Reviews for Hospedaje Villa Pilar
Review 1:Was cool when we were there and heating seemed to automatically turn on and off. Was cold when we came home one evening and again when we woke up one morning. Sent a message to staff (not on site but nearby) and they fixed up. We did not eat in Santillana del Mar but despite being winter there appeared to be more options available for more reasonable prices than covered in Lonely Planet or the comments here.eg Menu del Dia for around €11 - €12.
Review 2:Octavio was extremely helpful and provided lots of information about the area. Was a great base to explore the mountains and the coast, and of course Altimera and Santillana del Mar. Room was generously sized with great hot shower with pressure. Easy to park in front of hotel.
Review 3:Nothing. Excellent facilities and service.
Review 4:Our second stay at this wonderful guest house was even better than the first. Spacious rooms with easy parking and close enough to walk to the main centre. Breakfast was delivered to our room which we enjoyed on the balcony with great views. Great value for the standard of accommodation provided and very friendly owners who do all they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Review 5:The location, close to the town centre. The cleanliness of the room and the hospitality of the owners. Snacks and drinks are available 24/7 at very reasonable rates.
Review 6:Nothing :)
Review 7:Owner is passionate about her Hospedaje and the region, which made the stay a real pleasure. She was lovely, offering information on the region and all of Spain! The facilities are great and unique, a candy bar, refreshments, breakfast available, DVDs and a charming room. Just outside of the old town, which is nice!
Review 8:Orange juice with breakfast would have been welcomed.
Review 9:The owner was very helpful and gave lots of good advice on where to visit in the region. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We didn't use the hydro-bath which can be prepared with candles for a romantic evening! Perhaps next time.
Review 10:Nothing!
Review 11:5 mins to centre of Santillana del Mar, but can park outside. Large decent size room, dog friendly too. Excellent value and very friendly host, speaks perfect English.

Review 17:A little difficult to find. House number not accepted by satnav.
Review 18:Good friendly hotel. Owners went out of their way to be helpful.
Review 19:It's not a big negative, but if the pension is closed when you arrive you'll need to ring at the building next door (2nd floor) where the owners live. I needed to figure this out as there was no sign. Again, not a negative for me, but just a heads up for future travelers. A very nice stay!
Review 20:Octavio and Noelia were very friendly and hospitable. A delightful couple! The place is very cozy with complimentary candies and a pay-as-you-go bar on the honor system. I could stay later in the morning with no problem on check out time. Good location at the edge of town so it was quiet.
Review 21:Welcoming owners and very hospitable. A quirky place with sweets galore with their compliments in the lobby. Close to town so car can be left at vila and walk in. Relaxed breakfast, making the stay good value for money. Would stay again!
Review 22:We appreciated so much the warm welcome and the nice surroundings; we were able to take a beautiful walk into the city and enjoy an authentic meal from the region which was delicious.. The room was comfortable, well insulated from noise, and the spa tub was great !
Review 23:Very personal service with plenty of information about the local areawhich was wonderful. In a quiet location just a short walk from the maincentre and room size and views were a pleasant surprise for the pricepaid. Would definitely return.
Review 24:The location is a bit rural but because of the terrible weather we couldnot investigate the area so could not comment on things to do.there wasonly a small cafeteria open for food, which served only burgers andsandwiches, which, being gluten intolerant,I could not eat.breakfast iscontinental.the floors are tiled as is the norm so slippers would beadvisable especially if the weather is rubbish. D be advisable
Review 25:The owner was very friendly.the room was big with whirlpool bath andseparate bathroom.the bed was lovely and comfortable and so were thepillows.the heater took a little working out but kept us cosy on ahorrible night.the owner even delivered our continental breakfast to ourroom early as we wanted an early start.very friendly andaffordable.there was even an honesty box for drinks and snacks! Plentyof free David's to borrow if needed.would stay again if in the area.
