Reviews for Hotel Saint-Aignan
Review 1:Street noise in the evening ... but I expect this from city centre locations so would not let this stop me from returning and with the windows closed it was not a problem anyway. Had the windows open though so woke up a couple of times to the sounds of sirens from emergency vehicles.
Review 2:Super location within easy walk of the main square, old town, the trams, shopping streets, cathedral, restaurants, McDonalds and a supermarket just 5 mins walk for emergency supplies! The river was a 15 minute briskish walk, but a pleasant walk on a balmy evening. Hotel staff were simply brilliant - so helpful, courteous ... nothing was too much trouble. Private car park was secure, though we chose to use on street parking just around the corner. Breakfast was simple but ample and good value for money - cold buffet but with a choice of meats, cereals, boiled egg, as well as usual breads and fruits, juice, hot drinks etc. Room was spacious, well equipped, good sized shower room, good shower, plenty of hot water. True there was no air con, but we had windows opening on to the back of the hotel, so were fine with them open at night. Lifts to all floors, though two steps between lift from entrance to first floor reception area. Felt secure returning to hotel during the day and evening. Hire bikes for cycling round city right were located right in front of hotel, along with bus stop. Would return here without hesitation.
Review 3:our Sprint international plan did not work to call them about parking facilities, but we ended up using the free public parking on the street, 3mn walking distance and easy pick up at front of hotel on next day, rather than the possible EUR.15 in city parking offered by hotel when you ask the question.
Review 4:see our good parking story due to bad Sprint connection / plan
Review 5:The staff weren't around all the time and there was some waiting. But, really this wasn't an issue. I'm only sharing so people know to wait.
Review 6:The staff were lovely and really helpful. The location is great and with a tram stop about 5 minutes away, you can get further away pretty cheaply (or if you have small kids, no need for a stroller).
Review 7:15 Euro per night for parking was very, very expensive. 48 pounds taken out of our account rather than 43. extra taxes to be paid and VAT. They charges us 6.97 euro, the adult rate for a little boys breakfast, he ate a piece of bread and a bit of jam. less than 50 cents worth I'd say. He tried to charge us the same for a 4 year old girl who ate nothing. It cost us an extra 40.40 euros just for the hotel for 1 night. taking it to 99.40. overall I believe that we were well ripped off
Review 8:kids liked the bunk beds
Review 9:Small flight of stairs to get to lift.
Review 10:Value for money , spacious and clean rooms. Close to rail station, but be aware so close that taxi will not take your there. If arriving by rail you may have to walk with luggage..about 400 metres. Check map if you dont speak French. Has car parking..but I dont think its free.
Review 11:Excellent location next to the train station and a mere 10 min. walk from the city centre, friendly service, check-in at 3PM (other hotels I looked at had 5PM), spacious room, clean bathroom, reasonably priced. I didn't use WiFi or breakfast, so no idea about those.
Review 12:Although I asked specifically for a 'quite room', I found that my sleep was disturbed frequently by noisy pedestrians heading back from the city centre, and by the occupant of the room upstairs who seemed to be walking around throughout the night. Also, in the morning, my wife and I had to struggle with the shower head to prevent it from spraying the floor. Would I come back here? No, I think I'd probably pay more money and stay somewhere quieter and smarter.
Review 13:The hotel was easy to find, the staff were helpful, breakfast was plentiful, the hotel was clean (although the outside and the inside looked very dated) and, at 89 euros for three people for one night, what more could we expect?
Review 14:It was very basic but this is reflected in the cost
Review 15:The hotel was pretty basic but the staff were very welcoming and very helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was great for exploring the old town. We would stay again.
Review 16:It was very hot in the room
Review 17:Friendly staff Room with 5 beds (hard to find in France!) Brilliant location so that you can make more of your overnight stop and have a real break from the driving
Review 18:Full marks to Charlie on reception. (Remembered him from last yr.) We arrived late and dressed after a 5 he delay by Le Shuttle. Arrived 11pm. Had to ring to inform hotel. Charlie promptly took my husband to carpark and helped bring up luggage. Also would not take a tip and gave us free bottled water. How kind. Had pleasant stay on our way to South France.
Review 19:€9 was a bit expensive for a fairly basic breakfast - not even any proper croissants!
Review 20:The room was comfortable and the hotel was really well situated close to a range of different bars and restaurants. These were helpfully pointed out by an excellent receptionist.
Review 21:1) Bad sound isolation 2) The cleaning staff has once forgotten to close the door to my room
Review 22:Very friendly people working there, the hotel not very expensive, the location is perfect - really close to the train station. The breakfasts I didn't take, so nothing to say. The room is cozy and neat, there were two beds in a single room - I could have invited a friend to stay :)) One of the beds was really big, as if for two people, so I had a really nice time sleeping on this big bed
Review 23:close to old town
Review 24:Great manager -- reopened breakfast after 10am because I slept in late. Excellent internet bandwidth.
Review 25:lobby and stairwells need a bit of attention
Review 26:nice rooms and bathrooms
Review 27:No tea/coffee making facilities
Review 28:Staff were helpful and accomodating
Review 29:Quality of the bed. Terrible!
Review 30:Close to city centre.
Review 31:Nil
Review 32:Friendliness of the owners was terrific - extremely welcoming and helpful.
Review 33:Rooms and toilets were a bit smelly
Review 34:Good price, free parking places opposite hotel
Review 35:The room (for four people) was a bit small.
Review 36:Close to the city center, excellent underground parking, friendly staff.
Review 37:Convienance
Review 38:15 euro parking charge per night
Review 39:Very helpful staff
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 42:Very basic breakfast, no bar.
Review 43:Easy 10 min walk from city centre, clean and comfortable rooms, helpful staff.

Review 45:atmosphere wasn´t really nice, but Ok
Review 46:friendly staff, quiet
Review 47:All ok staff on desk helpful
Review 48:The staff were ever so friendly and helpful!
Review 49:Staff Parking Location
Review 50:price is expensive. parking fee is 15 EUR not for free
Review 51:clean and quite, good staff
Review 52:Could hear couples doing things in rooms nearby, not ideal when you're travelling with young children
Review 53:Location, staff
Review 54:No parking lot.
Review 55:Breakfast, size of a room, calm, location.
Review 56:English Speaking Manager Very helpful and supportive
Review 57:no airco
Review 58:price centra location
Review 59:not very attractive building of hotel from outside
Review 60:Location: close to railway station and city centre
Review 61:nothing
Review 62:Friendly helpful staff
Review 63:- in order to get to the underground parking you have to first check-in and ask to open the gate
Review 64:- room was big and very clean - friendly staff
Review 65:It is in need of some restoration
Review 66:It was well placed
Review 67:The connection for Internet wasn't reliable, so don't be reliant on that.
Review 68:Great location and easy access to the main square, place du martoi. It was something we just needed for a couple of days but it did the job just fine.
Review 69:Nothing really. We're travelling on a budget and the hotel, while not the Ritz, was very good.
Review 70:Excellent value for money and very well located just near the station. The gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and very helpful.
Review 71:Not enough info on operation of the TV, I would have liked a kettle to make a cup of coffee after a day sightseeing in the city. The radiator wasn't working all that well when the temp was very low outside.
Review 72:The luxury bathroom
Review 73:Excellent hotel. Very helpful on arrival with local information on where to head on a quite Sunday night to find bars and restaurants. Facilities good and everything worked
Review 74:Welcoming and informative reception. Requested a quiet room and this was provided. Central location. Optional breakfast - I left too early to take advantage. Comfy two days here. Good value.
Review 75:Nothing to complain about
Review 76:Great position in town centre. 5 minute walk to the station and 10 minute stroll to the many restaurants in town. I liked everything, great value for what I paid.
Review 77:On arrival, access to reception was dingy and smelly, reception was always unattended, but reaction to bell was quite quick. Lifts are small and two are needed to get from too expensive car park. Bed cover was dirty. Chose this hotel due to pictures of bedroom/bathroom and reduced price. Was disappointed with hotel at reduced price, can't believe that this hotel tries to charge over £200 for a double room....then charges extra for parking
Review 78:Bathroom was excellent and room was fine, but these seemed to be a different hotel than the rest of the building. Location was fine for access into into centre of town.
Review 79:nothing, great hotel !!
Review 80:great and helpfull staff, good breakfast, well sized room for the four of us, very convenient secure parking, great value for money
Review 81:Reception and stairwells a bit tatty and stale-smelling. Slightly odd lift situation a bit confusing.
Review 82:Great bathroom, comfy bed, reasonable breakfast, fantastic, helpful staff. Reasonably central location. Parking on-site.
Review 83:Be aware of the low roof of the car park if you have a roof box or bikes on top.
Review 84:Stayed last year for one night on way through France and liked it so much we decided to do it again this year! Staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast is very good, and location on Orlean is excellent.
Review 85:Very few car parking spaces available in tight underground shared car park. Nowhere near same standard as rest of hotel
Review 86:Very positive friendly service provided. Clearly well invested in, with clean modern decoration. Nice family room, with great modern bathroom & shower. Good choice of foods with continental breakfast. And a great location, being about 5 min walk to the centre of the old town.
Review 87:We could have benefitted from a fan/air con in the room as with four of us sharing it was a warm night!
Review 88:Hotel was easy to find and 5 minutes walk from the town centre, restaurants and historic sites. There was payable underground parking beneath the hotel which we reserved in advance. The staff were very helpful.
Review 89:The coffee from the machine at breakfast. But that's being picky - for a two star hotel I really couldn't fault it.
Review 90:Great location for the city-centre, and easy to find on arrival. Welcoming and helpful staff, and our room was generous in size.
Review 91:The staff was not very friendly, the bathroom was not in the cleanest condition, there was not AC in the room wich makes of the room a sauna during the summer nights
Review 92:The hotel was located far from the Canal, which is great counting that around the canal id full of flies and mosquitoes.
Review 93:The location of the hotel is great, near to main train station and city centre. Staffs were very helpful and friendly, especially Dave and the housekeeping ladies.
Review 94:Hotel itself could not fault, but only downside was on the first night on our return from our eveing drinks and meal there were 4 tramps hanging around the entrance to the hotel who harrassed us for money. They did not get anything from us. Luckily there was a code to get into the hotel lobby.
Review 95:Great staff. Particularly Chuck, who greeted us on arrival and guided us to the underground carpark. Then after check-in gave us a map and guide to walk into town. Left the car for the two days. The breakfasts were very good.
Review 96:Car park expensive (15.00 Euro/Night), room basic and quite small, very warm during summer months, no aircon.
Review 97:Good location, very friendly staff, spacious car park, sufficientbreakfast buffet at very acceptable price (9.00 Euro P.P.), renovatedbathroom, WiFi of good reception and speed in room.
Review 98:Very friendly reception with nothing too much trouble. Help with bags, parking, etc. Well refurbished rooms with good bathrooms. Good breakfast. Very central for Orleans.
Review 99:Central location, ease of street parking in a big city, near railway station and all Orleans sites, lift (elevator) to access all floors, helpful staff
Review 100:Small double bed.
Review 101:Difficult to find on-street parking but underground car park at €9 wellworth it for safety, security and convenience. Very close to centre ofOrleans, ie restaurants, cathedral, museums and delightful old town.Recently refurbished bathroom very clean though room relatively smallwith extra single bed in it. Ideal for short stay in centre of city.
Review 102:Staff was excellent and very friendly. The reception person specifically showed us where to park and even helped carry our bags from the car up to the desk.
Review 103:The location was excellent, close to the main part of the city. Service was prompt and friendly. With our limited French, we appreciated English speaking staff. The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern.
Review 104:-at first, I was not able to connect internet for some reason -it was difficult to adjust the temprature of hot water when I used shower
Review 105:-it was located close to the station -staff was kind enough
Review 106:The hotel outside is not very appealing - more like a block of flats, but the entrance is very smart. There seemed to be the sound of a generator cutting in and out all the time, but it didn't spoil our very good night's sleep.
Review 107:The location is good, near to the railway station, not too far walking from the shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and well furnished with lots of storage space. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom seemed to be brand new. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. The coffee was excellent, made from real coffee beans (not little plastic capsules), and plenty of it. St Aignan was a good stop over hotel for our journey south.
Review 108:The hotel is 2 blocks from the train station, an easy walk. It is across street from lovely church and at the start of the main street. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was abundant. Room was spacious and well appointed. Restaurants are nearby. It was a great experience.
Review 109:The really nice bathroom, proximity to train station and all sites of interest to visit but the best thing was the really nice young man (concierge) who welcomed us, helped us as English speaking visitors and showed great care and thought in his dealings with us. Wish I had got his name, but please say thank you to him.
Review 110:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quite comfortable as well. I had breakfast one of the days, and it was a nice spread for the 9 euros cost.
Review 111:Good situated near the Inner City within walking distance, easy to find. The staff was very friedly. We started here with the Loire-by-Bike-Tour and the staff helped to find a safe place for the bikes overnight.
Review 112:The road works outside made access a bit more difficult but that will pass.
Review 113:Great location - easy walk to Orleans town centre and Joan of Arc statue. Really helpful staff (thank you Chuck). Good value.
Review 114:Clearly in all respects a basic 2* and nothing more. Some maintenance underway so halls all shabby and dusty. Need to be accompanied for every trip to car, and breakfast whilst not sampled did not look good.
Review 115:Great service, and helpful late night check in, room clean and functional, parking (charged €10) next door. 5 mins walk to centre of Orleans.
Review 116:We booked this hotel as we needed a room for a family of 5 (2 adults, 7yr old and twin 4 yr olds) for a 1 night stop-over traveling from Calais to Montignac. Manager spoke sufficient english for us to communicate, as our french is terrible. He guided us down to the underground carpark, helped us with our bags and the incredibly tiny lift, and showed us where to walk to on the map for the places we needed. Breakfast was extra though very worthwhile, huge choice, delicious and fresh. Already planning to stay here again next year.
Review 117:Unfortunately the room was not air conditioned but should of checkedfirst before I booked, the room which slept 4 the beds were packed in tofit to singles either side of the double I would suggest if you want toshare more than 2 book another room and also which was nothing really todo with the hotel but I'll mention anyway. The road outside was gettingresurfaced when we was there and being woken up at 0752hrs is good.
Review 118:The guy on reception was very helpful totally offered to carry all thebags and was fully polite. The hotel had a very secure underground carpark which was only another 12 euros and keeps you at peace of mind. Thenext day we was allowed to check out and still leave our car safelyparked there until we finished doing all our stuff in the city. Pleasedo note when the lift says 4 people and 300 kilos it means it so do addup all the kilos if 4 of you are going in the lift or it will give you abit of a scare.
Review 119:The rooms could do with an update and the breakfast was on the budget side, we could have sourced breakfast in a local bar or Boulangerie
Review 120:We were extremely impressed with the receptionist who assisted us with parking, guided us where to go out in the evening and helped us work out our onward journey; he even refused to accept a tip! The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The location was 5 minutes walk from the centre.
Review 121:Nothing- for a stop over through France this hotel is perfect.
Review 122:The staff are what makes this hotel so wonderful. Jacque greeted us likelong, lost friends and after a long journey from Calais, this wasgreatly appreciated by us! We also used this hotel on our way back upfrom the South of France and received the same warm welcome. The roomswere clean and ther breakfast was great. We were also very pleased withthe location of the hotel as it was very easy to find.
Review 123:We had an awful car journey and did not arrive until 11pm. The receptionist was very helpful and accomodating and just what we needed for a stop over on way to the South of France.
Review 124:Chuck who greeted us and we saw throughout our short stay was absolutely fabulous. He made sure we had everything we needed and was extremely flexible with our requirements having three young children to care for. We arrived late at night and he had a parking space ready and waiting before swiftly guiding us to our room which was ideal for a family of five. He made the whole experience very pleasant for us all and was so welcoming, we would definitely stay there again.
Review 125:Too little to write about.
Review 126:Excellent hotel, very friendly & helpful staff. I arrived by motorcycle in the rain, the receptionist helped me into the garage and helped with my bags to my room even though I was a little early. Rooms are functional & clean & breakfast was plentiful & varied. Good price & ideal for a night or two.
