Reviews for Hotel Belle Epoque

Review 1:Convenient location. 5 minutes walk into centre of Beaune, but quiet. Secure parking. Comfortable room. Good wifi. Able to leave car in car park after checking out.

Review 2:Too bad no restaurant at the hotel but has no impact on the rating. Nearby are some very good restaurants.

Review 3:Great hotel in a great location close to the center. Breakfast was excellent Room great and spacious

Review 4:We were greeted,if you can call it that with..'you've got to move your car..' and ''unless you tell me that you want breakfast by 21.00 tonight you're not getting any..its not included.

Review 5:Great location for Beaune which is so lovely

Review 6:My husband walks with a brace, and hotel was kind enough to give us a handicapped room, though not really needed. It was huge, which my husband loved! Set in a courtyard, with a little table out front (where we enjoyed a nice picnic), and great parking. Wonderful staff!

Review 7:The receptionist upon check-in. She was rude, unfriendly, unhelpful and acted as though we were interrupting her 3pm afternoon!! The room was large, but very dark in color which wasn't very inviting.

Review 8:The location and the breakfast.

Review 9:Hotel was convenient to restaurants and sights. Evening staff person gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was very good and well worth the charge. Plenty of parking for our rental car. Room was very clean and comfortable. The town of Beaune is very cute and the restaurants were wonderful. Also enjoyed a hot air baloon ride.

Review 10:Typical of many hotels in France the room lighting was not great but acceptable. We had breakfast on only one morning and found it poor and over priced.

Review 11:Our room in the main building was large and quiet. Location was very close to an entry to the old town and had a good small restaurant across the street. Staff were friendly and ok with the English language. Bathroom was well lighted and had a good shower. Parking was very good and reasonably priced.

Review 12:Need to provide equipment to carry luggage to room from parking, Difficult with suitcase wheels on the gravel!

Review 13:good parking, close to downtown. Nice rooms Warm bar!

Review 14:Some staff were quite friendly but others were a bit brief and not full of personality---may be because they were working hard, multi-tasking with breakfast and manning the reception desk. Towels could have been a bit larger/thicker.

Review 15:Fantastic location near the center town, and a beautiful physical building in courtyard. We stayed in the old building and it was quite scenic. Breakfast very good---as long as you know to ask for eggs and add-ons which are not necessarily offered. Large room--twin-bedded comfort room.

Review 16:Room 6 is next to the covered entrance and the bell that rings every time someone comes in or out is annoying

Review 17:The Hotel is short walk from a vibrant Town

Review 18:It wasn't really a bad experience and something others have noted. The property is older and the hallways quite dark and worn. But the positive aspects far outweighed the need for an upscale experience for our purposes. The charge for breakfast was a bit much. No buffet. Served what you asked for. Cheese? (2 pieces) Ham? (2 pieces), etc. Should have gone elsewhere, but the convenience once again outweighed the issue.

Review 19:Great location. We had a car and could easily get in and out of the area quickly, but we could also walk a few blocks to the old town center and some really great restaurants...one just a few doors away! The staff was really great and helped us with a problem we were having with another booking.com property.

Review 20:None of this bothered me at all, but obviously in a 3 star hotel you aren't going to get a gym and pool etc. and a few of the other (occasionally) useful things like an in-room fridge/mini-bar.

Review 21:Beautiful hotel, with very charming and comfortable rooms. The location is a very short walk into the centre of Beaune. Onsite parking is easy and cheap. The staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was reasonably priced and was nice. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Review 22:Rooms seemed clean but dark colors and not a lot of light plus old rugs did not give us the best of feelings. Bathroom was ok.

Review 23:The hotel has parking and some sort of terrace where you could sit, which esa good. Also justo a few blocks from the center and "Hotel-Dieu". We were three, but it did have space for 5.

Review 24:Wifi was unreliable

Review 25:Location was terrific. Staff was very gracious in three languages: English, Frsnch and German. I figured that wifi would work best when other options fail.

Review 26:The exterior of the hotel is beautifully maintained with flowers galore. There are tables in their courtyard which were very popular. Perfect place to drink wine purchased at the wineries during the day. The hotel has a great location: close to old town and close to the wineries in the vineyards. Really enjoyed a fabulous Saturday morning craft and farmers market in old town. Although the room was large and ok, the bathroom was beautiful. Highly recommended.

Review 27:A bit of a walk into the town centre (7 min) - not an issue for us, but worth mentioning.

Review 28:Traditional French Logis. Charming building, and friendly staff. Nice big room - unusual in France!

Review 29:Room was very dark and smaller than we believed we had booked, access to internet was varied, and staff didn't have time to sort out due to being busy with breakfast, which we understood. However as we found the reception staff not always around we settled out bill the night before we left in order to get way on time

Review 30:Excellent location, easy to find, short walk into town. Nice breakfast. Comfy bed.

Review 31:Having been used to a large selection of items plus hot drinks free to help ourselves to, the experience of having to ask for everything over and above one croissant and some bread on the table was different but not a big problem

Review 32:Charming old building. Nice enclosed terrace off the street. We were travelling by bike and they accommodated this easily. Noticed there seemed to be good car parking facilities.

Review 33:Some stains in the floor carpet in one of the rooms that took the overall impression down slightly.

Review 34:The family suite was very positive experience; spacious and 3 different rooms - just super for 3 travelers or a family.

Review 35:Nohing bad to say :-)

Review 36:Everything in this hotel is awesome. The people are so friendly, the rooms are incredibly big and comfy and the breakfast is delicious.

Review 37:Although within 400m. of the centre of Beaune, the hotel was an oasis of calm. Large, clean and well furnished room ensured a good sleep. Quality bistros and restaurants are within easy walking distance and the hotel offers secure parking.

Review 38:Wished there was a mirror in the room and not just the bathroom. The staff seemed to be stretched a bit thin.

Review 39:Wonderful location. Easy walk to the town center. Great parking off the street. Great bakery 2 doors down

Review 40:Old buildings and top-notch rooms with all the facilities one could want , + added secure parking, within a stone's throw of the town centre - a perfect place with charming staff

Review 41:Close to the centre with secure car parking. Pretty setting with lots of character. We stayed in the main (old) part of the hotel with good size room (high ceiling) & bath room.

Review 42:Very helpfull staff. During our stay we visited several wineries and could store the wines we bought in a climatized room. Breakfast is a bit basic (no cereals, no fruit), but for a change it is nice being served at the table. Fresh orange juice!

Review 43:Nothing to say, all was fine!

Review 44:Beautiful building, bright courtyard decorated with flowers, excellent large bedroom. Very close to all tourist amenities.

Review 45:We were asked if we wanted breakfast and we kept asking how much it was and never got a response. We assumed it was free but was not. I don't think the breakfast was worth the price. Good food but not for that much.

Review 46:Everything else was great!

Review 47:Unfortunately no Refrigerator in the room; in the bathroom a separate magnification mirror to put on eye's make-up would be helpful

Review 48:great Location within Walking distance to City Center; very quiet courtyard with a lot of parking space and possibility to sit there

Review 49:Very poor value breakfast. Awfulmin fact. We wanted to be away early as well but no chance of anything before 7:30am. Small points but f you are on an overnight stop heading either north or south it matters. Staff lovely though and the place itself was just what we wanted.

Review 50:A lovely hotel perfect for strolling around the town of Beaune

Review 51:Excellent location, easy stroll into town centre. We asked for easy access and got an amazing room that was perfect for our needs.Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast on the terrace.

Review 52:No tea or coffee making facilities in the room but available from the hotel bar.

Review 53:A very nice room with lots of space. Secure parking with gates locked overnight so we felt able to leave things in the car.

Review 54:One of the female staff members was not very friendly. The rest of the staff was very pleasant.

Review 55:The location was great.Enjoyed the unique old charm of the building. That goodness they had Air-conditioning. The temperatures were high into the 90's.

Review 56:Lack of privacy in Room number 1 without the curtain closed. Controls for the room lighting were confusing.

Review 57:Proximity to Centre Ville, convenient on-site parking, generous breakfast.

Review 58:Our room was next to the working area of the cleaning staff. They began a noisy work day around 8 a.m. and we could hear doors being slammed and personnel exchanging greetings. There was no safe in the room nor a minibar/fridge. For a room costing almost 200 euros these are not things you would overlook.

Review 59:The main advantage of this hotel is its backyard that doubles as a parking. Finding a spot in a small town like Beaune is always a challenge so a parking is a welcome feature. Our room was fine as we upgraded to a superior category. It was spacious with marble floors. The room was furnished with nice homey furniture which made it look less like an impersonal hotel room.

Review 60:Beaune is a beautiful town and this is a great spot to visit it from - just 5 mins walk from the old town centre. You approach through a stone arch into a courtyard where the ground floor rooms are arranged - there are similar ones above, up a spiral staircase in a wooden tower. There are also rooms in the main building. Another non-restaurant hotel (they do breakfast on the terrace) but this didn't matter as we had a town-full to choose from. There were six of us - we took a double and put the four kids in a really good family room - which could have taken five easily. Private parking - though limited spaces for tall cars and those with big roof-boxes (we ended up in one of the handicapped spaces, having checked with the concierge). Helpful staff - gave us a map of the town etc etc - recommended the Dali museum which is definitely worth a visit. Rooms comfortable buy not ostentatious. The bar looked cosy - but we never got a chance to try it.

Review 61:'Fixed' breakfast means less option to choose personal favourites- no 'carte' to choose from no tea or coffee facility in room (unlike virtaully every hotel in the world )

Review 62:Loved room decor . Loved Beaune and locatioon Friendly staff Quality of food at breakfast Nice breakfast room

Review 63:On arrival the 'greeting' by a female receptionist was offhand and we felt distinctly unwelcome. Our room was very dark with small windows and an unpleasant damp smell which persisted throughout the trip. We did ask if another room was available but almost before we had finished the question she waved us away with annoyed disdain and said the hotel was full.

Review 64:The location was excellent and the onsite parking good( even though it cost 5 euros a day.)

Review 65:The bathroom only had a primitive hand-held shower which I felt was a bit lacking in a hotel of this price.

Review 66:Great location for visiting the centre of Beaune and good secure car park. Quiet despite location.

Review 67:Everything! We stayed in the "old" part of the building, the rooms are beautiful and full ofcharacter, whilst still having modern amenities.

Review 68:Wifi too slow. Breakfast too expensive (12 EUR/person)

Review 69:Authentic atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very close walking distance to historical part of Beaune and its main sight, the Hospice.

Review 70:One member of staff seemed less friendly but perhaps she was having an off day.

Review 71:Atmospheric hotel in a very convenient location for the centre of Beaune. The lovely historic centre, several excellent restaurants and wine shops and cellars full of wines from the most famous vineyards, at decent prices. The hotels reception staff were friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful beamed room in the main building just up from the fabulous art deco stained glass landing window.

Review 72:At breakfast my husband politely pointed out to the waitress, when she enquired whether everything was OK, that his coffee was cold. The owner(?) marched up to us and very loudly told my husband that he should have said so 'before'. He was ridiculously angry and this very public and totally un-called-for confrontation rather spoiled what was otherwise a pleasant stay.

Review 73:Excellent location, large and comfortable room

Review 74:The Belle Epoque is a lovely small hotel in a very central location, 5 minutes max from the centre of the town. The receptionist who checked us in was extremely friendly and helpful and even changed our designated room. Wonderful to have air con on such a hot evening.

Review 75:Room was too small for grown family with only one bathroom and steep stairs to second floor bedroom. Pictures on Booking.com were deceiving in that it made accommodation look larger than it was. Daytime staff was stiff and unfriendly, while PM staff were more accommodating.

Review 76:Loction near center of market area in old town

Review 77:Cramped room, very expensive breakfast (some rolls, jam, coffee and juice) and a parking fee.

Review 78:Close to the autoroute, yet also a less than 5 min walk away from the town center

Review 79:This place was nothing like it appeared on the website. Wifi not strong. Trouble with connection Do not take their advice on restaurant.

Review 80:Breakfast was lovely. Real french - bread basket, pot of coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice in outdoor area. Very close to centre of Beaune.

Review 81:A bit outside the city center and a bit far from the train station (we walked), but still worth it!

Review 82:Stunning terrace for breakfast and wine. Extremely helpful and attentive staff.

Review 83:The WiFi is subpar, but this seems to be related to lack of fiber optic cable in Beaune (to be remedied by 2017). The air conditioning could be a bit stronger, especially in the heat of midsummer.

Review 84:Plenty of charm, great location, friendly staff. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.

Review 85:lack of fresh fruit as an inclusive breakfast option, this is an area of abundant fresh produce, especially fruit.

Review 86:We were given the quiet room we requested with air conditioning. Reception gave us a map of the city with key visitor locations, also, on request, a restaurant for the first night, which was excellent.

Review 87:Nothing to do with the hotel but for a town in the centre of a wine growing area, the bar and restaurants were very creative with their drink prices!

Review 88:As soon as we turned into the car park the concierge was out directing me to my space and throughout our brief overnight stay, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very tastefully decorated and comfortable and spacious. It was only a short walk into the centre and we enjoyed the picturesque town. All in all a good hotel to stay in.

Review 89:Bar closes at 10 pm - so, okay if you are dedicated to an early night, but it you feel like a late nightcap you're in the wrong place.

Review 90:Plenty of on-site parking at a fair price. Good sized room and excellent room in the bath room. Staff friendly and helpful and ready to speak English as best they can, or work with you on your own French (which doesn't happen in Paris).

Review 91:Reception was unmanned and we had to wait on arrival. We could hear other residents, using WC and coughing. When we informed the staff of a malfunctioning shower he did not thank us or apologise.

Review 92:Location, parking

Review 93:Breakfast was nice but not included in the hotel price which made it a bit less good value for money. The room was clean but there is a little problem with dust- smells a bit worn out (curtains and carpet). Maybe I am a super sensitive to this issue...

Review 94:the staff was helpful and friendly, the private parking was good as promised, the room was on 1st floor, as we asked for, and all in all met our expectations.

Review 95:Nothing to report

Review 96:This old hotel is lying only 5 minutes walk from the center. Parking is inside the hotel yard with a gate closing at 2200 hrs. Breakfast is good and service very attentive.

Review 97:The lighting in our room was very dim

Review 98:The staff members were helpful and friendly and the location was perfect. The parking was easy, plentiful and secure.

Review 99:The hotel is only two steps away from two of the best restaurants in Beaune, and 5 minutes from the Hospice de Dieu a fascinating and beautiful building. I The hotel is an interesting old building, but very quiet.Beautiful Art Nouveau glasswork.

Review 100:We had a family room on two floors and it was looking a little tired. The bathroom needed updating and smelt a little stale.

Review 101:Great breakfast, friendly staff only 10 minutes walk from centre of Beaune and all its facilities and restaurants. Secure parking.

Review 102:There is no lift and the nice room was on the third floor with an Amsterdam steep narrow staircase...not for the faint of heart or elderly.

Review 103:The hotel is so conveniently located and has on premise parking! Walking distance to the town center. Terrific food, shopping, sights with friendly helpful people everywhere. Laundry near St. Nicolas.

Review 104:No Wi Fi

Review 105:Loved the location in the centre of pretty Beaune. We had the family rooms (3) for 5 of us which was ok but probably better suited to younger children. Nice friendly hotel in a great place to break the drive back from the Alps

Review 106:Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating since we were delayed in the Alp's snow storms and arrived very late - really appreciated their courtesy and flexibility.

Review 107:The wifi didn't reach to all bedrooms in the quad room.

Review 108:The staff was incredibly kind, and helpful. From the beginning when we arrived late by train and they called a taxi for us to sending some croissants with us on our next train trip. The location was perfect, an easy walk into the middle of town. The quad room was very roomy, and quiet. The breakfast was very good too.

Review 109:nothing, all good

Review 110:Helpful staff, decor, comfortable beds, bathrooms were pretty good, excellent value for money, just a couple of door away from excellent natural wine bar

Review 111:History and atmosphere of building. Friendly manager.v good breakfasts but not immediately obvious that there is such a wide variety which is cooked to order so is nice and fresh the way you ask for. would be a good idea to place a small notice on each table advising what's available and telling people they just need to let the staff know what they want. Also can recommend the fab little wine bar a few doors down , towards town. Lovely staff, food and variety of wines. Go!

Review 112:Could have tea and coffee facilities in room. not.much character in the rooms. everywhere cold no lounge facility. Very grumpy receptionist!

Review 113:The location was good, ideal for the centre of town. Parking was secure. Rooms clean.

Review 114:The double room was a bit small, and there were no large, bath-size towels. There is no privacy as the groundfloor windows overlook the carpark and courtyard, so I imagine in the summer this could be a problem if one wants to open a window.

Review 115:We were very happy with the hotel and will stay there again outside the summer months.

Review 116:Breakfast was fine but croissants were dry and not fresh, next time would probably go into town for breakfast.

Review 117:Great location, off street parking, although you pay €5.00. Comfort room is very spacious. Quiet, slept well, we would return.

Review 118:The room was extremely dark and the lighting was poor, except in the bathroom. It was also very noisy, as our room was located at the front of the hotel, getting both street noise and the noise of other guests coming and going. The air conditioning unit was located up high on the wall, out of reach, and we did not even realize that is what is was till the staff showed us the next morning (the switch was hidden in the window well, behind the curtains). The clerk during the day was very unpleasant. To her credit, she did ask the manager at one point to help us with an issue, but dealing with her on her own left a very bad taste in my mouth. When I apologized (in French) for disturbing her when I could not figure out the lights after she showed us that there was a master switch for the whole room, she turned on her heel and left without a word.

Review 119:The location was fairly convenient, being just outside the periphery walls. The breakfast room and courtyard were pleasant. The parking lot, once you negotiated the maze, was fairly spacious. The room - we had a comfort double - was clean and spacious and had a great bathroom. The breakfast was generous and very good, with eggs upon request. The evening front desk clerk was a gem. I was having trouble accessing email and he helped me navigate some technical issues on my phone as well as the hotel computer.

Review 120:No elevator to the 2nd floor. request a first floor room.

Review 121:The rooms were very nice with no noise frm the street, despite being directly over it. The staff was very friendly.

Review 122:No TV control in room, no one checked prior arrival or even after room cleaned the next day. Not very welcoming staff, breakfast lady was disinterested, front staff more keen to let me know of penalties if I checked out earlier. Poor and old furniture in the room, no minibar or coffee making facilities, room needs complete overall to cater to today's clientele, like a lot of hotels in France, they are living in the past but still charging current hotel rates.

Review 123:Location on the outskirts of the ancient town with easy pedestrian access. Guest room was spacious but let down by totally wrong lighting. Good parking facilities.

Review 124:Nothing

Review 125:Very comfortable quiet large room. Large washroom with heater for towels. Great location walking distance to restaurants, sights, etc. has secure private parking. staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Review 126:Wifi was slow/ so-so

Review 127:Breakfast was good value and great food choices with made to order eggs Location was excellent , very short walk into old town Parking was great onsite vs inside old town

Review 128:It would be nice to have duvet instead of bedspread

Review 129:Nice comfortable large quiet room, wifi worked great and 2 minute walking distance to the old town, restaurants, etc. safe parking. This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. Would recommend it

Review 130:Cleanliness, staff,breakfasts-would be advisable for management to put a little sign on each breakfast table saying what is available from kitchen to order eg eggs cooked however you want-as some people might miss that

Review 131:Unfortunately the bed was very hard, but that is the only thing I could possibly criticise

Review 132:Loved the well appointed room very spacious, beautiful furnishings, extremly helpful staff, would go back to stay again

Review 133:No comfortable chair for relaxing to read or watch TV. The 2 chairs provided are 'cafe chairs': OK for a brief sit down but not comfortable for longer. Breakfast was the poorest of our 20 day stay in France: limited choice of jams, no fruit, pastries or cereals.

Review 134:Just a few minutes walk from the town centre attractions and local restaurants. Just off the ring road so easy to find. Parking (charge) in courtyard. Good size room with large comfortable bed. Nicely fitted modern bathroom
