Reviews for Hotel Borel

Review 1:Location excellent for central Dunkirk. Excellent restaurants and shopping near by. Easy walk to sea views. Best supply of in room teas and coffees found on our trip.Close, easy and free parking.

Review 2:I couldn't figure out how to leave the window open just a bit to get some fresh air, which I would have liked.

Review 3:Very friendly staff, great breakfast.

Review 4:Having to leave ! Two days was too short in Dunkirk

Review 5:Excellent booking arrangements and very helpful and efficient staff. Clean and well maintained hotel. Especially Sylvie. Thank you for all help

Review 6:Breakfast buffet could have been topped up more often, bread for example. Lounge was very comfortable but lacked a bar and entertainment if wanting to stay at the hotel in the evenings, in bad weather for example.

Review 7:Restful and, easy access to the town, convenient local car parking. The staff were most welcoming, helpful and pleasant to be with.

Review 8:No Fridge and no ice was available. Only had Decaf Coffee. Had to ask for a Towel as not in room.

Review 9:Good Location and were able to park on street outside.

Review 10:The basic rooms were very basic, overlooking road. Breakfast room has no natural lighting, and self service worked but a little limited food.

Review 11:Overlooking harbour but only after upgrade to comfort rooms at 40 euros extra. Good free car parking and lovely restaurant right opposite.

Review 12:Our floor was being refurbished, this was 4th floor, but although the corridors were being redecorated this didn't affect our stay. So not really a criticism!

Review 13:Nice room with harbour view separate bathroom and wc. Bgreat food across the road at Editos.

Review 14:Lack of sufficient tea / coffee items (one sachet instant coffee, no milk)

Review 15:Very comfortable bed Good bathroom facilities Canal plus for live football Mini bar well stocked Excellent responsive heating Great lighting

Review 16:Perhaps the bathroom was some tiny. The refurnishing was a bit poor with plastic. But this is only small remark.

Review 17:Location. No noise in the room from outside. Big room. Nice breakfast. Near town and sea. In combination with the near resto excellent.

Review 18:The bath was "very pretty" but somewhat unsuitable for older people - getting into and out of the bath was a bit of a challenge particularly with knee problems.

Review 19:Situated in a convenient and attractive area, the hotel offered good facilities and provided careful advice on suitable local restaurants.

Review 20:Nothing negative to say.

Review 21:The size of the room was wonderful and extremely comfortable. I felt as though I was staying with relatives even though I don't speak the language. The location was primo!

Review 22:Wi-fi stops working if the phone isn't being used, but that's it.

Review 23:Good breakfast and not expensive, great staff, close to downtown and the water.

Review 24:Traffic noise was appalling. The kettle in the room smelt of vinegar. We both received excessive Mosquito bites. Also €5.00 for a small bottle of water!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 25:Nothing!!!!!!!!

Review 26:There is no hotel car park and although we parked opposite, which was very very close our car the following morning had been vandalised, both wing mirrors had been broken off when we returned to the vehicle. This was disappointing and did spoil our stay. Incidentally this could not have been an accident as we were parked in a space on the end. Not the hotels fault however does perhaps reflect on the area.

Review 27:Right in the port and very central to see boats etc lovely bistro restaurant immediately opposite.

Review 28:The bathroom is very fancy, but not too functional. The room service is quite poor.

Review 29:The location is perfect, especially with a view of the little harbor, The staff is friendly and very helpful, The design of the room (we had a suite) is elegant, with a British flavor; we appreciate the good quality of the bed. The breakfast, although mainly continental, is great..

Review 30:breakfast room was not very cosy no airconditioning

Review 31:free parking separate toilet (not in bathroom) nice towels staff was kind and helpfull near shops, restaurants and beach great breakfast (for a french hotel!)

Review 32:Hotel needs updated , and was very dull and bland no life about the place , if there was a bar or something where you could meet other people it would be much better , a bit out priced as well.

Review 33:Liked the closeness to the town.

Review 34:A bit dark and old fashioned, no bar in the hotel.

Review 35:Relaxed and easy hotel, staff speak good English and there are restaurants and bars nearby.

Review 43:Outside appearance a little off putting. Breakfast was extra, so we didnt take it.

Review 44:Reception staff very friendly. Good location. Nice decor inside.

Review 54:Room is not so big.

Review 69:Room and bathroom very clean. Only 5 mins walk to centre. Staff friendly

Review 70:No air con

Review 71:Location excellent

Review 72:- No air conditioning in room

Review 73:a little out of the town but good restaurants close by & Helpful friendly staff

Review 74:room very hot (but shouldn't complain about the weather!!!

Review 75:staff and location

Review 76:The staff were unfriendly at reception and around the hotel. The room bore no resemblance to that shown in the phortographs. There were room supplies for only one person in a double room. All- in- all, a poor showing by Hotel Borel.

Review 77:Location.

Review 78:Terrible Facilities 4 Star should have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms - None No ice avaliable Very basic rooms and breakfast

Review 79:Friendly Staff

Review 80:Slightly dark corridors but I am splitting hairs

Review 81:Staff were lovely and tolerated my atrocious french and answered in flawless English . They could not do enough for you .Rooms were great and spacious. Breakfast very good.Great Value

Review 82:We only had one bath towel in our room for two guests, Dunkerque was dead on a Sunday with almost nothing near the hotel open.

Review 83:The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The view over the harbour was very pretty and the room was comfortable and clean.

Review 84:Standards of maintenance and cleanliness (broken glass in a cupboard). Weird requirement to give personal I'd before getting Wi-Fi access. Expensive breakfast.

Review 85:Location and staff

Review 86:The content of the minibar wasn't up to date. There was a whole lot missing at my arrival. I had a broken lamp in my room wich made it very dark and almost impossible to work at the evening.

Review 87:The exterior of the hotel was to say the least not attractive and not a good presentation of the inside. With the provided wificode you can only login one aparatus.

Review 88:Location is close to the city centre, lovely room, clean and of nice design. Lovely small bathroom. Lady at the desk did her best to speak English. Breakfast was good and elaborate.

Review 89:I flexibility around my business trip, Friendly and understanding staff. Especially the man on nights who very happily went out of his way to make me a meal when I arrived late back after a hard day at work. Excellent service!!!

Review 90:Loved the decor and sparkling cleanliness of our bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet. Appreciated having a bath as well as shower. This was most welcome especially as it was wet and miserable outside. Breakfast room lovely with breakfast of a high standard and worth the 10 euros.

Review 91:Nothing

Review 92:We loved the whole feel of the place, the friendly atmosphere, wonderful experience, I personally stay away from home 33 ish weeks a year and seldom have enjoyed a hotel break as much as this one.

Review 93:Lighting to hallways extremely dim & room difficult to find as unable to see numbers! Our room on 1st floor situated immediately above hotel rubbish bins on ground floor, consequently the room was full of flies.Room very shabby, toilet roll holder hanging off wall, shower arm broken, shower screen broken which consequently flooded floor when used.

Review 94:Comfortable bed.

Review 95:Hotel looked very tired from outside and dirty and tired inside, beds were clean but room was not up to 4 star rating. It was a one night hotel and would not have stayed any longer

Review 96:All was very good but if we had been staying longer we would perhaps have asked for an extra pillow or two.

Review 97:We thought the hotel was very pleasant, very clean, and the staff were excellent and helpful throughout. The hotel is very central, we went to see the tall Sailing Ships as part of the Festival there in Dunkerque and we were right in the centre of things.

Review 98:Awful pillows. Average breakfast. Arrived at 21 30 on a Sunday evening and hardly anywhere open in vicinity to eat

Review 99:Easy to find. Although no parking at hotel, car park at side. Large connecting family room.

Review 100:The hotel didn't have a bar or cafe to relax in

Review 101:Rooms were a very good size with coffee & tea making facilities. Nice to have a bath and separate toilet

Review 102:It was rated as a 4* hotel and some aspects did not live up to that. The room was rather small with a small double bed that was incredibly uncomfortable. The hotel was by the mariner and there wasn't sufficient noise reduction in the room, traffic and pedestrian noise kept me awake into the early hours. Although there was a good choice of food at the breakfast buffet the bread was stale and hard.

Review 103:The staff were excellent and very helpful. It was very clean.

Review 104:Nothing much happening in Dunkerque - pretty dead as a town, and the beach area (St. Malo les Bains) doesn't offer much either.

Review 105:Staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Dunkerque is a good base for anyone wishing to travel to the UK by ferry - very frequent and easy connections.

Review 106:Nothing really.

Review 107:The receptionist, Marion was excellent. Very friendly and helpful with advice on restaurants and such things as an ironing board etc. Walk to most shops, restaurants. Clean large suite. She also spoke very good English. Parked the car on the street outside the hotel.

Review 108:Staff were very helpful, rooms comfortable, warm and clean. Dunkerque isa very pleasant town which is often overlooked by uk travellers, we willbe coming back to visit for certain.

Review 109:Nothing to dislike!

Review 110:A great hotel spotlessly clean and in a great location. Staff speak good English and are very friendly & helpful. We asked for milk to use with tea making facilities in room and extra tea bags also codes for free wi-fi. Would recommend and would stay again.

Review 111:Not worthy of four stars

Review 112:Great base to explore.

Review 113:Nothing really

Review 114:Room was very clean. There was tea and coffee available in the room. Breakfast was plentiful. Great location near city center.

Review 115:breakfast was limited no milk in the room for coffee

Review 116:location clean quiet

Review 117:Easy roadside parking. Nice rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy walk (10 mins) to the beach one way and in to town the other way.

Review 118:Bad Wifi. Slow and working intermittently. Small skower enclosure

Review 119:Good location Friendly staff Clean

Review 120:Central location, comfortable rooms

Review 121:The friendliness of the staff

Review 122:Wouldn't describe as 4 star.

Review 123:Lovely comfortable hotel. Good breakfast. Good location.

Review 124:Marion on reception was brilliant. Really helpful and friendly. The location was great and the family, interconnecting room met our needs perfectly.
