Reviews for Hostellerie Le Cèdre

Review 1:My only slight moan is that the bar snacks could be improved as we were only offered some puff pastry pieces on this occasion which were not very nice and not fitting for fine wine or up to the high standard of everything else but a minor detail.

Review 2:Everything is good about this hotel. The bar is extremely cosy in the winter with a log fire & lit by candles. Breakfast is always good with an amazing selection of food on offer.

Review 3:This is by no means a 5 star establishment as advertised. The Prestige room at 260€ was a normal room with no frills, a soft bed. Dog fee was twice that of a Paris 5 star hotel without any bowl, blanket etc. Room service was very very disappointing. Would have been rated as terrible in a 4 star, let alone in a would-be 5 star hotel... Bottom line, twice as expensive as it should be. This is a 3 star priced as a parisian 4 star and claiming to a 5 star. Pay TV was all in French...

Review 4:Underground garage. Reasonable access to motorway. Reasonably quiet although on a main thoroughfare (4 lane ring road). Friendly enough staff.

Review 5:It is not a really 5 star hotel in my opinion, as the facilities do not match this level.

Review 6:Great location to explore the region. Lovely charming hotel. Underground parking.

Review 7:Beautiful facility, perfect location within walking distance of town center, but felt a bit more secluded. Would highly recommend for couples looking to find a quiet retreat yet be close to everything in Beaune.

Review 8:we ate dinner in the restaurant.which was profoundly disappointing. My wife did not wish to have a starter, She had to waite a full 11/2 hours for her main course. All the food was poorly presented and not pleasant. The only really poor meal in 3 weeks touring France & Italy.

Review 9:Gorgeous property with friendly, helpful staff. Perfectly located within walking distance of everything, but away from the fray. Exceptional breakfast.

Review 10:A rather soulless feel to the whole place and staff did not exude any warmth. Probably OK for a business visit but not so great for a holiday.

Review 11:A very attractive modern building with an excellent room. Good parking.

Review 12:The shower was extremely small.

Review 13:Hotel staff were outstanding! Very helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, day trip options. We decided to check out of the hotel one day early to move on to our next city on our trip and they were so helpful in accommodating us.

Review 14:Parking a little restricted. Underground parking is very tight for larger vehicles. Dinner was not available as it was fully booked and we should have booked when we made the reservation. Staff recommended 'Le Benaton' which was awful !

Review 15:Friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms.

Review 16:For a 5star hotel the bathrooms in the bedrooms are a little dated.

Review 17:Great location, clean and comfortable room, superb staff, and good value for money.

Review 18:Too many large dogs belonging to other guests. Poor departure, left to carry all our luggage to the underground car park.

Review 19:Location,easy parking, pleasant quiet room. Good welcome on arrival and our car parked in the garage for us.

Review 20:Not bad really but room with dark furnishings needs more than very Eco lighting to stop it being gloomy. Bed needs a mattress topper. Too firm for me. Hotel staff were efficient but lacked a genuine welcome.

Review 21:Lovely breakfast in beautiful courtyard. Excellent dinner.

Review 22:What's not to like? It's all fabulous.

Review 23:Stunning place to while away time, wander the streets of Beaune, and enjoy excellent cuisine. Very relaxing. No task or request is too large.

Review 24:Didn't like having to leave, such a disguised hotel!

Review 25:Top quality of everything with a restaurant so good and so well serviced didn't look for an alternative. A loved hotel with top staff. Even the valet parking in the secure cellar impressed.

Review 26:The restaurant "Le Clos du Cèdre" was a real disappointment! Except for the Sommeliers, the service was appalling, probably mainly due to "problems" in the kitchen (we could hear them shouting several times). We got our starter 1h15min after we sat down (even the amuse was served after 1h). The main course took another hour! The dishes are pretentiously presented with undesired combinations (except for the frog legs). Overall: certainly not worth a Michelin star.

Review 27:The rooms are very comfortable, the bar is very pleasant and staff is very kind.

Review 28:restaurant had good food, but service was extremely poor, would not eat there again as meal was more expensive than the hotel stay and not worth the cost as service was below that which we would expect form a Michelin star restaurant.

Review 29:location, easy to walk to the town, good parking, lovely gardens.

Review 30:Lovely comfortable hotel in a good location. Excellent restaurant and the staff were friendly, helpful and very professional. They are also very dog friendly. This is our 4th stay en route to Spain and we keep coming back - which says it all!

Review 31:The Restraurant which was a one star Michelin was poor-food was straight from the freezer to the table via the grill. When the food was left uneaten the staff acknowledged the issue and took the food back to the kitchen returning with the comment that it was cooked the way chef thought it should

Review 32:Good position

Review 33:There was nothing we didn't like. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hostellerie Le Cedre!!! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality....

Review 34:The personal attention. It felt like we were welcomed into the home of a very gracious host and hostess instead of a big hotel.

Review 35:We stayed 2 nights at a time of hot weather (28' c to 30' c byday) and had no air-conditioning at night in our room. Consequentlycould not sleep properly either night. Complained; told ratherdismissively that it is turned off between 11.00pm and 7.00am!! This 5Star hotel charged €236 per night, excluding breakfast, so I considerthis unacceptable and frankly, mean, to say the least. When checking outI raised the matter and was immediately credited one breakfast, as ifthis was the standard way to deal with this complaint. We visit Beaunetwice each year and will not stay at this hotel again if theseconditions persist. Otherwise the hotel is excellent.

Review 36:Beautiful ammenities, grounds perfect, staff fabulous, breakfast lovely. Relaxed and within reasonable distance to town centre. And the restaurant fantastic!! Have the cheese - amazing offer!!

Review 37:Nothing.

Review 38:Excellent hotel in perfect location in Beaune. Fantastic staff. We arrived at midnight and of course we were served a beautiful room service dinner. We will come back. Wort every penny!

Review 39:Nothing

Review 40:Hotel and room decor are of its finest, where one can feel very cozy and relaxed. The location is a mere steps from the city center. Employees were all very helpful with excellent service mind.

Review 41:Wifi was out one morning but they were aware and got it fixed. However the TV did not work on our second (last day) - again at the price one expects more.

Review 42:Being met at the car by someone who helped us with our luggage, beautifully relaxing garden and lounge, comfortable bedroom with a window that opened to allow fresh air into the room, good breakfast with plenty of choice, very helpful staff who made us feel at home, restaurant served tiny portions of very high class food although somewhat disappointed their adaptations for my dairy allergy were to leave off sauces rather than find something else - for that money I expect a chef who can think on his feet.

Review 43:We travelled back by car from St Tropez to London and found this hotel in beautiful Beaune. We'd never heard of or been before and we will absolutely be visiting it again. Great they accepted our little dog Alfie too. The food and service was unbelievable

Review 44:Great ambiance as soon as you enter reception and lounge areas.......imaginative use of lighting to create very relaxing atmosphere. Short stroll to all amenities of Beaune.

Review 45:Nothing. We had a wonderful stay.

Review 46:There wasn't anything I didn't like. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. The hotel had a great interior design- it was so welcoming and cozy with lots of candlelight and a warm fire in the fireplace. The garden was well kept and secluded with tables and chairs scattered throughout. Breakfast was delicious with many options for eggs, fresh bread, ham, salami, cheeses, fruit, cereal, fresh squeezed juices, and pastries. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. The location was easy to find by car and very close- 10 mins- to walk into the lovely town.

Review 47:The Dinner was not quite as good as I hoped-did not have the magic that I hoped for. Atmosphere was not quite there. However we had a very expensive meal & did not complain. We always seek that extra bit!

Review 48:We love Beaune, it has parking & staff are excellent.

Review 49:Nothing really, they just need to refit the upstairs corridors to be in keeping with the rest of the hotel which is quite stylish but a minor detail.

Review 50:Such a cosy atmosphere in the evenings with candles in reception & a roaring log fire in the lovely bar. Very relaxing & comfortable. Service excellent with nice touches; cake served with tea and savoury nibbles with wine.

Review 51:-Mixed information from different concierge members about wineries, but given offseason this was understandable

Review 52:+Made an effort to keep restaurant reservation open for us until very last minute +Dialed several wineries on our behalf trying to set up tastings +Fireplace in lobby bar area was just perfect for the season +Literally parked next to the entrance to the hotel for free though I imagine this is unusual

Review 53:We were showed the car park and the member of staff just stood there, then walked off without offering to help with the bags. The shower was cold at 0800 in the morning! A 5 star Hotel?

Review 54:The location, the bar and large log fire, the Mitchelin restaurant,

Review 55:The hotel faces the ring road around Beaune which can be a bit noisy so make sure you get a room on the back side of the hotel

Review 56:Decor and layout of the hotel is excellent. Staff were always helpful. The open fire in the cosy lounge proved a real focal point for our group. The food in the restaurant was first class and the best of the Michelin star restaurants we ate at over 3 days.

Review 57:The hotel was lovely, and Beaune and the surrounding countryside was spectacular. It was the finale of our 8 weeks in France, and it couldn't have been more pleasant.

Review 58:Shutters in bedroom(231) let in light in the morning.

Review 59:Excellent restaurant and breakfast.Friendly & helpful staff (with one exception!) A comfortable and efficient hotel.

Review 60:Only 3 tables booked in the restaurant, 1 single and 2 twins including us. Makes it very uncomfotable though the degustation menu was excellent. Professional service, though younger staff needs more training.

Review 61:Amazing large room, superb bathroom with separate WC, very attentive staff and a great restaurant. Parking access with lift direct from our floor. Very quiet.

Review 62:20 euros each for breakfast is not good value. Also charging 16 euros for parking overnight in the underground carpark when you are staying there is a rip off.

Review 63:The rooms were very well finished with good facilities. Well located for access to the town, a 5 min stroll.

Review 64:Both the toilet and shower were awkward to use and tiny. We were woken by a staff member and other patrons coming into our room and turning on the light after we had gone to sleep. It seems they had the wrong room. I opened the door and saw them walking away and the staff member turned and signaled an apology as they scurried off. It deserved a more formal apology I think. Perhaps a note or a bottle of wine or flowers the next day as at the time my wife and I were terrified.

Review 65:Professional, friendly staff and a welcoming demeanor. The toilet was separate from the bathroom.

Review 66:Absolutely nothing to dislike

Review 67:Welcoming staff who make every effort to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Stylish small luxury hotel ideally situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Beaune. It was a joy to relax with a drink in the delightful terrace and garden.

Review 68:Can't think of anything - a perfect stay!

Review 69:We stayed in a family suite with two beds on the main floor and a large bed in a loft. Room was very comfortable. Staff was great and made great restaurant suggestions. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 70:The shower was on the tiny size. Compared to the overall room and bathroom size it most certainly could accommodate a larger shower.

Review 71:Just a perfect, calm, enchanting hotel. Le jardin is just perfect. Le restaurant was an exquisite culinary "journey". We were upgraded at check in which was quite nice too.

Review 72:Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful, from the room we were in to the bar and gardens. We dined in the restaurant and were blown away, it was a magical part of our honeymoon staying in Beaune at this hotel. Hotel also helped us out with a great winery tour. Would definitely recommend to others.

Review 73:The main draw to us is the restaurant but it did not seem to be as good this time and without that, there are many hotels in Beaune to choose from.

Review 74:Convenient location. Well equipped. Parking.

Review 75:The price, 225€ for a double with breakfast, a bit steep even for high season, but I coughed up willingly enough!

Review 76:Everything was as you would expect from a hotel of that class, location superb

Review 77:Noise of garbage collection at around 6am outside our bedroom window. Classically decorated bedroom was a bit dark and gloomy. Restaurant was already fully booked before our arrival. Would have been a gesture to suggest a restaurant booking in advance when the hotel confirmed our room booking.

Review 78:Service level and friendliness of all the staff was excellent. The attention to detail in decoration in main areas is great. Lovely cosy lounge area.

Review 79:Room where the bathroom had no ventilation, which made it smell bad in the room most of the time. We had a room of a "higher" category, which even so was nothing! " Serious and "grey" staff with no "charm" what so ever. Note also that the garage cost money and the hotel apparently do not inform you about this - they just offered the parking without mentioning that it cost money. I am in the travel business and this hotel is BAD BAD value for money!! Keep away!!

Review 80:Getting a simple coffee and croissant in the morning was too complicated. Full breakfast was too pricy and too much food at 27E /person. No casual lunch option at the hotel.

Review 81:Warm, charming and professional staff. Service was great. Intimate small scale facility with cozy bar and reading room. The enclosed gardens are cool shady and private. The standard room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. Dinner at the 1 star Michelin restaurant was excellent. Easy to walk to old village sights and restaurants.Quiet AC. Quality bathroom.

Review 82:We had to log into the wifi constantly on our phones; there was no hot water, and there was no adjustment on the bill, the rooms were quite warm -- not clear the A/C works

Review 83:staff was very nice, facilities were very clean

Review 84:A little smaller than expected but a great room

Review 85:The room was comfortable, quiet and charming. Wonderful hotel and the perfect destination after a long journey from overseas. We loved walking around the town and wish we had had time to dine in the restaurant it looked amazing.

Review 86:Cold water in room slowed down then stopped! Not good at all! Phone rang twice in the night and woke us up...possibly alarm set but not by us...should have been checked by maids. Typical French, when I complained not even a sorry let alone offering some type of compensation...it was an expensive stay for what we got!!! Wouldn't stay again. Not a patch on a Sofitel.

Review 87:Food and restaurant ambience.

Review 88:Hotel room (superior) was a good size with large comfy bed and nice modern bathroom and good aircon. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Hotel location was excellent, a few minutes walk to the town. Parking was good, and it was easy to find. We didn't have breakfast, mostly due to eating too much good food the night before :)

Review 89:On the expensive side

Review 90:Beautiful property with a lovely sitting room with leather chairs and a roaring fireplace

Review 91:Staff was so helpful and nice, and the hotel was clean and peaceful.

Review 92:Great hotel and restaurant in a very attractive town. Excellent place to stop on a journey or for a stay in the region

Review 93:the hotel is just so beautiful with its outdoor gardens and comfy lounge area . Situated within a short walking distance to the center of town.

Review 94:This is a lovely hotel, however probably a little too pricy for what you get.

Review 95:Restaurant not up to expectation and Michelin stars, rather over priced for the experience.

Review 96:Reception and bar area lovely, breakfast superb.

Review 97:Excellent service

Review 98:Not inside the walls unfortunately.

Review 99:Location.

Review 100:Location, décor & service

Review 101:Excellent hotel and staff.

Review 102:No coffee/tea making facilities in the bedroom. At the price we paid we were surprised and disappointed.

Review 103:Resteraunt and staff

Review 104:Atmosphere

Review 105:Very basic simple rooms for 5 stars

Review 106:Nice lobby, clean

Review 107:Very nice bed and my wife loves the pillows plus excellent service.

Review 108:Everything - absolutely loved it!

Review 109:Bed too soft; rubbery pillows; pet charge @ 40 euros per nighttoo expensive

Review 110:Lovely hotel; pretty garden; excellent restaurant; big rooms

Review 111:Very disappointed with food in restaurant very over priced and both got food poisoning Would not recommend

Review 112:Room upgrade

Review 113:Restaurant was closed

Review 114:Hotel was warm and cosy. The lounge with open fire was classic. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 115:Everything - the room, the view, the bar, the foyer area and a great breakfast - even the garden was lovely in the winter

Review 117:Everything was upto scratch.Helpful and friendly staff in a good location near the centre with parking

Review 120:Paying 16 euros for parking
