Reviews for All Suites Appart Hôtel Dunkerque

Review 1:The room wasn't so clean (humidity) The view wasn't the same to booking photo We didn't take breakfast. We only took a coffe from the breakfast room in one of three days and finally we must payed 1euro.....ok!

Review 2:The hotel was near to my job and to motorways.

Review 3:Room had not been serviced, but was dealt with reasonably promptly. Could not work extractor hood, so set off smoke alarm when cooking. Poor room maintenance, loo flush button jammed, wardrobe rail not fixed. Shower spray leaked, pillow too thin

Review 4:The view from the room, location, underground parking

Review 5:The size of the rooms and the interconnecting rooms are great for families. We arrived on a rainy evening and didn't fancy going out so the pizza bus is great.

Review 6:Both times we have stayed here, we have had to unplug the fridge as they are very noisy. This is no big deal but seems odd.

Review 7:Needed a stay over before the ferry after a long drive. Really helpful staff, no fuss, lovely bathroom with great, clean room. Exactly what I wanted for about 60 euros. Free parking (or 5 euros for protected underground); right on the docks. Second time and not the last.

Review 8:No kettle and the shower is great if you're 4 feet tall!!! Works great though, good water pressure and stayed warm!!

Review 9:Great view of the basin, room was clean and mostly well equipped.

Review 10:We had booked a lovely large room at the back of the building , on the third floor. Unfortunately, in the dock opposite, is a moored ferry that doesn't go anywhere and for some reason, has it's generators running permanently - the noise throughout the night meant we had very little sleep and had to move rooms. The beds are very hard and we could've done with more pillows.

Review 11:The staff and facilities are excellent and couldn't be more helpful. Location wise, very good for walking into town.

Review 12:Worn interior; needs updating No curtains; only sheers on large window with a bright, lovely view of the port

Review 13:Great location and spacious rooms Inexpensive

Review 14:Could do with a tiny bit of updating , but we are a bit OCD !

Review 15:Location and parking excellent . Easy walk to centre and lovely stroll round old dock complete with tall ship .And also fairly easy off A16

Review 16:Could do with being spruced up a bit.

Review 17:Handy if you are travelling through to Calais and all Calais hotels are full. Only 50km from the ferry port. Kitchenette very useful. Also Channel 4, Film 4, More 4 on the TV. Secure underground car park.

Review 18:Dunquirk is a bit run down due to the ferries having, mostly, left. Few cafes and bars a shame for the town but the port is well located for our onward motorway journey.

Review 19:We booked a room with a sea view but this had led to the previous occupiers smoking in the room (with the window open) very pungent smell when we arrived. Also we had been given a shower room equipped for a disabled person the shower was too low and I am only 5ft but even I had to stoop to use. My husband had to sit to use. Hotel too fully booked to change so offered slight reduction on cost however only against 1 night's accommodation, as change of room offered for 2nd night but only after check out 2pm - 3pm which meant us returning to hotel mid afternoon to move luggage. We chose not to move due to attending a festival that day so not a happy resolution and no reduction to our room rate for 2nd night's stay.

Review 20:The location was good, easy to find and within walking distance of Dunkirk town centre. Rooms very clean and the kitchenette with fridge very useful.

Review 21:Had two night stay and entry card didn't work for second night - would have been very awkward had we got back later in the evening. Couldn't get into reception on first night as not manned full time and doors operate on pass cards which are only issued when you get in

Review 22:Location close to town centre. Plenty of parking available. Easy to find. Staff reasonably helpful. Good choice of restaurants close by. Room facilities good for short stay (kitchenette, fridge, microwave).

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:This facility is ultra modern and none the worse for that. The location in a redeveloped part of the docks is excellent and very convenient for Dunkerque town centre.

Review 25:No complaints but it was not very easy to find.

Review 26:A good quality room in an excellent position in Dunkirk. The kitchenette was very handy. The underground car park was worth the 5 euros because it is safe and the lift from there to your room is very handy.

Review 27:The room we were given first was unbearably hot, we asked to change it and they weren't surprised and we moved to a nicer room at a normal temperature. But if they know that particular room is too hot for comfort why did they put us there in the first place?

Review 28:A good choice with self-catering, perfect for a Sunday night in France where everything it closed. The Location was interesting, on the docks, but it was a half hour drive to the car ferry which is why we were staying in Dunkerque.

Review 29:Too small rooms, parking not available (door was broken???), even if hotel was empty, impossible to delay check out.

Review 30:Cleanliness, location close to center.

Review 31:There was a lack of some basic kitchen items.

Review 32:Really good value, clean quiet and comfortable. Handy for a short break in Dunkirk and lovely Dockland surroundings.

Review 33:Bed was not very comfortable - extra pillows may have helped.

Review 34:Location & underground secure parking. Very good breakfast selection. Helpful & efficient staff. Easy walking distance to Dunkerque's restaurants & sites.

Review 35:Took us ages to find the underground car park entrance, which was a couple of 'blocks' removed from our Reception Block.

Review 36:Great view over the water. It was normally student accomodation in term time, but it was fine for a one night stay. The Lift was essential and welcomed. The underground car park was huge and very secure, although easy to lose your bearings.Perfect

Review 37:Self catering was very good with extras available from reception. Lovely view from the room and easy parking in the local area. Very quiet for a good night sleep.

Review 38:The area was next to the University and was a bit shabby, some of the rooms were obviously let out for social accomodation. The whole place needed a damn good clean and redecoration. The rooms were well equipped but tired. The first room we were offered stank so we asked to be moved. The second room was ok but no more than ok.

Review 39:This accomodation was ok as it was like self catered student accomodation. It was on the quayside and was only 20 mins from the Ferry terminal.

Review 40:The very flimsy toilet seat.

Review 41:Loved the view over the basin and out to sea, the apartment was clean and comfortable, staff were very helpful and recommended restaurants nearby. We parked in the street outside the hotel but there is underground parking, breakfast was good there is an extra charge for this. Really appreciated the mid day check out time.

Review 42:Very convenient for the UK ferry terminal. nice location close to a picturesque dock with fine shops. Excellent breakfast. unusual but comfortable beds.

Review 43:We were a little further away from the beach than I had expected, but this was not a real issue with a car.

Review 44:Simplicity of location. Interesting dock area. Modern facilities.

Review 45:Slow elevator, stairs only for emergency

Review 46:Good location, simple and pleasant atmosphere, value for money, convenient for stay near ferries, very kind and helpful staff, clean room, comfy bed, decent breakfast buffet, which is always a huge plus

Review 47:It was not only a little hard to find, the parking entrance (underneath) wasn't obvious. We had to go into reception to ask.

Review 48:Remarkable facilities from cooker to fridge, it would be a comfortable base for a longer self catering stay in Dunkirk, right next to the port. Opposite the University. Definitely worth the money.

Review 49:A kettle instead of a coffee maker would be better for British guests. No teabags, coffee etc provided.

Review 50:Quiet. Secure underground parking. OK for an overnight or couple of nights before taking ferry.

Review 51:Very close to University and every student has a car and wants to park it, or should that be abandon it!!

Review 52:Nice room in a nice location alongside old docks area

Review 53:Perfect location just a few miles from the channel ports, which is ideal for overnight stays prior or after ferry crossings. The staff are extremely helpful and multi lingual which is a real bonus if you suffer from school French! There are also lots of things to do in and around Dunkerque and lots of historical interest.

Review 54:More pillows. Bef uncomfortable but it was only for one night en route so ok.

Review 55:Lovely location. Good catering facilities but no shop to purchase supplies.

Review 56:The hotel is only ten minutes from the channel port and a perfect overnight stop prior to starting your journey. Rooms are comfortable and have everything that you need if you were to self cater, the breakfast is superb and the staff are extremely helpful and multi-lingual.

Review 57:Nearly impossible to get there because there was a cycle race on and all the streets were blocked off - not very sympathetic response when moaned to staff about it.

Review 58:Easy to find, lovely location, Staff pleasant and very helpful. Wish I had the opportunity to stay longer. Breakfast was basic but well stocked. Room was clean and quiet. Windows gave a great view and had curtains or blinds fitted. Cot for baby was in the room before we arrived. Staff explained everything in English for us

Review 59:Loved the decor and the view from my window Also breakfast was fabulous and served in a lovely room again with great views. Very friendly staff and great value for money.

Review 60:On our second night stay the fridge was a little noisy at times.

Review 61:Nice, comfortable & clean apartments. We stayed twice during ourtrip to the Belgium gp. We had breakfast which was very good & allyou could eat which set us up for our trip. The underground parking isvery secure which meant we could leave our car full of camping equipmentsafely. Next to the apartments is a car park with on old London bus onit which sells the most amazing pizzas for around €10. a god send afteraround 10 hours travelling. The rooms we stayed in didn't look likethe ones in the pictures so don't expect it to look like that.Regardless of that it was very comfortable & great value for moneyat €69. We will for sure use again on our next trip to the gp.

Review 62:Breakfast is expensive, and there's no alternative close by.

Review 63:Not spacious, but more than adequate for a short stay. Lovely view over the quay and close to the ferry port.

Review 64:For 2 adults and 1 teenager we had to get 2 flats when 1 with a put up bed would have been adequate. On plus side, they were adjoining and it was easy to walk to and fro.

Review 65:Location and cleanliness. Free parking if there early enough.

Review 66:some staff was a little unfriendly and not very helpful

Review 67:excellent room for little money, close to the ferry, our room had a gorgeous view over the haven, lot of space in the room

Review 68:The travel instructions were good. Parking was good. We just used it for an overnight stop en route from UK to Germany. It had everything we needed for that and was clean and comfortable.

Review 69:The photos online give the impression of a fantastic view of a nice ship, this is on the opposite side of the apartments. District a little seedy, restaurants expensive. Paid extra for view to have passenger ferry on the river! Take your own pillows!

Review 70:Room clean. Nice walk to restaurants.

Review 71:It was difficult to get into the toliet as the bed was blocking the entrance. No air conditioning.

Review 72:The studio was well equipped for our stay. Free parking nearby didn't need to use the underground. Lovely view of the canal. Were able to leave the window open during the hot night.

Review 73:We were a little disappointed that there wasn't even a kettle in the room. There was a coffee percolator but no coffee, tea, milk, sugar. Nothing. I know it is "self catering" but people usually do not carry these basics with them, and as we were on motorcycles we were not carrying anything with us.

Review 74:The location was great and the private parking under the building (at a price) was very convenient. The room, although not big, was pleasant and clean.

Review 75:On arriving at hotel went to our room to find it not ready - the towels were used and on the floor and the bed was a mess, given another room but no extra pillows ( just one very flat pillow each in room) as we were told the hotel was fully booked.

Review 76:Location

Review 77:Lovely location on the harbour 5 minutes walk from Dunkirk centre and 15 minutes walk from the beach. The rooms were simplistic, clean, comfortable and perfect for a short overnight stay. As such the All Suites Appart Hôtel was good value for money, and I would stay here again.

Review 78:Very basic and not anywhere near the dffds ferry. Room was very basic, even the shower wasn't designed properly. Bed was uncomfortable. Essentially designed as a place to doss down in for those on a tight budget.

Review 79:Helpful staff.

Review 80:Finding a nearby restaurant with a spare table on a Saturday night in August was a challenge - all closed or full. We recommend Quai 17!

Review 81:Right on the water. Simple but very comfortable.

Review 82:Didn't figure out the wifi but it wasn't a problem as the TV had good channels!

Review 83:Friendliness of staff, location and practicality with kids. Also nice and quiet

Review 84:sofa bed was fine, but not as comfy as most 'proper' beds; some noise fr omadjacent rooms

Review 85:staff very friendly and helpful, parking good, breakfast good

Review 86:hotel in back road with a university one side and docks the other with a view of graffiti covered buildings.Beds so narrow you risk falling out every time you turn over ! Rooms could do with a good clean, walls dirty headboard thick dust, net curtains could do with a good wash. We let the cleaners in one day and they pulled the duvet over my daughters unmade bed without sorting the bottom sheet out just left is screwed up,, and emptied the bins, that was it! No instructions for combo oven microwave

Review 87:staff very good couldn't have been more helpful

Review 88:Nothing to dislike.

Review 89:Good location to town. Friendly helpful staff. Large room with comfy bed. English channels on TV. Placed on picturesque harbour close to bars and restaurants. Free parking

Review 90:no a/c. Hot and sticky.

Review 91:Handy for all aspects of a Dunkerke visit. Fairly quiet overlooking the mooring basin. For 5 euros a secure parking basement was available.

Review 92:The pull out couch was uncomfortable to sleep on with the bars underneath, but once we pulled the mattress onto the floor we slept very well.

Review 93:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 94:Location OK but not perfect - in a reasonably central but rather empty former-docks area of town with few restaurants etc. Room overlooking large carpark with lorry park at the end of it. There were some people in this car park (truckers on a break?) talking loudly at night, audible from my room with the window open. Not a great deal of character to room - a bit spartan.

Review 95:Large, clean room

Review 96:We booked in here on a bit of an extended booze cruise and we're really surprised with Dunkerque, it's a very nice city. The staff were great all speaking good English. Room was nice though you would not be able to cook a large meal, there was enough stuff for two.

Review 97:Key did not work, it was actually a broken one, had to go back to reception which was a bit of hike at the end of a long day. Self catering but no washing up products???

Review 98:comfortable

Review 99:Unusual access to building felt a bit like hostel, but fine once arrived in room

Review 100:View over water, spacious quiet room with sufficient equipment for basic cooking. option of secure parking. Helpful staff

Review 101:Not actually a problem, but to be aware: the bathroom is huge but no bathtub

Review 102:Efficient check in and check-out. Easy access from train station but not really next door, (10 min walk). Spacious room and very decent breakfast for French standards.

Review 103:The beds were really uncomfortable and the breakfast was not very impressing and did not meet with our expectations since we paid 10€/person for it.

Review 104:The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

Review 105:Quiet, good view and clean. I had read previous reviews and knew to ask for a kettle. Staff very helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to go back.

Review 106:Room looking over the port was just so quiet despite hotel being full due to our stay coinciding with the arrival of the 'little ships'. Welcoming staff, excellent breakfast - would certainly return.

Review 107:One minor thing. They could have provided a welcome Tea and Coffee for the price. Always welcome after a physically demanding day. Had to go out and buy my own.

Review 108:The bed was comfortable. Liked the modern feel of the room/apartment. Great breakfast and view on port from breakfast room.

Review 109:The bed was not comfortable for me, too hard. And you could feel cigarettes smoke in the hallway as well as bathroom which is not that nice for non smokers.

Review 110:Clean, spacious, great location and friendly stuff.

Review 111:Good location. A small charge for underground parking but due to roofbox we used the large free carpark adjacent. Short walk to good bars and restaurant. Operation Dynamo museum also within walking distance. Bright rooms. Good breakfast selection.Helpful reception staff.

Review 112:Room hadn't been cleaned bed hadn't been changed had to go back to reception to feel them. They did sort this out but very inconvenient to have to go out after long journey to wait for room to be cleaned. Has put me of staying again

Review 113:Very noisy. We could hear the neighbors conversation. Very annoying when traveling with a small child that is in bed early.

Review 114:Good location, value for money

Review 115:The building was partly a student hostel and the spartan room reflected its alternate use.The location on the docks was somewhat dismal.

Review 116:Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was perfectly fine.

Review 117:Great little studios. Useful well equipped kitchenette. Excellent bathroom. Would definitely stay again. Dunkirk itself was a pleasant surprise, clean and tidy. Found a great family run restaurant, really welcoming.

Review 118:Smell of stale cigarette smoke.

Review 119:We arrived very late (11.45pm) as our boat got in late, and I called ahead to let the staff know. The night staff was a chap who didn't speak English, but was very helpful and we just about managed. After a very tiring journey there, we were worried that we would be sleeping in the car, with it being so late, but the reception was open and he remembered the phone call. It was a great relief to be able to get a good night's sleep before our drive to Austria the next day. The corridor had a bit of a stale smoke smell, but the room was very clean and bed particularly comfortable. The WiFi worked very well and shower nice and strong, although my husband being taller found it wasn't high enough. We didn't stay for breakfast so not able to comment on that. The location was also lovely with a view of the water.

Review 120:Plenty of underground parking - worth it if car loaded with stuff from Auchan. Kitchenette quite adequate for simple meals, good sharp knives (incl. decent bread knife). We cooked spag bol, steak, onions and potato. No washing up liquid so used shampoo. Got some coffee filters from the breakfast room kitchen - no bother. Very quiet.

Review 121:Nothing to complain about whatsoever. Read a few silly reviews beforehand (i.e. cant get all UK TV channels). Don't take any notice of those. Excellent hotel.

Review 122:Secure parking and overall cleanliness. Several restaurants round the corner as well as Dunkirk centre across the bridge. All within walking distance. Security tight getting into building and into lifts - need the room card, so ideal for single woman if at all worried.

Review 123:Drawback - it's in the dock/harbour area and being near water it can get a bit fresh in the winter months. In two visits, even with instructions, couldn't get the grill on the microwave to work.

Review 124:2nd time of using. Great for an overnight break on a France shopping trip. Having cooking facilities you can bring your own bacon and eggs for breakfast (but don't forget the condiments). Bars and Restaurants not far away. Secure underground car park. In December Xmas market nearby. Will definitely use again

Review 125:ALthough we could have asked for a kettle, it would have been good if there was one in the rooms.

Review 126:Even though we were only there for one night it was really good to have our own kitchen facilities, rather than have to buy breakfast. Great location and welcoming staff.

Review 127:Whats not to like

Review 128:The window blinds and kitchen . Location easy walk to town centre . Please ignore the above the hotel will be full next time I want to go .

Review 129:Only stayed one night so kitchenette was wasted on us. However remember to take some stuff like coffee and tea and maybe cereal with you and you can make all the free drinks you want in your room. Breakfast was excellent was usual selection plus pancakes, sausages and scrambled egg. There is a large free car park right beside the hotel. 10 minute walk to city centre - 5 mins to cinema and restaurant complex

Review 130:Parking was not free, although not that expensive and secure. No kettle in the room but easily remedied if you asked at reception. Studio was quite small but ok for a few days, if going for longer probably best to upgrade to a one room apartment.

Review 131:The location was central and I liked the fact it had a small sink, hob and fridge and this made it easier travelling with a baby. The staff were friendly and there was free wifi
