Reviews for Hôtel Le Cep
Review 1:The staff at Le Cep could not have been friendlier or more helpful! The rooms were fun and quirky based on the age of the building and the bed was so comfortable! Steps away from Beaune's town center!
Review 2:Bathroom was not spotless with mould on the grout, there was a bulb out in the room and the carpet was worn down to its backing. Breakfast was good but overpriced. Generally the hotel was a little tired and felt to be living on past glories.
Review 3:The location of the hotel was close to the town centre. Good parking and the hotel facilities were good as well.
Review 4:The hotel is very comfortable with nice common areas to relax in. The atmosphere is charming and old world with a wonderful breakfast in the morning.
Review 5:the rooms are too small for the price and need major upgradings. They are quite shabby. A room right on the street, claustrophobically small is not worth 200 euros a night
Review 6:good position in the town
Review 7:The hotel seemed rather tired. Stair carpets were worn and had come loose. Some furniture needed restoration and wear around the door handles in our room a gave a poor impression. It is time for some refurbishment.
Review 8:Central location. Tradition. Friendly staff at breakfast and in the bar.
Review 9:I was charged for someone else's bar tab. I asked to see the bar bill with my signature. The bill had an X on it. The cashier asked if that was my signature! After looking at her with dagger eyes she reversed the charge. I forgot to check the safe and left 500 Euros in an envelope in the safe (my fault for not double checking the room). I called and emailed the hotel. They said housekeeping did not find any cash in the room. While it was my fault for leaving the money, and with no way to prove it, the housekeeper could get away with keeping the money, but it does make one wonder about the integrity of the management and Hotel owner.
Review 10:Nice old historic building. Competent staff, good location.
Review 11:Reception needs improvement, we found the English particularly with the female staff poor, which is perfectly fine however they had no intention of trying to communicate any sort of quality of service unfortunately. There was however a young man who was very helpful in suggesting wine tours... Thankyou!
Review 12:Great location, cleaning staff are doing a fabulous job!!
Review 13:The room was tiny which is fine but for a luxury hotel I would argue no! No mirror in entire room except bathroom and no plugs anywhere near that (I use a lot of electrical appliances to dry and style my hair) it is also hard to apply makeup when bathroom mirror steamed up! Staff very unhelpful when husband lost passport and would not check room after we checked out as they didn't want to disturb their other guests!
Review 14:Lovely baroque style decor
Review 15:The breakfast was not included in the tariff nor the parking. This added another 25% to the room tariff so these extras were substantial.
Review 16:Charming, historic building, spacious and comfortable rooms, helpful and courteous staff.
Review 17:Nothing.
Review 18:Spaciousness of public areas, bedroom and cloisters. Also having a Michelin starred restaurant on site is wonderful. Parking was safe and secure and easily accessed from hotel. Only minutes to main sites in Beaune.
Review 19:Being charged to park my car at the hotel, do not consider this acceptable
Review 20:Location is great and the hotel"s staff were very friendly and professional
Review 21:Small rooms and a little quaint. Gym was completely useless and clearly there to maintain their 4 Star rating rather than providing meaningful facilities for guests. Some staff could be friendlier.
Review 22:A really lovely place to stay in the centre of Beaune. Beautiful old building.
Review 23:Our room could have done with a bit of updating, particularly the bathroom.
Review 24:The hotel is located in a beautiful old building. The downstairs lobby, bar and outside courtyard are all stunning. The staff were all excellent and friendly.
Review 25:I have stayed at the Cep many times on my travels to and from the south of France and have always been extremely happy with the hotel, the service and the staff. Some people may not like the decor - I prefer it by far to all the modern, neutral," everywhere is the same" kind of hotels. Location is perfect! Thank you Le Cep for making my day every time I stay .
Review 26:The room was excellent. Lots of room and all of the ammeneties a couple could want. Three sinks, large shower, large tub, mini bar, fold-out couch with a coffee table. Breakfast was excellent, with make your own soft boiled eggs every morning! Secure off-street parking with in/out privileges. All staff members spoke both English and French fluently.
Review 27:WiFi slow. Many additional charges, parking, dog. Breakfast cold only - no hot options eg eggs etc
Review 28:Great location in the heart of Beaune. Staff professional and friendly
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Room was comfortable, as was the bathroom. Breakfast is served either in the nice garden , at good weather, or in a beautiful Salon , and is very tasteful, with a lot of variety. Staff is friendly. The location is perfect, close to the center (Hotel Dieu) and to many restaurants.
Review 31:Awful and frustrating wifi connection. Very slow.
Review 32:Brilliant location. Fantastic and helpful staff, fluent in several languages who anticipated our every need.
Review 33:WiFi was a bit patchy and I guess could frustrate business guests - but when you are on holiday - who cares ??!!
Review 34:Excellent Hotel - We originally booked only one night at Le Cep but - because of problems at an earlier venue - rang them to see if they could accommodate us a day earlier and for 2 nights. They were extremely helpful and also upgraded our room free of charge. All hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful - clearly service orientated - and all spoke excellent english. Valet parking and assistance with baggage was really helpful. Whilst bathrooms are not modern they are functional and the bedroom ( room 204) was very large / spacious and luxuriously furnished - looked out onto Rue Maufoux. Front desk staff were really helpful in recommending and booking restaurants - absolutely no complaints here ! The real advantage for us was the hotel's great location - 5 mins walk from Beaune historic centre and Hotel Dieu etc - we did not need to use the car at all. Will certainly come back to Beaune / Le Cep
Review 35:nothing bad what so ever , every one spoke English and where extremely service orientated.
Review 36:We were on our honey moon and they gave as a magnificent upgrade.
Review 37:The so-called wifi at Le Cep is very slow and of poor quality. Room 111was one of the noisiest rooms we’ve experienced during nearly 2 years oftravel and more than 300 hotels and B&B’S. It overlooks a very busy, very loud courtyard. The cacophony of sounds began at 6am when staffmembers roll all sorts of noisy objects across the cobblestones anddidn't end until well after midnight. That room is not suitable forany guests and should be decommissioned.
Review 38:We stayed in two rooms at Le Cep in June 2015. Room 111 was dreadful. After complaining to staff we were moved to a much better room which wasperfectly quiet. Le Cep has beautiful decor. The location is veryconvenient.
Review 39:Our mattress was too soft for our taste. The hotel was undergoing renovation so the was construction activity around. Should be nice when it's done.
Review 40:Lovely hotel with great staff who also spoke great English. All the sites and restaurants were within a few walking blocks. Our room had a big balcony ( but not all have one ).
Review 41:Thought the bathroom quite old fashioned but worked fine. Breakfast was fine but the staff didn't offer us the breakfast menu for anything cooked and as we had a long journey ahead of us we would have liked one.
Review 42:Very friendly front desk staff
Review 43:The room was already priced above what many could afford...and then everything was extra: $18 euros for parking; $20.50 euros for breakfast; tipping expected. Would rather pay one inclusive price.
Review 44:Staff was helpful & polite; decor was attractive & gracious; rooms well appointed with good temperature control; beds were comfortable with nice linens; location was excellent. Overall experience: excellent.
Review 45:Price of breakfast over €20 per person - that would add €41 to cost per night. Ludicrously high for a room rate that is already not cheap for standard of facilities.
Review 46:Location Old world charm
Review 47:Great location for the old town of Beaune and its wine shops, delis and restaurants. We have stayed here numerous times and the staff (many old faces) are always attentive and friendly.
Review 48:Wi-fi was patchy but ok in common areas.
Review 49:Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Spotless rooms with all the required amenities. delicious breakfast.
Review 50:Perfect location in the heart of Beaune, easy walking distance to everything in town. Very refined, elegant, upmarket hotel in a historic building. Staff was very professional, valet parking, richly appointed room.
Review 51:The porter and receptionist kept on asking to keep our car keys, in case the car needed to be moved around on the hotel car park. We did not have valet parking, so it was unreasonable to give the jets away for a 80tsd eur car. They still kept insisting, unless we clearly said no. From there onwards the porter was rude and really impolite. Really unprofessional. A shame, rest was really nice.
Review 52:We stayed there over the Easter days. Paid 213€ inkl. Parking for one night. Location is great, in the heart of Beaune. Staff friendly. Partly arrogant. Rest really nice.
Review 53:I've stayed at Le Cep repeatedly over the past 12 years as a bachelor and family man. Always made to feel welcome and a valued customer despite infrequent stays. Given a choice I would always stay at Le Cep for a weekend break or stop over to the Alps or South of France.
Review 54:In need of refurbishment, bathroom was 1980's with sink cracked. In need of decoration, chipped paint and old furniture in the room. The bed was very comfortable and room clean. Pretentious restaurant overpriced for ordinary food.
Review 55:Character building in ancient town. Nice friendly staff.
Review 56:Would like to have stayed longer.
Review 57:The welcome and care taken by the Le Cep team was excellent. Their recommendations for local cellars, restaurants etc was spot on. Hotel pure luxury. Thank you
Review 58:Noise from the street on the weekend was a slight problem in our room at the front of the hotel. Request a room on the back or overlooking the beautiful courtyard.
Review 59:The staff was excellent and the location was great. Room and bed very comfortable. Shower very good
Review 60:Everything was great!
Review 61:Great room overlooking courtyard with a cut cat we enjoyed watching. Hotel provided a free private wine tour of Chateau Pommard. Oiseaux de Vins restaurant next door was incredible. We loved Beaune and will definitely go back...probably on a bike tour.
Review 62:Had to request a room away from elevator and outdoor dining area
Review 63:Staff was gracious about our request for a room change Very helpful with sights to see info
Review 64:The staff were amazing - our car broke down and they went above and beyond to help us get it fixed. The bar staff were superb recommending some fabulous wine and the rooms were very comfortable.
Review 65:Disappointed that the restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday nights ( the nights we were staying)
Review 66:Having staff take car of parking the car Very french style room and comfortable bed
Review 67:-Helpful and knowledgeable concierge -Friendly and attentive staff -Comfortable and uniquely decorated rooms -Amazing coffee and pastry room service options
Review 68:the wifi connection did not work well for some in our party
Review 69:location in central Beaune, several blocks from Hôtel-Dieu and Musée du Vin; convenient nearby parking; helpful and friendly bilingual staff; lobby bar and patio breakfast area; comfortable, quiet sitting rooms off lobby for planning day's activities and relaxing
Review 70:It was a bit pricey for what it was. We booked a premium room, but it was quite basic and disappointing. Also the room had a very peculiar smell. It didn't really compare well to other hotels we stayed in.
Review 71:Location and friendly staff
Review 72:The pillows in the bedroom - long cylindrical pillow going across the bed! Other than that, loved everything.
Review 73:Fantastic service, friendly, professional, helpful staff. Lovely lounge and really nice bar. Centrally located, with good car park.
Review 74:the 20euro extra for breakfast
Review 75:beautiful old building in a historical town. excellent service, great comfort, charming rooms with 17th century details.
Review 76:We have stayed at Le Cep many times and very much enjoy it. This time we had a problem with our car and had to stay an extra night. The staff could not have been more kind and concerned and even rang the garage for us to find out what was happening. We felt extremely well looked after and had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much.
Review 77:The cheapest price of rooms is rather small - see if an upgrade is possible. Service is slow in the restaurant - but that seems to be true everywhere now. So if you're in a hurry, better to walk three minutes to the restaurants around the Hospices.
Review 78:Fabulous restaurant - though you're better off buying your wine by the bottle (despite an extensive choice, the highly publicized list by the glass does not do Burgundy justice). Remarkable value for money if you stick to the prix fixe lunch. One of the best breakfast buffets I've come across in France (though pricey). Very helpful concierge staff.
Review 79:The location of this hotel was perfect, within walking distance to everything in the old town. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us with our bags, both when we arrived and when we left. The free wifi was very reliable. Breakfast was substantial although I felt it was a little bit pricey. All in all we really enjoyed our stay in his hotel.
Review 80:Extra charge to park - 18 euros per night. Tired room with antiquated fittings, hopeless fluorescent bedside lights, dreadful shower that saturated everything but yourself in a tiny area and poor layout in bathroom. No duvet, uncomfortable pillows, very hot - air con couldn't be found Not good value for the price paid and won't be returning. Don't waste your money - this place needs investment!
Review 81:Location, staff, reception and bar area
Review 82:The breakfast room seems slightly claustrophobic and the bread wasn't very good.
Review 83:The Hotel is located within the walls of the town, wonderfully situated for visiting the beautiful sites of Beaune. The building itself is beautiful, the staff are charming and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Review 84:The room was dark and the bed was uncomfortable. The fitness room is tiny and one of the 4 machines was out of order. The one I chose not only was not connected to electrical but I had to figure out which cable was for my machine and where it plugged into the bike and the wall. The fitness room had a lot of cobwebs too. It looked as though no one had tidied it up in a long time.
Review 85:The location is perfect just a few steps from the heart of Beaune. The hotel is historically interesting. Our "Grand Cru" room was spacious and had a separate toilet room.
Review 86:Parking on site was wonderful. The staff, to a person, was delightful, helpful, and friendly. We loved the hotel itself, and the comfort of the room and public spaces. Having a bar on site was great. Breakfast was outstanding. We were delighted with our stay at this hotel!
Review 87:The room was a bit cold but the staff immediately brought in a heater.
Review 88:The staff were very attentive and polite.
Review 89:Location exactly what we wanted
Review 90:Drainage in the bathtub was bad. It is serious drawback.
Review 91:The old, beautiful place.
Review 92:None.
Review 93:Meet all expectations. Staff was exceedingly helpful.
Review 94:Party quite noisy
Review 95:Location was perfect. Staff friendly, helpful & knowledgable. Our room was beautiful & well appointed.
Review 96:Parking facility is a bit tight to get in and out.
Review 97:It's a classy place and you feel papered all the way.
Review 98:rooms are old and old-fashion
Review 99:Poeple location facilities for car
Review 100:Building and area.
Review 101:Breakfast could be included
Review 102:Good location and great staff
Review 103:Really superb ambiance in the heart of Beaune - with parking Two breakfast rooms - one in a cave! Sadly the wine removed.
Review 104:The reception and consierge was very helpful. The room was small but cozy. Location was great. Good restaurant.

Review 111:Location Helpful desk staff
Review 112:Lovely courtyard with sculpted walls where to have drinks
Review 113:Very high grade staff, charming and helpful.

Review 115:old world feel with all the mod cons
Review 116:Expensive for a one night stay
Review 117:Highly trained but friendly staff.Superb ambience
Review 118:Rooms a tad small for the price.
Review 119:Stayed here before. Had better rooms for the same price but the location is great.
Review 120:Warm welcome at the end of a long journey - the whole thing was great.
Review 121:Small bed. Slow WiFi
Review 122:Friendly staff. Nice building.
Review 123:Basic rooms are a bit tired. Shower was a mixer tap over the bath, which was OK but not for the price
Review 124:Central Hotel with great character.
