Reviews for Grand Hôtel

Review 1:The heating works quite good during the day but not that good in the night. The breakfast can be improved a lot.

Review 2:The room is clean and quite. The stuff are friendly and helpful.

Review 3:* bathroom was quite small * best parking was not specified; we did find an underground parking nearby, but it cost us € 30,50 for one night; tip for the hotel/Booking.com: maybe you can give a small overview of parkings nearby that are not too expensive to future guests

Review 4:* breakfast okay (basic French breakfast but certainly enough) * clean room an bathroom * good wifi connection * ideal location to visit the center of Orléans and its historical buildings

Review 5:Bathroom so small you couldnt' swing a cat ; telephone didnt work; air vent didnt work : wi-fi didnt work .Thin walls led to poor nights sleep

Review 6:Staff were friendly and helpful

Review 7:Ideally located in heart of Orleans - transport not needed. We only had one night there but it was good value. The lift between floors was most welcomed. The staff were excellent and most helpful.

Review 8:Difficulties using the phone in the bedroom to get an outside line to call England.

Review 9:Friendly and helpful staff. No noise disturbance from within the hotel.

Review 10:Bedding had stains on and did not smell clean. One of the rooms we had smelt pretty awful.

Review 11:Excellent location, 2 mins walk into the main square. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking is provided in a nearby carpark for €9.00 for 24 hours. Some of the rooms seemed to have been decorated and were equipped with fans in the roof. Others though we're shabby.

Review 12:We paid extra for a comfort room and were given a dark/smelly triple room, when we complained we were then given another triple room with a corner aspect, which was a slight improvement. When we complained that this was still not a double room we were told to speak to the " boss" in the morning, this was a complete waste of time as all we got was a Gallic shrug.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Bastille Day, a lot of things I had come to see had been closed, but I left baggage at reception and went down to the J'eanne d'Arc house on my last morning before the train,so made up for it after all.

Review 15:I enjoyed the close proximity to the town, and the staff were very good, and helpful to someone trying very hard with the language. Breakfast good, with the right amount of choices

Review 16:A very small outdated room . No airco and we needed one as the temperatures were 38 . We could smell the room used to be a smoking room. Better change the courtains and the floor!

Review 17:The staff is nice.

Review 18:Shower screen leaked so the bathroom floor and carpet got quite wet. We had a triple bed room which was a bit small and third single bed was a bit uncomfortable.

Review 19:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Central location meant we could explore the city and find a restaurant easily.

Review 20:The mattresses are terrible, impossible for a couple to sleep well. A few other things could be better, as the toiletries and maybe put a minibar on the comfort suites, at least.

Review 21:The comfort rooms have a good size and the hotel is clean. Wifi works fine. Staff is nice.

Review 22:smoking guests in corridor, screaming couples in the rooms next to us. reaction of reception the next morning: some people smoke we cannot do anything. Would not go again.

Review 23:The breakfest was ok, but not more. The breakfest room had seen better days.

Review 24:Value for money. Ok room. Good bed. Good internet. The receptionist was wery friendly and helpfull.

Review 25:They were open while remodeling the front desk but they did not warn us when we reserved it the day before. A really dirty mess. We were the only guests in the hotel. At night the staff leaves and we were alone in the whole building, a little scary. The bed was bad with a mattress that got really hot, like a memory foam. The bathroom really smelly.

Review 26:The location is good

Review 27:Nothing I disliked.

Review 28:The staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very handy for the train station and the centre. It was very clean and great value for money.

Review 29:It was bit noisy but not the owners fault it was the people on the street where the hotel was situated . The decoration is a bit dowdy and needs to be brightened up with pastel shades however this is not important in the overall score my on personal opinion

Review 30:Really convenient for the old town and railway station. The owner was so pleasant and helpful and went out of his way to help us as we had a potential problem with SCNF with our bike. Breakfast was good and we very neat to some good restaurants one of which the owner had suggested.

Review 31:Toilet leak problem so there was a dreadful smell and power outage occurred during stay.

Review 32:Staff were helpful and informative. Location of hotel was good. Breakfast area had been updated and had new crockery and cutlery.

Review 33:Wifi was intermittent at best No bar soap in bathroom, only liquid soap dispensers.

Review 34:Location to Town Centre Parking garage is 9 euro for 24 hours but no in/out privileges

Review 35:Thin walls - noisy neighbors woke me during the night.

Review 36:The price was very competitive and the hotel was located one minute away from the main square. Friendly and efficient staff, and a good basic breakfast.

Review 37:Hotel was as expected and good, although we used the Tex Mex restaurant next door and it wasn't good...

Review 38:Staff were very helpful and we managed to park right outside which was a bonus. Location was also excellent.

Review 39:If I has to say something then it would be the shower cubicle was to small.

Review 40:Location was great and so was the comfort and helpful staff

Review 41:Car parking distant and far from convenient.

Review 42:Close to centre

Review 43:location city centre

Review 44:small room unclean no reception service after 22:00 Wifi did not work in the room

Review 45:The staff had very pleasant and helpful attitudes. For me that is the most important aspect of service.

Review 46:Central located,frendly & helpful staff,fast wifi

Review 47:Very convenient for visiting the centre of Orleans. Parking nearby. Helpful reception.

Review 48:No airconditioning

Review 49:the hotel being very close to the center

Review 50:Great location. Comfortable bed. Lovely staff.

Review 51:very friendly! everything perfect!

Review 52:Small rooms

Review 53:Location (close to center City) Parking for Car

Review 54:Great location, very clean, quite large room (room for 3), huge window. Staff speaks English!

Review 55:Location in town centre!

Review 56:Access a bit difficult

Review 57:Proximity to points of central interest and good restaurants

Review 58:Small room, smell from outside, no AC.

Review 59:Location only, friendly stuff.

Review 60:It was near the station and centre of town so perfect when travelling without the car

Review 61:nothing

Review 62:very central.

Review 63:The shower stank, until it was used

Review 64:Good location

Review 65:Courteous friendly staff; great location close to the main city attractions at an affordable prize.

Review 66:The location is excellent. Hotel staff was freindly and kind.

Review 67:-very clean -good internet -location couldn't be better -friendly staff

Review 68:Room was basic.

Review 69:Great location, room was basic and staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.

Review 70:Walls are a little on the thin side as you can hear people next door quite clearly.

Review 71:Friendly helpful staff, very central and comfortable bed.

Review 72:very nice hotel and very helpful staff.

Review 73:Old hotel with poor facilities. Needs renovation

Review 74:Short walk to the center and close to bars etc.

Review 75:Size of towels in bathroom ..too small

Review 76:Reception by Anne Marie was excellent and very helpful.

Review 77:Clean, small rooms, but absolutely good place to stay for a while

Review 78:You have to ask for an internet code every 24 hours!

Review 79:It's located in front of the train station. Staff is very nice.

Review 80:good location, staff friendly and helpfull

Review 81:No secure parking.

Review 82:Location bathroom

Review 83:No aircon, but this seemed to be the case in all our stops on our road trip. Having to leave the windows open did let in some street noise. Maybe a ceiking or pedastal fan would be helpful. This did not spoil our night, however.

Review 84:Right in the heart of the okd town. The guy on the desk was very helpful. His eglish was very good which helped. Discount on the overnight parking was helpful and much appreciated. The room was neat and tidy but a little small for three, but comfortable enough for one night. The lift was a bonus and the price was great.

Review 85:The walls of the room must have been paper thin because I could hear a person snoring and going to the toilet in an adjacent room.

Review 86:The hotel was within easy reach of the train station, the Cathedral, the main square and the old town. The staff on the front desk were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was a good size and comfortable

Review 87:The breakfast was a great disappoinment - very meagre choice. The parking arrangements were too casual, and the discount arrangement on the secure car park was not offered when we arrived The hotel map does not give any idea about the complex one way systems in Orleans which are a nightmare!

Review 88:very central location.

Review 89:The décor was tired and it was obviously focusing on the elderly/retired market. If we were staying longer than 1 night as a family with young and older children I would have been very worried.

Review 90:The location was ideal, close to shops, cathedral and eating places. The receptionist was very helpful as when she saw the age and size of my son she moved us to a larger room foc.

Review 91:More 2 star than 3 star, but other positive aspects compensate.

Review 92:Excellent location, helpful staff who went to great trouble to find a necklace one of our children had lost in the room, and reasonable pricing.

Review 93:Room was small and decor a bit tired.

Review 94:Central location. Easy to find. Parking was an issue but should be better once they finish rebuilding the centre of town. It will also improve the sight-seeing potential of this pretty little town.

Review 95:Very noisy at night with lots of shouting going on until the early morning, think most of this is from the restaurant below. Don't be there on a Sunday as there are very few places open to eat. Rooms were not what we expected, rather small.

Review 96:Good location, nice breakfast.

Review 97:Charged credit card prior to arrival when booking.com indicated it wouldbe payable on arrival. I only use credit card for reservation and usetravel card for payment

Review 98:Pleasant receptionist

Review 99:I particularly liked the staff, very welcoming, friendly and useful with good tips. The hotel has a good location, between the train station and the city center within walking distance. The hotel is ok, the rooms are ok, clean. But it is not particularly romantic and it lacks charm. It is just a fair hotel for a fair price. But if you are looking for a French charming experience, it does not do it. It is just a normal hotel.

Review 100:Very friendly staff and receptionist (Anne-Marie). Made to feel very welcome. Very happy overall and would certainly recommend. Cycle-friendly, as you would expect in France!

Review 101:Rooms were small and one room in particular was smelly. The towels provided by the hotel were very small. Public parking was available but lugging cases to and from the hotel was a nuisance there being little room to park outside the hotel.

Review 102:Centrally located, staff friendly and helpful. Good for an overnight stop or short break but not for longer stays.

Review 103:Room too hot, no aircon and you couldnt open the window because of the noise from the station (all night!). The receptionist was very unhelpful

Review 104:Excellent room, very clean, comfortable and up to date. Easy to find.

Review 105:The room was cramped (Family room). No air conditioning just a small fan. The breakfast was rather poor with almost stale rolls and croissants, little choice of offerings such as ham and cheeses. The hotel is shut between 12 to 3pm which was inconvenient for longer stay customers.

Review 106:The Staff were very good and friendly

Review 107:Nothing I can think of as everything was fantastic.

Review 108:I booked this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend who had stayed there. I wanted a good central location. It's also clean and looks newly done, especially the bathrooms. Beds were comfortable. I will gladly thank my friend for this great hotel recommendation and pass it along to the next person!

Review 109:Stayed here once before--now it's even better than the first time I stayed there since rooms have all been completely renovated. Good service, nice people, clean, comfortable, great location.

Review 110:In the information on the web it states that private parking is possibleon site but this is not the case. Parking was in the public undergroundcar park in the square about 10 minutes walk and this made unloadingsuitecases difficult as the entrance to the hotel is in a narrow one wayside strreet.

Review 111:The conveniance of being in the centre of town

Review 112:I have stayed at this hotel several times and have noticed how much carethey take--every year, more and more rooms are upgraded, as well as thebathrooms. It has always been a very clean hotel, but with all the newupgrades, it feels like a brand new hotel at this point!Customer service is excellent--this is why I have even taken tour groups here. All my clients have been very satisfied. There are many choices for breakfast--cereal, yogurt, bread, croissants, etc... Another reason I chose the hotel is that I am familiar with this city and know that some of the hotels closest to the train station and shopping are in fact, too close....meaning that I don't always feel quite safe in the neighborhood. This one is still plenty close to the train station and very centrally located in the city itself, but is on a quiet enough street (and I feel, a safer one)....noise is not the same kind of issue it is just one street over! So great location, great new rooms

Review 113:Slow WiFi. A crack in the window glass. Thin walls. Power outletslocated inconveniently. Bathroom door can't be closed. Wardrobe withoutdoor. Low water pressure in the shower.

Review 114:Good location: town centre, all notable tourist attractions and thetrain station are in the walking distance, a lot of places to eatnearby. Nice and helpful stuff. Separate bathroom and toilet. Bathroomis new and quite decent.

Review 115:The hotel room's wall is not sound proof. So you can hear the sound from the neighbor room.

Review 116:good communication and breakfast was good and hotel staffs were friendly.

Review 117:Staff person who checked us in was very informative, friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Location ideal.

Review 118:It is old fashioned and in need of renovation. Breakfast very limited.

Review 119:Its position is close to the town centre

Review 120:I have found here what I was looking for - a little clean hotel in the center of city

Review 121:Everything

Review 122:Beds not very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 123:Great location parking very nearby!

Review 124:Pleasant staff. Ready to accomodate making breakfast available for me on last morning at 6.30 am instead of normal time of 7.00 am

Review 125:Room was rather small with beds of 1.80 m

Review 126:Location was perfect
