Reviews for Escale Oceania Orléans

Review 1:Only a little gripe - location a little outside the centre of town - but once I found my bearings I walked to the centre and back no problem (15-20minute walk).

Review 2:My room was clean, comfortable and quiet and looked out onto a church. The breakfast very good - cooked or continental. Very good value for money all round. The staff were smiling and discrete.I was there to research a book I'm writing set in Orléans so I needed plenty of time to myself.

Review 3:Nothing negative, it was all OK as expected for this kind of urban hotel.

Review 4:Good location, walking distance to the centre, but perfect if you are driving and you need to leave your car. Clean & comfortable rooms, silence. Good breakfast

Review 5:Nothing bad to write about.

Review 6:Easy to access, nice off-street parking, quite room and OK for young children, fabulous breakfast, and pleasant staff. Thanks.

Review 7:Really helpful and friendly staff, room was excellent especially for the price paid, comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, view over the river. Centre of town a pleasant 10 minutes walk away

Review 8:The hotel was well place for autoroute access, not difficult to find and offered free parking. It was a 15 to 20 min walk into the centre but a restaurant was available 5 minutes away. A pre-prepared room service menu was available. Modern interior and well appointed. Comfortable night stay with good buffet style breakfast available.

Review 9:Perfect for stop-over for travel south. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. Premier room is the best deal. Orlean is a very nice city to explore

Review 10:Air Con in our room and the 3 rooms our friends stayed in had 2 settings, warm and hot! Need to ensure that the air con blows cold air as the rooms were very warm

Review 11:clean, good breakfast for 11 euro, good location for walk into the town for an evening meal.

Review 12:we walked into town and left car in car park, when we returned popped back into hotel and wanted to plan next leg of our journey over a coffee, only one chap around and he said there was no one to make us a coffee, a little shocked about that!!

Review 13:all good about hotel checking in room etc location and car park.

Review 14:No restaurant. As a solo traveller it is important to have a restaurant.

Review 15:Well located, friendly and helpful staff, parking was convenient, good breakfast, well priced.

Review 16:Staff did not know the local area and sent us in the wrong direction into town. No gluten free options at all !

Review 17:Very friendly staff, good breakfast for my husband

Review 18:We have stayed at this hotel before and it is great value for money for an overnight stay. Rooms are small but clean and modern and okay for one night. Tea/Coffee facilities would be good.

Review 19:Room is just acceptable in terms of size.

Review 20:Nice old building refurbished into a very cozy hotel, the private parking is actually in the interior court of the building, thus very facile when arriving with large luggage and /or late.

Review 21:Breakfast was over crowded (again) poor choice also you need to copy the mercure breakfast and we will come back. tea & coffee facilities would also be nice

Review 22:air con in the room, secure parking, helpful receptionist

Review 23:None

Review 24:Location to the town nice 10 mins walk along the river. Car parking. Very clean and friendly hotel. This is our 3rd stay on route to South West France and would definitely recommend it

Review 25:Delivered exactly as promised in the details. Easy to find and easy to walk into the centre for dinner, a good stopover point on the journey south through France.

Review 26:Very, very noisy - stud walls mean that you hear everything going on in all the rooms around you, Claims "central" location but good 20 minute walk to Cathedral and restaurant area.

Review 27:Staff,parking

Review 28:Not being aware of the parking we had to park on the road while checking in. Busy road. Also blocked off entrance to next site.

Review 29:Secure parking as with travelling place to place many items are left in the vehicle overnight

Review 30:Breakfast. When we arrived for breakfast there was nothing left. (Wewere not late) we had to keep asking for it to be replenished. Waitresswas very sullen and not helpful. More staff needed in dining room.

Review 31:Easy to find. Good location for centre. Clean and comfortable

Review 32:Clean, modern shower room. WiFi was fast and simple. Great parking on site which was included in the stay - fab for an overnight to know that parking isn't an issue.

Review 33:The room stank very badly. The air conditioning was also broken, andwhen we complained, reception was already aware. I think the smell wasprobably from the broken air conditioner. The hotel was fully booked, socouldn't change rooms. Stinky hot room, and in the morning themanager said "What can I do? Nothing." It was impossible tosleep through the smell. A complete waste of €90. We would have beenbetter off staying at the f1!!!!

Review 34:There was a 24 hour reception, so when we arrived much later thanplanned there was someone there able to check us in.

Review 35:Very friendly staff, very good facilities, excellent food and good location by the river, secure parking, easy walk to town centre for restaurants etc.

Review 36:The room was not very clean, it smell like tobacco and offered an encounter with a huge spider. Breakfast was below average, also without having any options for either gluten or lactose intolerance (although the property was informed in advance). The disappointment was that although we were parked inside during the day, during our daily absence we could no longer park in the evening (no reserved parking place for guests).

Review 37:Friendly staff, good quality wifi, ok room design. Good location and great parking option.

Review 38:bad service from room service. ordered coffee and English tea, waited 40 mins and chased, it had been forgotten. then it arrived - but only the coffee, so another knock 5 minutes later brought the tea (but it was not English but green tea or earl grey) - at this point I gave up correcting the poor service and accepted what I had.

Review 39:cleanliness, river view, reception staff. all great!!! after along journey it was just what we needed.

Review 40:we arrived much later than planned and so did not get to see any of the town, or eat out. our fault and not a reflection on the hotel of course!

Review 41:location, comfort, cleanliness, value for money, breakfast and secure car park, just wish we arrived early enough to eat out.

Review 42:The breakfast was good but there weren't always enough tables available, especially between 8.30 and 9.30. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for 4.

Review 43:The air conditioning was what we welcomed the most as it was very hot but the whole hotel was super clean - not something we always find in France. The rooms were also quiet - another bonus. Private parking and just 10 minute walk into town. Great Italian restaurant, just as you get there.

Review 44:No evening meal/bar open. Available near by. Car park fills up and as right on main road parking would be a few minutes walk away.

Review 45:Air conditioned rooms! 40 degrees when we arrived! Very clean, modern interior. Ideal for stopover on trip south through France. Free parking, breakfast included. Nice touch when checking was a free bottle of water.

Review 46:Although overlooking the river, the hotel is located on a rather tatty main street and the photographs flatter to deceive.

Review 47:The staff were helpful when I was unwell.

Review 48:Restaurant area is a little small at peak breakfast times

Review 49:Clean, modern rooms Excellent (quiet) air conditioning Additional requests met happily and quickly Good breakfast Secure parking

Review 50:There can be some traffic noise but with air con in the rooms this is no problem because you can close the windows.

Review 51:Great location, overlooking the River Loire, a short walk from the city centre yet only 5 mins off the autoroute makes it an ideal stopover. We've stayed here twice and will certainly go back.

Review 52:Easy to find . Really large parking through the archway into a big courtyard Excellent breakfast with fresh bacon , eggs , bread, yoghurts , cereals , cheeses and meats. Spotless contemporary room with very bed and spotlessly clean shower area Hard to believe all this for only 80 € Perfect for stopover en route to south of Franxe

Review 53:My only minor criticsm is that sitting in the bar was like sitting in reception and the door to the kitchen was left open onto the bar area.

Review 54:Location for walking into town was great as was the car parking behind the hotel. Good value and friendly staff.

Review 55:Located overlooking the Loire and a short walk into the old town centre. Convenient for restaurants. Rooms are a good size, clean and bed comfortable. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Review 56:We flew in to CDG with bikes and camping gear, took train to Orleans where we had booked this hotel for jet lag recovery. Brilliant! Room, bed, shower all great and the desk gave us the perfect dinner recommendation.

Review 57:Morning staff were not so good, kept disappearing into the kitchen so had to be looked for when someone wanted to check out. Breakfast was good, but food running out and not being replaced an hour before end of breakfast.

Review 58:Evening staff was excellent, found us a restaurant open late and booked a table for us. Great parking. Free wifi. Clean room, quiet.

Review 59:Got up early to have a breakfast and make our journey back to the ferry to get home (England) there was a coach load of other guest Who had all their luggage and other items around the reception and dining area and it was impossible to get a breakfast as there is no seating available.

Review 60:Staff was helpful parking facilities were adequate

Review 61:A little further from the motorway than expected.

Review 62:Within walking distance of the old city and it's restaurants. Hotel is clean and staff very friendly.

Review 63:Can't think of anything.

Review 64:Bedroom facilities were excellent. The location is good for eating out by the river. The staff were excellent and looked after us well. Good parking facilities

Review 65:Nothing to report.

Review 66:Immaculately clean, quiet and peaceful. Top marks to the lady receptionist on the morning of the 23 may who was extremely pleasant and helpful and dealt with our dreadful French encouraging us to continue learning the language.

Review 67:Rooms on the small side with no storage space for luggage. Only a narrow worktop for placing things on.

Review 68:The wifi was excellent and free as was the carparking. A short walk into town.

Review 69:Air conditioning not working for a week so impossible to sleep with open window because of traffic noise outside. Staff not very helpful except for one lady serving all breakfasts!

Review 70:Cleanliness and situation

Review 71:The location of the hotel on the edge of The Loire and the close proximity of the motorway for continuing our journey was perfect. The hotel staff and private parking were very good

Review 72:Nothing . Everything was perfect.

Review 73:Location 10min walk from city centre by the side of river Loire.Breakfast superb.Rooms spacious and comfortable. Parking on site safe and secure.

Review 74:We have stayed here before and like the rooms, secure parking and this time a very good breakfast. We don't normally eat breakfast here. Its a little far out from the centre but its a nice walk along the river to shops restaurants etc.

Review 75:Easy to find just off motorway and near the city restaurants (15mins walk). This was our second visit but paid an extra 10€ (well worth it) for a superior bedroom more comfortable bed and larger room.

Review 76:There was no way to cool the room down via aircon. Otherwise room was fine, probably not too warm for most people, and had all the facilities you'd need - good shower etc.

Review 77:Friendly staff at reception who were very patient with my basic French. Excellent breakfast with a good range including cereal, croissants and other continental offerings.

Review 78:Good location, free parking, friendly and efficient staff. Most importantly... clean, comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. Great. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 79:The facilities were a bit bare and it was a bit hard to communicate with staff as we didn't speak French, but they did do their best to accommodate.

Review 80:It's a great hotel with great location and a gorgeous looking building. We love the ample availability of parking in the back. The room was comfortable. Wi-Fi availability was excellent. Breakfast was plain but it seems to be the case in a lot of French hotels, but it was satisfying.

Review 81:The only criticism was that the bed was very hard.

Review 82:Good location easy to find. excellent parking facilities. Nice clean hotel would stay again and the staff very helpful.

Review 83:breakfast good but ran out of egg and bacon near the end of the morning session so missed out!!

Review 84:excellent car-park, on the river, excellent staff service, room over-looking river, modern, fresh and clean.

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:The hotel is very convenient for overnight stops from the A71. It's also located close enough to the centre to enable one to walk there and back.

Review 87:Make sure to get a room facing the river otherwise you'll have a stone wall view... Shower box didn't drain... Becomes a pool of soupy dirt water... Asked for maitenance... Didn't get any... Wifi is very poor... Needs reconnection constantly... Staff is blunt... Won't go any further than the minimum... Left waiting for check out while one recepcionist chatted away on the phone and the other chatting away with another employee... They will charge you 10 euro to park your car during the day...

Review 88:Localization with a short walk to city center and by the La Loire with scenic trails... Breakfast is simple but good to get you going... Good to come at night for sleep and leave early in the morning.

Review 89:The hotel looked like it had been recently upgraded. This was good. Except at 3 am someone returned to a nearby room and let their room door bang hard. Tthis was accompanied by a big crash. We went back to sleep. In the morning we found the very large mirror in the bathroom had fallen off the wall and was balanced on the tap. The receptionist did give us an alternative room to dress and wash in. We gave feed back to the hotel survey but have heard nothing back. Had the tap been touched the glass sheet would have shattered over anyone. No one from the management has been in touch with us to apologise for the shock caused.

Review 90:Location good. Easy to find for overnight stop. Beds comfortable. Breakfast good. Walking distance to city centre.

Review 91:Our third stay and were very impressed with standard of refurb. Staff very pleasant and breakfast good. Having a car park and a short walk to the lovely town centre is a bonus. Would always stay here on our way south.

Review 92:Excellent location close to the centre of Orléans. Free parking the first night. Close to the autoroute. Ideal when you are on your way to the south of France or Spain. Good breakfast.

Review 93:Easy, level walking distance of town centre along the side of the river. Car park at the rear of the hotel is very convenient. Clean and comfortable rooms and a nice buffet breakfast with good choice of food and excellent coffee. This hotel is our first choice for stop overs to the ferry.

Review 94:Room was clean and comfortable...good bed! A good 15-20 min walk to city centre...and most restaurants...we preferred to do this and ate well rather than go to the neighbouring Mercure hotels brasserie!

Review 95:It is a shame that there is no restaurant for an evening meal. It was raining when we stayed and after a long journey we had to walk into centre for dinner.

Review 96:Good stop off hotel if driving to S France. Generally very comfortable and particularly the bed. Good breakfast and served early if you need to make an early start.

Review 97:Hotel accepted dogs, which were allowed in the breakfast areas which very off putting when eating breakfast. 20 minute walk to main town square.

Review 98:Good breakfast, convenient stop over, close to Autoroutes.Good size room. Shame it overlooked the car park and not the Loire River.

Review 99:A bit chaotic at breakfast time as everyone seemed to arrive at the same time.

Review 100:Ease of access to motorway. Clean and comfortable. Accepted our small dog and being opposite the river was ideal for walking. Very comfy bed, great shower. Just right for an overnight spot. Staff were particularly helpful

Review 101:Slow draining sink.

Review 102:Easy to find and free parking. Nice room and bathroom, although water pressure in shower on the low side. Decent breakfast. Across the road from the Loire. Easy 10 min walk to centre.

Review 103:This is our fourth stay at Escale Oceania Orleans and it was a pleasant surprise to find it had a refurbishment to a high standard. We stay on our way to and from Dordogne, Orleon is a lovely town and the Oceania is only a walk away. the staff were pleasant as always. We will go back next year.

Review 104:Despite requesting a cot for my child when we arrived there was no cot in the room. We asked reception and were told they only had 2 and 1 had broken, therefore we wouldn't get one. They said they would call other hotels to borrow one however hours later when we asked again the response was no. No apology, no offer to change to a room with an extra bed. As we chose this hotel as a stop over we had been driving for 8 hours and had another 8 drive ahead of us all we wanted was a good nights sleep, we had to sleep with 3 in the bed.

Review 105:Room was modern and clean

Review 106:It is on the side of an extremely busy road. the pavements were made of grit and stone. I walk on crutches so this was very dangerous for me. The nearest restaurant was a good 10 minutes walk for normal walkers and you had to cross 5 traffic lights to get to it.It was too dangerous for me. I did have a meal in the bar which the receptionist cooked for us. The hotel was full and there was not enough room for everyone to sit and eat breakfast. Guests were sitting at the bar and in reception eating their breakfast.

Review 107:I loved the building and courtyard. The staff were very very friendly and nothing was a bother for them. Cannot fault them at all.

Review 108:A bit of a walk into the centre for those of us with arthritis.

Review 109:Good parking, clean modern rooms. Good shower (nice big). Good breakfast in clean, modern eating area.

Review 110:The hotel was full, so the breakfast room was rather too small to cope. The staff worked really hard to keep the breakfast food and drink replenished and to clear the tables. They were always polite when people asked for various items. There really needed to be an additional room that could be used as a breakfast room and some extra staff!

Review 111:The location, decor ...it was great for our overnight stop. Staff really helpful and rooms excellent. Good variety of food for breakfast.

Review 112:Nothing!

Review 113:Excellent room at a good price. Very easy access from Autoroute made the hotel one of the best for a stopover. Excellent easy access car parking made for a stress free arrival and departure. Short walk into centre made eating straightforward too. Breakfast good and decent value.

Review 114:Comfortable beds. Very close to excellent restaurant. Great, very helpful staff. Excellent nights sleep, very quiet. Very good breakfast, excellent choice.

Review 115:We arrived in the early hours from England. Hotel has 24h reception. The staff wer exceptional. Breakast very good compared to other french hotels. Car parking is free and very secure. The man who booked us in even made us a snack at 2am. The hotel is close to the old town which has great places to eat and visit. The hotel is also very close to motorway links.. Cant spk highly enough about the place excellent hotel with excellent staff and king size beds.. Regards Stephen Hirst

Review 116:It was very easy to find, the reception staff were helpful and polite, the accommodatipn had a toilet separate from the shower room and the bed was very comfortable. I had a view of the river and the hotel is only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the main shops and cafe/restaurants. It also has its own private off road parking area.

Review 117:Having to pay for Wi Fi. Dissapointed that we paid the same for a comfort room this stay which was the same price as premier room when we stayed 14 nights earlier.

Review 118:Found the staff very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Good choice for breakfast

Review 119:No negative comments.

Review 120:We like the new refurbishment compare to last visit 2 years ago. Excellent parking and short walk to city center. No complaints.

Review 121:Clean rooms, comfortable beds, new modern shower, private parking and very nice breakfast, walking distance to the centre - really recommend this hotel.

Review 122:some rooms have very heavy doors, which cause a lot of noise at night. no baby beds even if requiered weeks before

Review 123:good quality beds, nice breakfeast, friendly staff

Review 124:Breakfast was chaotic. A single coffee machine that was too slow in delivering. Consequently large queues developed. Continental breakfast was good however the clearing of tables left a bit to be desired. Tables left for long periods with used crockery and debris. Spoilt the effect of quite a pleasant dining room.

Review 125:Lovely hotel for two night break. Great location on the river Loire. Room excellent and very clean.

Review 126:Lack of restaurant on site. Weather was horrendous during our stay and we would have liked to have eaten in the hotel, instead, we had to get a taxi into the city.

Review 127:Everything else.
