Reviews for Hôtel Windsor
Review 1:Breakfast maybe little expensive.
Review 2:Location near promenade (and airportbusstop) and main shoppimg streets is very convenient. Breakfast was good. Ate two times dinner at restaurant, liked the menu and food was great: Recommended to visit! Our room was nice, spatious enough. Everything clean and cozy. Also must say that polite stuff and nice design at hotel!
Review 3:the rooms were decorated in old fashion and wired taste... we changed twice and find a "normal" room. 2nd room they gave us was just painted so there was a smell of the paint.
Review 4:Hotel locates between the beach and the train station so that you do not have to walk too long for both ways. Parking with charge is possible at the hotel. As parking in Nice is really challenging...
Review 5:The rooms need sound proofing. The television in the adjacent room could be heard even when the volume was very low
Review 6:The location was prime. The staff was welcoming and did their very best to ensure that our stay was comfortable.
Review 7:The bathroom was minuscule, you had to sit sideways on the toilets. We were cold at night as the radiator was barely tepid.
Review 8:large comfortable bed and location.
Review 9:Not a bad experience but we were in room 114 and when sitting in the bath, one couldn't reach the soap dispenser.
Review 10:Stayed here for a week over Christmas. Staff very helpful and friendly. Had booked room overlooking garden - lovely and quiet. Ate twice in the evening at the hotel restaurant - food excellent.
Review 11:The other receptionists were not friendly at all with hardly any spoken english.Sauna costs 15 euro for 30mins with early booking=joke. The toilette area very tight no comfy at all.No tea/coffee maker, old furnitures.Elevator too small.
Review 12:Bart the young fella in the reception was friendly and helpfully(his english language's cool) also the other receptionist the day we arrived. They offered an other room for us with balcony,we took it.
Review 13:If the coffee and breakfast had been nicer we would have stayed in for breakfast more often, but local patisserie was really good I didn't find the art in our room, or the garden quite as appealing as the blurb, or the pics.
Review 14:THe hotel was in a great location in an interesting area, less than 10 mins walk to the sea. Nice shops and restaurants, within 5 mins walk especially liked the Coco + rico and 11Art The 2 chairs in the room and the bed were very comfy. Good lighting. Pleasant staff, especially the cleaning lady.
Review 15:The staff, decor, facilities and food were all excellent and exceeded expectations. The location was ideal from our point of view with bus routes a minute from the door, short walk to Promenade Anglais and a wide range of eating places within 10 minutes walk.
Review 16:I would like a bigger swimming pool; I am a keen swimmer so I accept that this won't apply to most people. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as, for a third of the price, we could go to the local bakery!
Review 17:The location was perfect. The hotel is located near many good restaurants, which meant it was easy to avoid the not so good tourist trap restaurants. The rooms were individual, and blissfully free from the corporate, banal decor that is so prevalent in chain hotels. The staff were always helpful and polite.
Review 18:To pay to use the sauna is the only negative I can think of
Review 19:Excellent location , very helpful staff and beautiful unique hotel. My entire family enjoyed our stay at Windsor
Review 20:Room was tiny. Barely enough space for a couple of luggage. Sink blocked on our first day. Hotel needs a major refurbishment. Garden needs maintenance.
Review 21:Location - hotel was an easy walk to the restaurants. Staff were pretty accommodating and helpful
Review 22:Noisy rooms, room service "cart" on the hall during all day, sink in the room (not in the toilet),
Review 23:The best thing on this hotel was the internet.
Review 24:Nothing in particular, we would happily stay again.
Review 25:Welcoming and helpful staff, great location close to restaurants and bars and a short walk to the seafront. Nice to have the garden and small pool and the room was very comfortable. Loved the lift!
Review 26:we had a room on the ground floor, even if it has been a suite I would prefer a room in higher floors Fitness center has basic equipment
Review 27:Walking distance to inner town and major sights small swimming pool in the middle of the town
Review 28:We had a lovely triple room with a mezzanine floor for the extra bed! Also were able to pay hotel for private parking - a real bonus as we didn't need to use our car whilst in Nice.
Review 29:Staff were great and couldn't do enough. My father can't walk very far and they helped me arrange a wheelchair for him. The ground floor room is more disabled friendly than the first floor room he had
Review 30:We have stayed in a few hotels in nice and all provided free bottled water. The pictures on our bedroom wall .
Review 31:The location of the hotel was perfect . The hotel was very quirky and the jungle like garden was beautiful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable .
Review 32:Not good value for money in our opinion. For this money we believe the room & definitely the bathroom to be in better shape.
Review 33:Good location. Safe & comfortable.
Review 34:Staff were surly and we were given a room at first behind the lift! Just felt a bit average and not worth the money. Parking was 200 metres away and this could take 20mins due to the traffic. I wouldn't stay there again.
Review 35:Loved the lift and the location was ok - near the beach
Review 36:Staff not very friendly except for the waiter at the breakfast! Wifi poor. Room pretty small for 2 persons.
Review 37:The building, atmosphere, breakfast, location and the nice and friendly waiter at the breakfast!
Review 38:Not really a huge problem - but about 10+ mins walk to the old town.
Review 39:Great quirky hotel with friendly helpful staff. Really liked the garden area and the art in the lobby. It was a really original place to stay - beautiful older building with unexpected and interesting artwork.
Review 40:The breakfast was shamefully bad- terrible brown water masquerading as coffee and 2 miniature pastries for 6 euros. Maybe I didn't get the best deal but I found it very expensive for what it was
Review 41:The location is good and it's one of the remaining seminal old style hotels in nice. The decor is interesting for art lovers and the garden (with pool) feels like a tropical paradise- just don't forget insect repellant! staff were very helpful.
Review 42:Location excellent; stunning garden, it was a pleasure to enjoy a glass of wine there at the end of a busy day. Very helpful staff - kind to my 80 yr old mum who is not very mobile.
Review 43:The room key was pretty big, would have been nice to have a swipe card. In the pool area you won't get much sun due to the high walls and the plants.
Review 44:The garden was very lovely and the room was very artistic. The elevator was pretty funny. The garden was beautiful with lots of plants and flowers, it also had a parrot cage. The location was great, easy to assess the beach and highstreet / restaurants.
Review 45:Lift kept breaking down and we were on high floor The set up of the pool and barrier around it wasn't as nice as expected and so we didn't use it Wifi was a bit hit and miss in rooms Quite expensive compared to other rooms we've had in nice which we're as good for third less
Review 46:Ambience Reception staff were a delight
Review 47:Not enough space or beds around pool, pool almost sectioned off and not particularly clean. Beautiful enclosed garden but unfortunately this meant lots of mosquitos. Bit too quiet for us- felt like we were intruding.
Review 48:Quirky hotel with interesting rooms, interesting artwork, loved lift with rocket effects. Use of relaxation/gym room with weights (although v hot)etc
Review 49:Have to book several days in advance for dinner. Parking setup very annoying and at additional charge.
Review 50:It's a good hotel well situated and close to many restaurants. Some staff superb, others more surly.
Review 51:Chaotic arrival experience. There's only literally one space where you can park your car temporarily in front of the hotel to unload your luggage. When the space is occupied, you can't use it (and parking situation is TERRIBLE in the area with narrow and one way streets); when the space is free, they block it with some signs and you'll have to get out of the car to remove the signs yourself. Did not feel like 4 star experience upon arrival. The private parking they offer is expensive (€20) for the inconvenience you have to go through. You have to drive 5 mins around the block to get to it from the hotel. One staff looking pissed at me for telling them that I urgently need them to provide me with the private parking location, since there's no where to even stop the car I had to block the road next to the hotel.
Review 52:Nice garden, and the pool. In general the hotel is tastefully decorated.
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:Hotel Windsor was like a little oasis in the city. Loved the quirky art work , but more so the pretty garden was dreamy. All the staff were really thoughtful and helpful.
Review 55:Location far from beach Pool had no sun Breakfast too expensive Room view was a street corner
Review 56:Comfy bed Wifi Fridge in room Close to supermarket, bakery and self service laundry
Review 57:The bathroom was just a little small but very clean
Review 58:Good location, only 3-5min walk from the promenade and the main shopping area and just an extra 5 mins away from the old town. It was very convenient to have a little grocery shop on the same street. Room was spacious with good wifi.
Review 59:Triple room is tight for three. No kettle, no place to dry wet beach stuff. 'Balcony' has only room to stand. Bathroom got seriously flooded by open shower. Breakfast is minimal, not good value for money.
Review 60:Great location, close to beach. Garden and pool area fantastic. Staff nice and helpful.
Review 61:Lift broken on two occasions during stay. Staff kindly offered use of the service lift
Review 62:Staff welcoming, Hotel rooms charming, large bath, Wifi good, Nice little unique pool, Perfect location - 2/3 minute walk to promenade des anglais
Review 63:The only thing that was disappointing was the shower in my bathroom-it was very hard to position it -and it soaked the bathroom floor each time l showered and on my last morning actually soaked through to my room!!!!!
Review 64:The Hotel is lovely with a very pretty garden and l loved the pool-great for a swim at the end of the day. I loved having my breakfast in the garden on the little terrace. Although l was on my own l felt very relaxed in the hotel.
Review 65:That we only got to stay for one night!
Review 66:Quiet retreat in the middle of the city. The beautiful, exotic garden with a pool was perfect for relaxing and reading. Loved it!
Review 67:Rude receptionist. Untrained staff. Rooms are small, for a four star hotel you expet them to be bigger. If there was a problem, the staff thinks its your problem. The pool is extremly cold and dirty.
Review 68:The location is near the beach and the shopping district, but again there are tons of hotels located at the beach.
Review 69:Pool area is a but overgrown
Review 70:Location of hotel is great and so are the themed bedrooms We only had the speedy breakfast so cannot comment on dinner etc
Review 71:Not a criticism of the hotel per se, but their recommended private beach 'Sporting Plage' was overpriced relative to others on the strip, (even after taking the hotel discount into account)
Review 72:Shaded garden & pool, lovely room, quiet location.
Review 73:The garden - an oasis in the centre of a city, particularly for breakfast. We had a 4th floor street-facing room from which we heard no traffic noise. Found parking on the street which was free from 8pm to 9am.
Review 74:Rooms were not 4-star really. They were ok. Art work at the hotel was very strange.
Review 75:The garden and its pool was very nice. Good breakfast outdoors, had a couple of drinks before dinner in the garden as well - very nice and cosy.
Review 76:I really didn't like the staff, they are arrogant and not helpful at all!
Review 77:Location/ the garden with the pool / the room is clean and the bathroom is nice
Review 78:a quiet location but only a couple of blocks from the beach.Close to restaurants, bars, supermarket and ATMs. very good value breakfast. comfortable bedding. extremely helpful and friendly staff. lovely clean heated, outdoor pool in the charming jungle garden.
Review 79:Desk staff not up to speed with the considerable impact that the Nice Marathon would have on public transport. Consequently we wasted a morning trying to get to St Paul de Vence
Review 80:Friendly and comfortable accommodation handy for bus, shops and beach with excellent restaurarnts nearby. Some of the art on display is a little wacky but refreshingly different. Lovely garden.
Review 81:the room and en suite far too small. You could hardly move about. We had to pile up the furniture in order to open a suitcase. We could not have put up with it for more than the one night.
Review 82:The terrace. The artwork, the location, within walking distance of everything.
Review 83:Prob not the best for tanning as the trees give shade but amazing for relaxing. 1 member of staff was very helpful- 1 was in their own French way quite rude.
Review 84:Perfect for romantic getaway- funky pool, bar, deco & garden. Great size room for French standards. Have parking spaces too :)
Review 85:The stuff is not friendly. We had to wait 30 minutes for the taxi we ordered. It turned to be a private driver and he charged even 15 euro more. The stuff wasn't friendly and appologitic for this. The breakfast was too expensive for what it is. There's a lot of noise... the lift sometimes runs out of service etc.
Review 86:The price is bit high.
Review 87:It's very unique design hotel. The best part of the stay is the professional and friendly staff, in the recaption, in the restaurant.
Review 88:The only moan was the plates for breakfast were very small, not enough room for a cooked breakfast and toast
Review 89:Staff were very helpful. We were offered a upgrade at a bargain price which we took as reading comments on this page they stated the intimity rooms were rather small. We had a creation room which was lovely with a garden view and a bath and a shower. We loved the aeroplane in the lift
Review 90:The hotel is 5 mins to the promenade angalaise, 10 minutes to the gare.. laundrettes close by. boulangerie, carefour, other shops are all within walking distance. The staff are very helpful. Yes would recommend.
Review 91:The elevator is a bit scary (I say jokingly) just be prepared for lift-off!
Review 92:The staff were warm and helpful-every one! The room was unique and peaceful. We enjoyed having comfortable chairs and a balcony. The bar and meal service was pleasant.
Review 93:Intimity room with twin beds was small but adequate. Creation rooms much nicer and worth paying the extra for
Review 94:Very pleasant staff who really worked to make sure we were happy
Review 95:We have stayed at Hotel Windsor twice and loved it each time,it is NOT an anonymous, mass produced chain hotel, each room is unique and slightly quirky. Excellent shower, very comfortable bed, great 'set you up for the day' breakfast.
Review 96:Disappointing this visit that the restaurant was closed. However a good range of alternatives in the vicinity. Breakfast good.
Review 97:Returning to a comfortable familiar hotel ideally situated - close to Promenade des Anglais, walking distance from Nice Ville station, good position for buses to Airport and beyond. Charming garden; rooms individually decorated and furnished.
Review 98:There were no down sides.
Review 99:Especially the weather. So good that I was hardly at the hotel. I did like having the International NYT to read over breakfast.
Review 100:stairway areas were run down , rooms were 'designer' - first one was the 'little girls room' which just had different colour heart cushions and a childlike painting on the wall- rather ridiculous .... the second room we were given was slightly better . a jungle scene (I think !) . would have loved to have a nosey at how the other rooms were designed and whether they matched up to the labels that were on each of their bedroom doors but our rooms were designed with a token nod to their description. despite this the room was clean , comfortable ... small with a basic shower room - 2 of us couldn't get in there at once - rooms served their basic purpose. breakfast was extra and was pleasant and varied . staff helpful .
Review 101:clean , comfortable and safe place as I was with my daughter so felt secure .
Review 102:Didn't want to leave.
Review 103:What a great find this hotel is! The garden is simply beautiful. Comfy bed, clean bathroom and very interesting decor in each room - I think I've found my favourite hotel in Nice.
Review 104:just did not fancy the decor of the rooms from last years stay. the rooms last year were some whatmore relaxing in their design .the contents and comfort was first class but in our room 120 and 480 for my relatives i thought the subjects and the painting of the room was very gaudy. would probably pick an upgrade on our next stay it is a beautiful hotel
Review 105:we liked everything.
Review 106:excellent location, walking distance to the station, beach, shops, harbour, old town. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, loved the decor and theme of the hotel; our room was very spacious, we would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Nice. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Review 107:The bathroom needed work and the bed was not comfortable. Food was mediocre. The room was small but may have been one of the smaller rooms.
Review 108:The location was very convenient and we loved the garden. It added a lot to the visit. The staff was very friendly. Good value for the money.
Review 109:No issues.
Review 110:Our third time to stay here for all of the above reasons. Try for a garden room rather than street-side. Garden an excellent feature for a city centre hotel - for both dining & relaxing. All attractions nearby but one step removed from the crowded areas.
Review 111:people smoking at nearby tables when dining,
Review 112:My creation room was lovely overlooking the garden. Lovely artwork in room and throughout the hotel. Meals served in the pretty garden area weather permitting. Helpful staff The lift made me smile (but wont spoil the surprise for other visitors) Facilities for massages and other treatments too.
Review 113:- fridge in room didn't really work
Review 114:Room - very private (trees outside window) and quiet - good size and had table and 2 chairs - good wifi and TV - staff very helpful getting me ice every night for drinks
Review 115:Room had one bed because we didn't write separately that we want to beds. In my opinion that is normal to get without notice when you book twin- bed room.
Review 116:That they gave us balcony with nice view. Hotel also has cosy garden with pool and coffee tables. Many foodcourts nearby and promenade was only 300 m away. Shopping street and train station were 1 km away.
Review 117:Maybe some of the trees need a trim to let more light around pool and seating area
Review 118:Rooms individually decorated . Breakfast area was nice and different .
Review 119:When I ckecked in my room was very very smelly without explanations. The girl from the reception came with me to the room and she said she will ask the cleaners regarding the smell but she just disappeared... When I asked for switch to another room the receptionist (a man) he seemed not very positive to offer me another one as he mentioned the booking was pretty full...I understand the booking might be full but there was not nessasory to tell customers about this. This would only made me think you were not trying to help. Finally, he offered me the last room available for my booking type. So I moved my stuffs to the new room took about 20min without any apology or sorry from the receptionist. Normally, most of the FOUR STAR hotels may offer a compensation or at least a sincere apology!!! I don't think the rents worth to receive this kind of services!!! I certainly felt disappointed very much!
Review 120:The design of the room and the garden restraunt are very beautiful.
Review 121:Furniture was a little on the old side and the general feel of the place was that it could use a lick of paint. Could have found something better for the price
Review 122:The staff were very helpful and always attentive to our needs We were allowed to change room to one with more light Hotel is a short walk from the main shopping and beach areas Room decor was nice
Review 123:Nothing it was great
Review 124:A beautiful, elegant hotel in a garden setting with a pool - perfect! Quirky, art oriented establishment with excellent service and a garden setting for an afternoon drink or breakfast in the morning.
Review 125:The 'Fitness centre' didnt have a treadmill and nothing really worthwhile or up to date to work out with. When i asked the staff why they didnt have a treadmill they suggested it was because most people ran along the promenade des anglais! I was disappointed and felt this should not have been included with hotels that had real gyms
Review 126:Parking available Good room (privilege)
Review 127:Breakfast costs14euros extra. Cheaper to get a croissant and coffee on the corner than pay for the express breakfast (6€) at the hotel. Excellent bakery on corner. The bathroom needed a bit of upkeep/renovation work. No free teas or coffees in lobby. Coffee costs €4 at hotel! Parrots and birds should have a bigger cage in the garden to enable them to fly more. Pool and lounge chairs are in the shade. There are mosquitos in the garden even during the day. The fitness area has outdated and only a few very basic machines. Computer in the lobby is very old and slow...it took me 30 minutes to print my boarding pass!
Review 128:Bed was very comfortable...I didn't want to get up! Location was a 10 minute walk from the Old Town. Room was clean. Garden is beautiful.
Review 129:Didn't like the background audio in the lift, which I noticed more on my second visit.
Review 130:The headline says it all really. We have stayed here before and it is just as good, if not better than our first visit. Our first visit we had a slightly noisy room overlooking the road, but second time round we had a peaceful garden view.
Review 131:The receptionists can be more friendly, I found them to be verydisinterested and not welcoming. The breakfast at 14 euros a head is very expensive for the quality of the breakfast that was offered. I have enjoyed better quality breakfasts at other five star hotels for cheaper price!
Review 132:Several things that were advertised didn't love up to expectations. We didn't have WIFI access in our room, only down the hall and in lobby. The computer in the lobby with a printer was so old, slow and difficult to use- it took us 30 minutes to print out our boarding passes. Staff was cordial but did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome. Fitness area was lacking and old, manual machines were outdated and not up 4 star hotel quality at all. The pool area did not get any sun, and the pool was not heated. Therefore, it was too cold to swim. There were mosquitos in the garden and I got several bites while lounging by the pool. There were no free teas or coffees. A coffee cost €4 and breakfast was €14 extra. Birds in garden could have been in a larger cage to enable them to fly more or better yet, cover top of garden so they could fly anywhere in garden.
Review 133:Bed was extraordinarily comfortable! Room cleaned daily and shampoos, towels and soaps changed each day. Shower had good water pressure. Room is quiet when windows are closed. Refrigerator and safe in room. Good boulangerie on the corner with excellent croissants and breads.
Review 134:Swimming pool. In a garden, not a typical location for a pool.
Review 135:Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable. Reception was very good and helpful. Room was very quiet.
Review 136:Lovely boutique hotel in excellent location. Short walk to beach, shops and fantastic array of restaurants. No problem walking around the area late night. Great staff. Breakfast was good and not too expensive. Hotel garden amazing - a work of art itself. Room a little dated but did not detract from the charm of the hotel. Garden room balcony provided a relaxing, quite and cool retreat for a short rest break late on a hot summer afternoon.
Review 137:The washroom was a bit small but if that is all I can find fault in.
Review 138:I loved my stay at this hotel. The room was a good size for one person. I liked the fresh flower ! I had an upper level room in the front of the hotel and I heard no noise front the street . The washroom was tiny but functional. The hotel was well situated and within walking distance of the beach and main shopping areas. I walked to the old town daily with no issues. I would like to mention how helpful and friendly the staff was to me. It made my stay particularly enjoyable. The garden was perfect for an evening drink. I would highly recommend this hotel. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay .
