Reviews for Hotel Huerta Honda
Review 1:Having breakfast served in the public cafeteria rather than in a dining room.
Review 2:This hotel us right in the heart of Zafra with a view of the castle from our terrace. The outside terrace is sunny. The interior of the hotel is delightfully furnished with unusual pieces. A very good position for visiting Zafra or on an overnight stay en route. Good car parking and easy access from major roads. Spacious and well pointed room.
Review 3:WiFi didn't reach our room, we had to go out into the corridor to get a signal. The breakfast would benefit by being a buffet.
Review 4:Private secure parking, well situated in a lovely buzzy little town. Excellent bars and restaurants nearby. Comfy room with good facilites
Review 5:The double bed was extremely creaky to the point of ridiculousness I was told all their double beds are like this! We changed to a twin room with excellent beds but this had poor air conditioning and lighting that was so hot the room never really cooled down. Then there was referred base driven music from their function in the basement until 3.30a.m, noise from the street as guests left or continued partying outside and then bottle recycling - so in short little sleep. As I had paid for a superior room and requested quiet this wasn't a great experience. Wifi in the hotel was extremely slow in all the areas we tried so as to be unusable.
Review 6:This hotel is situated next to the parador and the historic centre and has a very secure and convenient garage. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The courtyard was lovely and our drinks, food and garage costs reasonably priced.
Review 7:Room was small and badly designed with many sharp corners on furnishings. Shower tray was extremely slippery and drain was blocked and smelly. Nasty drain smells were in the wardrobe.
Review 8:Garage was good. Décor of ground floor was excellent.
Review 9:Great location next to the Parador. Nice bar and restaurant. Very attractive hotel with internal courtyards. Underground car park with elevator very useful although a bit challenging to park.
Review 10:Hotel had a wedding reception that used all of ground floor and central courtyard. Very noisy No apology was offered to hotel guests for disruption and disturbance..
Review 11:Reception clerk helpful in arranging parking. Hotel has special tokens that allow 24 hr parking at street meters.
Review 12:breakfast was really disappointing.we got only bread with cheese or jam, no other options, no buffet. we needed to pay 6€ for a sandwich with bacon, on top of the breakfast-fee.
Review 13:Staff used initiative and changed our room on return journey. There was going to be a disco and we may have been disturbed in the room we originally picked.
Review 14:Breakfast disappointing, a buffet would be preferable.
Review 15:Central situation but very quiet as centered round a courtyard. Rooms comfortable with good amenities, ask for a room overlooking the courtyard.
Review 16:I have stayed in Zafra before, but not this hotel. The location of the hotel was great and easy to find. Everything at the hotel was good , however I thought that the rooms were a bit tired and needed a bit of tender love & care. Breakfast was good but the staff need to put a smile on their faces.
Review 17:restaurant closed for dinner room not sound proof beds could be more comfotable did not like bathroom sink
Review 18:attractive very good bar garage - good and cheap - ideal when travelling long distance with luggage
Review 19:The wifi was dreadful, not available at all in our room and it was very patchy even in the public áreas - The hotel does not advertise that wifi is not availble in all parts of the hotel, if we had know that we would have booked somewhere else
Review 20:The hotel is nice, good location, friendly and helpful staff generally but the bar and restaurant staff were not welcoming and helpful, in fact they were quite surly
Review 21:A/C unit in room kept waking us up with alarming rattles. Breakfast had to be taken in the bar, no buffet to linger over just toast and coffee.
Review 22:Very pretty room, lovely view of castle. Well situated with private garage. Georgeous roof top garden.
Review 23:Had great difficulty finding the entrance to the hotel. No signs to reception.
Review 24:Location excellent and rooms /bathrooms well decorated. Lovely central courtyard.
Review 25:Breakfast facilities are in a public cafe. Don't pre-buy the hotel breakfast, better and cheaper to buy the items in their public cafe. It has limited choice. Parking is a pain, staff had to buy it for us, at our cost, from the Hotel Parador next door.
Review 26:Great hotel in a very handy location. Beautiful rooms, courtyard, roof garden and setting. Lovely little two person pool on the roof. En-suite was excellent, as was the AC
Review 27:Nicely appointed rooms, small but very nice plunge pool was great, hotel was immaculate. The location is perfect, just minutes from the Plaza Mayor and down the street from a lovely park. Sorry we didn't get a chance to try the restaurant.
Review 28:Food & drink was a bit pricey
Review 29:Parking was convenient
Review 30:Friendly staff in the hotel and the bar. Good breakfast and evening meal.Good fun!! One of the hotel staff spoke very good English
Review 31:Would have like WiFi in bedroom not just in lounge area
Review 32:Authentic Spanish hotel with bar used by locals. Bedrooms spacious and very clean
Review 33:poor wifi through the thick walls
Review 34:nice authentic location
Review 35:Everything
Review 36:We had difficulty locating the entrance.
Review 37:An amazing view and very attractive hotel. Great location.
Review 38:Great hotel with a character. Right next to the castle. Friendly staff.
Review 39:Location adjacent restaurant
Review 40:The staff was kind but not very informative upon arrival. The shower splashed far too much. You couldn't wash in the shallow ultra-modern basin. Breakfast was minimal (no buffet). The dipping pool looked attractive but not very clean.
Review 41:The hotel had authenticity, it was ancient but the rooms comfortable. We would have liked more information about the history. Location was superb.
Review 42:I have no negatives.
Review 43:The hotel was well located and easy to find. The room was excellent, with a lovely view of the central courtyard and the castle wall (Parador) beyond.
Review 44:staff did not speak much english, fortunately my son was along to translate. there was free wi-fi but the password provided by 2 different staff persons did not work, so was never able to use the wi-fi.
Review 45:nice quiet hotel. very traditional outside but modern inside. cafe and restaurant was very nice and convenient.
Review 46:2 years ago we spend a weekend at the Parador, so this time we chose this hotel looking for something new, and the experience was a bit disappointing. We arrive at 4 pm, the hotel was not full and they gave us a room smelling of stale smoke, with scratches in one of the walls and even a scaffold in the middle of the balcony holding the gutter – room 220. When I asked at the reception if that was a non-smokers room the clerk shrugged and told me that it was, but that they cannot control if the customers smoke in the rooms. For dinner at the cafeteria they offered us jamon and cheese toast. It was scarce and expensive, so we went to the Parador and had a real plate of jamón de bellota.
Review 47:The location is great and the parking is inexpensive – 6€. The TV lounge and cafeteria area looked comfortable. Breakfast was simple but good – orange juice, toast with grind tomato and good olive oil and good coffee.
Review 48:Dreadful noise all night from a fan outside the window. Zero view apart from through a porthole type hole in exterior wall. Bar staff on the slow and self important side but could've been a bad w/end for them!
Review 49:Easy walking distance to tourist stuff and restaurants. Lovely room and very spacious. Helpful staff on the front desk. Right comfy bed. We'd go there again!
Review 50:Unfortunately our shower had a drainage problem The swimming pool was closed which is not good considering we visited in August and it was so hot.
Review 51:We really liked the hotel. It is a charming building and we had a BBQ dinner in the courtyard which was excellent and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. The room was modern and comfortable.we also could see the castle from the room which was impressive.
Review 52:Charming old posada with patios and loggias. Very light. Pretty roomoverlooking inner patio. Parking available at hotel for 6 euros. Perfectlocation for exploring.
Review 53:The noisy children running around inside all afternoon. La permisividad con la que dejaban jugar a los niños tan cerca de las habitaciones (al día siguiente teníamos que madrugar).
Review 54:The man at reception was extremely helpful and friendly and gave us an upgrade to a superior room because we had asked for a quiet room and they were holding a performance in the hotel restaurant that night. The room was impeccably furnished in 19thC hacienda style, and the hotel itself was also beautifully decorated with a lovely patio and several restaurant and lounge spaces. Located right in the heart of the centre, with easy parking close by, a great find at a reasonable price. Hotel encantador.
Review 55:Slightly mean breakfast and the waiter was very unwelcoming. We had anexcellent looking ensuite but shower only no bath and shower flooded thefloor making it very slippy.
Review 56:Excellent secure underground parking for 5 euros. WiFi access inall lounges.
Review 57:Avoid Mondays, no resturants were open, including the hotel. Managed to get some expensive bar food in the hotel, not good!
Review 58:Location, right next to a parador and mins walk to the main area for resturants etc. The. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and functional. The view from the rooms is second to none looking over the roof tops to the Parador, fantastic.
Review 59:This hotel was our favorite on our trip we were shocked at the rustic beauty of this hotel, the room was beautiful and very comfortable and very large the bathroom was as large as some of the hotel rooms, staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English.
Review 60:Our only reservation about our stay concerned the breakfast. There were three options on the menu, differently priced, but the somewhat dour and abrupt waiter did not indicate that a particular one was included in our rate; we therefore chose the cheapest, which turned out to be very basic both in scope and quantity.
Review 61:Huerta Honda is a comfortable and well-equipped hotel, with a very relaxed atmosphere. It has a bar, a café, a restaurant, a shop selling local produce, and several public sitting-rooms with sofas and armchairs. The inner courtyard, surrounded by airy verandas, is a pleasant place to sit and have a drink or a snack. Our room, though not large, was more than adequate, with comfortable beds and a quiet situation above the courtyard, with a view onto the castle from its own balcony. The hotel is easy to find if arriving by car. It is situated right on the edge of the attractive historic part of Zafra, with its picturesque streets and squares. Everything is within easy walking distance of the hotel. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants. Huerta Honda has its own adjoining garage with room for a small number of cars - best to reserve in advance. The daily charge of 6€ was good value, as was the overnight rate we paid for bed and breakfast.
Review 62:The breakfast could have be a little better, only able to get some very ligth breakfast.
Review 63:Very cozy place, where you felt at home at the moment you arrived. Like the decoration and style there, very personal. Can recommend to all, thanks for a nice stay.
Review 64:Although the interior design of the rooms is chic and pleasing, the cheap materials used (wall coverings, paneling, curtains) already show wear and tear, giving a shabby appearance.
Review 65:Charming ambiance, quirky decor, picturesque patio, and view of illuminated castle from our room. The Huerta Honda restaurant's Chef Ignacio creates superb 'gourmet' cuisine using fresh local produce. Perfect location for exploring the historic center on foot.
Review 66:The decor and furnishings were excellent. One wanted to take some homethey were so nice. Free soft drinks in the room. Delicious food in thebeautifully designed and decorated dining room plus excellent wines.Open fires. The only downside is that they speak virtually no English.Zafra is a lovely town and has some good shops.

Review 74:Staff were not very welcoming. Breakfast was poor.
Review 75:The atrium and old world feel.
Review 76:The food was disappointing for dinner. Also the breakfast was very ordinary.
