Reviews for Villa La Argentina

Review 1:Generally disappointing. Not as it looked on the website - a bit dirty and uncared for. Badly decorated. Plastic protective cover on the bad. Breakfast in crumby modern pavilion to the side. A walk to the town through a not particularly attractive area. Most expensive on our two week holiday and easily the worst.

Review 2:Nice building

Review 3:A delightfully large room in a house of architectural interest, (an Indiano house from late 19th c), it was in pleasant gardens with easy parking and easy access from the autoroute. A short if steep walk to the centre of the lovely town of Luarca was also part of the historic Camino de Santiago.

Review 4:Breakfast could have been better. There is no choice - a plate of ham, cheese and pastries are brought to your table (none of which I eat). There was toast also but only a skewer of fruit (definitely should have been more fruit on offer).

Review 5:Lovely house and garden, pleasant manager.

Review 6:No information in the room about the hotel or its facilities. very often no-one on reception although there was a number to ring to speak to someone. We wanted to know the history of the building but couldn't find it.

Review 7:Very unusual building in an exotic garden.

Review 8:Breakfast was the same each day. You need to be fit to walk into and back to harbourside/town centre

Review 9:The history of the building. Peaceful location. Lovely garden.

Review 10:Woken in the early hours by guests in the room above walking around.

Review 11:Gorgeous building with lovely garden and charming hosts. Fascinating area among several colonial buildings in varying stages of decaying grandeur. A short, but steep walk into town. Worth it for the views.

Review 12:There was nothing we did not like but it is a reasonable trek from the centre of town. If you are elderley and/or have mobility issues you will need to drive into town.

Review 13:The room was great but bear in mind this is not a modern building. Get one of the superior rooms (cannot remember how it was listed) as the glass enclosed balconies are great. This is away from the centre of town so very quiet and peaceful. The gentleman running the hotel during our stay (this is family run and the members of the family take turns in being on duty) could not do enough to help. We only stayed one night as it was a stop-off on our way to Porto and we wished we had stayed a couple of nights more.

Review 14:Drive to harbor area difficult after dark.

Review 15:Easy to find. Historic nature of the property. Helpful and friendly proprietor. Lovely gardens.

Review 16:NOTHING

Review 17:LOVELY HOUSE AND GARDENS

Review 18:Difficult to find

Review 19:Amazing building. Good exercise going down 200 steps to the town

Review 20:The hot tub hadn't been cleaned in at least a week.

Review 21:Beautiful place to stay. Lovely people, lovely establishment, and lovely town.

Review 22:Great ambience, well furnished, elegant, comfortable.

Review 23:Nothing really! Just a good walk into town but not too bad.

Review 24:Fabulous old house. Excellent staff! Lovely breakfast.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:The first class service of the Management

Review 27:Beds v poor quality and sqeaked every time we moved

Review 28:Unique family owned hotel in an Indianos Mansion above Luarca Marina. Worth a visit to view it's splendour. Superb garden with outside sauna facility. Helpful courteous staff owners. Our second visit

Review 29:slightly cramped rooms, a fridge and shaver point would be good

Review 30:The villa and grounds are exquisite, and the management personable, professional and welcoming. It was a real treat staying in such an extraordinary hotel - a privilige to experience this slice of history

Review 31:Noisy bathroom ventilation automatically turned on by the light switch. Therefore you may hear the noise when the guests from adjacent chanbers are using their bathrooms.

Review 32:Wonderful garden. Practical location providing easy access to AP8 and so reaching a multitude of beaches or mountain villages within minutes.

Review 33:Unfortunately our stay was marred by the fact that we were infested with gnats during the night. Had there been air con presumably this would not have happened. It did spoil what could have been our best hotel out of 10 we stayed in during our trip to Northern Spain.

Review 34:Absolutely charming accommodation, set in beautiful grounds. Location good for walking to the harbour for a drink but up hill on the way back. Free parking is a bonus. Sat Nav took us an unconventional way which was a little tricky on a motorbike.

Review 35:Villa La Argentina was full of charm and character and exudes a elegance of bygone years. Absolutely delightful and a wonderful experience. Management was welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. An experience not to be missed!

Review 36:Walking distance from the house to town with many stairs (10-20 mins.) demands good legs.

Review 37:The feeling of old days luxury in a very quiet, fine house. Very nice staff and breakfast. The town of Luarca is relaxed with a lot of restaurants d

Review 38:It's a bit pricy...

Review 39:We liked the style of the place, the decoration and general feeling there... The guy in the reception was super nice, he also served us breakfast and i suppose he had more functions there hehe oh and a beautiful garden!

Review 40:The style of the place is very unique.

Review 41:Excelent service and a very unique Hotel. We forgot something important, and they sent it to us, to our next destination.

Review 42:Wifi didn't reach our bedroom at the top of the house. Frank Ifield andNat King Cole accompanying breakfast.

Review 43:A striking colonial villa tucked away in a corner of an unpromisinghousing estate. Beautifully restored, comfortable, but our bathroom wascramped. Easy free parking, ten minutes' walk downhill into the fishingport of Luarca - much longer coming back!

Review 44:Bit of a climb back from the town but if you had a car it would be no problem at all

Review 45:Lovely large rooms with a very relaxing feel about it I would definitely stay there again when I return to Luarca

Review 46:It is a charming turn of the century (19th) mansion converted into ahotel. The room was big, the bathrooms were modern and the staffcouldn't have been nicer. The entire hotel is furnished with antiquesand original oil paintings, some excellent. The hotel is surrounded by agarden that is like a mini botanical garden, filled with flowers, exotictrees and fruit trees. It has a fair size pool and small gym. The townof Luarca is like a stepping on a time machine and traveling to medievaltimes and the setting is spectacular. The townsfolk are incredibly niceand helpful. It also has two lovely beaches. I would certainlyrecommended to anyone who wants to discover the real Spain.

Review 47:A really beautiful building sitting in it's own extensive grounds with lots of interesting photos about its history and with elegant period furniture. The staff were really friendly, very helpful and available at all times of the day.

Review 48:Breakfast could be better - nothing but bread/cake of various types but they did provide fruit when we asked.

Review 49:A very unusual hotel, beautifully kept with wonderful gardens - you get a real sense of stepping back into an 19th century villa. The pool area, although small, is wonderful. It is very hard to find - we ended up with a policeman directing me reversing down a narrow one way street! Head for Villar, an area above Luarca, rather than going down into the town itself. The wonderful thing is that it is only a lovely 10 minute walk down steps into the town - we didn't move the car at all once we had arrived.

Review 50:Only breakfast available. Little else to critices

Review 51:Pleasant garden with pool, Free off-road parking Querky, memorable decor Several good restaurants, bars & cafes in the port.

Review 52:Lovely old hotel, which was very comfortable. The grounds are lovely.

Review 53:garden

Review 54:no spa

Review 55:Finding the town of Luarca and driving down the crazy road into the harbor. Interesting history.

Review 56:A lovely grand old house

Review 57:nothing

Review 58:Don't bother staying anywhere else in Luarca it's fantastic

Review 59:Breakfast disappointing given cost of stay.

Review 60:Garden and history of the house.

Review 61:Very difficult to locate, directions need significant improvement

Review 62:Whole ambiance

Review 63:Style of building and gardens and safe parking

Review 64:Characterful and atmospheric

Review 65:extraneous hair in the bathroom, meager breakfast

Review 66:Neghbourhood

Review 67:Interior decoration and garden
