Review 3：The town of Santillana del Mar has been very carefully neatened and dressed to suit the hundreds of tourists it must get. The tastefully hidden restaurants and cafes, however, leave a poor impression, as they serve mean helpings and recipes, of poor quality and of exceptionally high price. Menu del dia in the village ranged from 12.50€ to 26€! And afterwards, we had to go and get something to eat in the next town. One place allowed one glass of tap water only on the menu. Inadvertantly, I had thought I could have the whole bottle, tap water!, which then cost us 1.70€! By the third day we ate at the service station in Unquera, and had a delicious 3 course meal for 11€! Take a packed lunch!
Review 4：Although neither of the couple who owned the Posada were English speakers, they made their friendliness, helpfulness and their welcome very clear. Each of the 7 en suite rooms had their own design and decor, beautifully finished and immaculately clean, with a common sitting room for meeting other guests. Breakfasts (at 5€, definitely a lovely anomaly in this town!) were traditional, home made breakfast foods, with as much as we could eat, certainly. We also ate at the Altimira centre, which was excellent value for money, and very good quality.
