Reviews for Hotel de la Plage

Review 1:two rooms were booked the sea view room was lovely but the rear room was awful and my mother asked the girl at reception if she could change her room and she just had a grin back from the girl that was on duty that day

Review 2:Area must be good in the summer

Review 3:First room I was given had large kitchen extractor fan outside which made constant noise. Asked for a change of room...no problem...but confusion over the actual amount extra I would have to pay....more than I understood initially....

Review 4:Fresh clean hotel right on beautiful sea front in Erquy.

Review 5:Ideal for our needs - well located within walking distance of local attractions and with a fabulous view over the beach. We knew we would spend minimal time in the room so the tiny space was not an issue - the view was top of our list, bathroom was practical and well appointed and breakfast was tasty and good value.

Review 6:The hotel has changed from previous visits and is now as impersonal as an Etap. Our room was facing the sea (beautiful) and sun but it got so hot we couldn't stay in there. No air con and only opening was door to terrace, which could be accessed by all other rooms. Reception was manned by restaurant staff and was still locked at 0750 on our day of departure (Monday) which meant going back up to our room to leave the key safely. Fortunately for us we had not planned to have breakfast. Great pity! We would not stay here again, although the restaurant side of the business is very well patronised.

Review 7:The resort of Erquy and its beautiful location The excellent restaurants

Review 8:Room tired looking, stairs very dangerous for kids, window without safety catch, light bulbs faulty, safe not anchored to wall, bathroom tired and grotty.

Review 9:Location good

Review 10:Lack of security. ie. Small safe was not fixed in place and could be lifted away! Bay window/door could have been easily prised open with a screwdriver. Wooden floor outside loose and potentially dangerous.

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Our room was a disgrace, a seedy 1980s guest house was what it put us in mind of, stuck in the roof, peeling wallpaper and scabby paintwork, a staircase to go up like a loft ladder, view of the sea through a sky light that you had to stand up at, though the bathroom was private we had to go down the loft staircase to get to it, it was for 3 people, probably suit young students, its possible that other rooms were very superior to this one, the hotel was full. our room really disappointed us.

Review 13:The public areas were fine, staff were lovely, restaurant was very good. The view really is outstanding. Everyone loved our dog.

Review 14:Nothing to dislike, however, not sure hot the room would be in the height of the summer due to the floor to ceiling window. No evidence of air conditioning

Review 15:Fantastic location, amazing sea view from the room

Review 16:The room originally booked had a very small single room and shower etc on one floor with a very steep stair case up to a double.room. The stairs would have been very dangerous in the night when the toilet called. We changed to a better room for 2 nights and then to a further room for the last 2 nights of our stay. The last room was very small.

Review 17:Very small room and minuscule bathrom, with even tinier shower cubicle. The only hook was broken and the ceiling was bearing traces of a very recent leak. Terrace' s decking dangerous and needs mending urgently. Breakfast just average, not a lot of choice

Review 18:The views and the quality of the food & cooking in the restaurant

Review 19:Lack of air conditioning, wifi didn't work in the room and shower very small but ok.

Review 20:Fabulous view of the beach although room was very hot in the sun with no air conditioning. For a short stay, great option with good parking and reasonable breakfast.

Review 21:the staff are always really pleasant and polite. they are very patient with our limited french.we have stayed in other hotels in erquy but always go back to our favourite ''le plage'' we had a lovely meal in the restaurant and again it was delicious. we will be back soon.

Review 22:Coffee at breakfast could be better but I brought Lyons coffee bags with me from England so this wasn't a problem. Is not a good place for those with mobility problems as one needs to climb the stairs to the bedrooms. My one bugbear was that we wanted to check out at 7.30 am to catch our ferry, we couldn't pay the day before because the computer system wouldn't allow this. We had been assured that reception would be open at 7.30 am and it wasn't so a bit of time was lost opening up etc. Nonetheless overall we had an excellent holiday because of, not despite the hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 23:Slightly quirky hotel in 70s-80s décor not much changed from them. Very comfortable and relaxed and generally excellent staff and brilliant cleaners. Excellent value for a hotel with a sea view with car park attached. It is very quiet at night so one sleeps very well. Excellent yogurt for breakfast. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. It is a place that grows on one, seems a bit shabby to begin with and then the slightly odd fashioned décor and relaxed atmosphere of the place becomes something one really appreciates.

Review 24:The room was terrible! Black mold on the walls bathroom and bedroom. Could not sit on the chair provided under the very small desk as impossible to get in due to the bed head.TV almost on the ceiling had to lie on the bed to watch it. Fire escape outside the window which was used permanently by staff and guest. This gave clear view into the room resulting in having to have shutter down at nights in stifling conditions! Also great concern at the security aspect of this as room could be accessed from this fire escape. Not happy at all with the room, completely ruined out stay at Erquy. Condition of this bedroom did not match up to the lounge and dining area or even the public toilets!

Review 25:position excellent. Food good but not a lot of alternative choice if you did not like fish. Staff pleasant and organised - excellent views from dining room window

Review 26:The courtyard view room we were given, faced on to a makeshift car park. The hotel is obviously undergoing refurbishment, which is ok if you getone of those rooms. If you do not, then you will need an upgrade! At acost of another 20 euros.

Review 27:The hotel is in a good location and has marketed itself well if inaccurately regarding the size and facilities in the rooms.

Review 28:situation de l'etablissement

Review 29:Fantastic location & good value for money. A good selection of restaurants round by the port.

Review 30:There was a smell of drains around the second floor and in our room at times

Review 31:The view was amazing

Review 32:The lunch menu was expensive The balcony floor badly needed attention

Review 33:The location - and the dinner

Review 34:nothing

Review 35:Position, quality of food

Review 36:No coffee or Tea facilities in the bedroom

Review 37:Location Food

Review 38:Ugly building which spoilt the sea front, but made it easy to find!

Review 39:Location. Amazing Sea views. Easy to find.

Review 40:Cold, clinical room of meager proportions

Review 41:Good location, friendly staff

Review 42:Nothing.

Review 43:The welcome was nice. The food at the restaurant is very good especially the sea food ! Scallops were gently cooked and the Sole was perfectly cooked simply with salted butter, what a moment ! Thanks to Annie the chief cook !

Review 44:My wife and I are in our mid-70's, so I booked a triple room in theexpectation it would be bigger. Wrong;it was the same size as bouble butwith 3 beds. They were arranged on two levels connected by anopen.rickety wooden stair at 60 deg. The minute bathroom was on thelower level with a single bed, no night light or chair and the upperlevel had a double bed, minute wardrobe and one high backed, hard chair.ITold the staff this was quite unacceptable since my wife would havegreat difficulty and danger using the stairs to visit the toilet.I Wastold no other rooms were available so I said we had to leave.Thereception then remembered a room for 4 was available. This was the samesize but with a double bed on the lower level and side lights! Apartfrom that it was identical to the first room. One chair for up to 4people,minute wardrobe and a view over a scruffy car park. The cost witha poor breakfast was 239.6 Euro for 2 nights. A complete rip-off.

Review 45:Location.

Review 46:No lift, so very hard work to get luggage upstairs. Totally unsuitable for elderly or mobility impaired people. The room was spartan for the money and gave the impression of little recent investment. Bed was comfy though and slept fine. Great sea views.

Review 47:The location was great and the breakfast was nice, although it was €10 which is a fair bit for cereal and bread!

Review 48:No air-condition. Very hot in the room. We cannot even open the window cause there was very noisy ventilation chimney from hotels kitchen nearby. Clothes rack and radiator was covered by dust. Our room looked like ready to repairs. Not even small table in the room.

Review 49:Location is perfect and parking is big and free

Review 50:Room quite cramped -- not suitable for more than simply a place to lay one's head on a short stay -- and no privacy whatsoever from neighbouring rooms upon opening curtains or accessing terrace. No WiFi in majority of rooms.

Review 51:Clean, convenient. Nice view and easy access to quayside.

Review 52:There is no lift & the stairs are steep (we had a 2nd-floor room although we thought we had booked a room on the 1st floor) The toilets for the restaurant are downstairs (not easy for elderly people) The staff were not very helpful.

Review 53:The view from the room was spectacular. The beds were comfortable & the room impeccably clean.

Review 54:We had a 3 bedroom room with a single bed and small bathroom on the bottom floor. The double bed was on an upper floor that could only be accessed by climbing very steep narrow steps - more like a ladder. This could be a problem for older guests or young children.

Review 55:Friendly and helpful staff, wonderful views over the harbour, good restaurant.

Review 56:the room was a mezzanine as described but the stairs were exceptionally steep and dangerous for our 8 year old

Review 57:the location was ideal

Review 58:Rooms were very hot, no air con

Review 59:Excellent location, right on the sea front

Review 60:The restaurant needs better air conditioning. It was too hot to enjoy the food.

Review 61:We enjoyed well maintained ery clean bathroom and beddings.

Review 62:room was small and there was damp on the bathroom wall

Review 63:situation - on the sea front

Review 64:décor was a bit shabby but room was clean

Review 65:very friendly staff, great view and location

Review 66:Room was immaculate. Staff very freindly and helpful.
