Reviews for Le Moulin de Lourmarin

Review 1:Front desk staff could learn how to smile and be helpful. I speak fluent French, even that was not enough.

Review 2:Great location and village to explore surrounding villages of interest.

Review 3:Poor facilities in rooms which were small. No wifi, no safe, no gowns, and rather in need of a makeover. Restaurant well below par for the town/region-you can do better in many other places. Does it earn 4*?

Review 4:Fabulous location right in the village centre. Pretty building, attractive layout and decor. Parking easy even though no allowed spaces

Review 5:In our room, the toilet was separated from the bathroom and it did not have a wash basin. That was really weird.

Review 6:The location was close to the restaurants in Lourmarin.

Review 7:Decor was shabby chic which made walls look dirty. Breakfast not included in price and way too expensive as an extra. No hotel parking but we easily got public parking opposites. Wifi only in public areas.

Review 8:Location in village, yet quiet.

Review 9:poor wifi connection - router often down, and reception unable to reconnect badly planned shower in bathroom - shower hard to control leading to flooding of the bathroom floor

Review 10:convenient position comfortable beds attractive views out over the nearby countryside and the chateau easy parking outside the hotel

Review 11:In experience of restaurant staff, waiter did not know how to pour a glass of wine. The price of the breakfast was way too expensive. No sink in the toilet.

Review 12:Comfort of the bed. Beautiful location. Food in the restaurant very good (we had the fillet of beef). Would go there again just for the food.

Review 13:The only issue, it would be nice to have wifi in the room, but it is good in the lounge though. As I mentioned I'm disabled. This hotel is no way suitable for wheelchair's!!

Review 14:Love the area of Lourmarin. Plus the hotel is fantastic with a superb restaurant. The staff simply could not do enough for us. As I'm disabled they made sure that our stay was a memorable one.

Review 15:Room was a little worn. Shower was what you get in most small European hotels. Breakfast was marginal.

Review 16:We really liked Lourmarin and feel that Le Moulin is a very good option in Lourmarin. It is near restaurants and is part of the village. That makes it worth staying.

Review 17:Positioning and type of shower uncomfortable and impractical.A further brighter lamp would be much appreciated. One of the light bulbs in the bathroom needed replacing.

Review 18:Comfort of bed and good linen and daily fresh towels. View from the windows. Excellent Dinner on our first night. Charming building, full of character.Being in the centre of the village.

Review 19:See above.

Review 20:A great hotel in a beautiful town. Large rooms, very good beds, spacious bathrooms, generous breakfasts, good restaurant. Staff most helpful and obliging. Wi-fi in the room would be good. Otherwise perfect.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:The staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful. I lucked out and stayed in one of the two rooms with in-room wifi. The bed was super comfortable with fluffy white pillows and duvet. There really is free parking all around, and it is a short walk to the city's center. Lourmarin was my favorite Provençal town--I don't think I even saw a tour bus!

Review 23:Possibly not best value for money, but there's no better option. Worth every spent cent.

Review 24:Situated at the center of the village, provides both wonderful opportunities for sightseeing and plain rest and enjoyment. The restaurant is nothing far from perfect - the foie gras is a must taste.

Review 25:No parking A shower that floods the bathroom, no matter how careful you are. A tired bathroom that needs refurbishment, especially at this price. The restaurant being unavailable to us 3 nights out of our 6 night stay

Review 26:Beautiful old oil mill Delightful village Lots of things to see and do within a day Lovely garden for eating al fresco Very good food

Review 27:I didn't like that the original chef/owner of the hotel has moved on, although he still owns the place. breakfast is very expensive, better to have it in the village.

Review 28:The spacious room and well-appointed bathroom. The location is near the center of the quaint village. Good food in the restaurant Elevator Friendly staff, willing to help

Review 29:The fact we only stayed there one night! It was a very lovely hotel. Breakfast was a little on the expensive side (18 euro per person), so we didn't have it.

Review 30:My husband and I love historical buildings and this venue certainly delivered! There were beautiful scents throughout the hotel and the staff were helpful and friendly (and forgiving of my very basic French!). Would recommend to anyone wanting to escape the larger cities to gorgeous French countryside.

Review 31:The restaurant was a disappointment. They did not know how to prepare medium rare steak!

Review 32:We liked the location - the historic ambiance, comfortable bedroom and bathroom.

Review 33:Parking

Review 34:Great location super room, lovely town

Review 35:Restaurant prohibitively expensive

Review 36:Location was excellent, lovely area and village, beautiful hotel with friendly staff.

Review 37:I wish I had a desk

Review 38:Nice room, good breakfast but expensive.

Review 39:Great location. Excellent front desk service. Half pension a reasonably decent deal mainly because the restaurant is so good.

Review 40:Fabulous hotel in a great location. Perfect base for touring Provence. Friendly staff and extremely helpful.

Review 41:Location

Review 42:Everything!

Review 43:Wifi only in the lobby, though intermittengly in our room

Review 44:The room and surroundings The restaurant was tops

Review 45:Wifi only at the reception and restaurant

Review 46:Location perfect, in village centre

Review 47:Parking was tricky.

Review 48:The beautiful scenery. good staff good size air conditioned room The most wonderful market on Sat ever. The best is Europe!

Review 49:No perticularily negative point.

Review 50:The overall quality of a holiday hotel.

Review 51:Comfortable room; lovely restaurant with excellent meals

Review 52:Great location and our room was very spacious and quiet. The staff were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommended.

Review 53:The restaurant was excellent.

Review 54:Perfect location. Parking was easy.

Review 55:Breakfast very expensive Nowhere to relax outside - all the garden devoted to dining area

Review 56:Lovely room Friendly and helpful staff

Review 57:nothing was great

Review 58:very central beautiful village great last minute price

Review 59:Parking is challenging and there is no real bellman. Upon arrival, lovely and petite Sandrina, who was on the front desk, helped us lug our bags (over our objections) and gave us a little help with parking too.

Review 60:The location is ideal for hanging out in Lourmarin and good for visiting other little towns in Provence. Also, the Friday Marchè begins about 100 feet outside of the front door and was the best Marchè that we have ever been to. Our room was spacious, the bed was very good as were the linens. The A/C functioned very well too. Most of all, the staff is the best!

Review 61:Hair dryer old. Terrible

Review 62:Great hotel, superb location. Our room had a wonderful view to the Castle of Lourmarin. Staff is very kind and helpful. The breakfast is quite expensive, but it's wonderful. Best hotel and best room that we've ever had.

Review 63:no parking (can be a problem during high season), no swimming pool or similar facilities

Review 64:We had a luxury room, spacious, clean, cozy, quiet, with a wonderful iron bed and view on the castle. Breakfast on the terrace under the trees. A wonderful chef prepares dinner, at reasonable prices.

Review 65:Sundays are busy in the restaurant so unless you book you won't be able to just sit and have a cup of tea.

Review 66:Delightful spot in Lourmarin 50 metres from the surprisingly buzzing centre of town where a group of cafes and culture all merge. This town has real personality and the hotel is right by it.

Review 67:The hotel could do with a bit of an upgrade and refurbishment.

Review 68:The Le Moulin de Lourmarin presents delicious dinners and comfortable rooms in an excellent location.

Review 69:Everything about Le Moulin de Lourmarin was wonderful. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The location was excellent. The room and common areas were very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it.

Review 70:Bathroom needed updating - no real shower, just a bath and a hand-held shower. It's the only reason I didn't rate comfort full marks. It's billed as a luxury hotel - it needs a proper shower facility.

Review 71:Extremely welcoming staff and fabulous location. We upgraded to a superior room and it was wonderful - loads of space and wonderful bed. Had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and the breakfasts were also wonderful.

Review 72:As a business traveler it is still disappointing to see that the Moulin has not extended its wifi provision to all the rooms.

Review 73:For the first time the restaurant was open when I stayed at the Moulin and the meal was very tasty and good.

Review 74:Still no internet provision for all the bedrooms

Review 75:The warm welcome and helpfulness of staff. The central location for exploring Lourmarin. Convenient parking outside hotel Good heating during cold winter days.

Review 76:Location right in the center of Lourmarin and a few steps from the castle, the staff is extremely efficient and friendly. Breakfast is great. Very good value for the money.

Review 77:The Wifi was present in the building BUT was not available in your room. Therefore to answer or write emails etc you had to leave your room to connect and use the internet.

Review 78:The staff person who greeted us was very nice and helpful. The room was fair but clean.

Review 79:Nothing, I loved it!

Review 80:Location fantastic. Room size very large and luxurious Décor verystylish French provincial. Lobby and lounge facilities very spacious andrelaxing Highly recommend

Review 81:I booked this hotel for two nights. at the beginning of this year, looking forward to eating in their restaurant. A month ago we were e-mailed to say that the restaurant would be closed for annual holidays, whilst we were there. That was disappointing. The air conditioning was broken. We had an unfortunate mishap, at breakfast, on the second day. The waiter tipped a pot of boiling milk, on my wife. He took action very quickly and luckily enough, the scald didn't blister. He was extremely apologetic and offered to call a Doctor but there was no need. As it is, accidents happen and my wife is fine, so no harm done.

Review 82:Beautiful interior spaces in the hotel. Friendly, attentive, staff.

Review 83:We loved Le Moulin de Lourmarin for several reasons: it's in the middle of the village of Lourmarin, which has been designated one of France's "prettiest villages" which makes it convenient to walk through-out the village, it's shops and delicious restaurants; it's history and architecture as a reconverted olive oil mill makes it interesting and CHARMING, the rooms are relatively big, the beds are COMFY and we had a view of the castle from our room; the staff speaks English and is very helpful, accommodating and attentive; there are several common areas with comfy chairs and sofas, because there is not Wi-Fi in the rooms (we didn't mind this because we weren't there on business and we met some nice people;) the food in the dining room and on the garden patio is excellent. We definitely, want to go back!

Review 84:We had been cycling for 2 weeks and this hotel on was a great find! We only wish we could have stayed another night. We definitely will recommend it to our friends who plan to visit France.

Review 85:nothing, but just know there is no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby...

Review 86:Such a charming hotel in one of my favorites villages in France...great location and beautiful rooms, lovely restaurant

Review 87:Staffing too sparse No wifi in rooms No tea making facilities in rooms, especially with staff absent at night No bar serving drinks, coffees

Review 88:Location Comfortable rooms

Review 89:Avoid rooms on first floor overlooking the castle and fields as ants, mosquitoes, flies will be found under your sheets. There is nothing to keep them out if you or the cleaner open the window. I spent 15 minutes killing them and then having enough I asked for another room. I was refused with every silly excuse brought up by the front desk man. I argued and threatened to call Booking.com. After ten minutes and talking to the manager I was offered an upgrade. Do not get the breakfast for that price, not worth it. Go to Gabby's in the village or to the boulangerie.

Review 90:Good, not exceptional as it looks. Note that this is a centuries old stone building with all the problems and charms it carries. Good decoration. Lourmarin has been voted as one of the most beautiful villages of France.

Review 91:The lack of space of a pool and/or a place to sit and enjoy the sunshine except at breakfast tables is a shame. The big disappointment though was the service. The lady who checked us in and out was charming, but the waiting staff were slow and unhelpful and the day receptionist frankly rude. We enquired with her about how we might go about obtaining tickets for a concert that evening at the chateau and were met with an incredible "how should I know?". We chose not to eat in the hotel's restaurant because our experience with the waiting staff at breakfast and when trying to get a drink was so frustrating. Luckily there are lots of wonderful places to eat less than a stone's throw away, including the great número neuf restaurant immediately outside.

Review 92:The hotel itself is beautiful, in a wonderful location right in the middle of everything. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, the lounge areas welcoming and the garden terrace where breakfast was served very pretty. The market on Friday was brilliant and right outside our door.

Review 93:Whilst the accommodation was comfortable for the price it was a little expensive! Only wifi was access able in the lobby of the hotel!

Review 94:The location was in a beautiful setting. Staff were friendly & accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 95:That the kitchen required notice to provide a boiled for breakfast from the night before. Lack of wifi in bedroom

Review 96:Friendly staff Location Good breakfast Comfortable room

Review 97:We were travelling with my 83 year old mother and it was perfect for all of us. A very comfy, friendly and helpful staff and an ideal location as we able to walk out straight into one of the little streets of the charming, small Provençal country town. The hotel is a converted old olive oil mill and has been cleverly and creatively converted. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was great to have such attentive but discreet staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The restaurant is a gourmet's delight and the buffet breakfast was mouthwatering. All in all we had a fantastic 8 days and would love to go back.

Review 98:We are happy! Hotel firm 4 *! ! Bed, view from the window, bathtub! And what design atrium! ! And restaurant excellent! The restaurant manager appeared the fellow countryman and the real pro! Thanks to it we learned wines of the earth of Lyuberon! Мы довольны! Отель твердые 4 *!! Постель, вид из окна, ванна! А какой дизайнерский атриум!! И ресторан отличный! Администратор реторана оказался земляком и настоящим профи! Благодаря ему мы узнали вина земли Люберон!

Review 99:Lack of tea/coffee facilities in room and on hotel in general. Very cold week and no hearing available in rooms

Review 100:Atmospheric building and great restaurant

Review 101:During the week I was there, the temperature had turned very very cold and it was raining very hard. The room we stayed in was cold and I was told the heater cannot be turned on, as they have already turned it off for the season. Also, I felt the room could be been a little cleaner as there were stains in the toilette. It was not dirty by any means, but I just like my room to be sparkling clean.

Review 102:I loved the location. It is right in the heart of one of the loveliest villages in Provence. You can walk to shops, grocery store, the bank, restaurants and even a castle. Albert Camus was buried in the nearby cementary.

Review 103:Almost nothing. Parking outside is quite easy in this season but becareful of market on fridays, you might have problems in moving. Thehotel should give some advice. The elevator was out of order during allour stay (6 nights), a disabled would have had problems, we had nonotice until arrival. The bathroom could need some maintenance. Servicein the restaurant a bit "rushy", perhaps they wanted to finishearly. Bedroom linen never changed in 6 night stay.

Review 104:Above all the staff, all very kind and helpful. The Place is verystylish, pleasant and comfortable. This is an excellent point for movingaround Luberon. Very good room and bed. The pillows are soft, otherwiseconsider to bring your own. Excellent restaurant and good breakfast. Inthe whole a nice place to stay.

Review 105:Everything! We were delighted with the staff, the room , the location, and the general ambience! A wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a break in the French Countryside with a great market thrown in!

Review 106:The room was not that comfortable. The toilette had a very strong smell.

Review 107:The location is perfect. It is a really nice facility. The breakfast was good.

Review 108:The Moulin de Lourmarin hotel restaurant let down the village andFrance. As a solo traveller I would eat lunch out but preferred dinnerin especially on the colder nights - sometimes minus 4 in February (butnot at all unpleasant). The menu was the same the entire time, no freshspecials for the day and left me wanting something satisfying perhapsmore adapted to winter. I noticed people stopping to read the menu andmoving on. Uninspiring. My first dish of snails was good but for thecrust which was overbaked, the bream was well cooked. Then the dessertarrived, a clumsy structure of melted sugar lattice and a solid sugartuille that was a dentist's dream and a diabetic's nightmare! Aheap of chocolate mousse beside a yogurt bottle filled with the same, both tasteless. Although the restaurant staff were excellent noapologies were offered that I didn't eat it. Later I learned thatthe maitre d' was married to the chef... Oops. Undaunted I triedagain, I always try things I cannot make at home... The foie gras wasicy cold and tasteless. Then I tried a fish starter. A heavy tower, stale slice of galette - the fish speared on top of it was pickled invinegar but heated... Urgh and smelled a little. Salad droopy with toomuch vinegar and half dead snap dragons for decor on two dishes. On myvisits to the dining room there were usually only three of us eatingthere. As you well know in France if the food is good they will come! Anattempt was made at friandise after the last meal, a heavyhandedtasteless lump of marshmallow, (green) - a tasteless meringue and aburned biscuit that could been a small version of pain chocolat. Hard totell. I left hungry for something tasty and living up to the reputationin keeping with the hotel. My last visit to this dining room - also inwinter - we ate well and Edouard Loubet's presence was felt. Wasthis even a French chef?

Review 109:A beautiful ancient village with a good bakery, even out of seasonthere were restaurants to chose from for lunch and dinner withinstrolling distance. Hotel decor superb and very much in keeping withthe area, hotel is the jewel of the village. Breakfasts were lovely, service excellent from Mlle.Geraldine who observed and ensured you hadwhat you liked. Not for adrenalin junkies, this is peaceful, an ideal romantic getaway. The nearby chateau is preserved to reveal some history, atmospheric example with nice surroundings. Also contains the last owner's curio collection from his travels. The gift shop here is cheaper than the local shops for the same curios. Nice touch was that products available were from a small radius around the village so no junk or Eiffel towers and the wine shops only sold local. The wine made by the hotel's family Edouard Loubet is excellent. I have been here before so knew my way around, it's a fascinating place for history lovers, traces of Albert Camus and Henri Bosco for the literati. Friday morning market is wonderful. Cheese! Tourist office info good. Most people when they saw me struggling with French tried out their delightfully accented English. Local buses infrequent, cheap but punctual - warning for travellers buses are cut during school vacations so always ensure that they are in fact in operation. Took a local bus from Lourmarin to Aix-en- Provence and then on to the airport for under ten euros, lots of scenery and airconditioned comfort. Fitted up for wheelchair travellers. Lourmarin and the nearby villages are quaint and well worth visiting.

Review 110:Le Moulin de Lourmarin offered down to earth personal care and attention in what is really quite a luxurious hotel. The tariff we paid at the very last minute through Booking.com was far less than the normal tariff, but we were upgraded to a superior room immediately by the concierge. We arrived after 6.00 pm and had had a couple of conversations with her en route re lateness and difficulty of location. She was most gracious in her attempts to guide us in spite of her limited English and our limited French. The breakfast was truly outstanding and included in the price. Le Moulin de Lourmarin is a class act!!!

Review 111:Charming old olive oil mill- amazing arched building. Set in a beautiful village.Perfect position. Friendly, helpful & kind staff. We stayed in a pitch room which was clean & comfortable.Toilet is separate to the shower room. Good breakfast (continental style). We had a very pleasant stay, would definitely consider returning if in the area.

Review 112:We booked dinner at the hotel because we had read an Eyewitness Guide before traveling that referred to the hotel having a 2-star Michelin rating. It must have been an old guide because the the restaurant was very mediocre.

Review 113:Good location in the center of a charming small town which, for a change did not require climbing a steep hill! Nicely converted old building with an elevator and a great view of the chateau.

Review 114:The hotel was poorly finished and our room, while expensive was not up to standard. The curtains did not match, the shower was not a proper one as there was just a hand held shower lying in the bottom of the bath. There was no curtain on the winddow which was just on level with where we were standing to have our hand held wash.I felt very exposed. There was a folder for stationary which was completely empty. There was no information about what was available either in the hotel or indeed in the locality. The room had a damp smell. The wardrobes were very cheap and basic. In the morning when we appeared for breakfast we went to sit in the dining room and were told we would have to move outside into the courtyard as breakfast was to be had out there. We moved out without any assistance to an area which was cold and breezy. Breakfast was so basic as to be negligent. Choice was minimal. When I asked for tea I was served with a jug of hot water. I then had to go inside to hunt out a teabag. I then had to find someone to go to the kitchen for milk. There seemed to be very few staff working in this hotel. Finally while it looked very promising from the outside and was in a great locality i felt that I was completely ripped off. it would be an understatment to say that we did not get value for money. It completely depends on its location and does not try to make the customer happy.

Review 115:I liked the location

Review 116:Lovely village, and excellent hotel, even if it is not obvious from the road - we drove past it twice. It has an excellent if simple restaurant. As the menu is rather short it might pall after a couple of visits, but then there are many others in teh reegion, som e wonderful We particulalry liked the fact that when we asked about an unusual item on the menu, teh lady of the house went and asked the echef, who gave us two complimentary packets

Review 117:I would have preferred the bathroom to have a bath as well as a shower.

Review 118:Le Moulin de Lourmarin is very centrally located in the beautiful village of Lourmarin with its many cafes and restaurants. It is a great base from which to explore the other villages of the Luberon. Le Moulin itself is distinctively designed with many pieces of art and sculpture around the building. The staff were extremely helpful but not intrusive and the atmosphere was one of relaxation.

Review 119:Last week end was a disappointment because the "gourmet" dining(breakfast, lunch and dinner) is now barely acceptable. Particularlythe breakfast buffet is poor and far below expectations in today'straveling world.- there is no Wi-Fi nor a central computer available - the Minibar is poorly stuffed - the SHOWER is the bathrooms are UNACCEPTABLE - Breakfast not up to standard - Parking a problem

Review 120:We knew the Moulin de Lourmarin, 10 years ago and stayed there atleast 10 times over 40 days in totl. It was a relaxing "gourmet"experience then. I used it to hold my annual strategy sessions with myboard members. Not anymore!

Review 121:Quite expensive, but we didn't even have slippers in our room. I didn't see a laundry bag too. Fair minibar. They close the hotel at 11 P.M. so you wont have any service till the next morning, but as I know it's common for small hotels in small villages. Wi-fi works only in the lobby. No internet in the entire room.

Review 122:Very nice hotel in an old beautiful building. Nice Provence-style interriors and friendly nice staff. Good restaurant.

Review 123:For the price, should have in room internet (only in Lobby). They are under new management, so some excuses about services are allowable. I am sure they are adjusting.

Review 124:Excelent Location in a beautiful Villange of Lourmarin,in Provence. Very handy for visiting and enjoy the nice friday provencal market.

Review 125:Very odd decor, hard to see the refurbishment. Very nice garden to have breakfast in, but not very inspiring breakfast, bowl of tired chopped oranges with pips, when outside the door was a market with lovely fresh strawberries cherries etc.

Review 126:Lourmarin is a gorgeous village. Clean and comfortable room. View of chateau from the window.

Review 127:There are no bad things to say about this great hotel.

Review 128:Loved this hotel. The staff were great and very helpful. The food wassuperb. The setting was wonderful, and the lobby and sitting rooms werevery relaxing. The free Wi-Fi was extremely useful. The rooms were verycomfortable.

Review 129:Great location in town. Close to all restaurants and wine tasting. Would stay here again. Loved this beautiful village in Provence.

Review 130:No bar

Review 131:Position and ambience, very good breakfast
