Reviews for L'Espérance
Review 1:Easy walk from train/bus station Friendly & helpful staff Lovely furnishings in the bedroom & modern bathroom Great personal touches like bottled water & sweets in your room on arrival Quiet location
Review 2:very close to the city centre of beautiful Deauville and to its beach, not far away to visit Trouville as well. Kind, helpful and friendly landlord, cosy rooms and really good food for petit-dejeuner. To recommend !
Review 3:I was in a linked room though nothing to do with the neighbouring room. I could hear them bathing and playing Asian? music and all of their conversations when in their room.
Review 4:Breakfast.The view of an inner courtyard from the bedroom.
Review 5:My room faced the street and streetlamps that were on all night long; however, the blackout curtains worked fine to keep out the light. It looks like Booking.com lists the negative aspects of reviews before the positive ones which is too bad, because it may give the wrong impression -- my experience was great (see below)! This issue did not really impact my stay, and I am only listing it here for purposes of providing an accurate review.
Review 6:This was like staying at a classic, old-fashioned French hotel. Though the furnishings were a bit worn and dated, but my room was large, bright and impeccably clean. Bathroom had completely updated fixtures, including a great bathtub. It's a bit more like staying in a large guest house than a hotel. The breakfast was heavenly, and most important of all, the owners (who live on site) went out of their way to be helpful and flexible. (I was impressed that the information folder in the room had a long list of things the owners could help you with if asked -- laundry service, babysitting, extra toothbrush, etc. -- things that I would not normally expect from such a small hotel.) The location is superb -- close to both the beach promenade and the center of town. Wifi worked on multiple devices without a hitch. Not super luxurious but comfortable -- highly recommended if you find yourself in Deauville!
Review 7:everything. The warm welcome, the room was quiet and very comfy, location is amazing, right in the center and very close to the train station. the owners are very nice and the breakfast is amziiing all home made, fresh and delicious. If you want to stay in Deauville, don't think twice, go there.
Review 8:Shower takes ages to heat up, and is unfortunately a very small booth. Towels very thin and worn.
Review 9:Great friendly hosts, great breakfast. Really good proximity to beach and town centre.
Review 10:The welcome was wonderful, we arrived in the middle of a heavy downpour and were ushered in and felt at home straight away. Breakfasts were very good - a huge range of fresh food and we especially liked the cooked local specialities. We had rooms 1, 9 and 10. Room 10 was huge with an Italian shower, but all the rooms we well laid out and beautifully decorated. If you have younger children in a separate room make sure you let the owners know so they can put you all in the same building as there are several entrances.
Review 11:We loved the hotel Esperence. Patrick and his wife Muriel were lovely and accommodating and so welcoming. The rooms were spacious and the hotel was perfectly situated in the city. We would recommend this spot to anyone!
Review 12:Patrick and Murielle were so welcoming and personable, they made the stay very special. The room was lovely and the bathroom great with lots of storage space and a large bathtub. There is a very pretty courtyard and easy access to the rooms after 'closing hours'.
Review 13:Separate Internet passwords for each device were a bit annoying, but not bringing too much trouble, really.
Review 14:We spent only one night in Hotel Esperance, but I wished we could stay longer: it's an equisitely decorated place with great rooms and lovely and extremely hospitable owners. The location is also pretty good for a stay at any time of the year. We'll be happy to return to this hotel if we ever decide to go to Deauville-Trouville for a weekend again.
Review 15:The walls are paper thin, we could hear everyones coming and goings, so don't go if your wanting privacy.
Review 16:well placed in deauville, close to casino, boardwalk and restaurants. Large buffet breakfast
Review 19:Logging in to the wifi. We were lucky but parking can be fun!
Review 20:Closeness to the town of Deuville. Breakfast was very good. beds were good Very relaxing Patrick is quite amusing and extremely helpful
Review 21:I loved the welcoming of the staff. They gave us passwords for internet wifi. they were very helpful and pleasant. the hotel is located in a super awesome place where you get access to restaurants and the market in less than 5 minutes on foot. the place is neat. I would advise anyone to spend their nights in .
Review 22:Don't expect the lap of luxury from a decoration perspective - it is a B and B, but everything works and works well - in fact shower was better than most 5 star hotels.
Review 23:This was a lovely, no frills bed and breakfast, that has a fantastic location in the heart of Deauville. It was quiet - there are sea gulls it is a coastal town - but other than that not a sound. The owners were helpful, but totally unobtrusive and we enjoyed that more than when the owners want to holiday with you. Great little place at a really good price.
Review 24:Fabulous breakfast prepared by the helpful, pleasant owner. Our room was large and quiet, overlooking the beautiful courtyard, and had a big bathroom with tub and double wash basins. Hotel was 5 mins to town centre and 10 mins to beach and railway station.
Review 25:No security on access door from the street at the back for after hour use. Door lock turn in room fell off!
Review 26:Very friendly and helpful proprietor good location
Review 27:nothing
Review 28:- very warm welcome - beautiful room - attention to details can be seen everywhere - fast access to train station/sea/hippodrome/casino even by walk etc -> i can highly recommend
Review 29:I could hear converstaion, shower noise of next room cleary, but it wasno big deal.
Review 30:The holel was located near the train station and bus station. Staff wasvery very kind! Wifi worked very well. I had great breakfast at tiny, pretty outside area. If I have a chane to visit Deauville again, I willstay here!
Review 31:There was nothing I did not like!
Review 32:The owner was a delightful man who insisted on lifting the luggage up the stairs. On our second visit he was effusive and so pleased to see us. Again the heavy luggage was taken upstairs. The rooms were en suite and totally spotless. A wonderful place to stay. Parking was on the street and free after seven. We could park by the front door. Short walk to a variety of good restaurants which had reasonable prices. I would stay here again just for the owner's fantastic smile!
Review 33:Shower, had to hold the spay as you showered.
Review 34:Location
Review 35:Good location Very good value for money
Review 36:Location is perfect, a 2 minute walk from the centre on a quiet street . Our room was nice and had a big bathroom. The owners were helpful.
Review 37:Very hot rooms with no air-con, quality of hotel and rooms only fair
Review 38:Location good for centre of town, beach & restaurants
Review 39:Breakfast
Review 40:Sound proofing between rooms poor.
Review 41:Helpful friendly service. Central location. Good value. Clean comfortable and adequate room.
Review 42:WiFi was a bit erratic.
Review 43:A welcoming host, comfortable room, great breakfast, nice central and quiet location.
Review 44:The rooms need a renovation yet the money paid for location were fair enough

Review 46:Lack of comfortable seating
Review 47:Very French, in a good way
Review 48:rien!

Review 50:This hotel is just lovely. It's run by a very nice couple to go out of their way to make your stay perfect!
Review 51:owner Very friendly
Review 52:It is more a pension than hotel. It isn't a 3stars hotel.
Review 53:The size of the room.
Review 54:Location.
Review 55:Free wi-fi Brilliant location Friendly staff Excellent, strong shower Very clean
Review 56:Nothing to dislike --

Review 58:Mosquitos
Review 59:Pleasantly old fashioned
Review 60:Wi-Fi is a bit tricky to connect, had issues with windows 8
Review 61:Friendly staff, clean and silent room, close to everything in the town
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:Everything

Review 65:Location. and staff
Review 66:would have liked a comfy chair in room.
Review 67:everything, very good breakfasts; the owners were very hospitable & friendly; close to the beach.
Review 68:great location and Patrick is very helpfull ! would stay here again ! Easy parking.
Review 69:The proprietor was delightful and helped us to have a very enjoyable stay in Deauvile. Highly recommended.
Review 70:Stairs a bit steep and difficult for an older person
Review 71:Very friendly owners and staff
Review 72:Car parking on road and sometimes you might have to walk ten minuets to get back to the hotel. If you can not get outside carrying luggage can be tiresome.
Review 73:Good town center position , walking no distance to all shops, restaurants, beaches and the town of Trouville just a fifteen minutes away also by foot.We had a good size room with ensuite bathroom and plenty of hot water. This is an ideal hotel/auburge for a couple to adsorbs the delights of the Normandy coastline.
Review 74:No person in reception. They even lock entrance when it was check in time. They also close entrance at night and I had to use the other door. I don't like room #10 which is in ground floor. Don't feel secured.
Review 75:Very pretty and clean room, the hotel staffs were very nice to let me check-in in advance as per my request. Good location: walking distance to the beach and railway station, lots of restaurants close by. Recommend it.
Review 76:The walls in the hotel are paper thin so you'll hear everything people in neighbouring rooms and stairway are doing.
Review 77:Hostess in the hotel was very kind and helpful.
Review 78:- although I said that I understand french only marginaly, the receptionist spoke only french to me
Review 79:- the room was spacious and clean - the receptionist was a realy lovely person who took care about his guests
Review 80:Very nice and warm welcome by the owners. The hotel is small but with loads of charme and situated a 5 minutes walk from the promenade and the just a few steps from the centre of Deauville. Now, in November wasn't an issue, but I could imagine that it'll be more complicated during the summer. The breakfast was fresh, homemade and especially for french meanings very complete.
Review 81:Perfect charming location in beloved Normandy... We stayed at the room with a huge bathroom and recommend you to take this option. The only minor inconvenience is steep stairs, however Patrick, the owner, kindly helped us with the luggage. Good choice if you do not need an ultimate luxury.
Review 82:The owners were extremely friendly & helpful and the property was really well located - both Deauville and an easy walk over to the busier Trouville ..
Review 83:There are some small details to be considered/ remedied such as the old radiator which should be replaced, the wardrobe which should not stay in the bathroom and the bathroom consumables (not enough shower gel and soap). Anyway, such small details could be overlooked since the hotel is a 3 star one.
Review 84:Excelent breakfast with home made croissants, brioches and french souffle (we woke up in the morning in a wonderful hot croissants smell coming from the kotchen) and a variety of french cheese. The manager of the hotel was a cook for almost 3 decades so food is a big plus for the hotel. Very useful indications regarding the good restaurants in the area. The hotel is located in the heart of the city center, not far from the beach. Free parking very close to the hotel. Price worthy
Review 85:The hotel patron was extremely friendly and obliging. The hotel felt very French ( unlike the Almoria which could have been anywhere) and the room and bathroom were large and comfortable. The breakfast was good and this is the only hotel in France where we've ever been served freshly squeezed orange juice, squeezed right in front of us!
Review 86:Nothing to complain, wish to stay longer!
Review 87:Location is perfect - 5 min to the beach and 5 min to the city center, breakfast was great, rooms are large size. Price to quality ratio is perfect!
Review 88:Hotel is a tad old-fashioned and could use some refurbishment.
Review 89:Friendly service and excellent breakfast. Good location close to the beach and city center.
Review 90:Just some really petty things: after the shower gel was over, they forgot to add it; towels were unusually small; lack of plain black tea for breakfast (fruity and herbal blends instead).
Review 91:A small lovely hotel just a short walk away from the beach and the railway station, at a very quiet street with no noise but sea gulls cry. The owners, Patrick and Murielle, are very friendly and charming. My superior double room was perfectly clean and really large, with a comfortable double bed, two big built-in wardrobes, a small desk and a chair, a TV set and a safe (well hidden in a wardrobe, so may be tricky to find it). The spacy bathroom with a window was equipped with all that needed, including a bidet and a hair dryer. Tasty breakfasts, with fresh orange juice and superb home-made pies - and not being an early bird I appreciated that breakfast was served till 11 a.m. Considering all that and the price, the hotel is an absolute treasure!
Review 92:Could maybe have had a mini fridge for water but only minor complaint.
Review 93:Comfortable and the owners could not have been more helpful, Close to town but not right in the middle.
Review 94:There`s no standard bottle with a shower gel but just 1 small sachetwith shower gel, what is usually not enough for both hair&body. Butwhen you have it all used you`re not necessarily will have a new one...And if you find it out late in the evening when shops are closed alreadyand no one at the reception - that`s could be very bad end of the day...
Review 95:Perfect location, a very kind staff, perfect breakfast.
Review 96:The fact that it's forbidden to bring any food inside the hotel, otherwise -the perfect place for a little get-away.
Review 97:Staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. They spoke both French and English language. Sea is just a walk away.
Review 98:Breakfast was super and personally overseen and made by the owners Patrick and Muriel. Very clean and good accomodation. Nice local restaurant bar 50 metres away with good local food.
Review 99:The room was small
Review 100:The hotel was very nice and charming, the owners are friendly, and they can give advice about anything in the town. The rooms are small but comfortable, regarding the low price of this hotel.
Review 101:The stairs
Review 102:The mature couple that is running the B&B almost by himself and the jokes of the owner
Review 103:Street cleaners at 6 in the morning!
Review 104:Very French obliging owners who let us check in late. Good traditional petit dejeuner!
