Reviews for Hôtel Central Bastia
Review 1:No mini fridge, which is always handy.
Review 2:Bastia has somewhat limited hotel options and most visitors only stay for a day or two and then go to the beach or elsewhere on the island. This was may second visit here and as I visit friends, I stay four or five days and use Bastia as a base. Hotel Central is the perfect place for my base. I had a single room that was possibly the most comfortable and charming little room I've had in quite some time. There is no elevator and no mini fridge in the room (or at least, my room) but I found the place just delightful, complete with a small interior terrace where one can have breakfast. The location is obviously "central" and close to the port and restaurants. Some rooms have heir own balconies. The largest room on the top floor, I am told, is renovated and wonderful. I'd recommend Hotel Central for a night or a week.
Review 3:The building is interesting but very run down. The room was clean, but very small for a junior suite. The balcony could have been nice but had not been cleaned for a long time
Review 4:Staff was really kind and helpful
Review 5:The price was a bit high. More of a lobby or social area might have been fun. The desk clerk didn't speak much English.
Review 6:It's a great room in a great location. I had no trouble booking online for the same night.
Review 7:staff was so rude. we booked a 2 room apartment they gave us a one room apartment and made us pay an extra fee of 25 for the baby.Next morning we forgot the pacifier of our baby in the room and when we came back to collect it they did not want to give it back to us because they could not find the remote control of our rooms tv. so we had to look for the remote ourselves and after we found it in the drawer they only gave us back the pacifier! The room was very loud, directly on the street. the second bed was a uncomfortable sofa. Worst and most unfriendly hotel I stayed in of my life.
Review 8:location
Review 9:The rooms are a bit outdated, but nonetheless, it was an extremely pleasant stay
Review 10:Nice classy hotel. Somewhat outdated but the atmosphere of the hotel is perfect
Review 11:just to be aware that there is no lift ,glad we were on first floor,
Review 12:Staff very responsive and helpful, generous with towels and shower gels as we were travelling light. Very good breakfast to set you up for the day.
Review 13:The hotel is in an excellent location close to all major sites and great access to resteraunts. Each room individually decorated with an authentic French feel. Friendly helpful staff. Room with balcony provided a birds eye view of busy street below, good for watching the world go by.
Review 14:Three suggestions - not criticisms; I think parking would be difficult. A lift would a big bonus for people on the 2nd floor. I would recommend asking for a room at the back, away from the noise of the town-centre street.
Review 15:Very helpful, friendly staff. Room at nthe back of the hotel was very quiet, large enough and quite comfortable. Very convenient location right in the centre of town; very convenient for shops, restaurant and only a 7 mins walk to the ferry port.
Review 16:Parking is definitely a problem. The lack of a lift made hauling a bag and child up to the 5th floor difficult. The information provided by the hotel was also quite limited, but the staff were attentive and helpful.
Review 17:The location was perfect and the facilities, while somewhat limited, were very nice.
Review 18:Great location near town centre. Beautiful old building with lots of character. Twin room quite small with very tasteful decor and cute little balcony.
Review 19:Our room could have had some more mirrors outside the bathroom. We were in the large room with the lounge room.
Review 20:Location was fantastic! Rooms were tastefully decorated. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful.
Review 21:The noice from the street, first the life music (nice!) and then the traffic, the municipal cars, waste transportation... The windows let you live the local life ;-) Still, this is obvious in the city centre :-)
Review 22:Everything in the hotel just perfect :-)
Review 23:Some noise from street. Not all rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans could not cool sufficiently.opening windows let in street noise. But rooms with air conditioning were good!
Review 24:Lovely staff. Every room was different and charming. Lovely little shady garden. Good location.
Review 25:Noise from street (less when we moved rooms). Not all rooms have air conditioning and a ceiling fan doesn't have the same cooling effect!
Review 26:Charming rooms, all different with interesting decoration. Sweet courtyard garden area. Lovely staff.
Review 27:The decor is a bit tired and the bed was against the wall.
Review 28:Everyone was really helpful. We were late for breakfast and for checking out and the staff didn't complain.
Review 29:Noisy fan and very weak air conditioner. Quite noisy during the night due to street cleaning machines etc. Several flights of stairs to negotiate with cases.
Review 30:Excellent location with respect to Genova ferry port and car rental return, however very old world charm. Pleasant and helpful receptionist.
Review 31:Avoid rooms on front of building if you 're a light sleeper! Thought that the breakfast was quite expensive for what it was.
Review 32:Helpful staff and very good location for all aspects of Bastia. My request to be moved to a quieter room was met with a positive response.
Review 33:Great location to city centre, railway station & port. Cool, comfortable room with air con which was a bonus in the hot weather. The small courtyard. Helpful and friendly staff. Old world ambience with modern conveniences.
Review 34:AC didn't work but we were eventually offered another room, after first being offered a fan.
Review 35:Bed was decent compared to other beds we experienced in Corsica
Review 36:Despite having indicated through Booking. Com this was a repeat visit and preferred a front room we were given a small side room which was noisy and so small you could not "swing a cat in it". Toilet was so close to wall you had to sit sideways! Very disappointed in the room provided.
Review 37:Great location with everything within walking distance. First visit 2 weeks before very good.
Review 38:Retains period charm, with modernised, tastefully decorated rooms. Staff very friendly, nice breakfast, delightful small courtyard & winding stair.
Review 39:The only thing that surprised us was the lower tariff advertised in the entrance lobby to the amount we paid for our room
Review 40:The unique furnishings and artwork in each of the rooms gives the hotel a different and special feel. This is facilitated by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Review 41:Marble-glad floors make everything echo - earplugs a must! Regulars get a warm (and again, noisy) welcome, newcomers don't.
Review 42:Charmingly decorated, excellently central. Good, firm bed. CNN
Review 43:We got upgraded to a suite free of charge because there were only twin rooms and not doubles like we'd booked. So we had a fantastic stay! Very central and a nice old building.
Review 44:In high season it may be difficult to park your car nearby.
Review 45:The room and bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was good, but if you stay make sure you have breakfast down stairs in the garden. The location was good for restaurants and central.
Review 46:Be aware that some rooms have air conditioning and some have only ceiling fans (the less expensive rooms). There's no elevator, an all rooms are at least one flight above street level. A very nice reception manager insisted on helping me with my suitcase, though. Cheaper breakfast food can be found moments away in the neighborhood.
Review 47:Very nice staff, and a European version of "shabby chic" style that existed ages before anyone ever dreamed up that name. High ceilings and rooms with lots of quirky character. Easy to walk to all Bastia sights, and parking wasn't a problem (free overnight street parking). Free internet in the lobby.
Review 48:Liked everything about it
Review 49:The location couldn't be better. The décor is very tasteful and suitable for a very old amazing, authentic building. Lots of stairs so wouldn't be suitable for less mobile but helped keep us fit. Had a wonderful well equipped apartment for a week. Bastia ideal as a base for touring north Corsica. Loads of restaurants nearby - spoilt for choice. Highly recommend
Review 50:Had a room with small balcony overlooking the street - very noisy during the night with rubbish bins being emptied and street sweepers in the early hours.
Review 51:Room was very clean and comfortable with lots of character - just lovely - enjoyed the character of the hotel
Review 52:Air conditioning was not working but staff provided fans and offered discount 5th floor with no lift.. Not ideal with lord of luggage
Review 53:Welcoming and attentionate staff Nice and authentic decor in apartment Very comfortable bed
Review 54:this hotel is a gem, it is in good condition, uniquely authentic, we hope they keep it like this forever. in fact several movies has been shot here. it is charming, it is a well kept, with nice facilities. A small hotel with friendly staff. like participating in a french movie - great.
Review 55:parking is tricky, but staff are extremely helpful. no lift which is fine if you have light luggage but wouldn't have liked to carry a large suitcase
Review 56:Nice rooms on the 5th floor. tastefully decorated and good facilities in the rooms. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Lovely personal service.
Review 57:No fridge in the room Broken shower head No hair dryer A bit noisy (next to the streets, we had the building corner room) Quality was not so great for the price
Review 58:Well Situated Clean Reception person was nice
Review 59:We stayed on a Friday - and the hotel was caught just between to outdoor, "mini-rock concerts" in the streets. Well, quite some noise when you have a baby - but, hey - what do you expect when the you stay in the center of a big city on a Friday night?:-)
Review 60:Nice and friendly staff, very central location close to cafees, main streets, Place Nicolas etc.
Review 61:if I have to find one, hotel equipment functional but not very new. Never was a real issue though.
Review 62:Clean, Kind, Location in the very easy center (can walk to port and to trail)
Review 63:Wifi not available in the rooms. Rooms are dark. No air con, but ceiling fan which was decent. Was not what I was expecting and the wifi issue was huge for me. I was told to just go use it in the lobby... Not a very accommodating answer. I tried to cancel my second night after I realized I would not be comfortable in the room and at that point I was offered a personal wifi device. Management would not Refund my second night, but I did not like the hotel at all and left anyway.
Review 64:The location was good. Although they mention short term parking in front so you can drop your luggage, that was not the case. Parking garage is several blocks away. Room was clean.
Review 65:No A/C in the room. My room was at the cafeteria side, I had to keep closed the door and curtains. Room was quite dark.
Review 66:Location is very good Good value for money Helpful staff Fairly clean
Review 67:A great place to stay, all the staff extremely helpful. The room on 5th floor with no lift might not work for everyone, but it was spacious, nicely air conditioned in the hot weather, and with a stylish bathroom. Parking in Bastia is tricky in high season, but just takes a bit of persistence.
Review 68:Bit of confusion on the check out time - it stated 11.30 in the bedroom itself, so we had a nice sleep in and planned to leave by then, but the cleaner came knocking at 11am telling us we had 5 mins to vacate. We were ready anyway so no big deal. Apart from this, all good!
Review 69:Location was great, just off the town square near restaurants, just a short stroll from the train station and ferry terminal. Staff were friendly and spoke good english - happy to assist us. The room was comfortable and everything we needed - shower and bathroom were great.
Review 70:Located in an old six story building the hotel uses only the 1st and 2nd floor. Other floors are apartments (I think). It's probably quite a long time since it's made some major investments in this hotel. Most of it is old and a bit worn. A small and cramped bathroom with lounge doors! No safe. No fridge / minibar. There are balconies in some rooms on the 2nd floor, but we stayed on the 1st floor. Anyway the balconies just overlook a busy street (west) and have no view and little sun. A small lobby - where we, as usual, didn't spent any time - except when we had to have Internet connection. (No internet in the rooms!) .
Review 71:This hotel is very centrally located in Bastia - just a few dozen meters from the main square / Place Saint Nicolas. Some traffic in adjacent roads, but we didn't experience traffic noise as a problem at night. The staff we spoke to understood English and were pleasant and accommodating, but then we only had contact for check-in/check-out.
Review 72:Extremely helpful staff, charming room and great location
Review 73:Proximity to central area
Review 74:A home away from home, helpful staff, nice atmosphere, good rooms and perfect location ?
Review 75:the staff and the accommodation itself
Review 76:kindly personal and this hôtel is very near of the old port and the Napoleon Place
Review 77:Parking difficulty
Review 78:Friendly and helpful staff. Location very central. Very clean.
Review 79:Great character. Excellent location. Enhanced our stay in Bastia
Review 80:Room on fourth floor with no lift.
Review 81:Comfortable bed, right in the middle of town, lovely ensuite with bath on return stay
Review 82:Great location
Review 83:Pretty courtyard garden. Big selection of (French) books to read/borrow (I assume)
Review 84:Excellent location. Helpful staff. Very clean rooms. Sheets and towels changed every day.
Review 85:Would prefer more choice at breakfast.
Review 86:Pleasant room with all facilities needed. Very central location yet not noisy.

Review 103:Very central but on a quiet side street.
Review 104:Old-fashioned, original, lovely and comfortable. Adorable breakfast grotto.
Review 105:Great location and cute place
Review 106:it's a really charming place. And they have a fan (at the ceiling) - which is so much better than A/C...
Review 107:Good location, ambience something like hotels in Havana, very close to the port and its ok for one night stay
Review 108:No air condition
Review 109:Spacious rooms, very nice hotel, lovely inner courtyard for breakfast.

Review 116:Nothing. It was lovely.
Review 117:The locality, the very 'Frenchness' of it, the balcony overlooking the street, the staff.
Review 118:Location, Comfy bed
