Reviews for Hôtel De Paris

Review 1:The room was not clean. It was probably never vacuumed before we came because the floor was very dirty. There was a plant on the table in the room that died a long time ago, but was still there, with layers of mould on it. The dead leaves of the plant were on the table and the floor. The shower was covered with hairs of previous guests. We wanted to say something about it, but there was no one at the reception. At that time it was around 19.00h and the reception should be open till 22.00h. We checked again multiple times till 21.30h. Rang the bell on the counter, knocked on the office door, rang the telephone...nothing. We even ran into some new guests that were trying to check in and couldn't! They left a note, we decided to do the same, we didn't get a response that evening. At the check out the next morning, we tried to explain what happened, but inspite of the sign on the counter saying "we speak English", they couldn't. In the end we spoke to the owner who knew some English. He came up with a solution, but in a slightly agitated way and we left with an uncomfortable feeling.

Review 2:It was located in the centre of the village, near the station. The wifi worked well. The bed linen was clean. In the end they came with a solution to our complaints.

Review 3:Host smoked all the time we saw him even when serving customers. Smelt of smoke everywhere you went. In the foyer on arrival, in the elevator, the hallways, the bedroom even though we had a non smoking room. Wardrobe wreaked of smoke. Absolutely disgusting. Not good if you are a non smoker.

Review 4:Good car park/good wi fi.

Review 5:There was a n unpleasant smell in lobby and down in the back entrance. The rooms are clean and neat but a bit squashed for 4 adults.

Review 6:Room fine for couple and two kids, a double bed and bunk beds right next to the double bed. Staff friendly but very little English.

Review 7:Restaurant was temporarily closed in evening. When we returned at 9pm with own dinner the building was in darkness with no lighting on lower floor and bar/dining area locked so we had to eat in our room despite notices to the contrary.

Review 8:Breakfast was reasonable despite confusion on first morning.

Review 9:Very unorganized given uncleaned room at first. Tried to increase cost of breakfast by 50% on arrival did not accept

Review 10:Nice room

Review 11:Stuff

Review 12:Parking

Review 13:Manners and short temper of Le landlord !

Review 14:Superb location for motorcycle trip. Secure 3x garage parking. Albert the Owner/Manager great guy really helpful!

Review 15:Bed was terriible, gave me a sore back

Review 16:Good location

Review 17:Location

Review 18:Friendly staff, secure parking for motortbikes.

Review 19:L'hôtelier

Review 20:The location

Review 21:Breakfast was substantial but limited. The evening set meal was 3 courses for 18 euros. It would have been nice to have had the choice of a 2 course meal i.e. starter and main course or main course and desert say for 12 euros. No kettle, and the T.V. was just local stations.

Review 22:Location and parking facilities. Nice sizeable room and bathroom.

Review 23:I booked a single but got a room that could sleep three (3 x single beds) so it was quite large. My top floor skylight window had great views of the mountains, but it was too high to look through normally. Staff were friendly and there was a restaurant and bar in the hotel where you could go to eat or drink. Free carpark was convenient and Wi-Fi worked well.

Review 24:Housekeeping start vacuum cleaning at eight o'clock in the morning. Difficult to relax on holiday with that amount of noise going on.

Review 25:Friendly staff, flexible with check in.

Review 26:The facilities for Bicycles was great, they were safe and secure. The view was great the environment was relaxed. The signage as you are driving into Briancon from the norther was great I did not get lost.

Review 27:clean, simple, and comfortable hotel, with helpful and friendly staff, also very practical when you arrive by train and stay only 1 night as it is very near the station.

Review 28:Basic accommodation. Breakfast not included. We stayed here the night ofthe solstice, which we found to be a big party all over France, so itwas good it was just outside (walkable distance) from town. Briancon wasa great little mountain town and would recommend to anyone.

Review 29:Breakfast was pretty basic & the guy running the place was most unfriendly & even just weird & unhelpful. I asked him if there was any way of helping us with our large amount of luggage to get to the station, he looked at me blankly and said he was only a two star hotel and what did i expect !!! He said a taxi would not come & he even refused to call one ! I went out into the street, was lucky to find a large VW 9 seater & flagged him down. The taxi guy was great. We will never want to stay there again & definately never meet that awful man again !!!! He just stood there and watched me struggle to carry out about 10 bags through two sets of doors to the taxi .... weird !!!

Review 30:The lady when we arrived was charming. The rooms were fine, a nice little balcony with a view overlooking the railway yards & onwards to the moutains. Close to the railway station was what we needed.

Review 31:The dinner menu was very limited and the meal was not particularly good value. I'd not eat dinner there again.

Review 32:The location, between the train station and downtown was perfect. The price was very reasonable, and the WiFi worked fine.

Review 33:If visiting Old Briancon it's at the bottom of the hill, but a very pleasant pedestrian walk. Ask for directions.

Review 34:Welcoming reception. Nice restaurant and outside area. Clean. Convenient on main road into Briancon. near railway station, but very quiet at night.

Review 35:Hôtel De Paris is ideal for a one night stay or more. The staff was veryfriendly and helpful with questions about travel and local attractions, and if they didn't have an answer they found someone who did. Thefood served was very good, and there are good local restaurants too. There is customer parking and a secure garage for motorcycles. A visitto Briancon must include a visit to the original mid-evil walled city.If skiing is your sport there is lots next door.

Review 36:Towels were not changed, smell from toilet, no cups for breakfast (drink from a large pot!) Small town two star in need of modernisation.

Review 37:Convenient centre for touring

Review 38:single bed was too narrow and the shower curtain

Review 39:very helpful and cheerful owners who speak a bit of English and the location is close to the train station but quiet

Review 40:Extremely warm, friendly, and helpful owners and staff. They had agracious attitude and went the extra mile in helping solve some travelcomplications I encountered (late arrival, etc.). I can't recommend thehotel more highly.

Review 41:decor was lacking. not well insulated between rooms- could hear walking above room. no breakfast included.

Review 42:affordability. house dog. helpful and friendly owner. spacious bathroom. charming hotel.

Review 43:Our room was older and not on the booking.com pictures

Review 44:Very friendly reception. Family atmosphere. View from the room window. Quiet location. WiFi. Parking included.

Review 45:The bedroom was small with one double bed. There was one long pillowacross the entire bed, but fortunately two spare pillows were found andone thin blanket. The bathroom was basic with shower, washbasin andtoilet. The shower head was positioned so high and at an angle that thewater shot across the shower to the opposite wall rather than on me.There was no shelf to put soap or shampoo other than lying on the floorof the shower. The hotel is a cardiac arresting walk from the Fortresson the hill, and should not be attempted by those over 50, especially ona hot day. The breakfast was basic. The staff were disinterested.

Review 46:There is only one thing going for this hotel, its location near therailway station. Good parking Nice view of the fortress from our room.

Review 47:The staff were really helpful and the hotel was clean and very good value for money. We didn't eat there but supermarket, pharmacy and restaurants were within easy walking distance.

Review 48:The proprietors were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room was ideal, except for the poor shower head. Breakfast was tremendous value. Very close to the railway station, so no problems making early starts or arriving late in the day, and to the town centre. The walk up to the walled town was good for a work-out!

Review 49:Obviously it is not like the Hotel de Paris in Monte-Carlo, but for the price if far than enouhn ... is an excellent choise. I recommend it. Has everything needed: Ultra-clean, recently repainted, calm, with parking, free wifi .... Really, highly recommended.

Review 50:We had a great few days in Briancon for walking and cycling complimentedby our stay at the Hotel De Paris. The staff were very friendly andhelpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Idealhotel for any sort of mountain activity.

Review 51:The man who also own the hotel together with his wife does not speak any English and does not even try to communicate in a proper manner. Not very friendly. When checking in we we asked if we wanted to eat dinner and / or breakfast at the hotel. When we respectfully declined we almost felt like we did something wrong. There was some pressure to eat at the hotel. Also the hotel is located very near train tracks so if you are sensitive to noice this could be a problem.

Review 52:The women who owns the hotel speaks English and provide good service. The hotel offers free private parking at the back of the hotel.

Review 53:Being in the town and on a main street there was traffic noise. Not a complain just an observation.

Review 54:Central location for the town and easy access to surrounding countryside

Review 55:Didn't like the switch in the breakfast where it appeared to have gone more european than usual. We didn't appereciate having to drink coffee out of "big rice bowls", which are obviously for the "dunkers". When we asked for coffee cups the only thing they could find was one dirty one and one chipped one. Needless to say we couldn't say that we enjoyed the breakfast which to us wasn't worth 8 euros.

Review 56:We have stayed at this hotel before and can't fault it for situation and the parking is excellent. Rooms OK and WiFi free. Very clean.

Review 57:Their evening meal was excellent value for money and they were very helpful with dietary requirements. We had a room at the back and the view of the hill-top town and fort was stunning and a real joy to wake up to. There are views of the mountains from the front, but there is a road as well. Although the hotel is at the bottom of the hill leading up to the old town, there are regular buses until mid evening and the hotel has free passes for it. The walk back is no problem! It has a large car park and is close to the station so very easy for access. There is no air conditioning, but this was a bonus - this is the highest town in Europe and the morning air was terrific.

Review 58:Everything was great!

Review 59:We found this hotel execellent due to Agnes, the lady at the reception, who was so friendly to reserve the quiet room, we had asked for whenbooking at booking.com (as opposed to the Hotel De Belgique in Menton,56 Euro). The price is 55 Euro, the car could be parked in the backyard, our room was to the backyard and thus very quiet. We could sleep! Agneswas very friendly and helpful to us and to the other arriving guests.Briancon is a really nice city with the old town worth visiting andAgnes explained to us how to leave the old town to get into a beautifulpark and back to the hotel. Thank you, Agnes, for your helpingfriendliness!

Review 60:It was difficult on occasion to find a member of staff

Review 61:I had my bike with me and they had a safe area for it to be stored. Most the staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 62:Easy to find (well signed), delightful welcome, nothing was too muchtrouble for the staff. Free parking. Our room was spotless andbeautifully prepared. We heeded prior comment and requested a roomoverlooking the rear yard (and consequently looking at the old walledcity) and peaceful. It's a charming older hotel.

Review 63:We didn't like the big hotel dog that roamed about the foyer and alldownstairs public spaces yuk! Room too small and sound proofing poor alot of noise from upstairs; This was not a comfortable hotel at all

Review 64:Extremely professional staff, very efficient, considerate, gentle to children and eager to satisfy all our requests. We have been most lucky to stay at Hotel de Paris and meet the wonderful owners and restaurant staff. I warmly recommend this place.

Review 65:The male staff was impolite and reluctant to answer our question. Pleasebe reminded that you are not allowed to have any food in the room. Itseems that if you do not join the paid dinner and breakfast, the hotelkeeper would be unhappy. However, their breakfast & dinner were notattractive. You also not allowed to wash clothing in your room !!! Weare required to walk form hotel to ski lift in 15 mins. It was quite anunpleasant experience especially when you are in full gear of skiequipment and walk everyday.
