Reviews for Le Relais Saint Michel
Review 1:I couldn't use the Hotel restaurant for dinner without reservations.. There is no info about this.
Review 2:Location.. Veiw of balcony in the hotel i can see le mont saint michel directly.. Great
Review 3:部屋からモンサンミッシェルの夜景を眺めるためか、部屋の天井にライトが一つもなく、暗かったので少し不便- でした。 There is no light on the ceiling in the room so that very dark and inconvenient to read something, but it's for the night view in a better way from the room.
A great view of the Mont Saint-Michel from the room and the shuttle bus stop is just near the hotel, which is very convenient. We checked in the hotel before 16:00, but the receptionists were nice to us and we could check in very smoothly.
Review 5:Rude waiter & super stingy young woman at front desk. I didn't get maid service and needed coffee refreshed for the morning - she acted like I was a coffee addict or something, giving me just one and a very stern lecture about how she is supposed to charge. So weird.
Review 6:Loved my room & view.
Review 7:Furniture was being moved at 3am in restaurant below us for about and hour. Drink that my husband ordered was on menu but not available. (Jack Daniels) Shower head had to be held as did not hold in wall bracket when turned on.
Review 8:View of St Michel was great
Review 9:We had someone break into our room and attempt to rob us. Staff were unhelpful and not concerned. They did not appropriately manage this situation.
Review 10:Hotel was lovely
Review 11:The first room given to us smelt like an ashtray, so we requested a non-smoking room. The staff struggled with such request (lots of tourist buses coming with Asian tourists, many of them are smokers), but eventually, was able to accommodate.
Review 12:Location is absolutely terrific. The direct view of Mont St. Michel from the room and restaurant.
Review 13:everything else other than the view. we went for breakfast at 9:30am (breakfast finished at 10:00) - and the restaurant staff were busy setting up for lunch already, tables being rearranged around us, no coffee, stale bread and lack of service all together. they had 3 tables (all couples) and not even one of the four staff arranging tables paid any attention to us until we had to ask.
Review 14:the best, and only good thing about this hotel is the view.
Review 15:The staff could not communicate in English. We paid almost $300 per night and had at best an obstructed view of Mont Saint Michel. The hotel could've been a lot cleaner.
Review 16:The location .
Review 17:Breakfast is way overpriced because of the view. Eat at nearby cafés/restaurants - a few minutes walk. La Rotisserie is recommended.
Review 18:Great view of Le Mont. Very spacious room and bathroom. Nespresso machine and 3 capsules provided. Free bus to Le Mont every 10 mins stopped beside the hotel.
Review 19:1 Smell in gents toilets. 2 Being charged 4 Euros to park in the hotel car park overnight when spending 450 euros for a nights stay
Review 20:Location is the very best you will ever get. Views of the Mont from the bedroom window and balcony. Very convenient for the free transport to the Mont. Excellent cuisine in stunning dining room.
Review 21:We booked the room 3 weeks ago and I saw there are still plenty of rooms at that time. When we arrived this hotel, it was 2pm. We left our baggage and the reception told us our room will be ready around 4pm. So we went to saint Michel and returned hotel at 5pm. We got our key, but on the grand floor with no view. We arrived hotel so early only for getting a room with view but the reception still give those to other guests who arrived later than us. I am definitely not blaming other guests but can not forgive reception, because it was not fair. And when we tried to negociate with her( reception), she said 'most of our customers book their room 3 months ago'. Really? So what I saw on this website was ghost? And she didn't want to help at all except giving us a ' I don't want to solve this for you just get used to it' face. And the room was also terrible. The curtained can't be closed and the light on balcony can't be turn off, we couldn't get sleep all night. They served an emepty tank of shower&hair gel. And a expresso machine with no water tank. Chairs and table on balcony were extremly dirty. Nobody can sit on that without 1 hour cleaning, by yourself of course. The restaurant was also a disappointment. Average food but overpriced. The lamb was not even warm. Nothing good except the location, but there are a lot of hotels are very near from this I don't know what to call it place but doing much more better work.
Review 22:Location.
Review 23:Location was great. Nothing else.
Review 24:* Mt Saint Michel in not visible from the rooms on the ground floor - there is a tree line right in front of the windows * Staff shuffles guests around, we book a room on the 1 floor but arrived after 4PM and were given a ground floor room with no clear view of the island * Staff is very unhelpful and unresponsive, you need a lot of patience dealing with them * Wifi is not available in all rooms, there are many blind spots * Extremely expensive breakfast, a much better option is to go outside and have a breakfast in Brioche Dorée by the supermarket
Review 25:Situated right on the shore with a great view on Mt Saint Michel from the restraint.
Review 26:on our last day, my wife fell down due to uneven grounds indoors, right next to the reception desk. there was a slight slope, with a bit of a step. that happens and we were not too upset, but while she was down, no one came to inquire on her health and well being. no one offered any help, even as she was lying there, crying in pain. a staff member walked by quickly on his way to somewhere else and said that they needed to put a piece of furniture over the gap that caused the fall. a few hours later, on advice from some friends, we filled out an accident report, just in case her injury caused a long term issue that would manifest later on, and no one still asked about my wife's well being. the hotel did not inform us of the proper procedure, and did not offer any support during the accident. this kind of service is thoughtless and rude. management came out to sign the accident report, and made no inquiries either.
Review 27:the location is unbeatable. they should tell you how to get in as there is a "customs" booth at the entrance and you have to call the hotel to enter
Review 28:Arriving by car we had a little difficulty finding the entrance to the Hotel vs. the entrance to the carpark for Mont St-Michel. Make sure you bring their telephone number to call on the day of your arrival to obtain the password for the entrance gate, as otherwise you will not be able to reach the hotel. You cannot get this password in advance.
Review 29:Dead on view of Mont St-Michel from our room and private balcony for less than the price of a Days Inn in San Francisco with no view at all
Review 30:Exorbitant prices for room and food based purely on location rather than quality of the hotel. No TV controller in our room - had to chase up twice. Curtain hooks missing and carpet dirty. Only one room key, one small bottle of water and three coffee capsules provided for two person occupancy. Sea view promised but not possible for ground floor rooms. Broken decking, weedy terrace.
Review 31:Location close to Mont St Michel Food at dinner good. Plenty of parking.
Review 32:The fact that the hotel was so run down, shabby and unclean. How it was rated as a four star goodness knows. I would have said two. It wasn't possible to get a coffee at 10.30 am or 9.30 pm! Unbelievable for a four star. The piano bar wasn't even set up for guests to use so there were no facilities at all to just sit and admire the view. After all this is why we paid double the price of other hotels in the area to stay there. The staff in the dining room were unfriendly and the menus were very expensive so we gave that a miss and dined on MSM. We met some people who had dined at our hotel and they complimented us on our decision as they said the food was terrible. We didn't bother with breakfast at E25 a head it seemed extortionate especially as there were better places to grab a coffee and a croissant nearby. Our room was large with a second bedroom. (Perhaps this could have been used if we had fallen out over my decision to book this awful hotel?). It was tired and dirty. The only nice bit was an orchid placed on the coffee table. The balcony was all overgrown with weeds. The walls needed painting, windows needed cleaning and I could go on. The carpets were stained, our bathroom mirror had large brown stains all over it, you couldn't close the curtains ... Sorry I am going on ... The coffee machine was broken, there were no nice toiletries (just one of those shower come shampoo washing up liquid type dispensers on the wall). There was a complimentary small bottle of water and a biscuit that we clearly had to share! I felt for the poor girl at Reception (the only pleasant one with long dark hair Ghail) who probably had to deal with complaints on an hourly basis. So in a nutshell don't stay at this hotel. You only have to step out from the Mercure over the road for one minute to get the same view for free. After all you don't stay in your room all day and at the Relais you definitely wouldn't want to!
Review 33:View of Mont Saint Michel
Review 34:The hotel is old and shabby. Everything about it is 3 star, including breakfast, but they rip you off for that fantastic view.
Review 35:Fantastic view, peaceful surroundings.
Review 36:Tired and battered lift + hall-ways really lets public areas + bedrooms down. Breakfast was ridiculously expensive at 90 Euros for family of 4 - we got breakfast at Brioche Doree down road for 23 Euros
Review 37:Location - closest hotel to Mont St Michel that's not on the actual island
Review 38:Very slow worked staff - I phoned on Monday -the day I leaved hotel-about my shorts forgotten in the room but it tooks 3 days to find it and send me via express post-untill Thuersday. Finally I received my package on next Monday in Paris.
Review 39:Location was absolutely perfect and room was superb.
Review 40:Asked for the double bed but had two singes next to each other. Could not eat after 3 pm at the hotel after checking out in the morning. Had to eat in different hotel. It did not have English speaking Chanel on TV
Review 41:Location is perfect.Good size room. Friendly staff.Ideal view on mont saint Michel from the room and from the breakfast windows.Free WIFI and parking
Review 42:This property might have been 4 star in 1955 but not today. It is old and tired; the staff is not helpful; there is nothing positive to say. We feel completely misled. How can you rate this hotel as 4 star??!!
Review 43:Absolutely nothing!!
Review 44:With the exception of one staff, who was present in the first day, all of the staff at the reception were extremely rude and unprofessional. I find it hard to believe this is a 4 star hotel charging 560Euro a night.
Review 45:Hotel was very close to Mt Saint MIchel.
Review 46:The hotel has very good photographers, making it look much more special than it is. We tried to get a glass of wine at 10:30pm on the saturday night and were told nothing in the hotel was available, nor in any nearby places. We told the man at the desk we wished to check out the next morning (two days early) and he said it was no problem. The next morning, however, when we checked out, we were told we would have to pay for all three nights. I argued with him and he reduced it to the one night we stayed, but he added on an extra 64 euro supplemental room charge which brought the room to 288 Euros! There is no way this hotel is worth that kind of money. It made us very angry and when we said it was unfair, he said it was Booking.com's fault for not telling us that the saturday night was more expensive than the sunday and monday.
Review 47:The view of Mont St Michel was superb other than the massive digger right in front of our view.
Review 48:Given the tariff for the room, the menu choices/quality at the restaurant and bar/wine stock was alarmingly dismal (e.g., the wine list would be an unmitigated embarrassment to even a mediocre bistro in Coral Gables, Florida, even though at this property you are in France!)l!!!! (But, still the view almost made up for these deficiencies.) Now that I have been there and once had the view going to sleep and awakening, I would never, ever pay this tariff to go back given this property's other defieciencies!! (Though, admittedly, nothing nearby appeared to be better and none had the view, but at least one I stopped at had a FAR superior wine list.) In sum, not a luxury hotel justifying the price. It is all about the view (assuming no fog/rain) and convenience.
Review 49:The views from the room, restaurant and patio are fantastic, stupendous, awesome, incredible -- cannot be beaten!!!!!!!! The ultimate "room with a view"!!!!!!!!!! And, it is as convenient to Mont Saint-Michel itself as one can get without booking a hotel on the Mont itself (or sneaking in by landing craft). If this is what all you want and you do not mind the hefty price, do it! and, if it is your honeymoon night (or some equivalent) you are planning for and can afford it, ABSOLUTELY DO IT!!!
Review 50:On arrival on sat evening 930pm, we were told briskly that the restaurant was closed. Only after my official complaint did they changed their mind and let us have dinner (and we also left before other tables)... Furthermore, wifi was wak and unstable. And, finally, both on arrival and after dinner there was nobody at reception...in an allegedly 4 star hotel. No comment
Review 51:Excellent position, just in front of mont st Michel. Good food, but too pricey
Review 52:The hair dryer did not work, nor did the air conditioning in our room. Was quite warm.
Review 53:Very well located hotel. Able to view Mont St. Michael beautifully at night and in the early AM. The staff was excellent, especially the gentleman (just forgot his name) at the front desk. He was extremely pleasant and most helpful. He is truly an asset for the hotel. Welcoming, helpful and accommodating.
Review 54:We had a great view on Mont St. Michael from our room, which was clean and comfy.
Review 55:- No reliable internet connection in the room or lobby. - Very simple breakfast with only one hot meal (scrambled eggs). - There was a mixed up with a room key. The one we've received was for a different room but surprising worked fine for a half of the day until midnight when we had to search for a proper one. Strange... - Non requested wake-up call at 6pm spoiled the whole experience.
Review 56:I arrived at the restaurant at 9:10 pm. The young waitress asked me if I had made a reservation. My answer was negative so she said a table was not available. I told her I was a hotel guest there and she asked me to wait for 10 minutes. At 9:22 pm (I remembered the time very well) I asked her again. She signalled me to ask the one who looked like the manager. To my surprise, dinner time was over. I would not have been so put off if I had been told earlier that I definitely could not eat there. I had been sitting on the chair right outside the restaurant to wait for a table. As a result, I went to Reception to ask if room service was available but the answer was again negative. Anyway, the front office staff was kind enough to tell me that dinner might be available in restaurants nearby. However, after 9:30 pm, it was hard to find a place to eat. I went from one restaurant to another, a total of four, before finally getting something to eat. It was so hectic! But not all the hotel restaurant staff are unhelpful. The next morning I went for breakfast and found that two other staff were very nice indeed.
Review 57:The location of the hotel is very good. I could see St Michel directly from the terrace of my room. My husband could take photos there. Staff at Reception are nice and helpful.
Review 58:Not worth the price for a deemed 4 star location. €25 way too much for that kind of breakfast. Very low price/quality ratio
Review 59:Location - 'vue imprenable" on the Mont-Saint-Michel Friendliness of receptionist.
Review 60:The bathroom was not clean and there were still hair in the shower from previous guests. Also at other areas it was not really clean and I think the hotel should improve this. After we complained it was immediately rectified but still it left us with a bad feeling.
Review 61:The room was a suite room with two floors and a large window out to the Mt. St. Michel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 62:the bed and its mattress were awful!!. we were a couple and for once we were together, we got 2 beds closed to each other but impossible to sleep next to each other. Before we arrived, I read the same critic on review and I called the hotel to be sure to have a real bed for couple but no! Plus, the service at the restaurant wasn't great. The director wasn't kind. this hotel doesn't deserve 4 stars but 2 or maxi 3. You need to know that if this hotel got 4 stars it's thanks of its location only.
Review 63:the location and the view
Review 64:It was much too expensive for what it was. Even after paying 240€ theywanted us to pay 25€ per person for the breakfast. Then when I paid toleave they charged me another 4€ for the entry code. With the price theycharge the least they could have done is to cover that cost. The paintwas peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and the furniture was oldand scrubby. It is shocking the way they treat tourists. I definitely donot recommend this hotel.UNE ARNAQUE! C'était trop chère. La chambre à 240€ puis aussi il faut payer 25€/personne pour le petit déjeuner!!! En plus il faillait payer 4€ pour une code d'entrer de la voiture. C'est dommage qu'on traite les touristes pareil.
Review 65:The end room adjacent to the lift is very large with a large picture windows that gives a great landscape view of Saint Michel. To get this room we couldn't ask for more
Review 66:The room overlooking Mont St Michel had a spectacular view, our difficulty was in finding the property, which is behind a set of boom gates that requires a code that we were unaware of. Details were sent in an email subsequent to the booking.com confirmation that we did not know to look for.
Review 67:The view was spectacular and the the room was very comfortable.
Review 68:It's an old 4star hotel. We had the impression that they just keep making profit of having 4 stars but are actually not trying to keep them or to maintain the building. The heating made a lot of noise and when we called for help somebody came and tried to fix it but in the night it started again. He also mentioned that they already had this problem in this room. So why didn't they fixed it properly? The room was not well cleaned. As soon as you looked in some corners there were dead insects.
Review 69:The place is perfect just in front of the mont st michel.
Review 70:Rooms are very tired and need a refresh. No information on how to get through the gates, no pin code provided. Needed to call them to get the pin Price is excessive for the quality.
Review 71:The receptionists, the location and view of the Mont Saint Michel is breathtaking from our room. The bed room is large with a huge wardrobe.
Review 72:The negatives: - no shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom. There was a bottle, but it was empty. - furniture needs renovation - wifi rather slow - breakfast served only until 10 am (you would expect to have breakfast at least until 11 am) - breakfast ordered to the room was poor. No cold cuts or cheese - overpriced - dinner in the restaurant was normal. Service was good and friendly - no one helped us with the luggage or showed us to the room
Review 73:I'll try to keep it short. We chose the hotel, only because it was the only 4 star hotel near to St. Michel. The positives: - the view from the rooms - the receptionists
Review 74:Too many mosquitos and flies during early October... Everywhere...and the staffs have no ways to prevent. It was really disturbing.
Review 75:Reception is excellent.
Review 76:Check well in advance the tides schedule to view the Mont Saint Michel surrounded by water! The weather can change very quickly! Be prepared (coat, umbrella...)! Arrive at least one hour before midnight! We arrive at 23:57 and we had to pay 4 EUR for the entrance in the neighbourhood of the hotel. They are supposed to close it at midnight.(before midnight the car park is free!). Plus before midnight the Mont Saint Michel is enlightened! Gorgeous!
Review 77:The location, the service, the comfort., the view!!! We liked very much the room!!! We were well welcomed even at our late time arrival! Before midnight the Mont Saint Michel is enlightened! Gorgeous!
Review 78:only the location of the hotel is good. the rooms are very dirty, the bad smell from the bathroom, no AC in the room which is very hot in summer and you cant open the balcony door because of the mosquitos. the breakfast is very expensive and I don't know how they categorise it as a 4 star hotel.
Review 79:Excellent location
Review 80:No opening window in our room, just a door to balcony. Noises from machinery all night. Rooms are tired and need a refresh.
Review 81:Location is the best, uninterrupted views of the Mont. Food was reasonable standard but expensive for what you got.
Review 82:There is no air conditioning in rooms For two days they had a problem of electricity and no hot water in the hotel Even though they didn't say anything about it while we checked in Terrible bad attitude of staff of trying to find a solution to their problem All they said was Je suis desole.... And that was It No electricity in half of the room and no possibility of a hot shower
Review 83:Price is excessive for the quality. This is at most a 3-star facility charging 4-star prices. You are paying for the proximity to Mont St Michel.
Review 84:Proximity to Mont St Michel.
Review 85:Room decoration is a bit outdated. Amenities were nice, but hair dryer was very much outdated, so i would recommend to bring your hair dryer if you are in need of it. Other than that, the view beats the price/old hair dryer.
Review 86:Location is just breathtaking. Worth the price. Restaurant is also very nice with the view and decent quality of food.
Review 87:Bus drivers were not helpful
Review 88:The room was perfect
Review 89:It was really good view
Review 90:Nothing to report
Review 91:Amazing views, nice staff, great stay
Review 92:No internet No soap or shampoo in room Awkward arrival, poor signage One complimentary water in room for two guests!
Review 93:Location was great
Review 94:Bed too small. Not very clean. No ameneties: No soap, no shampoo, nomtoiletries at all. Not enough towels.
Review 95:Location and space.
Review 96:Food and lodging expensive. Other places less expensive and quite nice.
Review 97:The view was excellent. Great location.
Review 98:Service was terrible, not that clean and a total tourist trap.
Review 99:Nothing!!
Review 100:No view on Mont St Michel from the room because of trees.
Review 101:Expensive breakfast. Unable to get a cup of hot tea or coffee when we wanted it.
Review 102:Great location and fantastic view of Mont St Michel.
Review 103:Terrasse was great. Staff were courteous and helpful. Receptionist who greeted us was really helpful
Review 104:Wi-Fi very very poor
Review 105:We could not stop looking at the st michel from our room even at night a real dream coming true
Review 106:Friendly and helpful staff. Great room facilities
Review 107:Coffee for 2euro in room
Review 108:The terrace and view. Comfortable big room.
Review 109:Excellent location and view on MtStMichel from window! Easy to go there on feet and by shattlebus. Good and easy parking
Review 110:The view on the Mont Saint Michel, the excellent room, the restaurant.
Review 111:No aircon in room, but not really needed
Review 112:Food was excellent… view from room was excellent
Review 113:tired old building, noisy air con, overpriced. Recommend looking for a less expensive hotel in the area.
Review 114:not a lot really
Review 115:The location of the hotel is great, specially the view
Review 116:Facility is old and poorly maintained.
Review 117:Location is excellent. The view from the room was breathtaking
Review 118:Wifi doesn' work.
Review 119:View from the room. Mt Saint-Michel is just in front of the room.
Review 120:Wifi connect is very week ... can't connect in room
Review 121:nice view from room, you can see the monte saint michel
Review 122:Entry to Mont St. Michelle is very confusing. Must have a code to get through gate.
Review 123:Room had a great view and terrace.
Review 124:Shabby, run down, dirty balcony, bad staff, overpriced, not luxury, not up to a relais hotel standards.
Review 125:Location
Review 126:Room not very clean...
Review 127:Very nice stuff! Astonished view! Delicious food at the restaurant!
Review 128:No indication of the gate before entering parking
Review 129:View and location Hospitality
Review 130:Hotel needs a revamp
Review 131:Wi-fi didn't work. They were having problems.
Review 132:View from the balcony was wonderful. Sitting and watching was very relaxing
Review 133:no wifi during our visit
Review 134:the view.
Review 135:Nothing
Review 136:We can see MSM from my room. Shuttle is just front of the hotel. Nice room and big.
