Reviews for Les Terrasses Poulard
Review 1:It was rather expensive for what might be a decent 1-2 star experience elsewhere, but you're in the center of an amazing, small place which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It's a reasonable value.
Review 2:We stayed in the annex, l'Ermitage, which is up the hill off of the main street, and it was great. The location was incredible, though you will need to be prepared to climb a lot of stairs both getting to the building, and in the building itself- there's no elevator. You're vacationing on a mountain, so you will expect that. Hotel staff was great. The local infrastructure is very well equipped to handle a *lot* of foreign tourists. In my photo, the building with green shutters is l'Ermitage.
Review 3:The hotel is expensive for what you receive. It was Christmas day - so even more expensive. The restaurant food is good, but inconsistent and suffers from an external kitchen (food is cooked offsite - I suspect at Mere Poulard). This could be a real issue when they're busy. My steak was very nice, but extremely undercooked, so had to be sent back which took a long time (although they were apologetic). The salt lamb was really delicious as was the seafood soup starter and the oysters. Breakfast was patchy in terms of the hot food - but nice selection of meats and cheese. Restaurant has a great sea view, but could use a refurbishment - dinner was like a brightly lit canteen. If you really want ambience, I would pay extra to eat at Mere Poulard.
Review 4:We had the very top floor, so excellent all around views. The bathroom was modern, clean and well appointed which surprised me on the upside. We had asked for single beds, and had three so that was great. The concierge was very friendly and helpful.
Review 5:Friendly and helpful staff who went above and beyond to make our stay great. Superb view and a beautiful room in a magical location. Liked it so much we extended our stay an additional (3rd) night. Can't recommend highly enough. Will definitely be back!
Review 6:Lots & lots & lots of stairs - no on site restaurant - TV didn't work but we weren't bothered by that. Nothing going on in Mont St Michel at that time of year.
Review 7:Clean room, good bathroom. Nice welcome & explanation from check in. Spoke excellent English. Good explanation regarding car parking & facilities. Good view.
Review 8:You need to be fit for the 86 steps from the Grande Rue to the accommodation, 48 more to the top of the property. A fact not a criticism of the accommodation.
Review 9:Perfect location
Review 10:Expensive rubbish food for French standards. Hotel room poorlyequiped/furnished
Review 11:This is a pinacle of lazy tourism. A very pretty village but take it orleave it attitude from hoteliers, shop keepers, restaurateurs
Review 12:no bad experience, however the room has see better days, it is however very clean and the bathroom excellent
Review 13:we were very surprised to have a room with a view over looking the causeway. Wonderful feeling to see looking across the tops other building. It's a must to stay on St Michelle. Room very spacious and clean
Review 14:Our room was in an annex and we had to climb over 160 steps to get to it from the reception. Make sure your room is not in the annex. We were served terrible omelets at La Mere Poulard.
Review 15:Staying inside Mt. St. Michel is good
Review 16:the rooms in the photo were no where to be seen as I peeked into other rooms as they were cleaned.! NO idea what rooms they are showing but they are not what you get. TINY, 1980s decor, vanilla no decor or history feel to them at all. TINY bathroom, tiny everything. noisy as we backed to the outside staircase early morning and suitcase were dragged down the stairs outside. although on the island it was overpriced for what it was. I highly recommend staying ON the island as it was wonderful but might look for another hotel. Our parents stayed at the other main hotel and it was much better and more expensive
Review 17:Hotel oeverated and over priced du to the very touristy place. 2 stars maximum not 3!. Very small room, need renovation, no lift! Very difficult when traveling ith an elder person. Breakfast room in another place 15 minutes away and for 25€!!!
Review 18:location inside the Mt St Michel walls
Review 19:We knew we were going to have to lug our luggage up a lot of steps but at reception we were not told we would need a code to get into our building . Found it on the card, but it was the WRONG #. Back down to desk to get correct # , then back up. That would be 4 flights of stairs X 3 = 12, plus another 3 inside to get to our room. NOT a good way to greet guests!
Review 20:This location is great! With more care to the property and better staff, This could be a great place
Review 21:Beautiful views, nice clean bathroom with a deep tub and a perfect room for 2 friends travelling together! Aubrey, the young man at the front desk, was helpful and extremely polite.
Review 22:No help offered with suitcases and the long flights of stairs to get to the room.
Review 23:LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION If you go to Mt. St. Michel you must stay on Mt. St. Michel.
Review 24:One is willing to forgive that the there are steps to the reception desk from the street. However, having been assigned a 2nd floor room, up a large number of steps on a spiral staircase was not expected. It was made worse by the absence of any offer to help with the luggage. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a bland affair with little service from the staff who hardly managed to cope. In the morning the lack of greeting from the receptionist made for a 'cold' start to the day. At breakfast, one staff person served the entire restaurant, made the food, took orders, cleared tables and so on. We spent time just standing around waiting for food to be replenished. A very sad experience. When we mentioned this at the desk all we got was agreement that it is regrettable that he is on his own.
Review 25:The hotes is one of very few on the Island and this makes it very special. We had a small room with a view of the mud flats and early morning fog as well as the rampart walls so this made it very authentic.
Review 26:We stayed in the annex, Ermitage Hotel. Although we had to lug our luggage up some 70 steps and then 3 floors of the hotel, the location and views made up for it!
Review 27:Poor wifi connection inside the room A bit noise between 23:00~1:00 after everyone had a great time in the bars perhaps
Review 28:Great location Can easily see the sunrise and sunset Special offers at the shops and restaurants Should check-in before go to the shops
Review 29:YOU MUST ENSURE CUSTOMERS ARE MADE AWARE OF PARKING PROCEDURE & GIVEN THE ACCESS CODE. OTHERWISE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE COULD BE RUINED!!!
Review 30:Extra special location and lovely hotel.
Review 31:Connecting to the wifi can be challenging for less tech savvy people. Need to reconnect each time through the browser.
Review 32:Charming old French hotel. Location is excellent.
Review 33:No help from the staff to go up (a long) stairs with luggage, no elevator. A handicaped person is not able to enter the room. No boiler to have a cup of tea. A very humid bathroom, no curtain. A poor view to the sea. Too expensive even with an early reservation.
Review 34:I do not like the hotel's location , many stairs and even small suitcase , access and complicated , the hi fi lousy .
Review 35:Mont saint michel and beautiful, a charming town
Review 36:Only problem was the noise in the morning in the street facing room. It was really bad. The windows did not sound proof the room enough.
Review 37:The location was excellent. The staff was friendly and hotel and room more than met our expectations
Review 38:The Bathroom was inaccettable, small with a shower under the oblique roof imppossible to use. We asked for breakfast they invited to go to the restaurant 2Terrace the Poulard", the stuff over there were unpolite asking 25€ for a breakfast!
Review 39:spectacular view over mt Saint Michel bay.
Review 40:Only one free socket in the room, installed near the door and very high? about 1.5 m over the floor. If you need to charge your phone it will be hanging
Review 41:Did not got the bed type which was agreed.
Review 42:St.Michel is an expensive location, so this Hotel is in line with what is being offered in this spot. The breakfast is offered in a restaurant nearby, which offers nice view of the bay.
Review 43:Our first room was near the street very noisy. Second room was much better. WIFI was only really good in the main building.
Review 44:Great location, friendly staff
Review 45:Reservation had not been registered. A much poorer room, looking straight onto the rocks behind and onto the footpath hundreds of tourists would take in the evening and the next morning, not fitting the initial reservation (2 single beds) was offered instead. When I refused, we got a better room, which seriously wasn't worth 167 Euros !! In the bathroom, the bath tub had neither a shower curtain nor a glass separation (typically French, which resulted in water spraying over onto the walls and floor. The wall paper had become detached at the bottom because of this... The breakfast/brunch at the ridiculous price of 25 Euros is a rip-off. Don't take it - we didn't !!!
Review 46:Only the perfect location on the Mont St Michel - nothing else !
Review 47:WiFi did not work in the room and shower did not have a curtain.
Review 48:I loved staying on the island overnight. The hotel was reasonably priced and the room was comfortable. Some people complained about the musty smell. I did not notice any. To get to the hotel you need to climb a bunch of stairs and there's no elevator in the building. You need to be reasonably fit to stay in this hotel. Pack light.
Review 49:Mont Ste. Michelle is an iconic place, and we were exited with the ability to stay there. The hotel was fine, although too many steps to get to the first floor, plus 3 more flights to the room. My biggest problem was this: you need to park on the mainland. The hotel needs to give you a code to get a parking space. Never received one. Took an hour before a nice lady at the welcome center called the hotel for us to get one, A bus takes you across the causeway and leaves 1/4 mile from the entrance (with all your luggage). When we got to entrance, we saw a bus pull up. I asked the driver, "why not ours??" Answer, "for employees only!!". What will happen if this continues, tourists should stay on the mainland and take the bus over for a day trip. The hotels on the island-- and some of the restaurants (all very good) -- will go out of business.
Review 50:The service, the state of the rooms was Very dissapointing. Mold in room, dirty doors and floors. Rooms need Total overhaul. Restaurant is not even worth the equivelant of a school cafetaria
Review 51:location
Review 52:The price is a bit high (though it is understandable for its unique location in the heart of MCM). The breakfasts are too expensive imho.
Review 53:The location is nice, romantic view from the small (but cozy) balcony. The room is in the perfect condition, clean and comfortable.
Review 54:Poor facility and small room. It is enough to just sleep, but nothing to be expected more.
Review 55:iI is located close to the Cathedral. It takes only 5min! The building is classical, but some might feel it uncomfortable.
Review 56:Room was small, uncomfortable and staff were not friendly. Overpriced and advise staying nearby off-island. Restaurants on the island are marginal. Island is very crowded after 10 am which takes away from the enjoyment.
Review 57:Location is good if you want to stay on the island. Abbey is spectacular and well worth the visit. It is wonderful to walk the causeway towards the island all lit up at night.
Review 58:The restaurant attached to the hotel is not in fact "attached" but some distance away. We eventually found it but also found the staff rude, they were keen to point out that the "menu" wouldn't be available to us at that hour. It appears they thought we were demi pension but remarkably found themselves able to do more when explained we weren't!!
Review 59:The reception staff were very friendly and the restaurant below/ beside the hotel should be checked out as it looked warm and cheery on a cold day and the staff very helpful
Review 60:We had a beautiful view over the bay. The mattress was perfectly firm, the bathroom was large with a shower and separate bath, but most of all the receptionist was very welcoming and approachable, happy to answer any questions and give advice both over the phone before the visit and when we were in the hotel.
Review 61:lots of climbing. fine for us but not for anyone not capable.
Review 62:location on mont st michel is excellent. it's wonderful to stay on the mont so when the hoardes of tourists leave, the evening and morning is just magical.
Review 63:Unfortunately, the photos of the rooms are deceiving. While the pictures were clean and updated, the room we stayed in was dirty and musty smelling, there was mold growing in the closet and there was no AC or it didn't work. I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel.
Review 64:The view of the mount below us and the sea.
Review 65:Our room was street side, and the noise on the street started about 5am. Workers, cleaners, delivery trucks - an incredible amount of noise! It's sweet to have a window that looks down on the street, but you'll regret it if you want to sleep past 5 am.
Review 66:I loved staying on the island after the tour groups are herded off. Watching the sun go down, seeing the lights come on - finally heading up to our little room, then waking up in the midieval village was a great experience!
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:To be able to spend the night on this island was something we will not soon forget. The Abbey and views from the top were breathtaking. View from our room window was also great as were the restaurants and shops.
Review 69:The shower lacked a curtain, making bathing a bit of an adventure. An extremely minor complaint, all things considered.
Review 70:Our room had an amazing view, as well as a ginormous fireplace with lots of character. The staff was helpful and polite, and you can't beat the location. When dining at La Confiance, which is directly below reception, I cannot recommend highly enough a bottle of the rosé cider (cidre rosé). It was the best cider I've had in all of Normandy (Cave Saint-Michel, sold throughout the warren of gift shops).
Review 71:The parking is not free and you have to park literally miles away. Then you have to take the shuttle half-way, only to drag the suitcases another half a mile to the island, and then on up the stone-paved roads to your hotel. In the hotel there is no elevator, and dragging suitcases up the four flights of stairs after dragging them from the bus and then up the walk is not for everyone. If not in perfect shape and have experience carrying suitcases for miles, this is not for you. The lightning is horrid inside the bathroom. 10W light bulb is the only thing that stands between you and poking your eye out in the shower.
Review 72:The place is situated on the island, which is really great.
Review 73:The front desk staff were less than helpful in making suggestions and giving information. They didn't seem to be interested in providing service to the guests. The wifi only worked in the lobby, a fair walk from the room.
Review 74:The view from Mont St Michel back over the Main Street with the Notmandie plains in the background. The location! This place is right in the middle of the magical island!
Review 75:The web says every room with a view of the sea so I booked it .. We were given a street view room .. Not all rooms have a sea view. I have requested a correction to the website. WiFi difficult to work out how to log in. If you manage that it is set to time out or cut out on load I suspect ..
Review 76:Location...

Review 102:Very small room and tiny bathroom. Difficult to take a shower without soaking the floor, wall and door.
