Reviews for Parador de Ronda
Review 1:We requested a staff to book a taxi for following early morning but the staff refused to book a taxi and told us that call it when it's actually needed. We didn't ask further because we didn't want to ruin our trip to get mad at this unfriendly person. We needed to wake up 10mins earlier to reserve waiting time for a taxi in the early morning. It was disappointing service.
Review 2:Staff. Maitre D' and waiter, while relatively competent were rude and dismissive making dinner a very uncomfortable experience. Reception staff on arrival and departure unhelpful at best.
Review 3:Familiarity having stayed numerous times before. Hold 'amigos' card. Location.
Review 4:View from our room was rubbish. No double bed. Tiles in bathroom needed a good scrub as they were dirty and in the bath/shower they were very grimy. Ceiling in the bathroom was showing evidence from some water damage as the paint was flaking off in parts. Very noisy, we were woken by both neighboring room and the room above at 7am, doesn't seem to be any sound proof insulation. Carpets in the room and in the main corridors were badly stained. Not what I was expecting from a 4* Parador
Review 5:Location was great. Rooms were large. Bedding was immaculate. Decent breakfast.
Review 6:Driving through the city is tough, but parking at the hotel is easy once you find the plaza.
Review 7:Great location and enjoyed hiking the hills outside of town looking back at the hotel up on the ridge.
Review 8:The hotel has had it's heyday twenty to thirty years ago. It is no longer the kind of hotel one would expect from a parador. Parking space in their garage is quite limited and spaces are small. Best to inquire before parking.
Review 9:Location, location, location. The location of this hotel is superb. And this is what you pay for. The hotel itself obviously has seen it's best days and would do well with an upgrade. But with that location, people will come anyway. Good bar, good tapas, good wine. Internet sometimes very slow, but it works.
Review 10:Absolutely nothing!!
Review 11:Fantastic location for the old town great too for the newer town with it's bars and restaurants - the views from the hotel are truly wonderful also.
Review 12:The air conditioning can only heat or cool the whole hotel. It was hot, but you couldn't cool the room only heat it. So we had to sleep with the door open to get some fresh air. A pity in an other senior excellent hotel
Review 13:Immaculate hotel in a stunning location.greaat rooms
Review 14:They were closing the downstairs outside area and staff crashed the tables and chairs while tidying away. They did not care. Upstairs bar outside area was not manned so basically nowhere pleasant to sit. Also no beds by pool... For northern Europeans the climate in Nov is like our summer and we would have liked to lie by the pool.
Review 15:Location the best in Ronda. Massive room with incredible view. Excellent breakfast. Only criticism not all the staff are courteous..some are. Others are rude. Also both bars should be manned at all times in a hotel of this size .
Review 16:The staff could have been a little friendlier.
Review 17:The location of the hotel is wonderful - walking distance to everything in Ronda. The breakfast selection was superb.
Review 18:Very poor dinner in the restaurant. I sent the starter back twice and the main course was cold. Also the restaurant is very expensive for the quality of food produced - there are many much cheaper and better restaurants in the locality. Breakfast was however fine. No chairs/ beds located in the pool or garden area to sit and have coffee/ read.
Review 19:Location of the property and the view from the room.
Review 20:We had a job to find it! Earlier in out trip we stayed at the Parador, Carmona. There was a sign on the motorway so we knew where to get off. There were then signs all up through the town making it very easy to find. We expected the same in Ronda but no signs at all. There was no clear sign on the building itself. only in small writing on the pediment. We had to ask in the clearly marked hotel opposite!! It was dusk!!
Review 21:Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The setting is lovely and the view from our room was superb.
Review 22:Two things: Rooms facing northwest will face a lot of noise from the party crowd (at least during weekends). Charging 18€ per night for parking is pure robbery in addition to the steep room rates of the Parador.
Review 23:Fabulous views, situation, room layout, breakfast
Review 24:Apart from the views, once inside the hotel we could have been in a hotel of a comparable standard anywhere in the world. It had little character and no individuality. The food (one breakfast) was unremarkable.
Review 25:We liked the position and setting of the hotel
Review 26:Amazing location, just by the famous gorge and our room had an amazing view to the mountains. Bed linen and towels were so comfortable and special... The breakfast was also great.
Review 27:Dirt in corners of bathroom and staff at front desk should learn to smile, they act like they hate their job.
Review 28:Can't beat the location. Breakfast was very good.
Review 29:Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, but we found the restaurant staff cold and unwelcoming. There were no facilities for getting a drink or snack near the pool (which is very cold!) and the private hotel bar didn't open until 5pm, with only 4 tables on the terrace. I was expecting better facilities for this standard of hotel.
Review 30:We had a beautiful room with an incredible panoramic view. Location was great, overlooking the gorge. Breakfast was fantastic, high quality produce and plenty to choose from.
Review 31:We had a 'superior' room overlooking the valley, and I have to say it was the most spectacular view I have ever seen from a hotel room. Lovely balcony, big, roomy room, great bathroom, top breakfast.
Review 32:We had beautiful views looking across the Ronda Gorge and beyond. Excellent breakfast each morning and really helpful and friendly reception staff. The hotel is in a perfect position for visiting everything in the town.
Review 33:location is excellent! hotel is on the bridge, with very nice view. pretty and spacious room with balcony, everything in the room is just nice and clean. perfect bathroom and shower. room price is not cheap but it worth the money, afterall it is a 4star. a very comfortable stay, we should have stay longer. ronda is really beautiful.
Review 34:The extra charge for parking when paying for a suite in the hotel. The chef restaurant isn't good and too expensive for what you get
Review 35:Location and cleanliness
Review 36:Wifi. I had to put the user name & password in every time I wanted to read my emails - this is too time-consuming.
Review 37:The position of the parador on the gorge is amazing, beautiful views. Comfortable hotel, good breakfast. Enjoyed the outdoor pool too, even if it was a tad cold.
Review 38:Excellent location by the New Bridge and Gorge. Has underground car park. Very nice hotel. We had a large room with large bathroom. Lovely breakfast selection. Large patio area outside and small swimming pool. Very pleasant staff. Couldn't fault it. Would stay here again.
Review 39:Reception Staff were very formal. Curved Ramp to car park was narrow.
Review 40:Location with stunning view of The New Bridge and gorge. Swimming pool area and cafe also fronted onto the Tajo gorge. Car Parking convenient in central location. Great views from room balconies. Lovely bathroom.
Review 41:There really isn't much I didn't like - I suppose if I was going to be picky I would say the bathroom needed regrouting (I notice things like that).
Review 42:Great room, high ceilings, spacious and when you opened the large french windows and stood on the balcony the view was wonderful. The bed was comprised of 2 large single beds pushed together - really comfortable and roomy. The location of the Parador couldn't be better and although Rhonda is a very busy place this was a cool haven in the midst of it all. The breakfast was really nice and things that were running low was replaced straight away. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 43:The staff at reception seemed quite moody and uninterested both at check in, check out and when asking for directions/guidance. The wifi was free but kept logging out very frequently. Had to manually log back in by inserting details each time. Twin beds in rooms when we requested a double. Not enough sun loungers by the pool (maybe as few as half the number needed). Rooms were comfortably but could do with a refresh as many features were dated. Bathroom was nice. Everything was clean and comfortable. Balcony view was great.
Review 44:Excellent location immediately adjacent to Ronda's major landmark, with spectacular views, and bang in the centre of the old town. Breakfast was good.
Review 45:The wifi was annoying as you had to log in every time you used it. Also the hotel should make clear what number to dial for reception rather than having lots of different numbers. As we were looking for towels for the pool area and they said they were in the room not down at reception.
Review 46:Loved the location. The breakfast was good. And the pool area was lovely to relax in after a long day.
Review 47:The location of the hotel just beside the gorge, the varied breakfast, the general atmosphere of the hotel, the private underground parking, the spacious room with a garden in which the pool was situated, the lovely views from the terraces, garden and breakfast room.
Review 48:Glad it was a Fiat Punto I had to park and not a Range Rover. Tight fit to underground car park. It's a bonus you don't have to come back out that way!!
Review 49:Great location. Lovely rooms. Nice staff. Restaurant menu not to our taste but nice breakfast. We will definitely be back.
Review 50:If I were to go back I would definitely book a room with a mountain view. I did request this at the time of booking but our room didn't have much of a view at all.
Review 51:The location couldn't be better. Right in the centre of town and what a view!! The mountain and cliff top scenery is amazing. The view from the pool was something special too. We only stayed one night but would probably stay for longer in the future.
Review 52:Breakfast buffet was simple
Review 53:Veiw from balcony was fantastic. We could enjoy the Nuebo bridge and scenery as much as we want, without any bothers. Perfect location!
Review 54:Having to leave :(
Review 55:This hotel is in the most beautiful location. The hotel itself is lovely, dont stay anywhere else in Ronda. The staff were friendly, the rooms lovely, we had a view over the gorge. The food in the restaurant was very good. Cant fault this place. Swam in the pool, very nice.
Review 56:At check out was told there was an 8 Euro charge for breakfast that we didn't know was part of the booking. Instead we paid for our coffees and weren't reimbursed for it or had the charge erased. When I told the man behind the counter that we should have been informed on check in, he said he usually does tell people. Hotel staff not very service friendly.
Review 57:Location perfect as you sit right next to the gorge.
Review 58:Terrible wifi, hotel is not as beautiful on the inside, tired interior, no service at pool. But the worst part was that our a/c in the room somehow was connected with the kitchen causing a terrible smell of food all day long! Apparently this was a known problem but has still not been fixed!!
Review 59:Great location
Review 60:There was nothing we have not liked.
Review 61:The location: just in the middle of the old town and facing the Punte Nove. Lovely view and all the facilities one could need.
Review 62:I was only there for one night Wifi wasn't very good Pillows weren't the best No kettle
Review 63:Friendly staff, fantastic room, when we come back we want room 123!! What views, fantastic breakfast!
Review 64:Staff upgraded us to a room with a view of the gorge for a modest increase in price, which was worth every penny. Very professional staff and facilities.
Review 65:Tired decor in rooms, sunlounger on terrace broken, very small tv in room, very limited minibar, wifi was free but reception was poor, bed uncomfortable, breakfast average, Air con did not work properly (or was just not very good)... the list goes on. I expect more from a so called 4 star hotel, especially at the price.
Review 66:Location.
Review 67:Ground floor Bar area not opened until 17.00, leaving the only place to have a lunch time snack or afternoon tea in a dark bar area in the basement. Also inability to order anything not specified on bar menu! Bright red entrance facia out of place here.
Review 68:Location near to city centre & with wonderful scenery + dinner very good quality
Review 69:Ronda is a little out of the way to get to.
Review 70:small town feel; lot of historical buildings. Dinner across the valley looking at the hotel, bridge and vineyards was spectacular.
Review 71:Nothing this was an excellent hotel and restaurant.
Review 72:The facade looks old but once you pass under the entrance arch you are greeted by a modern hotel. Reception had me booked in and informed of the local attractions within 5 minutes. Room was large and very well appointed. This is a tourist Mecca and the hotel does not rely on repeat customers but they haven't let standards slip. The evening meal which starts at 8:30 pm was one of the nicest meals I've had in a long time. Service by the staff was excellent and the presentation of all the courses couldn't be faulted. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveller. The original character is kept in these Paradors in the case of Ronda it is the old wooden floors which creak a bit but I like that I suppose some wouldn't but then don't book a Parador.
Review 73:Restaurant was excellent. We ordered a bottle of wine that, after one glass, we decided we didn't like and asked for a different bottle. Although we were happy to pay for it, they insisted there was no charge. Food was really good and beautifully presented.
Review 74:The overall ambience. The excellent views from our two balconies. The comfort and peace and quiet of our room (great for catching up on quality sleep) with a separate lounge area (room to move and feel you're not on top of each other). Comfortable and relaxed downstairs indoor and outdoor lounge. Perfectly positioned for everything and excellent value for money.
Review 75:I booked this hotel for my mom. We both loved it. Panoramic views from terrace & friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Nice lounge in the garden. Unforgettable memories in Ronda. :D
Review 76:Internet capability was not working too well.
Review 77:The view from the balcony over the gorge, facing west was fabulous, so make sure you are on this side of the hote not facing the street
Review 78:We loved this hotel. The property is beautiful and the rooms are large, especially by European standards. Even though we booked just a standard room, we had a small balcony and wonderful view.
Review 79:No kettle or complimentary bottle of water inside the room.
Review 80:The room is comfortableand spacious with a nice balcony accessing to the grass and swimming pool. The breakfast is rich and u can enjoy stunning view from the breakfast place.
Review 81:No tea or coffee facilities in room. I like a cup of tea during the night. Most English people enjoy a cup of tea first thing in morning.
Review 82:Room with a view
Review 83:Nothing.
Review 84:The most incredible location on the edge of the gorge! Very comfortable, fantastic buffet breakfast, excellent facilities and both helpful and charming staff.
Review 85:Can't bring you own wine to dinner
Review 86:Excellent dinner menu Generous breakfast Comfortable beds Perfect location Gorgeous views Convenient Parking
Review 87:We were charged for breakfast even though we had not booked it and we didn't have it. Our booking confirmation said we should pay 100.01€ for the room and 18€ for parking. We were charged 137.98€ which included 12.54€ tax. Both reception and checkout staff members didn't (or wouldn't) speak understandable English so we couldn't argue and paid. Overall, we were not impressed and wouldn't recommend this hotel. This was our only bad experience in 6 weeks or prebooked accommodation
Review 88:The location and parking
Review 89:I thought the front desk could have been a bit more friendly - not unfriendly just seemed a bit bothered (Francisco). I was expecting a pretty high quality hotel - the comfort of bed did not meet that expectation. Seemed like an old mattress. I wanted something to eat past 11pm and nothing was available in the hotel. I would think a 4 star hotel in Spain would still have something available to eat until at least 1am. I was told I could go across the street to a bar. I wanted to stay and enjoy my hotel stay not leave at 11pm.
Review 90:Breakfast was amazing and location can not be beat. Wood floors in room and balcony was very warm and inviting.
Review 91:The front desk was slow in check in and check out. Two people behind the desk but only one actually helping customers. Waited both times about 15 to 20 minutes to checkin and check out. Checking out they wanted a survey done- no time to do that after waiting so long. Oh and booked two rooms and they only had one room.
Review 92:The location is awesome Breakfast very good and nice with amazing views
Review 93:Rooms are old and in desparate need of renovation. The airco in our room blasted air from the kitchen extractor fan so the room smelled like a KFC.
Review 94:location is superb, right at one of the most spectacular locations in Andalucia and probably Spain.
Review 95:The rooms were lovely we had a great view and a balcony. The food in the restaurant was excellent in the evening and the breakfast too was good apart from the tea
Review 96:WIFI wasn't working properly, and it's very weak and slow. The carpet looks really dirty and the air-con wasn't working.
Review 97:Unbeatable location.
Review 98:The wifi was annoying as you had to constantly log back in and it was very slow.
Review 99:We only booked the cheapest room but were given a room with an amazing view over the countryside. The room was very large and comfortable and we had a patio with table and chairs.
Review 100:room amenities are very basic. especially the quality of toilet paper very poor. Not quite up the the usual Parador standard, as it is.
Review 101:location was good. breakfast was quite good.
Review 102:Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 103:Beautiful room with incredible views! Very accommodating for gluten free needs... had a large selection of gluten free items for dinner and breakfast including gluten free breads and muffins. Best gluten free selection we've ever seen at a hotel.
Review 104:Checking in a 2pm there was a large queue and only 2 staff members on. The queue got longer as we waited. Needs to be staffed better at this busy time.
Review 105:Stunning location. Quiet room with balcony overlooking the local park.
Review 106:I did not like that Booking.com had not passed on our preference for a double room so we got a twin. We then had to upgrade to a duplex in order to get a double bed. The duplex was very clean except for some lamps where they had not dusted for a while. It was handy to have a garage to park the car but we felt that 18 Euros per day was rather pricey.
Review 107:The Parador is in an excellent location, the old and new town are within easy walking distance. The setting by the El Tajo gorge is spectacular. We had a duplex which was like a mini flat, it was wonderful. It was very spacious with a big terrace leading off the bedroom. The breakfast was great with loads of choice and my favourite, they even had churros. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 108:It was such a fantastic location. Just next to the Ronda Bridge. The view from my room was not a bridge view. It was for the field. but I prefer the field view. it made me feel calm and in peace.
Review 109:Couldn't have chosen a better location and staff were lovely. The only thing was the rock hard twin beds instead of a double and was gutted I didn't get a higher room with a view overlooking the bridge. Would stay again for sure!
Review 110:The instruction and picture of room type is very confusing on Booking website, we would like to have a room with a view of the bridge but we were told that this is not the type of room we book. This is a honey moon but we got a two twin bed!
Review 111:The hotel is nice and the room is large. we got a balcony room with nice sunshine. Location is perfect.
Review 112:Didn't realise that some rooms are bedside busy ish road with very limited views. Be aware the superior doubles do not seem to come up on the booking.com website. Phone the hotel or email and ask to upgrade. The superior rooms are simply stunning the standard rooms are not
Review 113:The location is magnificent. Wifi is pretty quick. Staff are helpful but can't work miracles. Everyone wants a view and not all rooms have this
Review 114:Lacking in staff in the bar area and dining room. It has a big new, rather glossy interior so lacks charm and atmosphere
Review 115:Lady on reception was excellent as indeed was the lady in the dinning room Hotel parking was excellent but far too expensive As usual a great Parador breafkfast
Review 116:We found the hotel clean, perfectly situated with views to die for.The staff were really helpful and the choice at breakfast was superb, couldn't fault it.
Review 117:The hotel was easy to access and has it's own parking. Nice and warm for late December. Breakfast included in the price was a bonus otherwise 18 euros is a bit much.
Review 118:Expensive parking 18 euros night Found the staff to be miserable Couldn't get a coffee in reception area in the morning .... Amazingly Wifi hard work to keep logged Bathroom smelt of drains and was just offered a smaller room Basically for the price it should have been better !!
Review 119:Location Comfortable bed
Review 120:Pharmacy right on entrance next to that McDonalds so there were nearly always a car blocking enrance, also terrible smell from sewer inside hotel, seriously over priced
Review 121:Only the location
Review 122:the rooms should recieve some upgrade or remodelling due to the age of furniture / carpet in corridors creating a lot of allergy-dust particels that glued to the shoes and were then brought into the room
Review 123:location / a hotel with some old charm / the balcony overlooking the landscape
Review 124:Room photos shown on internet were better than real room. Room was run down. A bit disappointed.
Review 125:Location is very close to the new bridge. Helpful staff.
Review 126:Parking under the hotel was extra & expensive but secure. Having to leave!
Review 127:Fantastic location. Views from our room were great looking out across the valley to the mountains beyond. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of foods on offer & was very good.
Review 128:We stayed in December - the room was hot and stuffy and temperature difficult to control. The pillow was the all-in-one, thin and very uncomfortable type. Would have preferred to have the option of a cooler room and an extra pillow and blanket.
Review 129:The hotel is right next to the bridge so very convenient for the centre of Ronda. Parking is conveniently situated under the hotel.
Review 130:Rooms and fittings a little dated and worn and need updating. Parking expensive. Very poor attitude of reception staff at checkout... Had to demand my credit card receipt after paying, which left a bad taste after an otherwise enjoyable 2 night stay.
Review 131:Location and views Large rooms and decent sized balconies Breakfast
Review 132:We arrived very late until mid night. The reception staff can't speak English. There's no free water and water boiler in the room.
Review 133:Location and breakfast is very good.
The Fine Print
