Reviews for Hotel Auberge La Fenière

Review 1:The quality of service in the hotel itself left a lot to be desired. Breakfast ill prepared on first two days of our stay with 1 member of staff doing all the work. Clearly he was over-loaded and we had to ask for a table for 4 to be prepared. The breakfast arrived bit by bit and we had to ask for fresh juice and cereal. By the last morning of our stay all was correct. In the bedroom there was no hair dryer. On the first night of our stay there was no water for 2 hours and we were unable to shower before dinner. Not what one would expect from a hotel that boasts of its 4 star quality.

Review 2:Excellent quality of the restaurant - the cooking of Reine Sammut was splendid. The situation of the hotel was very good.

Review 3:They lock up the main building and the reception at 10pm some days so check the latest check-in times and talk to them if you're planning on getting there late. The area seems to have a lot of mosquitoes so be prepared. Can't quite see why it's priced so high

Review 4:the breakfast whilst pricey was very nice... couldn't manage it every day as it was too tempting to eat for hours. the restaurant had a great set menu although it's a long dine getting through all those delicious courses. Throughout Luberon the local town of Lourmarin was prob our favourite

Review 5:Dated bathroom. We were rather disappointed with our dinner in the bistro, a bit average.

Review 6:Beautiful setting, lovely view of surrounding countryside from our balcony. Nice spacious bedroom

Review 7:Suites suffer too much promiscuity as people need to walk across your private terrace to access the garden.

Review 8:Wacky decor. Superb food. Welcoming staff.

Review 9:I can't think of a single thing. Top notch venue.

Review 10:Fantastic ambience, quiet and very cosy location with ample space in the room and a delightful countryside feeling. We live in the city so the fresh air and beautiful landscape around the site was breathtaking. Staff was more than friendly and very helpful with dining options. The room was very comfortable and spacious and if not for the cold weather, we would have spent more time on the balcony. We dined at the bistrot, having been invited to participate in a charity auction and dinner held on the night we checked in. That was simply a blast with the owner's band playing rock songs from the 70s and dancing the night away. We barely speak any French but the warmth and hospitality of the owners and their staff was simply amazing. We will definitely come back soon.

Review 11:the shower head was low level so had to hold it above your head to shower and the breakfast was expensive for a continental even though there was a variety and no white bread

Review 12:the hotel security if we were late coming in was good as it had a security number for the gate and a side door to the hotel

Review 13:No light in shower. Shower and sink next to bed - not separated, part of bedroom. Lovely toiletries not replenished after first day (we were there for 3 nights)

Review 14:Excellent restaurant. Both Bistro and main restaurant. Probably too much food - bring a doggy bag! Evian in the bedroom. Quite large bedroom with very comfortable bed. Gorgeous setting with olive trees and vegetable plot. Just lovely grounds and all the staff very friendly and professional. Location - about a mile from Lourmarin which is a delightful village with an excellent market. About an hour from Aix (by car)

Review 15:There was a wardrobe in our room but the door was locked..so no place tohang our clothes!

Review 16:The restaurant was great!Reasonable price for a one start Michelin anddelicious!

Review 17:That we had to leave this place

Review 18:In random order: The staff is unique, it is 100% clean, the best breakfast in the world, the food in general and last but not least: The property/buildings/atmosphere surrounded by the garden of Eden.

Review 19:What an amazing hotel - quiet, luxurious and beautiful - from the vegetable gardens to the small groups of sofas/umbrellas scattered across the lawn, the attention to detail in the design of the house and gardens and the attentive staff - its a fabulous place and I would highly recommend it for a luxurious stay.

Review 20:No Heated swimming pool Poor Internet service Poor in roomentertainment, no English tv channels

Review 21:Upon arrival the ambiance and mood of the hotel was very pleasing, beautiful grounds, with modern sculptures scattered through theproperty. The interior is somewhat eclectic modern, trying hard butproviding more clash than dash. We had a suite which was clean and ofreasonable size but lacking any flair from a decorative perspective.Food was the highlight of the stay. The hotel has two restaurants, gourmand fine dining and bistro. Frankly, the bistro which is housed ina very pretty building adjacent to the main building offers far bettervalue. The food was excellent and for 4 courses at e35 per head verygood value. What was astonishing was how exactly the same wine waspriced 50% higher in the fine dining restaurant. Why? The explanationwas a rather bizarre "here we offer a gourmand experience",yes with a ridiculous mark up! However, the experience was marred by afew number of serious short comings in our opinion. The pool is notheated , which given where the hotel is trying to position itself isinexcusable. It meant our child couldnt use the pool during our stay. The WiFi is woefully poor making any kind of internet activity apointless exercise and finally the management have concluded that theyonly need to provide French tv channels, with no international offering, not even the obligatory cnn or bbc world news. Overall a slightly bittersweet experience, very nearly very good but overall needs to try harderto justify their pricing. If, pool, wifi or in room entertainment arenot priorities then I would recommend a stay, if traveling with childrenit would be a different matter.

Review 22:We would have loved to have a room with view but unfortunately, theywere full. Our room did not have a great view but it was large andcomfortable. The gardens are so beautiful that you dont have to stay inthe room at all.

Review 23:We really enjoyed our stay in this small hotel. It is located in themiddle of breath-taking hills of Luberon and the hotel has a beautifulgarden where they grow their own vegetables. The pool is nice andrelaxing and the staff are really freindly and warm. We ate at theBistro restaurant and enjoyed the appetizers, food and the wine. Also, the staff are well-trained and nice. This was one of the best stays wehad in France and I would stay in this hotel when I go back to Luberon.

Review 24:I loved how relaxed we felt while staying there. The pool and thegrounds were absolutely beautiful. We only ate at the Bistrot, but itwas wonderful. The staff was most helpful as well and spoke greatEnglish. We even met the Chef/Owner and she was unbelievably charming.

Review 25:Maids kept on leaving the windows open which allowed Mosquitos in ... husband ad to take time to kill them all before bed as he is very sensitive to bites

Review 26:Everything was excellent ...

Review 27:Everything was just perfect.

Review 28:We very much enjoyed our stay at the Auberge. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The food is of good quality and the service is excellent. We definitely recommend this place to other travelers.
