bathroom, amazing breakfast. The owner is a lovely friendly helpful lady, made us feel very welcome and was keen to take us on a tour of the tunnels under the hotel even providing us with the information in English on laminated sheets of paper very helpful and fascinating.

Review 101:Some local temporary building work noise in the morning, but not the fault of the hotel.

Review 102:Very friendly family run hotel, especially the lady owner who spoke reasonable English. Good Continental breakfast including pastries made by the owner. Very interesting tour of the ancient cellar & tunnels.

Review 103:The walls are thin and the street noise as well as the noise from rooms next to you is loud. Bring earplugs to sleep at night.

Review 104:The sweetest family owns and operates this hotel. It's cozy and a homemade breakfast is included in the room rate. Ask for the tour of "caves" the hotel is built on top of...it's fascinating. The shower pressure is great and the bathroom is decent sized. The decor is lacking, but very comfortable. It is perfectly located in the center of the adorable town of Teruel.

Review 105:As the hotel is in the centre of the old quarter there is no parking atthe hotel. Public parking costs 15 euros per day. The street outside wasnoisy with revellers the night we stayed.

Review 106:A small hotel with rooms beautifully decorated in the Mudejar styletypical of Teruel. Large modern bathroom. A warm welcome and friendlyservice from the owner and staff. Homemade products for breakfast.

Review 107:Building work on the adjacent building was noisy from 8am but this is a temporary issue.

Review 108:Made to feel very welcome, lovely quaint room and great location

Review 109:The hotel is central to this lovely old town and full of character. The staff are friendly and helpful, particularly the owner who couldn't do enough for us. There is a tunnel leading from the hotel, which in the days when the priest lived there led to the nearby church. The breakfast is very good and sufficient to last you through the day. The owner cooks pastries herself, which are lovely. She gave us a small parcel of them to take with us when we left.

Review 110:No parking/garage on site & the nearest public car park was a 10 minute walk away & cost E15 a day - very expensive!!

Review 111:Location Friendly staff/owners

Review 112:You park in a nearby (600m) public car park - no problem but a bit pricey at € 15.40 a day.

Review 113:I had misgivings when we first got to this highly unusual hotel - it's only got 8 rooms - 2 per floor - but actually we loved our (2-night) stay. The hostess is really welcoming, and loves to show you the underground tunnel running from the hotel basement under the church next door. It has a small teteria/bar, and is located only 100m from the main square and is therefore in the midst of the wonderful old Mudejar buildings.

Review 114:Expensive parking away from hotel at 15 Euros per night.

Review 115:Very comfortable bed. Large towels. Friendly owner showed us the tunnels beneath the hotel. Central location. Very good breakfast.

Review 116:a small hotel with small room which was quite dark. Our room looked out onto the flats opposite so no view and a problem with opening the curtains. I could only stay overnight

Review 117:family run, very friendly and very helpful. An interesting town with some of the original tunnel under the hotel but low ceiling and some beautiful buildings

Review 118:The owners of the El Mudayyan were very gracious. The tour of the passageways beneath the hotel and town were fascinating. They made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was exceptional.

Review 119:What's not to like?

Review 120:A small family run hotel with all the good things that implies.Nicely themed.Lovely people.Excellent breakfast with home baking.BONUS.-a secret passage and a guided tour by your delightful hostess. And inexpensive.Garage two minutes away-easy in and out.

Review 121:The location, the historic interest of the building, they even do a private tour to show the underground galleries. The homemade breakfast and the friendly owners.
