Reviews for Sandton Hôtel Domaine Cocagne
Review 1:Wifi is not up to standards, but we were quickly given the staff login to accommodate our needs.
Review 2:Gorgeous property in a secluded area, which allows you to relax away from the hustle and touristic crowd, but is only a 5-10 mins drive to the city centre. The hotel staff went into town to get a specific type of Belgian beer, simply because I mentioned it... Think that sums up the service quite nicely. Restaurant is probably the best bang for your buck in the neighborhood. Chef is excellent and with the daily 3 course menu, you can't go wrong. Rooms have apparently been remodelled and refurbished last year, which shows: clean and modern. The suite in which we stayed has a magnificent terrace overlooking the ocean. Hotel is definitely one of the cleanest I've seen at the Côte d'Azur. Will book again.
Review 3:Room wasn't ready, removed from the main hotel, hard to get around at night with lack of lighting/path, the manager was less than courteous, and the air conditioner didn't work in the main room
Review 4:Kind of funky, good food, off the beaten track
Review 5:Nothing, unless you had a one-off unfortunate problem, you'd be hard pushed to fault this place.
Review 6:Our second visit to Domaine Cocagne so we new what to expect and weren't disappointed - everything was perfect - our room (clean, modern and stylish, with all one needed) was a few metres from the pool, bar and restaurant although there was no interference from noise etc., in fact the whole place is totally tranquil. The food was superb and the wine excellent and not over priced, and the staff couldn't have been better; we loved the whole thing and this place is now on our permanent list we will be back!
Review 7:Lovely hotel very close to airport and convenient to local attractions - Renoir museum, st Paul du Vance, etc. Staff were incredibly kind and warm. Large room for Europe standards. Wish we spent more time.
Review 8:For English only-speakers this is an ideal hotel, run by highly competent and friendly staff, with an excellent restaurant and great pool. It's proximity to Nice Airport is a real advantage while the out-of-town site is refreshing after battling city traffic.
Review 9:It isn't easy to find even with a GPS.
Review 10:A lovely hotel in the hills of Provence. Friendly staff at check-in. Delicious breakfast. Large, spacious modern room with a balcony facing the pool.
Review 11:The room was located in a building far away from the breakfastroom, so we had to make a difficult climb every morning to get to our breakfast. The breakfastroom was not clean. The breakfast itself was limited and boring.
Review 12:The location was good : it was nice to be away from de crowdy en noisy town. We had a nice big room.
Review 13:The restaurant was good but over-priced.
Review 14:As a 4 star hotel we were expecting quality and we weren't disappointed. The rooms were very modern and the bed was so luxurious it was like sleeping in a marshmallow. Lots of parking and great views.
Review 15:By arriving at about 7.30 p.m., the room was not completely prepared. There were not towels in the bathroom. The wifi - an important facility for a business man - didn't function correctly, despite my complains they were not able to provide an improvement. Apparently they have only a week connection to make believe they are equipped, but during my stay I had to use my personal hotspot and charge my budget by the expensive data roaming.
Review 16:Quiet,good value, lovely ambiance. One of our most favourite nights on our trip. The tips from reception also to try restaurant in medieval square made for a memorable stay over.
Review 17:Difficult to find. Breakfast not the best quality. Long walk from reception to accommodation, especially in the rain! Poor WiFi signal.
Review 18:Lovely welcome including rose on bed. Great bathroom. Proximity to Haut de Cagnes - fantastic medieval hilltop village and Musée Renoir.
Review 19:It's a good place
Review 20:Loved this place! It's very elegant, clean and rooms are wide and well taken..We were there for New year eve so we couldn't use the pool but it was great seen from our balcony. We had a good deal for our stay, icluded parking and breakfast.we will be bcak.
Review 21:The room was outdated and dirty. Bugs and Mosquitos bit me and I didn't sleep a wink. The air conditioner made noise the entire night. It was the worst vacation night of my life.
Review 22:The pool area was nice
Review 23:Impossible to visit without a car and this was never made clear. The pool area is very cramped and our bedroom, despite being a superior room, was in a bad state of repair. We did not stay more than a day but they were very helpful finding us another hotel.
Review 24:Wonderful views
Review 25:Nothing we didn't like!
Review 26:All the staff at the Sandton Hotel Domaine Cocagne were very friendly, helpful and professional. Very clean and lovely hotel in an excellent location. Will definetly book again when we return to the location of Monte Carlo and Nice.
Review 27:The hotel offers you a quiet and secluded place to rest and enjoy the South of France. Its located in between Nice and Cannes so it offers you a great starting point to discover the French Riviera. However if your looking for piece and comfort, the hotel is great for that as well. With a great pool and nice views it was really an awesome experience for us. We even extended our stay, thats how much we liked it. Definitly try the diner as well. The food is excellent.
Review 28:Not easy to find the hotel. The hotel restaurant opening hour should be published so we could take dinner before we try to find the hotel
Review 29:The hotel was nice but quite hard to find. We arrived on Sunday, their restaurant closed we need to go out for food. The hotel staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 30:If we didn't have GPS we might have had trouble finding it, not really a negative but a warning. The location allows for the charm and peace and quiet.
Review 31:The staff was wonderful and we had a garden view room, the peace and quiet was great. Breakfast was quite a spread and the dinner was wonderful.
Review 32:It's a little difficult to find. The rooms are a little difficult to get to from the lobby.
Review 33:The staffs were friendly and helpful.
Review 34:Only problem was very intermittent wifi which couldn't be counted on much of the time
Review 35:Delicious dinners
Review 36:everything wlse
Review 37:calm
Review 38:the view the swimming pool the food everything
Review 39:the breakfast
Review 40:the room, the view, the personnel
Review 41:no place to walk around. car is needed
Review 42:big room with a big terrace, always clean, quiet, friendly staff
Review 43:Rooms comfortable but quite basic. Bathroom needed redecorating.
Review 44:Very helpful and polite staff
Review 45:The hospitality of the staff and the great location
Review 46:the bathroom we missed a mirror in the room we prefer a place near the beach next time
Review 47:We liked the terras, the breackfast and the bed was good.
Review 48:Sfaff was very helpful. Nice place to relax.
Review 49:Even if nothing was wrong with the breakfast (especially loved fresh croissants every morning!), for longer stay it would be a bit boring to have same things every day, would love to have some tomatoes and cucumbers. Internet does not work in more distant rooms from reception, but for chill-out atmosphere it is may be even good.
Review 50:Location perfect for those who want to rest away from touristic places of Riviera, and chill out in a relaxed atmosphere. You need a car to get around, but when you have one, everything is within 10 minute drive-supermarket, beach, restaurants etc. Nice pool and lounge for sunbathing, very kind and helpful staff. Good parking for the cars.
Review 51:There was nothing that we did not luke
Review 52:All of the staff were very efficient and friendly and were particularly helpful with regard to my wife's requirement for wheelchair access. A very relaxing hotel which we will certainly use again
Review 53:Our terrace was not always swept or the table surface wiped. A few areas could do with a bit of TLC/refurbishment
Review 54:Upon entering the reception we were greeted by a very charming lady who checked us in & showed us to our room which was very modern & had a great terrace overlooking both the pool & the gardens including a distant sea view (no.53). The main dining room which doubled as the breakfast room was great with ample tables. The bar area was very well presented & overlooked the pool. There is also an outside terrace which you could use for breakfast as well, which again had ample tables & seats etc. The hotel is set within a residential area on top of a hill which gives some wonderful views to the surrounding area. The pool has a number of rattan style sunbeds which we found to be very relaxing & the area very quiet...great for unwinding. Overall there were some minor niggles but this would not put us off rebooking or fully recommending this hotel.
Review 55:Definetely not a 4* hotel: rooms so basic, tired furniture, ants everywhere. The hotel rooms are actually located in something like bungalows, all looked very old and in desperate need of renovation. No value for the money we paid...
Review 56:For us the location was very convinient: close to Nice, Cannes, St.Paul, out of the city in a quite area- but have in mind you need a car as it's far from everything else.
Review 57:The pool is not heated, which is common in these parts of the world. Soit was a bit chilly, even for the kids, in April. Fresh fruit at thebreakfast would have been a bonus. But for a French breakfast it wasvery elaborate.
Review 58:The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating. They made usfeel really welcome from our (late) arrival to our departure. And I loved the Shiatsu massage we booked at the hotel.
Review 59:room no. 53 was dirty. walls dirty with cracks near the doors. wi-fi very poor in signal and slow speed internet traffic. room was cleaned only after our second day. old and warn furniture. window curtains dirty and warn in our room. in one evening after my fiance make shower for abt 10 minute the hot water finish and i washed myself with cold water - explanation from the reception was that hot water was used for to long time and empty the boiler - unacceptable for pretention of 4 stars hotel. in the last day apear a lot of ants from the parquet near the walls. in conclusin this is not a four stars room, cannot reach even two. we stay only 4 days but was realy unpleasant experience for us.
Review 60:restaurant was ok. breakfast in the morning ok. reception and restaurant personnel polite and helpful.
Review 61:The Restaurant only had menu's, and no a la Carte possibility. This is a pitty, and hopefully the Chef will come back soon!
Review 62:For a Dutchman living in Munich, staying at the Domaine Cocagne is like coming home! Very helpfull staff, Good breakfast, nice Location and a great place to relax!
Review 63:The only issue is that air conditioning was not working, we guess, because it was too warm in the room.
Review 64:The room is large, confortable and the view to the swimming pool is fantastic. The breakfast is very good. The staff in the reception desk was very very friendly!!!
Review 65:Experienced only two problems. First, Internet capability was very poor. Speed was extremely slow. Secondly, it was not easy to find the hotel for a first time guest. Signs for hotel (small blue signs) could be larger and should be mentioned in guest confirmation information. Overall, we liked the hotel and had a nice stay. We would recommend it to friends.
Review 66:Excellent staff were helpful and friendly, including flexibility to accommodate our late arrival. Also staff allowed guests to enjoy their breakfast, without hurrying them away. Breakfast had excellent variety and quality. Dinner was well prepared and delicious. Aperitif and dinner services were excellent. Thanks to the staff, we enjoyed a fun relaxing time.
Review 67:Design deco but we found it had "no soul" and no colour, no milk and little choice on courtesy tray, weeds and stained table on balcony, bathroom needs TLC (not 4 star standing), few TV stations in English & French, many stairs to climb, nice to see eggs and bacon for breakfast but alas, were cold...
Review 68:Spacious room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, good-sized pool (even though we didn't get to use it), pleasantly decorated restaurant, good breakfast
Review 69:nothing
Review 70:This really is a very nice hotel. The staff were charming and extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean and quiet. The breakfasts were excellent and the restaurant does top end cuisine. The location was in the hills just outside Cagnes Sur Mer. The price was very reasonable. Overall a wonderful hotel.
Review 71:Road and should be hotel sign on the main road before the last turn on the bottom of the hill.
Review 72:Environment, quite, friendly, good food, good size of room, view, swimming pool, reasonable price, Next time I will stay again.
Review 73:Unfortunatly i leaved the hotel after 2 night for family reasons, but i had to pay for all days booked.i understand policies, but it's not "customer centric".best regards.
Review 74:Nice place,very clan.
Review 75:Family room had a poor layout, Air conditioning was very poor. Room furniture was very worn. Breakfast service was poor
Review 76:Restaurant was first class for Dinner. Nice pool
Review 77:Better directions when booking online would be helpful. The websitedidn't make it clear to us that it was a hilltop hotel, which was apleasant surprise to us, once we found it.
Review 78:The Maitre d was excellent - very helpful, courteous and friendly andset a good example to the young staff who responded. Also very efficientservice on checkout. Excellent food!
Review 79:Hard to find unless you have a gps. &Quot;Modern" layout of guestrooms is a bit dated now, poor quality melamine chipboard furniture, would expect something better, even solid wood in a 4 star hotel. Patioand area around entrance to room a bit dirty.
Review 80:Good location, good breakfast included, great views
Review 81:we had some ants in the room. we altered about it and the hotel stuff sprayed against it, which was effective
Review 82:stuff very friendly and helpful. they know English. Very good breakfast. we used a room for 4 and it was big and enjoyable
Review 83:Super friendly personnel and good restaurant. Very good service and good location to make short trips to any direction. Fantastic pool for children.
