Reviews for Hotel Negresco
Review 1:Noise through communicating room and our room was below fitness room, so we could hear the machines.
Review 2:Magical place, incredible art collection, wonderful atmosphere. Very comfortable room and extremely friendly staff. We absolutely loved it
Review 3:The cost of the drinks in the bar ridiculously high: 9 euro for a Coca Cola light! A beautiful bar though but didn't stay due to price.
Review 4:Beginning with the amazingly friendly and helpful doormen/concierge team to the stunning view from the lovely room to the comfortable bed and great food in the restaurant, everything was perfect!
Review 5:Food may be better as for such class hotel. No parking. You have to wait all the time for your car and to give it black to the hotel men to park it.
Review 6:Old hotel. Location.
Review 7:to have stayed only one night...
Review 8:This very atmospheric dream of a hotel, an alliance between old days and new comfort, luxurious 'turn of the century' deco and modern art, is situated on famed Promenade des Anglais - what does one want more?
Review 9:No bad experience . We would have had New Years dinner and are used to London prices but at €780 for two excl drinks was a bridge too far .
Review 10:Lovely welcome back, really helpful hire car management , super friendly bar.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:Staf are exellentte. Beautiful room with see view. Thaks for upgrade. Hotel-museum. Breakfast perfect in room like carusell. This is best experience in hotel I ever had. Nice bar. Bravo Negresco teem!!! I'll come back again!!!
Review 13:Not exactly a 'bad' experience but it would have been a good idea to have been advised to book in advance for Christmas dinner.
Review 14:My room was very large and comfortable. The staff members Thierry, Karolina and Eric were particularly helpful and kind.
Review 15:Comfortable, quiet room of good size. The excellent staff. The art works. The general ambience of the establishment. Its location on the seafront. The bar and the live music. All perfect.
Review 16:The concierge staff could have been a little more proactive in opening the big glass front doors for guests both entering and leaving the hotel, or is this common courtesy now a thing of the past in the Western world? It would have been a nice touch. And having just the one room key when there are two of you was inconvenient.
Review 17:The Chantecler is one of the best gastronomic restaurants in France; so why not stay the whole night and not worry about driving back home. The room rates are astonishingly low given the Mediterranean frontage setting, the quality of service, the unmatched location and the sheer history of the Negresco hotel. The ladies on the front desk could not have been more charming and helpful. And the Chantecler once again exceeded our already very high expectations.
Review 18:Absolutely nothing!
Review 19:Splendid historic hotel, friendly welcoming staff, wonderful old lift, superb artwork, beautiful carousel brasserie, amazing breakfast in our spacious room overlooking the blue Mediterranean Sea... And a gold bath!
Review 20:The breakfast could've been better and the hotel does need some updating / modernization.
Review 21:Great location on the waterfront and walking distance to restaurants.
Review 22:It was like staying in a great art gallery. Great decor, very special and great off season rate. Would love to go back and stay longer. The perfect hotel.
Review 23:Noise from the road and next door rooms.
Review 24:The art. The history. The guest relations manager dealt with a tricky situation with the behavior of our room neighbors quite well. The view.
Review 25:The only thing I might have changed was the softness of the bedding material. The sheets were a little rough/scratchy, but not by any means a reason to not stay here.
Review 26:This property is truly amazing. Our room was epically beautiful and well-maintained and clean. The staff were also especially nice and very friendly which is sometimes not the case with such highly-rated hotels. The overall experience was super memorable and I will definitely stay here again if I ever get a chance to come back to Nice.
Review 27:WIFI dropped out 100 times per day. Not a 5 star hotel. Staff crashed into room late every evening despite "do not disturb" sign.
Review 28:Great location. Amazing sea view. Great historic hotel. Attractive pricing.
Review 29:One one key per room for technical / mechanical reasons.
Review 30:The decor of the hotel, extraordinary private art collection of owner. Something different. Spacious room and bathroom specially.
Review 31:The room we were given had absolutely no soundproofing you could hear the people in the room next door the TV and their conversation !!! Staff all need to be more friendly, not the VIP service you'd expect from a world famous hotel !!!
Review 32:Beautiful old style colonial hotel from the 1920's .. But they need to give all the staff a customers service wake up call !! You expect to be treated and made to feel like you are special at a 5 star hotel - my friend and I didn't feel like this at all !! If we asked for anything the attitude of the staff was not particularly helpful and I felt I was a. Nusciance !! The hotel is very placed in Nice and central for the station and town centre ... Oh yes the room we had, had an updated bathroom very nice !!
Review 33:They upgraded us to a sea view. The bathroom was huge . Good air conditioning , not noisy. Lovely period atmosphere thanks to paintings lighting and furnishings.
Review 34:Reservation managers attitude. I had an emergency at home and had to leave 1 day early, and he had no compassion and charged me fro the night I did not stay. I asked him if he had children and what would he think through his receptionist as he would not talk to me, he didn't care and quoted the cancellation policy to me which was in french and i am english and cannot read french. Disgusting.
Review 35:Location
Review 36:I need a magnifying mirror to get ready each day. It would have been nice if the hotel provided one in each bathroom. The location is ok, but if I were going back I would choose a location Closer to the center of historical Nice. Much more going on.
Review 37:The staff was very curtious and helpful. Especially the woman who worked in the gift shop!
Review 38:Entrance toHotel was very pretty. Hall ways a bit strange and rooms a a bit funky. They yellow in our room was so bright that it actually annoyed my eyes! They bar was pretty!
Review 39:It was a little further out than other hotels and made the walk tedious. Drinks at the bar were way overpriced!
Review 40:The service was excellent. The room was beautiful with a lovely garden, partial sea view. Full-size bathroom was a treat!
Review 41:staff service level attitude of staff heavy rain roof leaking in restaurant, didn't make other allowances bar manager fighting in front of us with duty manager about offering us other facilities due to restaurant close he was more concerned about himself than the staff general unhelpful bad attitude staff
Review 42:location
Review 43:Bathroom was a little tired but not a problem and I'm being very picky even pointing that out.
Review 44:Quirky hotel, amazing history and artwork. Fabulousy helpful staff.
Review 45:The stuff should be attentifve to clients not only during check-in time, but during check-out also
Review 46:Magnificent hotel, beautiful rooms with sea view, renovated building with historical past
Review 47:Would have liked a masseuse and facelift ..Tea making facilities in room would have it have been a pleasure"
Review 48:Courtesy and respect of staff .every request catered to. Didn't get chance to speak even a little of my learning French as all staff spoke English !! .Will return
Review 49:availability for lunch was teriible! When being directed to dining room for lunch, upon arrival we were told a seperate group had reserved the whole room on short notice and there was no room for others, including hotel guests!
Review 50:location and quality of facilities
Review 51:nothing but few fine remarks: 1- bad design of bathtub, must climb in and out, curtain does not perfectly cover the sides allowing water slip out, cannot used 2 hands because one of them should hold the shower headphone. 2- small TV compared to the room size and quality. 3- The housekeeper takes the electricity card off the socket whenever we are outside making the room hot because the AC is disabled. the problem is that she takes the card with her instead of leaving it in the room. 4- No iron in the room and the Hotel ironing services is too expensive. I have stayed at another 5 star hotel in France and they do provide iron in the room. 5- The water in the toilet jet is too hot to use if you know what I mean.
Review 52:luxurious hotel and well decorated which looks like a museum. Beach and boardwalk within few steps. Fine restaurants and pedestrian streets are within walking distant.
Review 53:Decor (carousel theme) room amenities including the bathroom facities were inadequate ( no stand to unpack suitcases and no provision in shower to place soap or shampoo etc.
Review 54:Excellent location. Excellent breakfast clean facilities
Review 55:Haven't to wait and contact reception for our luggage to be delivered to our room, having flown from Australia - a minor frustration!
Review 56:The fantastical appearance of the hotel together with the luxurious room
Review 57:The staff was unable to get the WiFi connection in our room working ar any time during our three-day stay, so we had to go out into the lobby to access the Internet.
Review 58:The Hotel Negresco is a landmark in Nice, so it's a lot of fun to be able to stay there. The location is incredible.
Review 59:That I couldn't stay longer
Review 60:If going to Nice there is no where else you would want to stay, right on the beach front, a walk to everywhere and the hotel is like a museum with 8000 individual art works and pieces of furniture. The building is on the postcards!
Review 61:The renovations should have included an upgrade to the doors which would not close without a big bang. Supposed to be quiet room but everything next door was heard.
Review 62:Attractive well furnished room, recently renovated.
Review 63:Really quite expensive when you consider we only slept there! Fabulous location but the cost of other facilities, food and drink etc makes it very expensive
Review 64:the location and the interior furnishings are fabulous
Review 65:The staff were all excellent and professional. Stunning building and unique, absolutely first class. An experience in old world charm and service. Would stay there again without hesitation .
Review 66:Great location and incredible hotel. It's different but in a really good way. Staff are great, food was excellent, room was spacious and well appointed.
Review 67:The short stay, hoping it will be longer later.
Review 68:The location,the service,the staff,the promptness,the loyalty,devotion and easy communication with appropriate answers.
Review 69:Little communication between front desk and housekeeping. The hotel is getting worn and service is certainly not five star. The breakfast offering is lacking in quality and selection.
Review 70:Location and decor, albeit the decor aspect soon becomes tiresome, particularly Le Rotonde Brasserie which is also used as the breakfast room.
Review 71:One of my favourite hotels in the world. Like living in an art gallery. Fantastic staff and facilities. Great breakfast. Le Chantecler degustation fantastic
Review 72:Room smelled strongly of mothballs. Shower flooded bathroom...twice! Not worth the price.
Review 73:It's a landmark. Had to stay there once before I die. Great artwork throughout.
Review 74:Felt rather jaded. We had just come from a Four Seasons property in Cap Ferrat - the difference between modern luxury and dated luxury was extremely apparent.
Review 75:Old-fashioned glamour (though 1970s rather than 1930s), and interesting decor
Review 76:A stunningly decorated, truly Grand Hotel, more an art gallery. It was a real pleasure just to walk around it and admire the many varied works of art and furnishings. We were on the 4th floor and preferred to use the stairs just to look the artworks.
Review 77:Absolutely nothing.
Review 78:Well, what can I say.....the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is essentially a museum, full of paintings, sculptures, tapestries from the 1800s and 1900s. An unbelievable experience it was to have stayed there. Location is the best in Nice, right in the middle of the Pomenade des Anglais. Staff very professional, helpful.
Review 79:The comfort, staff, decor and attention to detail It could be even better if one could have the opportunity to order a simpler meal such as an omelette and fruit for a change. The food is however excellent but if one is staying for a week a little variation would be welcome
Review 80:This iconic hotel is very stylish and interesting accompained with a relaxing ambiance. The rooms are invidually designed. Excellent staff. So pleased we chose this fab hotel! Would definitely return.
Review 81:While I love the exreme/arty aspects of the hotel, I can see that makes it hard to keep updated. For example, my friends had a very glam/glittery blue 80s style bathroom - lots of fun - but now all chipped and in bad need of repair - which would require a complete refit. The five star rating is mostly to do with historical importance and location. Wifi available only in 30 minutes increments and €70 for the cheapest bottle of wine in the hotel bar smacks of outdated tourism.
Review 82:Fantastic if you want to experience European luxe / a piece of Nice's history. The art collection is impressive and room sizes are generous.
Review 83:The breakfast was not good. They did not change the sortiment during our stay not even once. There were only poor crossaints variety and the layout how the food was served was not veey confortable... You had to always take the lid of from the served food(cheeses, ham, even yogurth) and you had no space where to put the lid while taking something from plate. Also hotel left a welcome letter to junior suite and welcomed and said that breakfast was included but when we wanted to do check out they still asked us to pay for the breakfast. Also the reseption desk was not very polite while I aaked about late check out , the said it is impossible because the hotel is fully booked but on our last day we asked again and then they said of course but we have to pay (until 4pm it was half price and after it was full room price)
Review 84:WiFi is spotty, but this is understandable from a old property with such history.
Review 85:If you want to stay in Nice, this IS the place to be. Amazing art, luxurious rooms. Great People, great service.
Review 86:Lacked a proper shower and a/c did not adequately handle the size of the room, that is it could not bring the temperature down to a comfortable level.
Review 87:Location and quality of the hotel - excellent staff and public spaces
Review 88:Reception did not give us key to room until hours later. Suite was too big with a small TV screen and nothing else to fill up the space.
Review 89:Location and comfort of bed
Review 90:The room was old and poorly maintained. Especially the bathroom was absolutely disgusting - the price of the room was a rip off for these reasons. No turn-down service. Subpar toiletries and amenities. Small TV. Staff's excuse for subpar things is mainly "we're ecofriendly and old hotel, so we do not have this and that for granted - you better to ask from reception if you like to have any amenities" (so basically they are just stingy).
Review 91:Public areas within the hotel were interesting and very nice. Staff's friendliness and politeness was generally nice even though not superb. Central location, beautiful building.
Review 92:Everything extra was expensive e.g. Parking. No tea/coffee in rooms. Only one free plug socket hidden by the curtain.
Review 93:Level of service was excellent. Food very nice too.
Review 94:Wifi turns on and off. No swimming pool. Exceptionally bad service in the restaurant/concierge/valet parking. Extremely rude staff, had very unpleasant time dealing with them. Poor breakfast variety, valid for a 3 star hotel may be. Will never come back and will not reccomend anyone to go there. No value for money!
Review 95:Location is good.
Review 96:The staff were very unfriendly especially Sebastein who didn't have the basic skills to deal with guests.
Review 97:The location and the displayed art pieces throughout the hotel.
Review 98:It took almost an hour to check in since the staff mistook our profile so we have to wait. The facilities really needs a upgrade.
Review 99:The hotel itself is a museum with may art collectors.Located in Promenade des Anglais, our room is overlooking to the sea.
Review 100:Bar staff rude and unattentive. Eating on the terrace of the Rotonde was relaxing but being surrounded by smokers made it less special.
Review 101:Location & ambience second to none. A unique experience. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly. Our Napoleon themed room was very comfortable with excellent view. Fit for an emperor. Breakfast had everything you could possibly need to start the day served by cheerful staff
Review 102:The rooms are very old, but still beautiful. The bed was lovely. Ourview of the ocean was spectacular from our balcony. The decor on each floor is amazing. It was truly a fun, immersive experience to stay at the historic Negresco.
Review 103:The shower drain was very slow. And very short. My husband is6'5"
Review 104:This iconic hotel is our favorite of all time. It is so unique, special, perfectly located. We go back to Nice year after year to stay at the Negresco.
Review 105:The staff were so friendly yet completely professional, the Hotel was amazing, the culture and history so evident, you could not possibly experience the like in any more modern hotel ! It was an amazing experience and we could not recommend this hotel more highly for those who appreciate fine art, history, culture , quality & excellent service! Thank you Negresco!!
Review 106:Didn't like the first room we were offered and did not like the beach arrangement as had to pay extra to use sunbed and beach
Review 107:Lovely original hotel
Review 108:poor selection for breakfast. Poor service at breakfast. Wifi took several tries to connect. Noise from the street in the room. Rooms need an upgrade. Tired decor in rooms.
Review 109:The helpfulness of the staff. The location, architecture and the art everywhere. The speed of room service
Review 110:The wifi isn't very good. It continuously kicked off. I ended up having to use the Internet from the TV which was a little annoying.
Review 111:I loved seeing and learning the history of the hotel. The desk clerk gave me a tour of the hotel and showed me to my room after I checked in, which was absolutely wonderful. The view was amazing!
Review 112:Restaurant did not give us water after sitting there for over five minutes it was almost 95° I never got milk with Tea and the menu was not very flexible for young children Also too pricey for what it was
Review 113:Location Doormen Concierge Eclectic decor Balcony facing the sea
Review 114:Most of the things like fruits, cheese and glases had finished and when asked for it either it never was filled up or had to wait very long for refills.
Review 115:I was upgraded to a super super view room - direct view to the sea! A very pleasant touch from the hotel! Thank you! It was my 4th stay in the Hotel for the last year and I again enjoyed it 100%!!!
Review 116:For a five star hotel I felt that many small services were missing or only available for additional costs. i.e. no free water in the room (4€ in the mini-bar), no iron available (yes you can get your shirts ironed for 15€ each, but you cant borrow an iron), no hangers in the room (they come after asking), no separate shower (shower is in the bathtub, but you have to hold the shower in your hand as there is no possibility to fix it on the wall), etc. etc. none of these things are a major flaw, but all of them made me feel that Im overpaying. I feel if you pay a few hundred euros per night, you shouldnt be charged for every tiny extra service.
Review 117:Beautiful Hotel with great Art on the walls. Its a magnificent building and well located. The staff was throughout friendly and helpful.
Review 118:Dated rooms and decoration, unpractical furniture and bathrooms. Had to ask to change rooms as the first one had no shower and was 28 degrees with dysfunctional air conditioning. Unapologetic staff.
Review 119:Beautiful historical building.
Review 120:Hotel restaurant was very expensive, but excellent options very close by.
Review 121:Great experience. This was exactly what we were looking for as a honeymoon destination. Hotel was essentially a museum & art gallery as well.
Review 122:La Rotonda restaurant is very beautifull too, but the food is much below expectations, not meeting the 5 stars standards. Same issue with the room service food, poor quality. This is such pitty as the hotel is indeed the most beatiful in Nice.
Review 123:The hotel is indeed very beautiful in all areas, including rooms, with a lot of nice pieces of art. Location is excelent, right in the center.
Review 124:Only one elevator for the all property , the breakfast is not high end . Only one bath, not easy to take a shower in an old style bath tub
Review 125:The location, the staff
Review 126:Breakfast wasn't included and for 35 euros per person, we went elsewhere.
Review 127:The location is perfect. The décor is extravagant and fun (who doesn't like a pink bidet). Each floor features a specific type of art so it's like staying at a museum.
Review 128:Compared with the stuation 5 or so years ago, the new management regime seems to have lost a little of the former "feel" that contributed to the excellence.
Review 129:Excellent internals and the general ambience. The location, on the Promenade des Anglais and only being a few hundred metres from the Place Massena cannot be beaten.
Review 130:The hotel is probably still number 1 in Nice, but needs an overhaul. Ourroom and bathroom were okay but outdated. The hotel has a very nice bar- until the dj or piano player/singer starts early evening. It wasso loud, we could not have a conversation. Like a very loud disco! Weasked the waiter to talk to the dj but were told he was an independentcontractor and he could not do anything about it. One of our friendswent and talked to the dj who was extremely rude and turned the musiceven louder. We were three couples and left the bar on two consecutiveevenings. Mme Augier, the owner, should do something about this.
Review 131:Beautiful location. Our room looked out over the azure Mediterranen.Beautiful artworks all throughout the hotel. Attentive reception, concierge and housekeeping staff.
Review 132:The art is amazing there. I felt like I was in a museum. Wait, I WAS in a museum. Adrian, the Manager, was excellent. The quality of the staff in general is superb.
Review 133:Everything! From the moment we staggered out a taxi with a broken case we were enveloped in the Negresco indulgence. The room, an upgrade on our last stay, was exquisite with pale blue silk wall coverings and a huge bed. Loved sitting at the window drinking wine from the mini bar on beautiful old period chairs watching the life go by on the Promenade des Anglaise. Ah....
The Fine Print
