Reviews for Hotel Bonaparte
Review 1:Central location inevitably means noise so take ear plugs.
Review 2:Great location, walking distance to train and ferry even with heavy suitcases. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Good wifi in room. We upgraded to a junior suite for 8 € which was very spacious with bath and fridge.
Review 3:The stairs - no lift!
Review 4:Internet available in our room, the outlook from our room onto a garden, hot shower, comfortable, clean room, pleasant, friendly receptionist, close walking distance to cafes/restaurants and St. Nicholas' central park/square, value for money.
Review 5:We arrived late in the morning and the woman at the desk immediately gave us some bread and coffee, even though we couldn't check in until the afternoon. When we returned a week later after hiking and kayaking, she took one look at our exhausted faces and upgraded us to a lovely suite which gave us lots of room to relax, stretch out and enjoy breakfast on our private balcony. It was a short walk from the hotel to the train station, the ferry dock and old downtown.
Review 6:Dated facility. Stairs! (though had help with luggage). Very basic breakfast. WiFi unsatisfactory. Double room - tight, even for one; tiny bathroom/shower.
Review 7:Courteous, lovely, helpful staff. Down-town location. 10 mins+ walking distance from ferry, train station, long-distance buses. Comfortable bed. Got the requested balcony.
Review 8:We ask for a wake up call for an early boat (7am) but the night receptionist forgot to call us at 6.30am (I had asked a second time the night before for that call to make sure it will be done. Fortunatly I wake up myself but to me, that was not very professional.
Review 9:The place in the city center.
Review 10:No lift(elevator).
Review 11:Hotel in great location for non driving travellers. Close to ferry port, station and central Bastia. Rooms are very spacious, clean and nicely furnished and decorated. Lovely deep bath. Good air-con. Hosts very helpful
Review 12:We've spent here only 1 night, so no it wasn't a big problem, but the triple room was very small.
Review 13:The hotel is sutuated very close to the port, so it's right choice if you have an early depart, it will take only 10 minutes to reach the corsicaferrys terminal by foot. Wi-fi is ok.
Review 14:Central quiet and clean. Serves the purpose for one night. We would come again. The hotel is next to a superb ice cream bar. Quite expensive, but definitely the best ice cup I had in my life and worth every peny.
Review 15:All the staff were absolutely lovely from the cleaners to the receptionists. Sebastien was there on my first night and invited me to have a drink and a chat with him. He's a character! Really handy location- close to the centre and only a few minutes walk from the ferry and the train station. The room was very clean and I had a huge balcony- not the best view but lovely to sit out on and people watch or read. I had a really enjoyable stay
Review 16:Centrally located and close to Port, shops,Restaurants and old Port. Parking available at €8 per day. Clean and comfortable. Our room was close to stairwell and the reception..this proved to be be quite noisy sometimes.. would stay again but would request room further away. Both receptionists very helpful.
Review 17:no elevator but I didn't really mind.
Review 18:Very clean, great location, very helpful and polite staff. The rooms have been recently renovated and the wifi works fine
Review 19:rooms are a little bit dated, but overall it's not bad value.
Review 20:clean and comfortable, spacious room, helpful staff. Good location to walk to the main sites and close to the ferry terminal.
Review 21:I liked the small scale and personal service of this little hotel. The room was cozy and well-appointed. It had everything I needed. The staff were friendly, helpful, and had enough English that my tiny French wasn't a problem.
Review 22:A bit nosy street if you open the balcony:), what I did as prefer sleeping on the fresh air.
Review 23:Good location 2 min walk from the center and about 10 min from The Old Port
Review 24:WiFi was a bit hit and miss having to use a new code every day a bit of a pain but it worked.
Review 25:Value for money and without a car closeness to shops harbour etc.
Review 26:the 'breakfast' was a joke! EU 7.- for a 4" stick of bread ,one tiny prepack of butter and jam . one quarter [ large ] cup of midioka coffee . That's it! The 20 year old bulky 10" ,14 channel, TV placed to knock your eye out.
Review 27:good location friendly , very helpful owners.
Review 28:After two weeks on the corsican trails, enjoyed a nice hot shower, and a sit on the balcony. The staff were friendly, checked me in quickly. No fuss, just nice.
Review 29:the bed was not so good, the shower area is only partly covered and it will always be wet on the floor, complicated wifi connection
Review 30:good located, very kind man at the reception
Review 31:The owners were very kind and helpful and gave very good recommendations and took the Time to make sure our stay was a good one. There was a great icecream shop underneath the hotel and the location was very convenient to visit Bastia.
Review 32:The staff said they would help with carrying our luggage up anddown the stairs but did not. ( my husband is in 83 & I am in my70 ties) as therewasno lift.
Review 33:The location was excellent and the room very good
Review 34:The hotel is closing doors for the night so you need to wake up the door man to come in after midnight... Old style to give the keys to the reception when leaving the hotel. Doesnt make you feel save having all your valuables in the room without having the key from it :( Internet is given for 24 hours, each time you switch off you need to re-enter codes and the speed was very low. There is also limitation on uploaded data... Of you dont speak french than you might have difficulties to communicate with reception.
Review 35:Very convenient location - walking distance both from the port and train station. Most of the bars, cafes, resto, shops are in a walking distance. 15 min slow walking from the old Citadel. Friendly atmosphere, nice design of the reception and rooms. Very smooth check in and check out. Small but cosy room, everything is well set - bed linens, towels, etc. my room was facing the terrace and a bit dark but i saw a really nice and bright room in front of me. It is a good place to sleep 1-2 nights in Bastia. If you are a traveller without any special requests and needs, i would definitely recommend it to sleep in Bastia.
Review 36:the place can take some refreshing, such as tile grout is worn and a bit grey. our room was rose colored. for its size an off white would make it look a lot more spacious.
Review 37:congeniality of all the staff and owner convenience they will try to do everything to please, including bringing your breakfast into your room until past noon time. every generous portions at breakfast
Review 38:The bell in the lift sounding through the night every time the doors opened. Noise due to lack of consideration by fellow guests at Reception early in the morning. (Not the Reception Staff's fault!)
Review 39:Close proximity to the ferry port and to Avis. Helpfulness of the staff at Reception.
Review 40:Budget rooms are quite small.
Review 41:Clean room and clean bathroom with a small fridge and air conditioning! The receptionist was extremely helpful and lovely and helped us find a bus to a nearby beach. Good price for the service.
Review 42:No complaints.
Review 43:Hotel Bonaparte has an excellent location in the modern part of Bastia, near ferries, railway, buses and shops, within easy walking distance of the old part of town. The staff are friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable with a balcony over the street. Breakfast was fine.
Review 44:...like the decor, the whole experience is like being in the 1970s - expensive, inefficient and slow. When we arrived at 8pm the multi-lingual 24-hour front desk consisted of an exclusively French-speaking night porter who finally gave us keys after 10 minutes of scanning our booking form and my passport for my name (pointing at it didn't help). In spite of asking for parking on the form when we booked we were told (quite aggressively) that it was full, there was no reservation for us and we would have to find a parking space ourselves (parking in the road outside - even if you could find a space - is only allowed until 06:00). Given what other people have said about the parking this may have been a lucky escape. I would recommend the parking at the station about 10 minutes away, which costs a little bit more than the advertised €8 but at least you know it's there. Rooms had thin walls. We rang ahead and were told we would have no problem getting out boat ticket printed at the hotel, but the white knuckle time I enjoyed after the gentleman on the desk told me he could only print some kinds of ticket and the ancient Windows programme ground through its paces, shut down and started again made me wish I hadn't booked them so late. Were Napoleon alive today, I doubt he would stay at this hotel in spite of its name.
Review 45:WiFi was good and close to the port....but...
Review 46:Lack of lift (although I knew this when I booked, so nothing to complain about)
Review 47:Convenient location between the train station and the harbour, helpful staff offering advice on airport transfer, comfortable bed, relatively quiet room facing the back + a double door to keep noise from the corridor out.
Review 48:For those who like sleeping with the window open there is a very popular ice cream parlour below our balcony so it can be very noisy. Not a huge deal though.
Review 49:Great location right in the heart of the city and very close to the port. The lady at reception was so helpful with everything form organising a car park for us to offering suggestions of best places to go. She was a delight!
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:- Comfort, deco and size of the room - Cleanliness of the place - Kindness of the staff: as we arrived late all shops around were closed - the hotel receptionist offered us a large bottle of mineral water for free. The following day we were an hour late for checking out and although that is a busy season the staff were friendly and understanding
Review 52:The staff were very kind and the hotel location is excellent. Bastia is beautiful and all of Corsica as well. We had a wonderful time.

Review 101:Just a short walk from the ferry terminal and railway station, very friedly and attentive staff, a good feeling all round.
Review 102:perfect location, good value, nothing fancy
Review 103:Show stall was modern and elegant but without door or curtain on back end - even careful use of the shower results in minor flooding in the bathroom.
Review 104:My room had a terrace - beautiful place to sit outside and relax.
Review 105:All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Appreciated particularly the room which was a mini-suite with terrace. The room, reception and breakfast areas were kept very clean. In summary, could not fault it. Would return.
Review 106:Central to Bastia, just a short walk from the coach stop. Very helpful & pleasant reception staff. Nice balcony overlooking the cafes with a view of the ships in the port.
Review 107:The noise from the ice cream parlour downstairs went on until after midnight.
Review 108:Location of the hotel in relation to the old city and restaurants. The staff were very helpful. The hotel night manager took us in his car with our luggage to catch an early morning ferry to Nice as the taxis were unavailable due to it being a public holiday. All in all the staff went over and above what we expected.
Review 109:The lightbulb in the shower was broken and there should have been a shower-curtain, impossible to keep the floor dry.
Review 110:Very close to the harbor, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 111:For the money can't really say there was anything we didn't like at this hotel.
Review 112:We picked this hotel because of the location mainly. It was very central to everything and was very good value for money.
Review 113:We had a private balcony which opened up to the street below. It was very close and easy walking distance to town and the ferry. Had the best cup of coffee!!
Review 114:Style is a bit seventies
Review 115:Very well located in the centre of town and clean, with its own parking about 50 metres away (but, if you own more than one car, take the small one).
Review 116:Expensive for a single person
Review 117:Helpful staff Good location
Review 118:the personal do not speak English
Review 119:rated as 3 star. should be 1 1/2 or 2 at best. Old, run down
