Reviews for Alivi
Review 1:We were surprised restaurant closed at the end of September. However, plenty of alternative options were available.
Review 2:Friendly and helpful receptionist. Rooms have a balcony with a lovely sea view. Clean and comfortable although the hotel is a bit 'tired'. Convenient location walking distance from the centre of Bastia.
Review 3:Walk along the sea front side of the hotel to get to the Restaurent, not overly well lit either Restaurent closes 30 sept so did not book hotel for 1 October return to Bastia
Review 4:Wonderful location, room very good and well laid out and great view of the ocean
Review 5:Only problem was erratic wifi, kept dropping out ( minor point)
Review 6:Beautiful location and views, room was ready despite arrival at 0800 off the ferry from Toulon. Staff friendly, clean, air conditioned, lovely pool, not too busy, easy access to small beach, fridge in room, loved balcony to see sunrise and sunset.
Review 7:The location, the nice room overlooking the sea, nice design, wonderful trees, bushes and flowers, The restaurant Archipel where we could dine out on the terrace with the wonderful sea view and wonderful food recommendedby the Michelin guide for three years in a row
Review 8:the hotel is located outside of town but in an amazing spot right above the water. there is direct access to a pebble beach which is a great location for swimming and snorkeling - we even saw a an octopus! breakfast buffet is very nice too and staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 9:swimming pool not cleaned full of floating dead insects ! could have made a safer walk way to the beach, restaurant only open for 2 hours at lunch therefore unable to get a cold drink anywhere in the hotel ! needs a gardener to dead head flowers and cut back the bramble that you need to climb over to get to the beach ! restaurant staff and cleaners work for themselves and not the hotel guest
Review 10:the weather was good
Review 11:We were disappointed with the Hotel Restaurant facilities. The breakfastat the Hotel was overpriced with the same menu being offered each day -14 Euros P.P.The on-site Restaurant was independent and was definitely expensive for lunchtime and evening meals. The WiFi connection to our room wasn't available - although we asked about the facility. Any WiFi link was within the Reception area only.
Review 12:The Hotel was situated outside Bastia which was quiet and offeredstunning views from the room balconies overlooking the Med. Sea.
Review 13:Would have been great to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast at 15 euros a person was rather pricey.
Review 14:location of the hotel was fabulous, all rooms had excellent sea view and balconies and were oh so quiet. A great hotel for a relaxing by the sea vacation
Review 15:Pool bar was closed during the afternoon (14:00 - 18:00), which was a shame but understandable due to it being only a 3-star hotel.
Review 16:The location, with pool and excellent food. Very good table service by Alfonso!
Review 17:Beach not suitable for bathing, as stony and slippery.
Review 18:Location at the water is great. Walking distance to the city. Phantastic view from the balcony. Proper breakfast. Parking on site
Review 19:Rooms were pretty sparse and the dinner was expensive. Don't remember the breakfast being all that spectacular so would not recommend on that fact alone.
Review 20:View from the rooms was great, pool area nice, safe and secure location. Only a few Kilometers from town/port area and relatively quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 21:The restaurant being closed during our stay. Access can be tricky especially if a private event taking place and parking in driveway
Review 22:Comfortable room with balcony and wonderful sea view - most relaxing
Review 23:Design of rooms can not be considered aesthetically pleasing, especially color of the walls, but that is immaterial and not a defect of our stay
Review 24:The room is spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the sea. The view from the terrace courtyard adjacent to the hotel and the beach is beautiful. On the ground floor where our room was wiiqfi qality was very good. Plenty of parking. Very close to the ferry port and convenient for anyone who lives Bastia by ferry to the mainland. Very good reception service.
Review 25:No complaints. If someone wanted a sandy beach, they might be disappointed.
Review 26:We were booking late and got a special offer at Alivi, which made value for money even better. We got a very nice room, good bed, beautiful view on the sea. Hotel has its own access to the sea, going down steeply leading to rock coast. Above all the staff was very friendly competent and helpful. Of all the 5 hotels we have been to in Korsika and which are in a similar price range Alivi definitely comes out very good, if not best.
Review 27:Breakfast was overpriced, did not try.
Review 28:15 minute walk from ferry port and downtown restaurants. Clean, quiet room. Firm bed, good A/C. Friendly reception. Some English spoken.
Review 29:Railings round swimming pool. Noise from rooms above. Asked for a high floor but did not get it. Restaurant and bar closed as end of season.
Review 30:Sea views.
Review 31:We did not havd s car so it was a bit of a long walk to Bastia town the buses were not running often as it was the shoulder season. I would still go back there corsica is a wonderful place.
Review 32:The views from the rooms and poolside terrace We're amazing The Restsurant was excellent, food very tasty and the waiters were lovely and could speak more than 3 languages
Review 33:Beach is stoney, but was nice for a dip, breakfast not included and would have been 14 euro per person i think, not really a problem but... restaurant looked really nice but opened at 7 or 8pm so we decided to eat in town as it did not suit to hang around
Review 34:The room, the sea view, the little private beach, location suited as we stayed and drove cape corse the morning after we stayed, easy find and plenty of parking when we stayed
Review 35:Internet speed limited too low. Restaurant menu has few choices.
Review 36:Not far from the center of Bastia. Excellent staff, free adequate parking. All rooms have panoramic sea view. Very good breakfast, but pricey. Would recommend and stay again.
Review 37:Long walk from main town with restaurants etc, along very busy road. Expensive restaurant.
Review 38:Huge room. Lovely balcony overlooking the sea. Able to swim.
Review 39:Brown colour scheme and artex finish on walls and ceilings is a little drab. The Wifi was erratic: frequently it was not possible to connect from the room. 2km walk to the old town.
Review 40:The view and the private balcony. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Quiet and peaceful
Review 41:a bit expensive
Review 42:big rooms, very nice sea view from the room, 20 km from the airport, good basis to visit the Cap Corse, nice swimming pool, friendly staff, and good breakfast. The restaurant serve excellent food.
Review 43:price can be a difficulty and it should (!) include breakfast which is extra paid, however not extra quality approx. 2 km to the city (shops and restaurants) made us traveling every day loosing the time we could spend on beach or by the pool restaurant expensive and waitress non-English-speaking :(
Review 44:realy comfortable room with absolutely beautiful and relaxing view it's not one of the huge hotels and the atmosphere is quite cosy nice and helpful hotel staff
Review 45:Little outside of bastia, difficult to get taxi home which meant long walk uphill.
Review 46:Balcony Comfortable spacious room Good breakfast Excellent outside pool and terrace
Review 47:The hotel is just in a 10 minute drive from the harbor in Bastia, perfect for those coming with the ferry. Aircondition, fridge in the rooms, amazing view, great blinds on the terasse door, so no light and noise coming in. Direct access to the see. One would need a 30-40-minute walk to the center.
Review 48:Cracked and missing tiles on floor of (tiny) balcony, paintwork all needed a wash as it was splashed with something white, quite a few squashed mosquitos on walls, the shower door was grimy, whole hotel very drab and claustrophobic - lots of browns with thick white artex everywhere. Asked twice for assistance with getting wifi signal, and receptionist was very unhelpful, telling me that some bedrooms had a better signal than others, so I needed to try different rooms for an improved signal!! Had to give up in the end. Cost the equivalent of £150 pounds, with no breakfast - I really don't think we got value for money. Stayed here because of it's fairly good proximity to airport, for 1 night after 6 nights elsewhere on the island, and was extremely disappointed.
Review 49:The view from the room was wonderful.
Review 50:A little far from the center of town/port.
Review 51:You look down from your private terrace and see the seawaves right below. The hotel is on a cliff directly over the water. Nice pool area with a bar.
Review 52:Marvelous localisation, magnificent see viue. Very, very good restuaration with excellent food.
Review 53:Great view, comfortable beds, great breakfast.
Review 54:A little further out than expected from Bastia. Car necessary.
Review 55:Staff very helpful
Review 56:Relaxing hotel
Review 57:Hotel feels "worn". Few services for the money. Restaurant staff rude.
Review 58:The setting
Review 59:Nothing to report
Review 60:Staff so friendly
Review 61:IT's a bit of a walk to the town (40 minutes to the old port) but looking directly out onto the water makes up for it.
Review 62:Breakfast too expensive Far away from city center
Review 63:Nice view Brand-new room Parking
Review 64:Emergency exits locked!
Review 65:Location good. Right by med - can swim in sea or swimming pool.
Review 66:Close to the city and at the water site.
Review 67:The cost ofthe Taxi from POretta.
Review 68:All at the Hotel, and at Corcega.
Review 69:The staff - all very friendly and efficient. Convenient for buses into Bastia centre. The gardens and pool.
Review 70:Could only get wi-fi near reception
Review 71:Lovely hotel in great location.
Review 72:weather ! (later!)
Review 73:Good location, nice view, staff hotel very nice...
Review 74:Location is a bit far from town (30min walk).
Review 75:Our room had a cute balcony and amazing sea views. The pool was great and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 76:Small bathroom
Review 77:Walking distance to town, nice view of the sea from the rooms, friendly staff, clean, quiet
Review 78:Bathroom outdated and leaking
Review 79:The view on the ocean
Review 80:Lovely hotel, very clean and amazing views. Some of the decor is a little dated but the rooms are nice and big. Very easy to find from the ferry.
Review 81:Nothing.
Review 82:Great location, nice pool, on the beach. Nice, friendly staff, helpful.
Review 83:Breakfast was poor.very expensive for 13euros
Review 84:Good location.nice room.helpful staff
Review 85:Perfect location on the water for a first night in Bastia after getting off the ferry. Clean, comfortable room with a sea view balcony, good breakfast, and wonderful restaurant for dinner. Pool area looked very pleasant and well maintained. Friendly staff.
Review 86:Breakfast wasn't included in the price.
Review 87:If we wanted a room closer to the sea we would have to have been on a boat! waking up with such a beautiful view of the ocean was wonderful.
Review 88:there was no warning about the risk of jelly fish there was no opportunity for sport/ seaside activities
Review 89:the view to the sea restaurant location was closed to Bastia center yet quiete room was simple and clean
Review 90:can't think of anything
Review 91:great seaview room w spacious balcony and unforgettable views; the private cobble beach; the breakfast - not cheap at 15 EUR but the best we've had during our trip
Review 92:It's a little remote, so if you don't have a car, you'd to walk to take a taxi at night.
Review 93:The location was just 2kms outside Bastia, and easily walkable. It was very quiet, with blackout curtains for great sleep. It's right on the edge of the sea, and each room had a sea view and balcony. The bathrooms were very big by French standards, with big luxurious towels, not normal for this rate of hotel. The adjoining restaurant was really good. There's also a neighborhood wood burning pizza place about 1/2 k away, and that was really good as well.
Review 94:There was nothing I disliked.
Review 95:We Only stayed one night at the Alivi hotel prior to returning home to the UK however it was a very enjoyable stay. I thought the standard of the hotel was excellent, lovely view from the bedroom and excellent value for money...I would recommend it. Corinne the reservations manager was very helpful and pleasant.
Review 96:Distance to the city center.
Review 97:The rooms had a superb view on the sea. Accomodation and personnel were excellent. Only minor thing was the distance to the city center.
Review 98:We chose the Alivi for the last night of our holiday as we were getting an early ferry out of Bastia the following morning. The location is very convenient for the Ferry terminal. Initially the hotel looked like it had not been renovated since the 60s (the public areas) although it was very clean. But the bedrooms were very modern and large too. Our room had a magnificent view out over the sea and we had a balcony. The bathroom had not been renovated so was done in a much older style but functioned fine. The pool area of the hotel is quite impressive too. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the centre of Bastia (25 mins) but its an interesting walk so it doesnt feel like it takes that long. We thought the Place de Marche was the best place for restaurants in the evening.
Review 99:We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and after returning from a walk we were told that the restaurant and main bar were closed. There was no other food service in the hotel but they did arrange for a takeaway pizza to be delivered! The reaturant/bar are outside the main building and this seems a little detatched. Certainly the staff here were a bit stuffy and after an uncomfortable drink in the bar we decided to eat elsehere.
Review 100:Seaside location - we had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was only a few metres away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The outdoor swimming pool and seaside bar looked very inviting but we didn't have the weather to enjoy them.
Review 101:It was just a little too far from city for walking in and out easily and public transport was not that frequent. Both of which are outside of the service provided by the Hotel.
Review 102:The staff we always very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and relaxing with the pool and restaurant of a good high standard.
Review 103:The restaurant was only open in the evenings, and it was a little on the expensive side for the type of food it was offering. I would like to have seen more local Corsican produce and specialities on the menu. Parking could be a hassle when the hotel is full. Small parking spaces and not many of them.
Review 104:Alivi was close enough to the main town, Bastia, as well as a good base from which to explore the region (Cap Corse, Cap Florent). It also has sufficient facilities that you could spend a day just relaxing within the complex: swimming pool, beach with waiter service for drinks
Review 105:The balconies have tiled floors and heavy wooden chairs - we were kept awake for a long time while the people above us dragged their chairs around, which seemed to vibrate through the entire room.
Review 106:Excellent deserted beach with direct access from the hotel
Review 107:It is a reasonable walk into Bastia town and even further to a decent beach. You really need to have your own transportation.
Review 108:Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, good facilities.
Review 109:It's a little too far out of Bastia to be a comfortable base forvisiting the city if you're staying for any length of time - it's ahalf-hour walk to the centre of town, which can be tiring when gettinghome late.
Review 110:Our room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful sea view. There wasfree, if not super-fast wifi in the room. A comfortable, pleasantnight's stay.
Review 111:The turning off the road into the hotel drive was very sharp if you were coming from Bastia direction, and was particularly difficult if there was anything coming out at the same time.
Review 112:It was convenient for Bastia, without being in the centre of the city, but we were able to walk down into the city in about 30 minutes for dinner in the evening when we wished. It had excellent views over the Mediterranean, with a balcony almost appearing to hang over the sea. The breakfasts were excellent (especially the fruit), although fairly pricey at 15 Euros per person. The service was also very good; although our demands were not great, they were promptly and efficiently dealt with.
Review 113:Although the room looks new, it actually covers up the old pipe in the toilet which could be the cause of mosquitoes in the room at night. I had about 10 bites during my 3 nights stay. The 15 Euro breakfast was definitely not worth the money.
Review 114:It was only a short drive away from the city centre. If it was warmer, you could walk down to the sea which is just a few steps away from the hotel. Room was spacious and I especially loved the balcony looking out the sea.
Review 115:Very nice location, directly facing the sea. Rooms simple, but spacious and with all one needs on holiday.
Review 116:Great location, close to the city and still quiet. Nice room , good breakfast
Review 117:Wifi was patchy in the rooms and it was overpriced given how dated the rooms are
Review 118:Amazing sea views from our room
Review 119:the parking is a little bit small.
Review 120:the view... fantastic!!!!!
Review 121:The occasional mosquito.
Review 122:Idyllic location and helpful staff.
Review 123:location right by the sea restaurant
Review 124:Room s and restaurant and pool facilities were the bext
Review 125:The outside of the building lacks a bit of charm.
Review 126:The view over the sea direction Elba was fantastic.
Review 127:An unpleasant smell from air vent in toilet
Review 128:Staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 129:Hospitality of all staff; Service & cleaning standards; Views from rooms to Elba;
Review 130:The location of the hotel is perfect. Right next to the sea.
The Fine Print
