Reviews for Hotel Riviera
Review 1:This is a simple, but comfortable hotel. Everything works properly and it's very, very quiet at night. The staff are wonderful. After my morning ferry had been cancelled, they let me have the room back and a very late check-out so I could catch the evening ferry.
Review 2:Maybe it was a good low season deal, but I thought it was more a 3-star room (only missing a hairdryer). Wifi worked well except in my end of the corridor room.
Review 3:Street cleaners in the early hours but not too bad.
Review 4:Friendly staff. Basic but good value choice if you need to be near the ferry. A little old-fashioned and fading but charming too. It's also easy walking distance to all the attractions of beautiful Bastia.
Review 5:Breakfast was 7 Euro per person but we had it in the street restaurants nearby for 4.5 Euro per person.
Review 6:Not our preferred class of hotel but it was air conditioned & position was perfect. Was 90 Euro per night ($150.00 Australian) so price was reasonable. 50% of the time there were no staff that spoke English. For convenience, we would stay the re again.
Review 7:Rained whole time so didn't get to o a whole lot. Staff not really all that helpful.
Review 8:Location was good, once we found it. Convenient to ferry terminal, restaurants and shopping.
Review 9:Only minor quibble is that it's a squeeze to get into the bathroom as the bath takes up too much room. Just a shower would be more practical.
Review 10:Excellent location for the bus coming from Porto Vecchio and also for the ferry. Comfortable, spacious rooms, with high ceilings. Close to everything, but then Bastia is quite compact.
Review 11:Noisy street but it is not a problem if you do not need to get up early in the morning. The hotel is rather basic so not for longer stays. We stayed one night at the end of our trip in Corsica and took a morning boat back.
Review 12:Very convenient location for departure by boat (very close to the port) and for visiting Bastia (close to Place Saint Nicolas). Very nice and friendly owner!
Review 13:The location is perfect for a stop over night in Bastia. Close to lots of restaurants and shops and an easy walk to the harbour, market place and citadelle.
Review 14:The staff was on private calls for hours. Did not look up when we asked questions, or needed wifi code. We felt totally unwelcome. Just a smile or support with luggage, or some suggestions while being a host makes a massive difference. Wifi sucks. We come to Corsica frequently, but money for this hotel is simply not worth it as they don't seem to care, so we will pick another one next time!
Review 15:Location is good to hit the early ferry to thr mainland, or to walk into town
Review 16:Reception staff member didn't have a word of English which was frustrating when we were trying to figure out our bus travel plans for early the next morning. Room very basic and only one, very lumpy flat pillow. No wifi.
Review 17:Close to port and right beside bus stop to Porto vecchio, tourist office and Corsica tours office.
Review 18:No kettle in room. The entrance isn't great, but once you get up to reception on the first floor, it's fine.
Review 19:Great location near to shops, square and ferry port. Big rooms with comfy beds. Bastia has loads of character - especially the old town.
Review 20:This critics concerns firstly management of the hotel and secondly the receptionist! My credit card was charged 4 days before arrival and at check-in the night receptionist insisted that it was only reservation of amount, not the real charge. Of course receptionist spoke only French and I spoke all other languages except French so it was impossible to explain that charge was already made. So they charged my credit card again, and after two weeks I still haven't gotten the refund nor the answer from hotel despite sending many e-mails to them and booking managers intevention. Wouldn't recommend this hotel until they change/improve the management and staff behaviour towards their guests! I will definitely never stay there again.
Review 21:If travelling by car difficult location to unload, all street parking used up & carparks also congested. Double charged my credit card awaiting refund.
Review 22:Best rated as a backpackers hotelBest to avoid city centres
Review 23:Basic accommodation with a shower that was so small it was difficult to use. An overweight person would not have been able to use it.
Review 24:Location was close to ferry terminal
Review 25:Rooms are very Spartan. No hair dryer, no closet doors, in fact, no hangers to hang your clothes. We asked for them and the staff told us they didn't have any. Shower was very small you hit your elbows every time you turn, (plus with a broken door). Public parking is a joke, if you are very lucky to find a spot, you have to move your car by 8:00am.
Review 26:Air condition in room very good and quiet. Bed comfortable (although the headboard's drawer stuck out to hit your head and so we had to move the bed out from the headboard). Staff pleasant.
Review 27:A bit noisy for those not preferring AC and opening the windows wide instead. This is though due to the good location which was the first thing for us. Good value for money for a one night transit.
Review 28:Perfect location. Right in the heart of the city and a few meter walk to the ferry. Absolutely ok for a night to catch early ferry next day.
Review 29:Perfect for our needs. We got off the evening ferry and needed somewhere to stay before picking up our hire car in the morning. Minutes from the ferry terminal.
Review 30:I would not go again because one member of staff is extremely rude, and the others know this but do not deal with it.
Review 31:Location is the best thing about this place, between port and railway station and immediately next to coach pick-up point. Wifi available in room.
Review 32:Expensive breakfast. It's easier to get better coffee and croissant at nearby cafes. Gloomy ground floor and stairs.
Review 33:Probably closest hotel to the ferry terminal within easy 10min walk. Good for late arrivals/early departures overnight. And AVIS office is next door. Friendly staff. Free WiFi. Nice, clean and refurbished rooms.
Review 34:Breakfast is not worth it, better go to the cafe across the street.
Review 35:The staff is excellent, they arrange everything you ask them. Even transportation to see a match of Bastia.Location is great, close to everything.
Review 36:Only one thin pillow each. We like to have 2 pillows or at least one good one.
Review 37:We chose this hotel as we wanted to walk to the 8 am Nice ferry. We had already dropped off our hire car, so parking was not an issue for us. We had to leave too early to have their breakfast, so cannot comment on that. Restaurants & shops nearby. The room had a bath.
Review 38:The night man was a bit rude...my husband and young son watched the Bastia football match in the hotel lounge and the night man rudely switched off all the lights at the end and left them in darkness!
Review 39:Great value for money. Very friendly staff during the day, extreme helpful. Location was great
Review 40:Wifi not received in room. Night receptionist did not understand English but not a big issue.
Review 41:Very handy to ferry for early am sailing. Quieter than expected given room faced street. Did not have breakfast option but found patisserie just round the corner en route to ferry.
Review 42:The entrance is pretty grim but its not so bad after you go upstairs to the lobby.
Review 43:Rooms are spacious and very good with a good bathroom. Breakfast is adequate. Location is excellent but parking is a problem.
Review 44:I you like to sleep with the window open, it was very noisy, but otherwise is OK if you want to run the aircon.
Review 45:small, but clean and comfortable and great location - walking distance to the ferry, train, centre of town, and nearby restuarants etc.
Review 46:We stayed here one night because of it's proximity to the ferry docks. the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and OK. Wifi worked well and there was an elevator.
Review 47:The service was indifferent, the building itself not very well maintained, the bathroom impractical. The description should not refer to public parking in the vicinity etc, but just state, as the receptionist said : "There is no parking. Period".
Review 48:1. Stairway looks old and dirty 2. It is difficult to find parking spot around the hotel (due to its location in the center)
Review 49:Very good location, soundproof windows, comfortable bed and very kind staff
Review 50:Difficulty of parking if you arrive on a Sunday morning when the flea market is in progress. The volume of cars and the general lack of parking places.
Review 51:Extremely helpful staff. Excellent position for exploring Bastia.
Review 52:Unfriendly staff, who didnt speak English.
Review 53:Good location to spend a night before catching a ferry in Bastia. Simple, but clean and recently renowated rooms. Central location, also very close to the port.
Review 54:AC did not work in our room and internet either. The hotel is old and shabby, not welcoming at all. Not worth spending money there. To AVOID
Review 55:The location is convenient
Review 56:The room was very basic. There was no hair dryer and my husband even had to go to reception in order to ask for a remote control for the television. Also, the building seems to be half finished only, with the approach to the reception and parts of the hallways and staircases in very bad repair. We found this very off putting.
Review 57:I liked the location. We only stayed one night in Bastia but were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. It you are arriving/departing by ferry, this is a great location. We had a rental car and were able to find free parking very close to the hotel.
Review 58:The outside noise from very early in the morning - a/c not working
Review 59:The location - excellent if arriving by ferry and for access to restaurants, old port etc (and for local Hertz office !!)
Review 60:Poor breakfast if you don't like the french one with croissants only.
Review 61:Just 5 min. from ferries. Clean room, comfortable beds and amaising view on ferries.
Review 62:Clean,quiet, convenient, friendly
Review 63:the noise of cars in the streets
Review 64:Close to centre of Bastia and close to restaurants
Review 65:Didn't have a bar fridge
Review 66:Position is great staff on reception helpful and it's reasonably priced Have to give it a 10
Review 67:The wifi was poor and slow
Review 68:Location very close to ferry terminal
Review 69:location perfect for ferry and car rental
Review 70:Good location when arriving or leaving on Ferry. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable.
Review 71:No Wifi
Review 72:Location
Review 73:Proximity to ferry and bus station. Reception chap couldn't have been more helpful - offered and gave us a lift to the bus in his own car!
Review 74:lift from entrance up to reception on 1st floor
Review 75:located close to the ferry terminals
Review 76:Staff very friendly and helpful, Abdel is a very good receptionist
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:Service versus price
Review 79:Very close to ferries. Basic but ok.
Review 80:internet connection not working
Review 81:perfect location late arrival, 2 min from the port!
Review 82:Door from corridor on third floor a bit difficult to open
Review 83:Just over the road from ferry terminal
Review 84:Location and accommodating staff
Review 85:Slightly odd shared staircase gives scruffy appearance, but was fine inside.
Review 86:Well located, lovely staff, generous breakfast in pleasant room
Review 87:noise inside and from street, breakfast, staff, state of building, room.
Review 88:Close to ferries
Review 89:No parking
Review 90:price, location
Review 91:We had to wait half an hour to do the check in. Building dated.
Review 92:Well located near the harbour of Bastia.
Review 93:The location, being about 10 mins walk to the ferry port.
Review 94:Nothing!
Review 95:The location was ideal, the staff was charming and very helpful. The room was very clean and functional.
Review 96:bad cleaning product smell. NO AC. noisy. overrated
Review 97:location
Review 98:Very basic room , VERY VERY BASIC ROOM
Review 99:Close to ferry
Review 100:noise around 6am in the morning bathroom clean bt needs some fixing
Review 101:clean price quality location felt welcome as a customer
Review 102:WLAN passwords are only valid for 3 hours or so which is very annoying
Review 103:Good Beds
Review 104:Great location especially for the ferry. Very friendly staff. Room basic but comfortable and good value for money
Review 105:It was ok for one night. Never managed to get into wifi.
Review 106:Great location. Close to the city centre, the train and the ferry.
Review 107:Parking is non existent... despite what you read or are told.
Review 108:Large renovated room close to ferry and restaurants.Breakfast is okay..
Review 109:Confortable and conveniemt for port
Review 110:We decided to stay overnight after having arrived on the ferry from Livorno. Walking distance from the ferry terminal, convenient to shopping, restaurants and staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Room and bathroom facilities super clean. A comfortable stay and priced right.
Review 111:Friendly staff but not much English spoken. Bags of laundry lying in corridors and overwhelming smell of cheap cleaning products.
Review 112:Close to the port which meant early morning ferry departure was very easy. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 113:The room was basic and we chose to go out rather than pay extra for coffee and a croissant. It was quite noisy (our window was above a bar).
Review 114:The central location, not far from the bus stop was very convenient for our one-night stay in Bastia at the start of our holiday. Our room was ready before the advertised time which was much appreciated.
Review 115:The shower over the bath was dreadful with the fixed shower head spraying out over the edge of the bath onto the floor.
Review 116:As we were catching the ferry to Italy and had to return our rental car to Europcar, the location was perfect. Good size room with restaurants, cafes and the old town all within 5 to 15 minutes walk.
Review 117:Parking. Booking.com says there is free public parking nearby. That is not correct. The only free parking is on the street, and that means you are not guaranteed a space. If you cannot park on the street you will have to go to an underground parking garage and pay 14 euro for overnight.
Review 118:Hotel Riviera, for a basic 2-star hotel, is surprisingly comfortable. The location near the main square and its many cafes is excellent. The breakfast is reasonably priced, and good.
Review 119:Parking was a nightmare although we did manage to get close to the hotel on each of our 4 nights.
Review 120:A city centre hotel. Close to all attractions and restaurants. Very nice staff and a superb continental breakfast. Extremely clean.
Review 121:Stayed one night in Bastia while waiting before catching an early ferry. Room was nice, sizable and clean. Very centrally located with easy city and ferry access.
Review 122:Basic facilities. Could have benefited from a kettle and a hairdryer.
Review 123:very near to the port for catching the ferry. Walking distance to station and restaurants for the evenings. Hotel very clean.
Review 124:I had a very pleasant stay here. It's clean, well furnished and the staff were very helpful, re-setting the table when I arrived late for breakfast and everyone was always polite and smiling and made you feel you were staying in their home and not in a hotel.Location is excellent, in front of the park, near bars for a coffee and only 5 mins walk from the ferry. Highly recommended.
Review 125:The staff was not fluent in English. There is no hair dryer in the room, but can borrow from the reception. One of the doors of our shower was missing, so water spreaded all over the floor of bathroom.
Review 126:The location is good. We got a three beds room with a double bed reservation.
Review 127:On the confirmation from Booking.com it stated that the one night tariff would be charged by the hotel on the day of booking so we were surprised when told that we had to pay. We checked our credit card statement on line and discovered that the payment had not been taken so we did still have to pay. No problem with paying, just a little confusing at the time.
Review 128:This is a clean, comfortable and central hotel in Bastia. It is easy to find by car and very close to the ferry wharf. Right in the city for exploring on foot. Reception is on the first floor and the rooms above with a lift for luggage. We were able to park outside by luck so didn't find out about the advertised parking. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Wifi was very good in our room on the 2nd floor at the front and double glazing stopped all city noise.
