Reviews for Parador de Ubeda

Review 1:Although we didn't have the buffet breakfast, we went to have a look at it and it looked very disappointing for the price, so we passed on that option.

Review 2:Hotel is situated in a great area and the hotel itself is lovely, with a particularly nice courtyard.

Review 3:It's a lovely hotel but it's starting to look a little tired. I think some updates would be beneficial to give that extra flavour of luxury that we associate with Paradores.

Review 4:Principally the location and the historic value of the former palace. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Review 5:We only noticed upon arrival that we had to drive around to approach the hotel by car. The entry were a somewhat high to carry luggage and there was no porter/help.

Review 6:Perfect spot in the very midst of the old city where singing birds awake you! A good restaurant with considerable winecard.

Review 7:We arrived tired and immediately were offered an upgrade to a suite, at much greater expense. We took it, stupidly and unnecessarily. Felt we were taken advantage of somewhat.

Review 8:Beautiful building, historical significance

Review 9:The food was excellent but is served in a rather cramped and stuffy restaurant area - when it could be served in the spectacular renaissance patio at the centre of the hotel. This patio has tables and chairs but is almost always empty.

Review 10:Stunning location and beautifully poointed inside, like all Paradores

Review 11:Our room was right on the square. At 10:00 p.m. there was a lot of activity outside. Being a light sleeper it was not a good situation. Off site parking

Review 12:The hotel was very historic. While the décor was older, it was tastefully done and gave you the feeling of being in the past. The location was very good. We found a great pizza shop that had the best salad we had in Spain.

Review 13:No possibility to come close to the entrance by car, which, in fact, is not a big problem: the nearest parking place is located in 10 minutes walk.

Review 14:Located in historic center, very close to "mirador" near the wall with a scenic views of olive fields. Nicely furnished and decorated inside. Comfortable rooms and facilities.

Review 15:None

Review 16:The Parador is in a beautiful building and the furnishings are refined and comfortable. Service is excellent and our room had a wonderful big balcony and huge bathroom.

Review 17:Front desk disinterested and offhand. They agreed to post 10 postcards (sent on 9 December) and thus far (7 Jan) not one has arrived in the UK. The lady in the bar downstairs was very friendly and obliging, as was the lady at breakfast.

Review 18:Historic building, cleanliness of room, excellent bathroom, quiet location

Review 19:We had to wait past the check-in time for our room. We stayed in the addition, not the actual parador (maybe we would have had to pay more for that).

Review 20:Historical building.

Review 21:The bedroom whilst spacious was a little tired and in need of updating/ refurbishment.

Review 22:Great location in the heart of the world heritage site. A great location for a wedding as witnessed by two such weddings during our stay. Very friendly staff and a good restaurant.

Review 23:Staff were not freindly and actually abrupt at checkout. Could use tea/coffee making facilities in room or common area

Review 24:Room lovely and location excellent

Review 25:The price. Compared to other hotels we went to, this parador is way too expensive for the service provided and the room we got. Our room was very dark even when the curtains were open. Also we felt like a four stars hotel should provide services like a terrace or a pool.

Review 26:Its location in Ubeda's center, the building is charming.

Review 27:- That our GPS took us through the winding roads of the old city, didn't know about construction, and down a street in which we had only an inch on each side to spare - if that! There is a ring road on which it is very easy to get to the parking area. Wish we had known. That all restaurants close between 4 pm and about 7:30 - 8 pm. Need to plan ahead if you're not on the Spanish schedule yet.

Review 28:- The charm of the place. - That parking was nearby - and free. - Clean, comfortable, spacious room. - Comfy beds. - Huge staircases. etc. etc.

Review 29:Room 137 is not good. Right next to a loud external machine. Wi-Fi is a bit variable.

Review 30:Location is perfect for Ubeda. Great ambience throughout the hotel. Rooms are decent, with a fabulous bathroom. Staff formal but helpful. Easy to find if arriving by car.

Review 31:On this, my third visit to this parador, I was disappointed by the dustiness of the inner courtyard and it's furnishings.

Review 32:One of a number of magnificent buildings in a plaza still retaining the historic aura. All staff members were pleasant and extremely helpful.

Review 33:No in-room tea/coffee facility and the hairdryer model was antique and slow.

Review 34:Location was excellent and our room was spacious with two balconies.

Review 35:Beautiful building, lovely big room, gorgeous courtyard. Great breakfast.

Review 36:The people

Review 37:We loved everything about the Parador

Review 38:Loved History

Review 39:The room was very dark

Review 40:Spectacular setting. Beautiful building

Review 41:Breakfast

Review 42:location and history of the Parador

Review 43:Location

Review 44:Kitchen closure and room service stopping at 4.30 even for snack. This is a 4* hotel man!

Review 45:The original features

Review 46:Not able to park car at hotel.

Review 47:The building which was historical.

Review 48:Mnone

Review 49:Staff friendly. Good food

Review 50:No coffee maker in room

Review 51:Location, facilities, history of building

Review 52:Excellent cuisine

Review 53:Parking facilities far away

Review 54:Splendid Renaissance Architecture Situated in the middle of the ancient town

Review 55:The restaurant had modern decor and the food was disappointingly bland

Review 56:none

Review 57:very good place.

Review 58:Breakfast was a bit expensive

Review 59:The wonderful location

Review 60:Nothing...there is no parking, but is normal in main square of historical unesco center

Review 61:Palace, location, staff, food

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:Fantastic location - lovely town - excellent food and drink

Review 64:very poor signposting to find the posada( only one on the outskirts of Ubeda which we missed. Parking not possible at hotel so we had to drag our luggage through the street. Staff failed to offer to move our baggage to our room so we had to do so ourselves. The reception staff spent more time gossiping among themselves than offering information. In the dining room, though the food was good, the waitress was rushing us by taking plates away before the we had finished, giving the impression she was eager to go home, and was then rude when we asked her not to rush us. generally the staff seemed complacent.

Review 65:The location and facilities were good.

Review 66:- rather hard to drive to the hotel - limited public parking in the area

Review 67:- place within Ubeda - great palace-setting - good breakfast in geat restaurant

Review 68:Afternoon, check-in staff was not helpful. More signs should be posted in the town. We had a very challenging time finding the parador by car.

Review 69:The check-out staff was very pleasant, even left area behind desk to offer to carry my suitcase down the stairs to the plaza. The setting/facility was beautiful and very clean All restaurant staff were very attentive and well-trained.

Review 70:Waiter disappeared with half bottle of Cava and we had to chase staff to pour the remainder. Apparently,he waiter had gone home without telling his replacement of the situation. The waiter should have left the bottle in a cooler on our table.

Review 71:Location Ambiente

Review 72:Paradors are not cheap.

Review 73:Everything. Ubeda is small jewel of reinassance. And the pearl in the crown is parador. It's not the main place of interest in Spain, but is worth visit.

Review 74:In winter There needs to be a warming wood fire and good lighting in the small residents Lounge to entice guests to read, relax, warm up and drink a glass or two of Rioja.

Review 75:Set in the renaissance old town the parador is beautifully situated. The magnificent room 105 enjoyed probably the most glorious dawn and dusk chorus I have ever heard from birds sheltering in the Cyprus trees.

Review 76:We had great difficulty in finding the parador - perhaps because of on over-reliance on a faulty Google map late at night. Not really the hotel's fault!

Review 77:As with all parador's, a great location. Good (if brief) explanation of the history of the parador and the city in a series of panels in the courtyard. Excellent restaurant with local dishes; good, friendly service.

Review 78:Nothing, I had a very nice stay

Review 79:Unlike at some other Paradors (I have to say this) all of the staff (reception, cleaning and catering) were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is elegant, delightfully historical and eminently located. If you are going to stay in one Parador in Spain this is probably the one. It´s well worth the extra price

Review 80:The limited dinner menu: two fish courses and two meat courses, but only one of the meat courses was available (the same problem both days we stayed there). The single room had only a small window, letting in very little light; the only view a wall and a pitched roof full av birds' dirt.

Review 81:The excellent breakfast. The locality of the hotel in the middle of a Renaissance town.

Review 82:As advised in a another review we asked for a room with large windows and got a fabulous room. The hotel is well located and easy to find. Staff were good, breakfast great and everything was perfect! Well worth the extra cost associated with staying in a paradore!

Review 83:Dinner at 34 euros for 3 courses did not live up to its description in the menu. The food was bland and tasteless and we were extremely disappointed. We stayed 2 nights half board and would not reccommend this option however the buffet breakfast was good and varied.

Review 84:The parador is a beautiful building in a prime location. The staff are polite and friendly. The rooms are excellent.

Review 85:The extra bed for the 3rd adult was not worth it. Very old sofa bed, wobbled and felt unstable.

Review 86:It was all very nice, very spacious room (and that was even with a deal price), quiet and easy to find.

Review 87:The location of the hotel, and all the lovely historical buildings. The locals are all very friendly. The hotel itself is a beautiful building, very ornate and the rooms were very clean, spacious and very welcoming.

Review 88:Bathroom not a 4*, restaurant over priced and no character. Ubeda was very dirty with dog pooh all over the place so you had to watch your step all the time.

Review 89:Lovely reception areas

Review 90:Loved it all. It was a slurge for me as a budget traveler, but it was worthwhile. Beautiful building and nice food. I wish that I did not have to rush off in the morning and could have had a more leisurely breakfast.

Review 91:Was a bit obsolete. A ''refresh'' would be welcome. Staff nice but lay back. Restaurant overstated, very ordinary.

Review 92:Very nice location. Interesting building

Review 93:We booked a normal double room, but received an upgrade when checkingin. Very charming hotel in a small city where there is lots to see.Dinner was good (we selected the 'parador museo menu', make sure to behungry), breakfast was excellent.

Review 94:The location in Ubeda is excellent, central to everything. The facility is very picturesque and comfortable. The service in the restaurant was very skilled and friendly, especially the waiter who served our table for dinner and again the next morning for breakfast.

Review 95:Great location- a beautiful building in a lovely old town. Highly recommend the tasting menu which is delicious and fantastic value. Good service, comfortable rooms and a good place to stay.

Review 96:Too many stuffy upper class Brits staying there

Review 97:It was the first time that we have stayed in a Parador in Spain and have previously been put off both by their prices and location generally outside of the city. The "special offer" here was £60/the one night we stayed in the historic centre of Ubeda. It was excellent and we hope to repeat the exercise somewhere else.

Review 98:The bed was hard. The shower was dangerous - slippery. The toilet seatwas loose. We were bitten by mosquitos in bed each night. The mirror inthe bedroom was too high and the dressing table was too small. The WiFiwas very slow. The English translations in leaflets were amateurish -like from Chinese to English in an electrical gadget

Review 99:The entrance foyer. The building and its position

Review 100:Of the five Paradors that I've visited, this one was the least "special." Yes, it is in a nice building with a nice courtyard, the rooms are large, etc, but it isn't a castle or a fortress or a super modern building. So I would not recommend it for those wanting a "special" Parador experience.

Review 101:Fantastic location, big rooms, and wonderful beds and linens.

Review 102:Too bad breakfast was not included in the price.

Review 103:The historical context is really great. You can feel history breathingthrough the entire building. The parador is very centrally located andthe atmosphere in that area is great. I enjoyed our room; it was big andnicely furnished. Not cheap ( 185 Euros without breakfast) but a niceplace to stay for one night.

Review 104:Wifi was poor.

Review 105:Beautiful hotel and lovely spacious room.

Review 106:Looked a bit tired and not easy to find!

Review 107:A central but a little austere and cold place. Staff not very friendly

Review 108:loved, loved, loved the location and the feel of the Parador in Ubeda

Review 109:Like in many paradors the room facilities need updating.

Review 110:Location in square with many historical buildings, large room, beautifully old building.

Review 111:Car parking was not close by.

Review 112:Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful location and impressive interior.

Review 113:nothing worth commenting on - great place

Review 114:the ambiance and the location in a memorable, historic city

Review 115:location nice experience

Review 116:Parking could be difficult in warmer months

Review 117:Lovely rooms with lots of character

Review 118:Beds very hard Aircon control difficult Need more indicators to find parador

Review 119:Meals + service good Bar service very friendly Location excellent

Review 120:Staff is incredibly helpful!

Review 121:Perfect 16th century building used as a hotel. Fantastic location, great food and perfect service.

Review 122:The restaurant - the food was awful, the service was public sector and the prices were too high

Review 123:The central location

Review 124:Difficult to find in the city of Ubeda.

Review 125:Wonderful building, rooms and surroundings.Very good breakfast.

Review 126:We loved the large cool bedroom, super comfortable big bed, bathroom facilities. Warm welcome, friendly staff. Thank you.

Review 127:Poor road signaling to reach the parador.

Review 128:Luxurious but quiet ambiance. Lovely site in old, well preserved medieval town.

Review 129:Large Room Well furnished Free parking nearby
