Reviews for Résidence La Closerie Deauville
Review 1:House keeping was not good. We had to ask for adequate number of towels and shampoo refills. Junk box was not emptied. The hotel was much better previously.
Review 2:Location of the hotel and the spa was good. Mini kitchen cabinet was useful.
Review 3:Location excellent, lots of space, very good value, apartment could sleep 7 if required, facilities very adequate, had everything one could require, even 2 TVs.
Review 4:noisy tiled floors in bedrooms, extremely thin walls, no coffee in the room yet coffee maker and kettle provided! Shower not consistent temperature impossible to shower without making constant adjustments. We took an apartment, probably been better to take two seperate rooms.
Review 5:effecient checkin and checkout parking and swiftness of elevators
Review 6:The fully equipped room with fridge, micro-wave, small cooker etc. Hotel offered everything, spa facility, swimming pools etc. Short walk to beach and retaurants
Review 7:Hotel cannot be rates as 4 stars..it is not even a 2 stars...there are no facilities...breakfast for the price paid has no value for money...very limited items on buffet breakfast...no re filling is done on time...Breakfast for the price paid & for an officially rated 4 stars is POOR . How can a 4 stars hotel close at 9 PM ...after 9 PM there is no reception..no one in the hotel to talk to, inquire and no one to ask for anything... One bedroom apartment is with old furniture Euro 360 that I paid for one night with breakfast is a total rip off...absolutely no value for money...will never go back again ever..and will not recommend to anyone No wonder this hotel has such a low score on booking.com
Review 8:Only Location, nothing else
Review 9:They said we could arrange the early chack in and late check out with the extra costs of 30 euros. But, they refused in fact.
Review 10:Good for the family stay for vacance.
Review 11:One lift was broken the whole time we were there. there was no drinking water for the steam room/sauna.
Review 12:The space was excellent and the upkeep of the room by the cleaners was amazing. The kitchen and lving space was excellent.
Review 13:Way too high a price for what it was. We paid 217 € a night without breakfast. We had booked a double room but the room turned out to be a single room, tiny and with a bed of 140 cm. In the kitchenette there had been a fire, so we did not dare to use it (was wiring ok?). The so called SPA was a joke: men and women had the same dressing room, so you could not undress, not even in the shower. Steam room and sauna were not hot enough and a complicated system of code locks made it difficult to move between the different parts.
Review 14:The location
Review 15:During the night it was too humid for us as there were no air conditioning. The free wi-fi was working occasionally. The children could not go to the spa after 19:00.
Review 16:The hotel and the spa were really nice. The staff was also friendly and helpful.
Review 17:I was aware of the bad reviews (all true to be fair) but booked anyway for the indoor swimming pool / spa in case of bad weather. Luckily the weather was good - if it wasn't we wouldn't have used the indoor facilities anyway. We tried once and everything is just not good enough. Apart from the dreadful design and the old fixtures the Jacuzzi is over filled with chlorine ( to the point of wanting to leave because your eyes are burning) The swimming pool hasn't got a lounge area so you can't relax there The sauna/steaming room are not ready so you have to operate it yourself and wait for them to warm up The rooms are clean enough but the walls so thin you basically feel like you are sleeping in a hostel, the beds narrow and not luxurious Not a 4 stars by any standards. And not worth booking in case of bad weather. Go for a 2 star hotel (there are so many nice ones) and book external facilities in case of bad weather..
Review 18:Location - nice staff (For french standards)
Review 19:Hotel was not up to standard booking.com photos included photos of rooms not available through booking.com, thus misleading Garden was closed for repairs, and this was not disclosed to us to give us a chance to re-book elsewhere
Review 20:Good croissants
Review 21:Beds could have been a bit better, temptation to try and charge for everything ie. dogs / parking etc.
Review 22:Good facilitieds, close to the beach and animal friendly. Like the apartment style of hotel, far easier than a room.
Review 23:Pas prévenus avant notre arrivée des travaux de la piscine. Donc pas d'activité piscine et un bruit incroyable le matin ! Problème de réception TV. Le personnel ne savait pas quoi faire pour nous aider, donc pas de TV ! Rapport qualité-prix vraiment insuffisant. Buffet petit déjeuner à améliorer ( fruits ???)
Review 24:Thought this was a 4 star hotel I therefore was very disappointed on arrival to fing that it was possible to obtain a drink, not even a bottle of water. The fridge in the kitchenette was not working and in any case id not contain anything.
Review 25:Swimming pool opens at 8am and closes at 8:30pm (a bit too early, such a shame..), hamam, jacuzzi and sauna add up to a positive experience.all this included in the price. The breakfast however is not, but kitchen facilities in the room came in handy.
Review 26:Arrangements for early check in made before arrival were not adhered to, reception staff were rude/dismissive. The whole place is shabby and in need of redecoration and refurbishment. The cleaners do their best but the place looks grubby because furnishings and decor is just worn.
Review 27:Location is good. Bed was comfortable and bedlinen and towels were good quality. Wi Fi was fast.
Review 28:Doesn't deserve to have 4 stars! when you see the room we've got on the 4th floor: too tiny, old furniture, bad bathroom (you have to hold the shower the whole time), walls of the room must be made of paper because you can hear everything from the next room en the hall; breakfast room is not pleasant with 5 large tables for 10 people instead of smaller tables and no possibility to eat outside. Also, we had to eat at a table that was just too dirty to even explain. You can eat untill 10:30 but the lady was already clearing the tables at 9:45. She made a lot of noise doing so, so you can not even eat in peace. The elevators are dodgy.
Review 29:friendly personnel, but too few; free wifi is great but half of the time you're waiting to be connected... ; good location, a pool
Review 30:We did not like the fact that when my severe unanticipated illnessrequired me to return immediately to the us for treatment and preventedme from advising them two days before the arrival date, they would notrefund one Euro of my four day reservation's cost.
Review 31:I liked the idea of being in Deauville in a facility that booking.comrated highly. The weather there seemed to be what we wanted when It wasless desirable most other places in Europe at the time.
Review 32:Tired décor and furnishings. Room we had could be improved- toilet (separate from bathroom) was in poor condition.
Review 33:Location Staff If they added a proper lounge and bar it would be good Why don't they upgrade what must have been, and could be, a great hotel
Review 34:No hanging space Noisy Air conditioning Tiny bath, which I couldn't stand up in! Tiny uncomfortable bed No English TV channels at all Tiled floor in room was filthy
Review 35:Kitchen
Review 36:Small room, hardly any cloth hangers, small bathroom, hotel needs refreshing. Asked months in advance for 2nd floor room, was given 4th floor.
Review 37:Location
Review 38:Surprised by the comment that location is a distance from main shopping and restaurants without using the car. The location is in the centre of shopping and restaurants. Also hotel is close to the beach. Staff were very helpful. Deauville has numerous good restaurants and up market shopping. Beach is most welcome and safe swimming.
Review 39:Small room Terrible pillows tatty furniture, marked/scratched
Review 40:Good position, close to town, restaurants, casino, horse racing, shops, beach - all with walking distance. Private parking (if reserved in advance) Attractive reception area - unlike the room
Review 41:I couldn't find a dustpan and brush to sweep up the inevitable sand that we brought in following a day on the beach.
Review 42:Very comfortable, well fitted out apartment. Gorgeous toiletries in the bathrooms. Close to the beach, restaurants, shops etc.
Review 43:If you think you're going to a luxury hotel, you're wrong. It's not a hotel but a family experience. It doesn't make it clear in the information. We went for what we thought would be a luxury night only to find a dated room, chunks out of the tiles in the bathroom and somebody else's waste in the bin. Not a good start.
Review 44:location is a distance from main shopping and restaurants without using the car. Parking was expensive and no TV news or programme in English. For us we preferred Honfleur for convenience
Review 45:the comfort and privacy of the rooms, swimming pool
Review 46:La rècèptionniste
Review 47:As much as the staff tried to help the language barrier (do not speak english) was great obstacle
Review 48:Liked the staff attempt to be at service
Review 49:Clean, friendly, but nothing special to remember. Easy access.
Review 50:LOBBY TOO HUMID/STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL DUE TO POOL
Review 51:LOCATION, FRONT DESK STAFF
Review 52:breakfast wasnt that good and also the reception staff werent nice at all
Review 53:the area
Review 54:My room was too small and the bed also very tiny one
Review 55:I really liked the fact that there was no carpet...I am allergic
Review 56:A bit old, lacks luxury
Review 57:Cozy pool and jacuzzi, great location, our room had an exquisite view on the city's splendid houses
Review 58:Location Staff Facilities
Review 59:Very quiet location. Quiet rooms, Clean with kettle etc for tea and coffee.
Review 60:Strong chlorine smell at the foyer
Review 61:Location Room size Room recently renovated
Review 62:Totally overpriced, the appartment was scruffy and of poor quality.
Review 63:location was good
Review 64:Noisy
Review 65:Location, clean and good facilities
Review 66:Hard bed, no bar
Review 67:Good self catering facilities, excellent location, cute little pool
Review 68:Bed was a bit small
Review 69:Staff very helpful
Review 70:Ideally located in the centre and near to the seaside.
Review 71:No air-condition, rooms are old and dirty, too many insects and mosquitos!!!!
Review 72:poor english
Review 73:Lovely the self contained kitchen in the cupboard
Review 74:Thin walls, no sleep for me.
Review 75:Pool, sauna, decor
Review 76:No parking available Run down hotel, needs refurbishment Certainly not 4 stars; 2 stars max
Review 77:No air conditioning and it was exceptionally hot during our short stay.
Review 78:Excellent kitchenette facilities, very well equipped.
Review 79:The room was old, furniture old.
Review 80:Room/Apartment for 6 people only had one toilet and felt very cramped. We were just four and it was quite tight. Quite noisy on the main road.
Review 81:Good location and a decent indoor pool and spa. Friendly staff.
Review 82:Reception working hours. No bathrobes in the rooms.
Review 83:Water pool and spa are very good after a busy walking activities. My 2-year old boy enjoyed playing in water. A kitchenette is very handy. A complete set of tableware! Everyday cleaning was good. Location is good. Close to everything.
Review 84:basic two room apartment, bedroom fine, but lounge / living room tired, poorly equipped (eg; only one breakfast bowl for apartment for 4 people), tiny tv, sofa very uncomfortable, table and chairs all stained. No way should this be 4*, more like 2* and very over priced.
Review 85:Only french speaking channels on tv. Reception does not openbefore 8 am.
Review 86:Friendly staff, good location, clean and large rooms. Separated toiletfrom bathroom. Two times door and gangway cuts eventual noice from maincorridor and make room quiet. No noice from street.
Review 87:A shame the sauna was not in operation.
Review 88:Good facilities, ideal location for restaurants, therefore no driving required, suitably informal which suited our requirements.
Review 89:Whilst the public areas were lovely the rooms were down at heel. Tatty old looking furniture. Chipped paintwork. Brown velveteen cover on sofa which looked grim. Didn't want to sit on it. No comfortable chair to sit on. Hob needed a good clean to remove burned on stains. Crockery dirty - not surprised they only allow you one dishwasher tablet on arrival. Shower had no shower curtain - the floor ended up like a skating ring which is a health and safety hazard. Surprising really as they had put us in a room fitted out for disabled use. Specifically asked for a room with a view as husband claustrophobic - guess what the balcony was meters away from a high stone wall. Definitely not what you expect when you are paying over £200 per night and then a further 10 euros a night to park the car. Ouch
Review 90:The breakfast buffet was expensive at 15 euros. Avoid the spa flip flops: I slipped down the stairs in them .
Review 91:Nice room though the layout was a bit odd. Brilliant location, really close to the race track and about 10 minutes from the beach/casino. The kids loved the pool and the hot tub. Free on road parking both front and back of the hotel.
Review 92:We had booked a twin room but were given a double; this was rectified after a couple of hours. The apartment was fairly clean, but there was an unfortunate wiff emanating from the toilet's plumbing.
Review 93:We booked the room and car park on line. Both were available when we arrived. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was just a leisurely ten minutes walk from the beach.
Review 94:The size of the apartment could have been a bit bigger. The front faces a street that's rather busy, so it was not very quiet when we opened our windows.
Review 95:It was good to have the pool and sauna access.
Review 96:My rating is bad, because of Internet connectivity that was terrible. The first evening it only worked sometimes. The next day it worked at most half of the day (appartment 4). This it totally unacceptable, we NEED Internet.
Review 97:Great hotel, nice pool, nice spa, good location
Review 98:If we knew it was with kitchen we would be better prepared.
Review 99:It was close to the beach and casino. Very clean and staff very professional and efficient.
Review 100:The position so close to everything, the pool and having an apartment with a kitchen was great because we had a baby with us. A fridge to keep the champagne chilled was essential.
Review 101:The WiFi was next to useless, I managed to get on briefly once. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast if I had stayed longer I would have bought my own breakfast in. Probably better with more than one toilet in a two bedroom apartment which could accommodate 6 people.
Review 102:We had a two bedroom apartment which was spacious and well supplied with cooking facilities, fridge/freezer, kitchen utensils etc. spacious with balconies and views towards the sea.
Review 103:Total lack of in room service, the only beverage or snack available was a vending machine that was poorly stocked and the bottled water did not work. There were many small children being small children.
Review 104:The location was excellent, and good for walking. The room was comfortable, certainly not luxury For a family with smaller children it would be good
Review 105:No one to receive us when we arrived at 8.30pm; hotel closed up. Kitchenette is in fact a cupboard albeit well equipped. Room not large enough to have "easy" chairs. Overpriced
Review 106:Lack of wall-mounting for shower in the bath. Passages have linoleum rather than carpeting which makes them a bit noisy.
Review 107:Short walk to main shopping street and casino. Off-street parking.General decor of the hotel very tasteful.
Review 108:T.V. did not have any English speaking channels.
Review 109:Good location in Deauville - easy to walk to shops, beach, restaurantsand cinemas for Film Festival. Together with having kitchenette in room- well equipped and with nice garden/pool to relax.
Review 110:I would expect much more for a French 4 stars résidence though (the design of the pool and spa is poor, the spa menu is limited, the appartments are rather small for 4 persons, and the 1st floor is noisy in the morning (maybe because of the breakfast).
Review 111:The résidence is very nice and clean, but more for families than young people travelling together. Not far from deauvillle busy center or beach. the price is not expensive and I would recommend it as we had a nice stay.
Review 112:Unfortunately the room was quite dirty, we booked for two nights but only stayed for one. Small swimming pool that must have had more chlorine in it than water (We did not attempt going in as we felt stifled by other odours present also)Buffet breakfast dissapointing although I did not bother to check the cost, so it may be value for money but its an apartmenthotel so make your own best.
Review 113:In a good location that is a short walk to the beach. Car parking good although our car did not fit the garage but thats our fault for having too big a car. Hotel look,s good from outside.
Review 114:We stayed in an apartment room for max. 4 persons. The room is spacious and clean. It is very comfortable, though not luxurious. This hotel would be suitable for families with small children.
Review 115:Reception is not opened after 8pm No help for luggages and elevators slow as they are shared with the cleaning staff.
Review 116:Great location close to the beach and the city center Appartments perfect for families
Review 117:- very expensive for the quality and size... - an 'apartment' was basically a normal size room split into two small rooms...1 tiny bedroom and a living area with sofa bed which opens and prevents anyone else from using the room... - only one toilet for a family of 4 yet 2 bath/shower rooms... - furniture from 2nd hand shop and not a compliment... - very noisy even on the side off the main road...inside and outside.... - a place to sleep but not to spend too much time...
Review 118:- 10 minute walk to city centre and 15 minutes to the beach... - small kitchen is useful... -
Review 119:Great location, well placed for shops, beach ( if you dont mind a 10 min walk) Also only a short walk into Trouville. Staff friendly and courteous. Would return again .
Review 120:Too high price compare to the standard. For us the standard was not 4stars, but rather 3 stars. The bed was hard and the apartment was verynaked and did not look very friendly.
Review 121:We enjoyed to live nearby the city centre and the personell where greatand serviceminded.
Review 122:Our stay at La Closerie was lovely but we didn't really have enough time there, we were only there for one night. We really would have liked to stay for longer.
Review 123:The apartment wasn't particularly clean- I'm not the most obsessive person by any stretch of the imagination but my 14 year old son wasn't happy as his quilt cover for the bedsettee he was sleeping on was full of stains. Unfortunately as reception closed at 8 and we had arrived just before we didn't have the chance to raise it with anyone so they didn't have the opportunity to put it right. I'm sure that they would have done.
Review 124:This is a great location and we had a lovely view across the racecourse.reception staff were very nice and spoke English. We also had a small kitchenette area which was handy and there is a nice pool. There is secure parking which was essential for us as we had a trailer .The apartment is in walking distance of lots of lovely bars and restaurants and the harbour.
