Reviews for Cortijo Amaya

Review 1:Small holes in window screen let flying insects through. Could do with slightly better signage from the main roads, as it's located up away from town.

Review 2:Very hospitable staff, relaxed atmosphere, quiet location, nice distant views.

Review 3:None

Review 4:Great view, fantastic atmosphere and everything was super clean and just lovely ! Tasty breakfast with fresh fruit ... All in all a very satisfying stay at amaya!

Review 5:Bed a bit small. Smell of cigarette in the bedroom when guests are smoking outside.

Review 6:Vue on the see. Calm. Intimacy compared to hotel. Big swimming pool and tennis court. Terrace to relax and have a drink. Hosts very nice. Close to the see front by car.

Review 7:The location is a little remote up the hill in an agricultural district and is a little difficult to find the first time without good GPS.

Review 8:The hosts made this stay a real joy, making us feel at home the moment we arrived and advising us on how to make the most out of our time in Costa del Sol. They also assisted us with planning our next travel stop in Spain. We very much enjoyed all the travelers we meet at Cortijo Amaya and visiting with them over a glass of wine on the outdoor porch or at the wonderful breakfast.

Review 9:The hotel is very nicely presented and affords great views across the whole bay. Room was well appointed, with all the amenities you need and good shower, and was clean. The owners are a lovely couple - very friendly and helpful. This place is fantastic value for the price!

Review 10:Everything very good value for money loved the open fire for winter time and the hosts were top class will be going again even though we only live three minutes away a lovely Christmas break.

Review 11:The laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. The hosts and other guests were friendly, even socialising together in the evenings. The hotel is a refreshing alternative to the hotels on the beachfront.

Review 12:The room was very small for a double also the bathroom. There was no chair in the room to sit on just the lumpy, uncomfortable bed and the grotty wardrobe. Wouldn't put our clothes in it, we kept them in our case. The approach to the hotel was not good.

Review 13:Liked the free wifi and the free parking. Breakfast was good and the honesty bar was good. Owners were very friendly.

Review 14:If you are looking for a better alternative place to stay, then this is the place for you. Saskia and Vince, our lovely hosts, could not have been more welcoming and helpful in their traditional Andalusian cortijo. Lovely pool, relaxing garden and comprehensive breakfast. We will highly recommend the Cortijo Amaya to our friends and relatives. Ann and Bob from Kendal UK

Review 18:YOU REALLY SPOIL YOURSELF BY COMING HERE A small hotel where you get a warm welcome, nice hosts, clean room, very nice swimmingpool, breakfast was almost like home, lots to choose from a pot of coffee and an egg. The best place to relax .

Review 19:Close to the beach, but far away from traffic noise. Lots of fun- possibility in the garden: table tennis, table football, tennis, swimming pool. The hosts make sure you need everything to feel comfortable. We spent great days there!

Review 20:Beautiful , beautiful, beautiful! a peaceful corner of the world. Has everything that you need for a holiday : nice view, silence, nice people, nice and clean room, and nice hosts who really make you feel home ! We slept so nice!

Review 21:The location is a little out of the way. But the positives outweigh the negatives.

Review 22:Saskia and Vince are great hosts

Review 23:calm place, way off of any traffic

Review 24:Staff was very friendly, enjoyed our stay there, very quiet area, ideal for relaxing.

Review 29:that we only had 1 night there !

Review 30:Great home-hospitality from the hard-working hosts, Saskia and Vince.

Review 31:A friendly &relaxed place to stay.

Review 32:Separate bathroom (although still private) was a bit awkward and noisy in the night.

Review 33:super breakfast, nice friendly helpful couple in charge. Quiet location.

Review 34:Being kept awake as people talked loudly in the lobby, until 1pm, as it travels up the stairs into the rooms making it hard to sleep.

Review 35:Cleanliness and the building.

Review 36:The guesthouse is in an Andalucian style farmhouse located on a hilltop behind Torrox Costa with spectacular views. There is a tennis court, seasonal swimming pool, cosy lounge room with a log fire and a sunny breakfast room. Breakfast was lovely and included cereal, fresh bread and a selection of cheese and ham or bacon and eggs cooked to order. There are some great cafes and restaurant on the beach promenade which is a short walk away and there are more dining options if you have a car.

Review 37:A fantastic and restfull place on walking distace from the beach with the hosts that could not be better. A place to recommend and certainly visit again. Try it! You will be supriesed!!

Review 38:Sadly the beautiful swimming pool was dirty and not usable - the day we left the pool was emptied even though the weather all week had been in the late twenty degrees. There was a lovely terrace but it was not swept and kept clear and tidy. Room was very Spanish and basic but as the walls were painted dark blue with only the doorway on to the balcony for light made the room very gloomy. There was an amount of repair needed as damp had blown the plaster in our room and on the balcony. Breakfast was very basic too - rolls, conserves and fruit. This hotel has such potential it was a shame because with some attention our review would have been a lot better. In particular the pool.

Review 39:Real rustic Spanish hotel - friendly staff - has huge potential

Review 40:when you drive to the hotel you drive throgh a kind off "dusty" area. No light at nights, looks kind of "strange", but when you arrive, the hotel is ok. the sunchairs by the pool were really nasty, old madresses etc. but clean pool. not possible to buy anything to eat at the hotel after breakfast, not even icecream. about 10 minutes walk to closest store.

Review 41:the staff was very nice and friendly. Parking on- premises was great and easy, About a 20 minute walk downtown. Pool clean and very quiet. The room was clean The reseptionarea had a change- books- shelf. Leave a book behind, pick one:)

Review 42:The only negative thing was a lack of hot water on our first day. There was a problem with the hotel boiler which was repaired on our second day.

Review 43:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and the location was quiet. We liked the pool, which was a pleasure to swim in after a hot day down at the Costa.

Review 44:* Wifi is not available in the rooms (which was an important thing for me) - only on the public area

Review 45:* Perfect breakfasts * Very nice and helpful staff * Many possibilities for sport activities: pool, tennis court, basketball field, table-tennis * Very quiet place * Nice view of the sea

Review 46:Only down side was the breakfast. No bowls or plates ready and the coffee was stewed and cereal stale. However still managed to enjoy the juice and croissants. Overall, not much to complain about really.

Review 47:Greeted by very friendly young man and made to feel welcome. Hotel is stunning in design and very comfortable with views of the mountains and the sea. Really cosy on a cold night and would love to go back in the summer to make use of the outside facilities.

Review 48:The location was not in the compound and there was a lot of noisy hounds.

Review 49:The people were very friendly and they were very enthusiastic.

Review 50:excellent breakfast, it felt like i was at home, fine garden and very good swimming pool, very nice people!

Review 51:You can hear people talking in the lounge down stairs and I amplifies up the stairs. The noise carried on each night till gone midnight.

Review 52:No complaints.

Review 53:Nice and friendly reception. Nice view from the location. Dark and quiet at night.

Review 54:Perfect location with comfortable bed, good breakfast and Wi-Fi!

Review 55:very sympathetic end helpful staff, loose atmosphere, traditional decor

Review 56:I liked the peace and tranquillity of the place along with the atmosphere of country home.

Review 57:Very nice People. Close prox. to what we needed. Lovely old renovated Farm house.

Review 58:Somewhat difficult to find when arriving at night.

Review 59:Liked the fact, that it was situated in a quiet area, overlooking the town and the coastline.
