Reviews for Best Western Bastia Centre
Review 1:The location was a little far but was fine for us. Made it more quiet being a little further from the centre of town.
Review 2:We're upgraded for free. First time in bastia and it was awesome.
Review 3:At top of a sheepish hill from the centre, only about ten minutes walk but may not suit some travellers.
Review 4:Friendly staff Good breakfast Good sized bedroom Tea and coffee making facility
Review 5:The a/c in the rooms only just about copes. I have stayed in this hotel for many years and this year the a/c was not as good as it has been in the past.
Review 6:Convenient location with a not too long a walk into the centre. Excellent secure parking. There is even a large supermarket a very short distance away.
Review 7:Blankets on bed are very thick so you have to put THE airco on very cold When checking in at 15:00 we were told to come back after one hour , room was not ready yet. I asked to check for another room available
Review 8:Parking space
Review 9:Huge cobweb in the room for duration of our stay. At the top of a steep hill. Facilities not as good as St Raphael hotel.
Review 10:The reception staff were great, very helpful.
Review 11:Paying for the secure underground carpark. Lack of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Grim 15 min walk up a steep hill to get back to the hotel.
Review 12:Secure underground carpark. Hotel in a quiet location. Easy 10 min walk downhill to the town
Review 13:Location is slightly out of the city centre. About 15/20 mins walk.
Review 14:Staff was very helpful and kind. Parking for the motorbike was in a closed garage under the hotel. Very clean.
Review 15:Ok breakfast - not full irish, but ok. Nice room, big bed, but Etap/Ibis bathroom, clean - ok. It is away from the town, but after 3 weeks on Corsica walking around - no problem. I think there is free bus from the railway station to the Citadelle.
Review 16:Not the most central of locations and with limited restaurants in the vicinity.
Review 17:Very clean with efficient staff. Good facilities including free wifi and free use of printer. Underground parking for 8 euros per day. Easy to find and a 10 euro taxi ride from the town. We had an evening meal here and it was probably as good as we would get anywhere nearby.
Review 18:Location - nothing close to the hotel. Rooms felt small, especially the bathroom which felt like an airplane toilet.
Review 19:Comfortable beds and was clean. Only stayed one night and was fine for this purpose.
Review 20:The hill leading to hotel was a challenge especially in the soaring heat, but this was overcome by the number 2 bus worth every penny at just over €3 for 2 people. Would have been nice to have a swimming pool.
Review 21:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was air conditioned and comfortable with a great shower.
Review 22:The staff was very helpful and spoke nice English. Location is very good, central but still quiet. Rooms and the hotel were very clean, facility for making tea and coffee in the room was nice. Checking-in and out was very fast. Good choice in Bastia.
Review 23:Everything was fine.
Review 24:The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. I had a dental emergency and the staff were brilliant and I would particularly like to mention Benjamin who was just fantastic
Review 25:It is a long, hot walk up the hill. It would be helpful if there were a local bus from the ferry port / shops & restaurants.
Review 26:The comfort & cleanliness.
Review 27:We are a mature couple, without a car for this holiday, and the hotel is on a slope/hill above the town....so on a hot day a climb !
Review 28:The Hotel is well kept , modern and functional and all staff were helpful.
Review 29:Bathroom was strange.
Review 30:We arrived very late into Bastia after our ferry from Livorno was delayed. It was one of the strangest rooms we have ever stayed in, but it was clean, comfortable and quite spacious. The bathroom was like a 80’s fibreglass pod refurbishment. Parking was underneath the hotel and quite secure. Breakfast was okay with a decent selection.
Review 31:The third bed in the triple room wasn't prepared. We had to build up the bed for our own, even for the second night. There is a lot of traffic arround the hotel.
Review 32:Everybody from the reception-team was helpful, friendly and competent and spoke different languages. The room was basic, but clean. Safe car park. Very good for guest who wants to get a ferry crossing. O.K. for one or two nights.
Review 33:Our comfortable room with excellent shower was larger than typical 3-star European hotel rooms. Try the €5 "Express Breakfast" -- it's generous! The friendly staff speaks some English.
Review 34:the Bathroom was basically a plastic element within the room(like on a cruise ship), unsusal but functioning though
Review 35:Rooms are ok and clean, location to port is close by, walking distance to the bay
Review 36:We loved Corsica-the island is magic & the best city is Bastia. The hotel is well situated, stuff very helpful. The room was small but we had all we needed.
Review 37:It was about 1 km walk from the hotel to the center of the city. Walking down was OK, but coming back was steep uphill - and we usually like to walk.
Review 38:breakfast was a bargain at 10 euro; comfortable rooms, bed; quiet rooms.
Review 39:Good location, very clean hotel. They were happy to accommodate with a meal at 10pm. Good variety for breakfast. My husband accidently left his wallet in the room when we checked out but it was promtly returned by housekeeping staff. We booked this hotel as good place to stay when our ferry arrived in from Nice. And will be using this hotel again when we leave.
Review 40:A bit away from city center and in the area with nothing around. Breakfast a bit basic although not expensive. No pool
Review 41:Clean, modern hotel with friedly English speaking staff for reasonable money
Review 42:We had a broken lock at the door, but instead to offer us a new room, we were always accompanied to the room, so the door could be opened with a little machine, Furthermore we were woken at 6.30 am by the phone, as either the previous guests asked for being woken up or they mixed up our room with another. When paying I mentioned also this, and I personally think that the hotel should have at least offered a price reduction for all the inconvenience!!!
Review 43:Parking space Easy to get to city centre walking
Review 44:We arrived in Corsica to do the GR20 and had no problems at all leaving a suitcase in the baggagerie with nice clean clothes to wear after we had finished the route. The reception could not have been more helpful in arranging this. It is also only a short walk down the hill to the bus stop in front of the prefecture that goes to the airport - saving us a big taxi bill.
Review 45:Secure parking. Short drive to ferry terminal. Breakfast starts at 6.
Review 46:Convenient location, it's easy to get there, just 10-15 minutes walk to the port.
Review 47:Facilities good but have had better at Best Western
Review 48:Staff were excellent, very approachable and helpful.
Review 49:Comfortable, clean, friendly staff and within walking distance of the center of Bastia
Review 50:Ghastly garage - difficult to park and the hotel charges
Review 51:Very good bedrooms - spacious and quiet
Review 52:It was up the hill and too far from downtown.
Review 53:Courteous staff
Review 54:Room is spacious. Tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Review 55:Hard to find when we arrived at night; Best Western sign lights were off. Parking is super tight.
Review 56:The staff were friendly, and the car-parking was very convenient.
Review 57:the Superior Room missed the fridge
Review 58:The bed was very big and comfortable
Review 59:Nice sheets. Pleasant staff, quiet hotel. Aircon.
Review 60:- Located a bit off - Airconditioning was not good at all. - Bathroom looks like you were on a boat.
Review 61:- Great value for the money - Good service
Review 62:Same Stardarts for a chain hotel.
Review 63:Location of hotel And friendliness of staff
Review 64:Excellent location - peaceful and handy Breakfast was also excellent Knowledge of the staff for the points of interest in the city
Review 65:Very nice and very clean. I would recommend it
Review 66:Downtown is in walking distance. Very helpful staff.
Review 67:Up a hill!
Review 68:Good location : 10 minutes walk to the cafes at the quayside and 5 minutes walk to the station.
Review 69:Nothing
Review 70:Location, calm, clean, good sized room, comfy bed.
Review 71:Not really in the city center - takes a steep climb up a hillside road to reach.
Review 72:Nice room. Clean.
Review 73:The bed had a plastic mattress cover that made the bed very hot.
Review 74:Rest of room and hotel were nice.
Review 75:Cycling friendly
Review 76:liked the simplicity of the showers. Don't ever change them!
Review 77:The view, very nerrow parking lot
Review 78:The modern bathomètre Great breakfast
Review 79:Best Western doesn't disappoint. We stay with them because we can be confident that we get what we pay for.
Review 80:longish walk from center-up hill on the way back long walk to historic center expensive and ordinary breakfast
Review 81:clean
Review 82:Long hike up the hill.
Review 83:Friendly efficient staff Clean comfortable room Secure parking Top of the hill great outlook
Review 84:The Internet connection is abysmal! Totally unacceptable in the 21st century.
Review 85:Everything
Review 86:bad wifi
Review 87:middle of the town, you can walk
Review 88:Internet +++ Room +++ Parking ++ Perfect for one day
Review 89:Usual extras - parking and breakfast.
Review 90:Convenient for ferry or town. Helpful staff.
Review 91:Location
Review 92:All was fine
Review 93:Other people have mentioned the steep hill, which I suppose is true, but it really isn't that bad. Just be aware that if you have a lot of luggage it might take you a bit longer than usual, or catch a bus/taxi up the hill.
Review 94:We originally booked for one night, and then extended for two further nights, and the staff were great at sorting things out, as we were also travelling with friends who had a baby. We used the little roof terrace and brought our own food back and ate several meals there, and although it wasn't amazing in terms of view, it worked really well for us. It was close to the city centre, convenient for the train station and the ferry port, and the rooms were comfortable.
Review 95:The hotel is located uphill but still fairly close to the center of town.
Review 96:Staff was friendly. Nice rooms. Close to train station. Close to downtown Bastia
Review 97:Nice, comfortable room, staff were very friendly and accommodating - even giving us a screwdriver and glasses when we wanted to have a snack dinner with our own wine just outside the main entrance of the hotel. 24 hour reception cover is great for a late arrival.
Review 98:"Bastia centre" could be a misleading description - the hotel is up a hill in a residential area.. Hard to get to unless you have a car.
Review 99:Clean, good sized room. Kettle and tea and coffee sachets were available (free of charge) upon request. Quiet location.
Review 100:A small fridge in the room would have been nice. Breakfast a bit expensive so we did not have it.
Review 101:We had a big room with sofa and double bed which was very fine for our family of 4. Bathroom small but perfect. AIRCO - very nice for a stay in July!
Review 102:Suprisingly the staff was not really fit to handle payment with credit card ...
Review 103:Efficient air condition and windows with noise isolation guarantee a relaxing night
Review 104:the location. up a very very steep hill. we arrived by train and found it very difficult to walk from from the station to the hotel with all our bags.
Review 105:helpful staff, clean well appointed room, good breakfast etc. best bed we slept in, in the whole of Corsica.
Review 106:Had difficulty finding it because Tom Tom destination was 350 m closer to port and street signs absent or near impossible to find up the hill. May be a problem with how the address is described. A street number would have helped to locate it. Going up the hill, the big Best Western sign is obscured by a tree.
Review 107:Staff friendly and helpful and breakfast was good.
Review 108:The title of the hotel is not annouced outside, instead best Western Corsica. This makes it difficult to find it.
Review 109:Nice, good quality hotel, near the city centre
Review 110:We were returning from hiking in the mountains and flying home from Bastia. We wanted something convenient to the rail station, the airport bus stop and the city centre for a look at things before leaving and the Best Western there provided all these.
Review 111:walking up the hill late at night, not very well lit. paid parking lot indoors was a little tight and we were not informed that there was free parking outdoors
Review 112:enjoyed the location, staff was helpful, food available at all times, woke up late first day and missed the breakfast, but were able to eat a lighter meal
Review 113:Little or no English spoken, no TV available, little to do for foot passengers (without a car). The walk from town centre after 8pm with no buses was long and arduous, hotel location is not good for pedestrians. No terrce or garden to sit in.
Review 114:Very clean and comfortable. Ideal for a short stay as a base with a car.We would like to make a special mention of receptionist Ms Marie Piere Colombany, very helpful on every matter & spoke good English.
Review 115:When requesting a further 1 day stay for our return journey I was advised that the only available room was 20% more expensive when in actual fact the hotel on the night in question was only 50% full
Review 116:Pleasant helpful and courteous staff
Review 117:Booked a triple room, but the 3rd bed was only an arm chair which needed to be unfolded and was not really comfortable.
Review 118:Modern hotel. Easy free parking outside on the road.
Review 119:The only issue was if you walk from the port, the hotel is not just 900 metre walk but a very steep climb - grab a taxi.
Review 120:Room was spacious compared with other hotels in France. Modern and well equipped but no tea/coffee making facilities. Evening staff were friendly and very helpful relating to local restaurants to dine in.
Review 121:Lack of charm about decor.
Review 122:Very professional, efficient staff. Excellent location when getting off ferry. ( Corsica ferries awful though. If there was a crisis at sea they'd be clueless and dangerous). Best western hotel is as usual a bit soulless. But you know what you are going to get. Clean, practical stopover with no charm but does the job very well. Best for one night only I'd say. Breakfast was plentiful and good value for money. Bastia just a big port town. Best part of Corsica for us was Calvi and L'ile Rousse.
Review 123:Ceiling panel fell on to me when I was in the shower. We told staff who showed no concern but just moved us to a smaller, smellier room. Hotel is situated at the top of a very big slope. It wasn't an enjoyable walk.
Review 124:Big beds, some staff were lovely.
