Reviews for Hotel des Remparts

Review 1:Chilly in the corridors

Review 2:Nice character hotel in the centre of Beaune. Easy parking, good size room with clean bathroom. Breakfast is extra but is good with eggs meat & cheese. Close to shops and restaurants.

Review 3:This hotel is real "france profonde" the sort of old fashioned inn that you rarely find. It is a few hundred yards from the Hospices de Beaune and the Place Carnot. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Breakfast as generous - hard boiled eggs, ham and yogurt on top of the usual croissants, bread and biscuits. They treated the dog like a king ! Simple, old fashioned and about as far from a boutique hotel as you can get - but the real thing.

Review 4:The hotel staff were so lovely. The room was amazing, huge, modern, clean and built into the ramparts so even more special. It's a great location. Really enjoyed our stay.

Review 5:The breakfast was nice but very basic and therefore quite expensive. If staying at the back, off the courtyard ( lovely in summer ) the old narrow spiral stone staircase could be awkward to negotiate with luggage and early leavers could be quite noisy on departure

Review 6:Excellent position in a quiet street and yet only minutes walking distance from dozens of very good restaurants. Very friendly ,helpful staff, and even the owners were often on hand to ensure satisfaction.

Review 7:Great location if travelling train. Very quaint. Staff was very hospitable. We rented bikes to tour the vineyards and the hotel had a wonderful, secured storage area.

Review 8:A lovely hotel. Such a nice atmosphere and the courtyard is a wonderful place to absorb the ambiance and relax. The room was surprisingly spacious and very comfortable and the staff was so helpful and friendly. We loved our visit there.

Review 9:Quirky old world hotel built into old city walls as name suggests. Full of winding corridors and staircases, Didn't see an escalator. Fab receptionist who carried our bags - a la Exotic Mariglod Hotel. Lovely town too

Review 10:Ground floor room, did not have windows - felt claustrophobic, even thought quite spacious,

Review 11:Close to the centre of Beaune. 5 minutes walk. Friendly flexible staff - I had booked for two days but i had to leave after a day. They charged me only for one day. The central courtyard where they serve breakfast is fantastic

Review 12:We stayed for 1 night at the Hotel Des Remparts. We arrived late having been very delayed by the Eurotunnel migrant problems, but Lydie was very helpful and accommodating. The staff overall the next day were very friendly. The HdR is in a great location right in the centre of Beaune. Street parking was no problem (they provide a map). Beaune is a nice city well worth a day trip to walk around. Our room itself was quite spacious and quaint. The hotel has a charming courtyard and front aspect full of character. The HdR was great value for money

Review 13:staff were absolutely delightful; warm, welcoming, helpful and attentive. The outdoor day room is stunning and very romantic. The location is amazing - I'd definitely stay there again.

Review 14:The pillow and bed covers left a lot to be desired. The bed cover was patched with stains ! Our room was cleanish but needs updating. The curtains were thin and ill fitting

Review 15:Location was brilliant. Staff friendly

Review 16:Our room was very noisy. We faced the road and all the noise came through keeping us awake half the night. It was a bit of a hike to our room, having to go outside and through courtyard and upstairs. My bed definitely needed a new matress and it was caved in, in the centre.

Review 17:The location of the hotel was great. Staff was excellent and pleasant

Review 18:matress had long since passed it's days, wi-fi stunk, towels were paper thin, breakfast (in France mind you) was right out of a supermarket - everything about this operation spoke of cheapness.

Review 19:Staff was great - partly because they had to work so hard making up for the hotel's inadequacies.

Review 20:The pillows were a bit small. A very minor complaint

Review 21:The Staff was very attentive and helpful. The room was neat and clean. The facilities are charming and the location is very central to the rest of the town. Breakfast was well worth the price. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 22:The hotel was so central but still quiet. It is run by the owners and they know everyone and everything about the area. They welcomed us and helped in every possible way.

Review 23:At breakfast each morning we were given one yogurt and one apple sauce. The waitress seemed shocked when I asked for another container of each so other days we simply shared what they put on the table!

Review 24:The room was large with sitting area and old fashioned look to it. The bathroom was huge, modern and well lit with large bathtub. Location very convenient to rail station on quiet street but handy to all the sights.

Review 25:Welcoming staff, and helpful in sorting adjoining rooms out for the boys. It was a bank holiday and the receptionist was enlightening telling us where to go. The whole Beaune experience was wonderful.

Review 26:Nothing to dislike if you a traditional style French hotel

Review 27:Lovely old building very much part of "old" Beaune. Facilities have been modernised without spoiling it's character.

Review 28:The very small bathroom. The breakfast minimum.

Review 29:Located in the center. Big room but very very small bathroom. Breakfast : only jam , butter , croissant ,juice ,baguette, cooffee.

Review 30:nothing

Review 31:Evrything

Review 32:Nothing.

Review 33:Central city location.

Review 34:Lovely room, close to centre of Beaune; Cycle friendly.

Review 35:location, staff very helpful

Review 36:nothing - it was all good

Review 37:brilliant location - quiet street but so close to everything in central Beaune

Review 38:Very friendly hotel, great location in the city center!

Review 39:Nothing, it's not luxury but a perfect one night stopover.

Review 40:location is great inside city walls, quaint , very French hotel. Good value for Beaune.

Review 41:Have stayed here before good location rustic very old building- quirky

Review 42:wonderful welcome and quaint courtyard plus ease of walk to restaurants.

Review 43:Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff a real pleasure to stay there.

Review 44:Bed was a wee bit small.

Review 45:Helpful front desk even rang up to let us know when to parking space outside was free to avoid using car park in town.

Review 46:Charming staff

Review 47:Bedroom and bathroom dated and very uncomfortable bed.

Review 48:Wonderful location and pretty courtyard. Very friendly reception.

Review 49:Breakfast was dismal

Review 50:This is a very average hotel with not too much to talk about.

Review 51:Friendly staff including the owner.

Review 52:Hotel has character and staff friendly.

Review 53:Breakfast staff were a bit grim

Review 54:The location; The room (we were upgraded) The style of the rooms and their access Night staff were excellent

Review 55:Poor pillow

Review 56:Kindness of staff Breakfast at any Time

Review 57:Location, friendly, helpful staff, old world charm.

Review 58:Friendly staff.Confortable room.

Review 59:Slightly dated bathroom

Review 60:Closeness to the centre of Beaune. Good car parking.

Review 61:As mentioned above: it is not a fancy place. They could do a bit more, like: replacing white plastic furniture in the outdoor area, upgrade a bit on the bathroom goodies (shower gel etc), ... But theres nothing we really would complain about.

Review 62:The staff is really really friendly, professional, helpfull and very kind. The hotel is very well located, only a few minutes to walk "downtown". It is not a fancy place, but good, down to earth, very friendly. We liked it a lot.

Review 63:Booking.com showed my price at 108 but I was charged 118. Parking was $8 per day and that was a good price.

Review 64:There were 2 sinks in the bathroom, a shower and a tub big enough to give swimming lessons. Everything about the room was nice so maybe I was upgraded without asking me.

Review 65:The pillows will need to be upgraded.

Review 66:The friendliness of staff and host. They did everything we asked for. They have really looked after us very well.

Review 67:It is a little shabby in places, loose floor tiles on the room floor & tatty grout & silicon in the bathroom.

Review 68:Charming, quirky, traditionally French hotel in an excellent location with attentive, friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Review 69:Hotel with no elevator. Unable room wireless internet, a weak signal. We asked for an extra blanket because it was pretty cold, but we were told that because it's cool No more blankets????

Review 70:Central location, friendly staff, cleanliness.

Review 71:Disappointed with storage/wardrobe space. There is no facility in the room to hang up any clothing which means it stays crumpled in the suitcase. The numerous notices placed in room and around hotel circulation spaces telling guests in an abrupt way to be quiet, don't bring your own wine into the hotel, don't talk loudly on your mobile etc. however, this may be a language issue. Ultimately, we found the hotel over prized.

Review 72:We liked the ambiance of the hotel, the room size and very comfortable bed. Room was clean and bath room was small but adequate. Good size television.

Review 73:Very quaint hotel right in the centre of Beaune. Rooms very comfortable and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Quiet location despite being in the centre of Beaune.

Review 74:There is not a lot of free parking, but paid parking nearby. We were lucky.

Review 75:Hotel was full of character and we had a nice big room. Staff were very helpful and showed us where the free car parking was.

Review 76:Ground floor room with its own door to the street. It was extremely hot and it felt a bit unsafe to leave window open at night or to open door for more than a couple of minutes.

Review 77:Very friendly and helpful staff. Attractive old building with courtyard where tables were set out for drinks/or breakfast. Very good location in old town. Easy access to historic centre.

Review 78:Not easily accessible for someone who couldn't climb a fair number of narrow stairs.

Review 79:Close proximity to the city of Baune, yet quiet and private. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the courtyard!

Review 80:Room was in a three story building with a very steep narrow staircase, too narrow to carry up a suitcase. We had to unpack the things we needed for an overnight stay in the back of our car parked in the street

Review 81:Lots of character. Close into village centre

Review 82:There was nothing that we didn't like.

Review 83:All aspects of hotel were outstanding. Location was close to all of Beaune. Hotel staff was over the top in services and advice. The owners are charming and welcoming. Very good experience and we would go back there. Very accommodating .

Review 84:The pillows were lumpy and we seemed to fight them all night long, but it's a minor issue compared to the overall comfort of the hotel.

Review 85:The hotel was luxurious and yet reasonably priced. It was very clean, quiet, and staff was very friendly & welcoming. Location was easy to find.

Review 86:Not totally sure about value for money. While clean, bathroom forinstance small, basic and ready for redo I would say. €10 for meagerbreakfast definitely too much.

Review 87:Hotel has nice character. Very friendly staff. Central location.

Review 88:Charming, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely courtyard room (no 1) and very nice feel to hotel. Central location. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 89:The hotel was very welllaced to explore the city of Beaune. Thecourtyard is a lovely feature and it was a real pleasure to be ableto have drinks there in the evening and then breakfast thefollowing morningThe room was good and catered for all our needs

Review 90:Some of the facilities have more old world charm than modernconvenience. It is a choice, but our room had only a bath, not a shower.Beware the stairs for anyone with mobility problems - get a groundfloorroom. Also breakfast was very nice, but 10€ is a bit steep.

Review 91:Hotel des Remparts is in an excellent location for seeing the town ofBeaune, and the staff make it a relaxing stay. The hotel has real charm, and the courtyard area is lovely to sit for a read, a drink orbreakfast. Definitely not a standard hotel - something very different

Review 92:The sounds of others in the room above us (we were in room 5) were quite loud and made it hard to get to sleep. The breakfast was nice but very basic even by our easy-going standards (especially for 10 euro each). I'd walk down the end of the street (turn right if facing across the street from the hotel) and then left about 20m - there was a nice little bakery there that would do perfectly.

Review 93:The staff were very friendly and helpful; we didn't arrive until very late (10:30pm) and when we phoned ahead they were extremely helpful and understanding. The location is fantastic; we were able to walk everywhere (and even hired two bikes from the hotel to do further exploring).

Review 94:Hospitality, extremely friendly & effient staff & owners, light airy rooms, able to open windows, fresh air, court yard, quiet, relaxed atmosphere & extemely welcoming.

Review 95:What we did not like! Poor room. Stairs very steep, narrow . What to do in case of fire! Dangerous! Poor breakfast, only jam. No cheese or egg. In the middle of her spiders web. we mean the manager was always watching what you are doing. We arenot pleased at all! Hans and Johanna Droog-Ohm

Review 96:nothing.

Review 97:Room was very tired and desperately needs modernising. Beds may be older than the hotel. We had a room on the top floor and there could be a problem if there was a fire in the hotel, only one safe way down, the only other way jump from the window.

Review 98:Hotel staff were excellent, and it was in a good location. The room was clean. Pleasant dining area but breakfast could have been better.

Review 99:Breakfast could be a bit better at €10.

Review 100:Good customer service. Parking available at €8. Good location in town of Beaune. Good alternative to sterility of such places as IBIS chain.

Review 101:Bathroom need a hook for shower head

Review 102:Very quiet room. Beautiful decoration. Very helpful staff.

Review 103:The room was very confortable with a nice garden in front of it.

Review 104:This was our second stay with this hotel....love their location and staff/facility. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 105:The very charming staff and the quiet atmoshere of a beautiful building

Review 106:Very well located - a quiet street but close to the centre of Beaune. Helpful, friendly staff.

Review 107:No tea making facilities in the room.

Review 108:Helpful staff who spoke very good English

Review 109:Shower was weird. 1/2 shower door and head at 4' high.

Review 110:Very helpful staff Great location

Review 111:Tiny shower.

Review 112:Good location. Friendly staff. Nice room.

Review 113:Wonderful friendly staff and great location.

Review 114:The hotel was charming and extraordinarily clean. I can't say enoughnice things about the lovely staff. All in all a great stay!

Review 115:Thought the location was 'on the other side of town'.

Review 116:The helpfulness of the staff.

Review 117:Very old fashioned decor, curtaings, bedding etc

Review 118:Walking distance of The Hospice

Review 119:Poor wifi connection

Review 120:Great location. Outdoor area lovely.
