Reviews for Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida

Review 1:The parking, the hotel should create 2/3 spots for disabled people.

Review 2:The hotel is also a school, students have not yet the professional experience that's why sometimes there is confusion in the restaurant but take it with a smile.

Review 3:The outdoor pool was not clean and not heated. Why why why? It would've made the hotel a 5-star hotel if it was!

Review 4:Beautiful view over the mountains from the hotel balcony. Amazing hotel, felt like I was staying in a real castle, a beautiful one! Amazing pictures and art everywhere. Close to the mountains and las palmas if you have a car. I only regret I didn't stay more days.

Review 5:No minibar. No Earl Grey tea. Slow internet. Too many different waiters, rather shy and not very attentive nor proactive or anticipating your needs. Restaurant Service in général has a lot room for improvement and at moments feels a bit clumsy. Parking Is Luck. Bed moves as on small wheels. Small elevator.

Review 6:Friendly. Sauna. Nice Garden. Newspapers. Rather quiet. Safe in room.

Review 7:They charge if you want to drink a second orange juice at breakfast (even when I did not drink coffee nor tea...) Not a good policy... TV in the room is very small and image quality was not good.

Review 8:Nice staff. Comfortable room and wifi working properly. Breakfast was OK. room had a huge terrace (although it was located on the first floor)

Review 9:The staff were so friendly, even after we arrived later than we expected to, - without prior notice! Our rental car was nearly cancelled, but not our room! Our flight left very early and they even packed us a box breakfast for our journey. Well done, thank you. Free street parking available was also a bonus.

Review 10:Nothing to complain about

Review 11:This four star hotel with fairly luxurious appointment be it teetering on slightly shabby can provide excellent value for money. They train people to work in the hotel business - cooks, receptionists, etc.Our experience was excellent for the money - four star quality and service at three or even two star rates.

Review 12:Limited parking.

Review 13:Although this is a training hotel for potential hoteliers, we were very well looked after and the staff could not have been more helpful. Excellent breakfasts and a nice pool; great views.

Review 14:We had trouble finding a parking space when we first arrived; I think people from the neighborhood parked in hotel places. But one person at the desk actually came outside to help find a place and to bring in our luggage. No problem with parking after that first time. I suggested that they provide guests with a sign 'Guest of Hotel Escuela' to put on their inside windscreen, to discourage others from parking there.

Review 15:The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly. The student staff were charming. Sta Brigida was centrally located for trips around the island, and was out of the noise of the city.

Review 16:A fridge would have been helpful and the beds mover around, but these are minor complaints

Review 17:Booked B&B. Very good breakfast , plenty of variety whether continental or fried ( plus cakes!! ). Ate in 2 nights at excellent value of Euro12 per person for 3 courses with a drink.Had Standard room ( No balcony ), plenty of hot water & clean towels. Free wifi & safe.Staff very good

Review 18:breakfast okay, coffee bad

Review 19:all, especially the location, the views, the ambiance of the house, the young and friendly staff, the comfortable room and bed, the good and cheap dinner

Review 20:The lack of a balcony in the standard double room

Review 21:The staff at the reception, comfortable room, decent wifi, exellent breakfast, free parking and sauna

Review 22:-wi-fi in the room was average speed and sometimes just disappeared :(

Review 23:-The surrounding of the hotl:planty of old palm trees and other green plants -big and comfortable beds -delicious and various food for breakfast, great coffee

Review 24:Not exactly a bad experience but whilst the staff in reception were fine, the waiting staff did not have a single clue at breakfast - no welcome - no one prepared to show us to our table and not a smile of acknowledgement anywhere - I wonder quite what the "students" are learning here - their indifference persuaded us to eat in the evening across the road.Breakfast was totally self service - cooked food accompanied by stone cold plates - reconstituted orange juice in the land of eternal summer and fresh fruit all year was a miss. Undrinkable sugar infused coffee from a machine.

Review 25:Lovely sunny room with balcony overlooking the garden and valley beyond - we would have been very disappointed had we had one of the back rooms. The room was bright and airy - extremely clean and comfortable with the two huge twin beds pushed together before our arrival. Good bathroom and shower. Great wifi connection but satellite television hopeless with just BBC World News in English. We can not comment on the restaurant as there was no one eating there on either of our two evenings' stay - hence absolutely no atmosphere so we ate in the bar/restaurant opposite which was fine.

Review 26:Cold, unwelcoming. No atmosphere. Only saw one member of staff smile once. Asked for gluten free bread at breakfast told to wait 5mins. Waited 40mins was totally ignored. Food badly presented some of it inedible. Only a couple of choices and half of them unavailable. Very scruffy in places. Because it is remote there is nowhere else to go so they have a captive audience. Glad we had only booked two nights. Would not stay here again.

Review 27:Booked this because I like hotels that are a bit different. This is, but not in a good way. The staff are all training here, but they don't seem to be trying very hard.

Review 28:- Breakfast - only had it on 1 of the 2 days we stayed there, but it was rather poor then. We arrived towards end of slot, but hardly anything was left and warm dishes were cold and no effort was made to restock dished. The selection was also quite poor

Review 29:- Room with terrace - nicely furnished, very spacious + comfortable, great beds, sunny and spacious terrace, views of palm garden - Very friendly and helpful staff (esp. restaurant and reception) - yes, they are learning and sometimes the English could be better, but they make up for any of such minor shortcomings by extreme friendliness and helpfulness - Half-board meals: The Xmas day dinner was not worth the special price of E 44 pp, but the normal dinners at E10 were lovely, well presented and certainly good value for money

Review 30:this is a hotel school. There are students who learn how to run a hotel who serve you, teachers as well. They are all very friendly. The room was nice, good value for money! Nice breakfast! You need a car to get around. Very convenient for the airport and for Las Palmas.

Review 31:The location is really unfortunate - in th emiddle of nowhere, there is not even anything close to a village to be reached in walking distance - just a small supermarket and a restaurant. It takes 30 minutes to the city center of las Palmas, 30-45 min to the beach in the north. The gym was very old and disappointing, and breakfast was not adequate for a 4 star hotel.

Review 32:Staff was mostly very friendly (this is a school for hotel employees). Everything was very clean and the room was beautiful and modern.

Review 33:The meals were very poor and we were given rabbit instead of chicken on one occasion and tuna salad instead of "ensalada russ"!!!

Review 34:The breakfasts were excellent but the hot food could have been kept in hot covered dishes.

Review 35:Nothing!

Review 36:breakfast -egg and bacon should be hot but everything else was superb. Staff were most helpful in arranging parking for handicapped person. Again staff were efficient and most friendly.

Review 37:Outdated

Review 38:Value, great dinner, even better breakfast

Review 39:Everything

Review 40:Parking for a car is a problem

Review 41:The building, the gardens and the pool were lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful

Review 42:Parking was difficult

Review 43:Excellent evening meals

Review 44:Great place for the price!

Review 45:The friendly and courteous staff.

Review 46:Lunch at 130pm. Far to Spanish for a Brit with a young kid.

Review 47:Fab room. Helpful staff. Good food.

Review 48:everything

Review 49:Did not have own parking lot, but always found parking close by. Really not a problem.

Review 50:The staff was excellent. Very helpful and would go out of their way to help. The room was very nice and very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel. You can not go wrong. I was surprised that a few days before arrival received e-mail asking us for any special needs, most impressive!

Review 51:The breakfast table was not succesfull. Last year it was much better. For example there was no yogurt until I asked and it came two days later. The gym was not in a good shape eather. It was not clean either.

Review 52:Considering that it is a hotel which provides training for students it was a good stay, but not really value for money. I liked the loation and the view, This was our second stay in the hotel and we are planning to come back.

Review 53:typical in most hotels here is the paper-thin walls, so we heard noise from the stairwell and hallway. wifi a bit slow but manageable. we booked this place mainly because they advertised "free parking for guests" They own actually parking space only for 1 car but we always found places in the surrounding streets, so not a big problem. the location is not very convenient without a car.

Review 54:friendly staff, facility is quite new, good breakfast selection, good street parking around the hotel. We had a nice stay!

Review 55:Breakfast was variable, things were not replaced quickly enough, no one seemed to be supervising. The toaster never worked was just wasting electricity. Coffee was poor machine not always working. Room was OK but bed linen needed changing more frequently. WiFi was unreliable.

Review 56:Evening meal good value with interesting choices on menu, the students courses were generally good.

Review 57:Poor breakfast, also coffee machine broken and the toaster not working properly. No carpets or rugs, so rooms were noisy. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment so perhaps it will improve.

Review 58:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 59:It was not the best location, but that is a known factor when booking and cannot be controlled by the hotel management. So this is okay.

Review 60:We had an after mid night check in and the staff were super friendly and helpful with all our requests. We would used them again

Review 61:Location is close to the street but noise level is very low.

Review 62:Very comfortable for visiting Las Palmas and close to the airport. We had a very early morning flight and staff gave us picnic breakfast. Sauna is for free, just ask 30 minutes in advance to heat it up.

Review 63:The Hotel is situated in the middle of a suburb at 4 km from the first village. So, you need a car to have dinner outside. (we didn't try the restaurant of the Hotel) The only restaurant - that was opened, just in front of the Hotel, is quite expensive for a poor quality of food. More

Review 64:A 4-stars Hotel very clean with excellent bedding, excellent breakfast, nice rooms.

Review 65:If I had to say something... maybe the inconvenience of having renovation work going on at certain areas of the hotel. But honestly, we didn´t hear any noises at all.

Review 66:Really nice hotel, and I guess it would be even better after the renovation process they are undergoing at the moment. Staff was very helpful and efficient. The room was bigger than expected and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast buffet had a good selection, from hot dishes to fresh fruits. The restaurant, with special menu at a discount for guests was also very good.

Review 67:The beds are extremely hard. Not very comfortable. We had a lot of noice from the aircon I think. make sure to get a room facing the valley. Remenber the mointains are cold compared to the coast just 10 minutes drive away.

Review 68:I hate to brake it but the the design of this hotel is not my favorite. I might have been nice in the 80ies but since then small windows, cream coloured toilets and big heavy cherry tree furniture has gone quite old fashion. And the the trees of the hotel garden has grown to an extend that makes the hole place rather dark.

Review 69:Nice Sfaff Nice View Lovely suroundings (Santa Brigada, Las Palmos, Tejeda) BTW: Its very easy to get to the hotel by public transport: From Las Palmos (telmo): Take bus 301/303 to "El Monte". After 15 minutes you see the hotel (tall long yellow wall) on your right handside. Just after that: there is your bus stop. The buses leaves every half hour.

Review 70:We had planned a walking holiday but the location was some way from the prime walking areas so had to drive for over an hour each day to get into the more remote parts of the island.

Review 71:The staff were extremely pleasant and courteous. The restaurant run by the hospitality and catering college was excellent for quality of food, service and value.

Review 72:One has to be aware, that the Hotel is located in the mountains, so it would be helpful, to have a car to travel around, especially, if one wants to have a sunbath at the seaside. It is wonderful for a few relaxing days in the countryside and exploration of the coast to return in the evening back to the Hotel....

Review 73:The very warm welcome and the helpfulness of the staff, flexible and kind, the location was just perfect to spend Christmas at that place and they all put much effort behind to have a festival evening. thank you!

Review 74:Rather small territory near the busy road.

Review 75:Frendly staff, comfortable restroom with multilanguage books and board games, homelike breakfast. Really good idea to place an alarm button into bathroom.

Review 76:Parking was a problem, they could do with a solution for this. The cleaner came into our room at 8.45am, completely unacceptable I think when you are on holiday. The breakfast was only ok, I think it's time to make this more up to date? We had a room at the back of the building whe you could hear the boiler firing up every five minutes, also the dustcart and delivery trucks pulled into the loading bay from 8am and there was a LOT of shouting and noise right under our window. The hotel is a 'hotel school' in an old building, so prepare for this, it's decor is tired and dusty and the staff are aiming to work in other hotels around Spain. Despite the pretty mountainous location, I don't think this hotel offers value for money in its current state.

Review 77:The peaceful location was nice, the dining and reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 78:I will give three bad points :- No parking. Yes, you can park nearby the hotel. If you are lucky like us on the second night, you could park in the street in front of the hotel. If you are unlucky like us on the third night, you will need to park a few street away. - The elevators are minuscules. You can fit two persons in there, but expect that your luggage will not fit with the two of you. Also, it is one of these elevators which someone needs to pull the door from the outside (or push from the inside). If you are travelling with your baby with a stroller, or if you are in a wheelchair ... good luck with that. - The hotel really look fancy, but a few things just kill the first impression you have. E.g. fancy and nice looking bathroom, but the shower head was unstable and leaking ; the inside decoration of the hotel is nice, but then you desperately try to squeezes the stroller in the elevator ; the main entrance to the hotel are via stairs at from the main street and the reception is well design, but if you are on a wheelchair and/or if you cannot use the stairs, you need to enter via a back door where wheelchair would not fit ... To sum up, I really recommend this hotel if you are alone or a group of people, including couples. But if you are a young couple with a baby, or if you have problems to move around, I have one word : avoid. The hotel is apparently a 4 stars hotel. I would give it a 3 stars at best.

Review 79:It is located in Santa Brígida, far from the noisy and crowded resort.Three good points are :- The rooms, hotel and garden looks very nice. There is also a pool for a swim at the start/end of the day. - The personnel at the hotel are very friendly. - Breakfast are good : you have the warm option (eggs, sausages, bacon,...) and cold options (brötchen/rolls, cold meat, cheese, ...) I would definitively recommend this hotel to couples who plans to have a few days, without having to stay in one of the tourist resort in the south of Gran Canarias.

Review 80:Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida is a very nice hotel, perfectly locatednear (approximately 15 minutes by car) the airport. Despite a closedistance of the airport, its nicely situated in a small village. Thestuff is very lovely and most helpful. There is a medium-sized swimmingpool in a beautiful garden under the palm trees and little gym andsauna in the basement. Breakfast is the most spectacular, it's a buffetstyle with countless delicates, from eggs, roastbeef, sausages, grilledvegetable etc. to sweet bread, yogurts, müssli, muffins and cakes andattention gluten-free bread for those who would normally regret widerange of food choices!

Review 81:we did not want a resort location with families and bustle and so this was an ideal location. As the hotel and locals said "we don't get many tourists (from UK) here" The location outside Las Palmas was thus ideal and, apart from the road outside, was quiet to relax by the pool which was also unoccupied most of the time. Restaurant served good food and breakfast although it was generally quiet as it was off season - but ideal for couples. Hotel staff were particularly helpful and accommodating. A short bus ride back into Las Palmas if needed but there was a small shop and bakers/coffee bar along the road fro essentials. Small pizza restaurant across the road from the hotel was a good alternative for food a drink and had a nice atmosphere.

Review 82:Limited parking but we were lucky and found space in street behind hotel. One of the lifts not working.

Review 83:We liked the fact that it was a training school on Gran Canaria. Staff eager to give a good service and practise their skills. Great breakfast. Great opportunity to drive through spectacular mountain landscape driving north to south.

Review 84:Really, really beautiful hotel, fantastic hotel staff, very goodreception service. The boy in the reception speak very good english andwas very helpful with our requests. Very nice, big rooms with fantasticvew. Very, very good, breakfast. We visit town of Santa Brigida and weliked as well, its only few stops by buss from the hotel.Just on otherside of the hotel is a restaurant which we visited and they have mostfantastic pizza we ever had.We really enjoy our stay and we are happy toreturn again next year for a longer priod of time.

Review 85:Beds were much too hard. Car parking is insufficient, but we lucked outwith street parking each evening.

Review 86:Breakfast was excellent, including the coffee. Did not eat othermeals there.

Review 87:We had booked breakfast only and were amazed by the offer. Freshtortillas even german Vollkornbrot, other pastries, lovely coffee and asI am vegetarian delighted about grilled vegetables. Staff was friendlyand very professional, the type of waiter/waitress that you don't noticebut there when you need them. Even close to termination of breakfastfood was still available which I liked really. I was missing moreregional fruits like papaya or others but that might be a seasonalthing. I would book this hotel again and can only recommend it.

Review 88:The hotel does not have a car park so that guests have to try to find a space to park outside the grounds on the main road. The hotel is set back from the road up a fairly steep hill and many steps; this makes taking luggage in fairly challenging.

Review 89:Extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely gardens, good restaurant and food.

Review 90:I expected a spa - no sign of it or of anywhere locally thatwould suffice.

Review 91:The reception staff all spoke English which is rare up here in themountains. Very helpful and friendly. Restaurant fabulous and breakfaststo die for! Free internet connection in all rooms. There is a fabulousbar directly opposite the hotel if you want to eat somewhere else orjust sit with coffee and people watch. Beautiful location with mountainsall around.

Review 92:There was a couple of things that could be better. The bed was very hard and the gym was very poorly equipped.

Review 93:Nearly everything was very good at his hotel. The breakfast was perfect and the room was very nice.

Review 94:beds too hard

Review 95:bedroom en-suite (although a bit dated) breakfast friendly staff

Review 96:Beds should be changed during a one week stay

Review 97:Good Location. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent value evening meals.

Review 98:perfect.

Review 99:For the travelers without car, more complicated to reach. We had a car.

Review 100:You feel yourself like in the private villa.

Review 101:Light airy and friendly

Review 102:No negatives

Review 103:Everything...Nothing to dislike...super hotel & staff

Review 104:The hotel was in such a great setting and very near to Las Palmas , the mountains and the beaches.

Review 105:The room was excellent and very nice. The surrounding was beautiful and we enjoyed our staying really much.

Review 106:The restaurant was not as good as expected. It is located along a busy road.

Review 107:The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Review 108:The only slight negative was the lack of on site parking

Review 109:Rooms were clean and spacious, staff attentive and friendly.

Review 110:nice rooms , nice garden , near las palmas and other attraction, good breakfast and friendly staff, everything perfect.

Review 111:Little bit remote location...

Review 112:Almost everything...

Review 113:Wooden floors in the room. Excellent shower.Sauna. Access to computer and even printer. Very good breakfast.

Review 114:The room had a slight damp odour. The internet access was very slow.

Review 115:My stay was brief, but the staff and facilities were very good

Review 116:Fantastic hotel with friendly personel. A lot of surprises qua service
