Reviews for L'Augeval - Hôtel de Charme
Review 1:There was no hot water for the duration of the visit. This was between Christmas and New Year, but the staff (although courteous) did not seem to have any contingency plans beyond offering us a free breakfast.
Review 2:For the amount paid per night (£232) THIS hotel is not good value for money. The room was not well furnished, the corridor was tatty and there was no safe in the room. The shower in the bath was HAND HELD only. NO COFFEE OR TEA MAKING FACILITIES IN THE ROOM
Review 3:LOCATION EXCELLENT COULD BE A FANTASTIC HOTEL BUT NEEDS SOME MONEY SPENT ON IT.
Review 4:Initially allocated the wrong room, but these things happen. Got sorted very quickly.
Review 5:charming ambience of this hotel in an old house so very typical for the area. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 6:That it's 6000 miles away from me! I would go back in a heartbeat!
Review 7:We were on the back side of the property overlooking the many stalls of show/race horses. Each morning I was entertained by their feeding, cool downs and the trainers. The staff were very friendly and were willing to work with me on my very limited French.
Review 8:We thought breakfast was too expensive. It was also frenetic in the breakfast room when guests were queuing for the buffet.
Review 9:The location of the hotel. Pool was welcome. Liked the chateau style building.
Review 10:only the weather, freezing and cold, there was nothing we could not like about the hotel
Review 11:spot on place, elegant and charming as the name implies. The stables were interesting addition to the view
Review 12:Upon arrival the concierge criticized me for not speaking French and said if he can take the time to speak my language I should take the trouble to understand his!!!!
Review 13:Decor Pool area Room Bed comfort Lovely bathroom
Review 14:Cost of parking and breakfast was not included in what was quite an expensive stay
Review 15:Position and hotel staff prepared to meet our individual requirements regarding the rooms
Review 16:Thought there would be a comfortable bar with a pool table . This wasn't the case the table was in a room on another floor.. Internet can give wrong impression . Landing between rooms carpet was stained ..
Review 17:Room was clean .
Review 18:Liked everything
Review 19:The hotel was lovely the location was great, the staff all of the staffwere fantastic they could not have been more pleasant of helpful, nothing was too much trouble, including arranging a special earlybreakfast for us on the day of departure. The facilities were good muchbetter than we expected, and our room overlooking the stables was a goodsize including a spa bath, balcony with views of stables and the racecourse. Everything was spotless. Great value for money and wouldstrongly recommend and will definitely go again ourselves
Review 20:Man with beard on reception was extremely rude and unprofessional. The rooms are noisy being opposite a church with bells ringing. You need to pay separately for using the sauna or steam room, this is ridiculous. Rooms are dated and need upgrading and the location is good but not great. I wouldn't go back for sure, you can get better value for money and the staff are disgustingly rude.
Review 21:The free wifi
Review 22:The weather wasn't brilliant - but the hotel couldn't help that!!
Review 23:Excellent location, just a short walk from the centre and all amenities. Lovely room overlooking the stables - which afforded plenty of free entertainment! Also, the buffet breakfast was well up to the mark. All told, a smashing hotel for that short break.
Review 24:Towels could have been softer and bigger
Review 25:Gives you a good feel of the charm of deauville excellent atmosphere charming people warm and inviting very comfortable spa was lovely great break fast excellent value for money great restaurants 15 mint walk ! Will love to return back
Review 26:We had a ground floor room with disabled access. The family room had a door across so that the children could go to bed early, but technically in the same room. Good breakfast and friendly helpful staff,.
Review 27:This is not a hotel it is bed and breakfast ...games room was damp with broken darts and poor pool table, they is no restaurant..!!!!!!!!! And the bar is 2 ft long!!!! All of the things there say are in the hotel are not they are down the road!!!!
Review 28:The room was very dark on arrival and not very appealing, however it was better with all the lights on -even if one of the bedside lights was hanging off the wall! There was no air conditioning and it was very warm at night so the patio had to be left open, leaving us feel a little vulnerable. Deauville is a fantastic and high class resort so hotels are expensive so too are the drinks €9 for a Jack Daniels !!!
Review 29:Great location, English speaking staff and spa bath in the room.
Review 30:Our room had no air conditioning which you would expect for the price ofthe room and quite hot in July. Children jumping in the pool and makingswimming almost impossible. Would expect the direction to give cleardirectives to parents.
Review 31:The hotel is a beautiful house in a good walking distance to the beachand the center and has a pleasant outdoor swimming pool. The room wasquiet with a little balcony and view to horse stalls. If you like horsesyou will enjoy the morning rituals especially before a horse race aswell as a light horse smell. Breakfast was ok, fruits not from the day.Staff very friendly and helpful. Good restaurants recommendation.
Review 32:Nothing, as I was unable to go as I was ill and they refused to return the money from my credit card which was for 3 nights and two bedrooms!! even with a Doctors certificate I Will certainly never recommend to my many racing friends to stay there for Deauville. Lady Agnew-Somerville
Review 33:They are quite the nastyest hotel they took an up front payment and even though I sent them a doctors certificate to say I had had a burst appendix! They refused to give me back my money, Which I consider quite appaling they suggested I came another time I was Travelling with an old American friend of 85 who is unlikely to make it back to Europe another year, and I was in no fit state to travel to France till after she had returned to America. I asked my French living Niece to ring and explain and they were just rude to her!

Review 45:lower floor, and room a little drab and dated for the cost.
Review 46:Close to racecourse, Staff very helpful. Nice breakfast.

Review 51:Location and ambiance Hotel competitive for the town
Review 52:Our room had charm but no place to put anything.
Review 53:Location was good. Quiet but in walking distance of everything.
Review 54:The hotel is in a quiet location yet not far from the town centre or the beach
Review 55:Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful and responsive to our needs.

Review 57:Very good breakfast Room with balcony Service Kindness Silence
Review 58:Unusually long list of guest regulations were a little off-putting. Lack of upright shower.

Review 64:The bathroom had a distinctly damp smell.
Review 65:The location was good and the accommodation good.
Review 66:no fixture for holding shower therefore could not be used as a standup shower air con?
Review 67:staff, pool public areas, bed bathroom
Review 68:We stayed one night and had whirlpool bath. If we'd been there longer, a shower would have been preferable.
Review 69:Most staff friendly and helpfull.
Review 70:room was a little small
Review 71:Staff was friendly, helpful, welcoming.
Review 72:I was sorry the hotel wasn't closer into town - my fault, I hadn't noticed that when I booked it.
Review 73:The hotel was excellent, I can't fault it. The staff were efficient, quiet and charming.
Review 74:Hotel was extremely quite for us as young couple but definitely suited to a relaxing break.
Review 75:Staff were excellent, checked-in a night early without issue and provided everything I needed. The view of stables from balcony in morning was also beautiful to wake up to.
Review 76:I would have liked breakfast to have been included, considering the price!
Review 77:Fantastic hotel. We stayed for 4 nights as we were exhibiting at the World Perfumery Congress at the CID. The hotel was excellently located - on a quiet street, but only 10 minutes walk from the CID, beach and shops. Some great restaurants nearby as well. The rooms were large and comfortable and the small, beautifully heated pool was the absolute jewel in the crown - in just the right spot to enjoy the early evening sun and a drink from the aperitif trolley. Overall, a lovely friendly hotel which exceeded all expectations. Bravo!
Review 78:the room was a bit small and the decoration not very new but this did not matter to us
Review 79:Very helpful staff, lovely terrasse to relax and have a drink and lovely restaurant on the corner of the street. Easy parking !
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:I am a regular to Deauville. Its a small town and everything is walkable. This hotel is well positioned for both the racecourse and the centre of town. Furthermore, its the best hotel in this price range in terms of facilities, size of room and general decor.
Review 82:The bathroom is small for a superior room Just a few towels and no more ... poor service ( you should have asked before ...) The rooms are really smaller than what you can see on the site. We felt very disappointed poor value for money
Review 83:the location is quiet
Review 84:Wonderful hotel, 10 minutes from the beach. The hotel is located in the ancient building, there is wonderful garden around the main building and a small swimming pool with warm water. The rooms are very comfortable with small balconies. The breakfasts exceed all expectations. We stayed for 5 days and didn't manage to taste everything. The breakfast is served in the dining room and also in the garden. The overall atmosphere is very friendly, relaxing and quite luxurious. The best hotel we have ever stayed in.
Review 85:Mini bar could have been colder, but miner problem as ice was available from reception. shower didn't work but again - miner problem as Jacuzzi bath was lovely.
Review 86:fabulous ground floor room with direct access to pool area. recommend near by restaruant Le Garage for steak and sea food
Review 87:The smell of smoke in our bedroom (room 101) Dirty curtains Old dirty towels Hotel inside is very shabby
Review 88:The outside of the hotel is pretty Location perfect for Sales & Racing
Review 89:The gym was in a room which was sometimes used for massage treatments so not always available and only had a few exercise machines and no free weights.
Review 90:Comfortable hotel and spotlessly clean. A lovely small pool at the front of the hotel which was heated. Good breakfasts.
Review 91:Haven't noticed
Review 92:Location (5 min to the ocean), breakfast (not really french rather than continental), room (superior balneo), adjacent area, the building itself were great. The stuff welcoming and supportive.
Review 93:Sauna costs 45€ and is not for free, further turkish bath 90€,information either from the hotel or in booking is not inline regardingthe description
Review 94:Very high quality for a 3 stars hotel
Review 95:Breakfast did not officially start until 8AM. 7AM was what I needed. The staff accomodated our request, but it would have been better to walk into a fully prepared breakfast setup.
Review 96:Staff
Review 97:The service was excellent. The hotel is very nice for a week end getaway. Great position near the hippodrome which is why we chose it. We will definitely stay there again.
Review 98:The decor in our room was rather tired and dated. This was obviously once a very glamorous hotel but now requires an update/re-furbishment - the sofa in our room was quite severely damaged and probably needs to be replaced or re-covered. The choice of tv stations was somewhat limited for English-speaking visitors and the provision of a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities would have been appreciated. The hotel has a charming restaurant, but evening meals are not served although they can be served in your room. This seems rather odd. The meal which we ordered was unexceptional but inexpensive. I do feel that with some investment and a few tweaks this hotel could be really quite special and improve it's star-rating as a result.
Review 99:Convenient location, beautiful architecture, pleasant room with balcony and "interesting" views (we overlooked a local stable) complete with horses, a goat and numerous pigeons. Plenty of storage, nice bathroom and separate toilet facilities. Quality bedlinen changed daily. Tea delivered to room bang on time and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and the hotel does represent good value for the quality of accommodation.
Review 100:not really a dislike but you should be aware that stables back onto the hotel and so you get to hear a lot of hrose warming up for 15mins at 6 in the morning.
Review 101:Very pretty and well located hotel. staff very accomodating and helpful. would stay again. easy parking and easy walk into town, race course etc..
Review 102:The pool for me was a litlle to small
Review 103:Very well located, friendly staff, good room, the staff makes a real good effort to make the guests happy, the food they serve is excellent nothing bad to say about this charming litlle hotel.
Review 104:The young guy who showed us to ourr roomwas polite y but we didn'treceive any info about any facilities available to us. Our room wascharming and clean but well away from the front of the hotel so we feltvery remote and left to our own devices.14 euros for breakfast was far too much. Still a lovely little hotel but receptionist very formal and not particulary friendly.
Review 105:Didnt know till checking out that there was a pool table. My boys love playing pool.
Review 106:Loved the authentic french style. Antiques very nice. Liked the balcony and the pool.
Review 107:Quite pricey but I guess so is Deauville and France generally.
Review 108:The hotel suits its name and is Charming. You will like the view andchurch bells nearby. Area around is very nice. Didn't notice anydrawbacks really.
Review 109:* No airco in the room
Review 110:We had a very nice 3-night stay in L'Augeval. The room under the roof503 was large enough for 2, quiet, jacuzzi and an interesting view overthe "manege" with all the running horses. They are awake around 5 am andso were we the first night ;) It is a short walk to the shops andcasino+beach. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, the weather wassuper so we preferred ( for the same price or less) to eat outside atthe beach or citycenter on a nice terrace. On saturday there was a smallmarket in front af the hotel "antique+ brocante". There is a lot ofparking space (free) in front of the hotel around the church. Internetwifi code changed every day...why? Personel was helpfull and friendly,we did not have a lot of contact because we were always visiting. Werealy enjoyed staying in L'Augeval.
Review 111:Few more sunbeds by pool.
Review 112:Excellent location. Super-friendly staff who were happy to assist in English. Good breakfast. Very comfortable and clean. Great swimming pool.
Review 113:The gym is not a gym; it is a small room with a few pieces of out ofdate equipment. The restaurant was closed although trhis was not madeclear at the time of booking. The breakfast is very expensiveconsidering the cost of the rooms. There are insufficient power socketsin the room.
Review 114:Bathroom too small ! No shower and no way to stand ın the bathtube as the roof ıs too low. Prıce too hıgh.
Review 115:Nıce staf. Good locatıon. Grear breakfast.v
Review 116:We guess this hotel is 3 stars only as the reception is off by night, but not a real issue (secure access overnight allows anytime night out)
Review 117:4 stars feeling for a fair price
Review 118:Staff exceptionally helpful, much appreciated.
Review 119:Rather expensive Breakfast buffet could be more extended
Review 120:Excellent location
Review 121:Bit of refreshment for the bathroom is due.
Review 122:Truly charming.
Review 123:The room was comfortable but would have been nice to have a shower in the room.
Review 124:I liked the location of the hotel and the staff were very helpful.
Review 125:Expensive and uninspiring breakfast. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 126:Decor, ambience and location.

Review 128:location, friendly staff, overall comfortable.
Review 129:No business centre
