Reviews for Gite le Belvedere
Review 1:Very helpfull, friendly and english speaking staff. Great atmosphere - laid back and comfy - Only 4 people in the "gite" rooms. Other places/Gites in the main city, can some times squeeze in 18 people, in one big room.
Review 2:Don't think there was much more I could ask for!
Review 3:Everything is pretty much perfect! Excellent value for money, lovely staff, really nothing too much trouble. Ben will give you advice on whatever it is you want to do, the best skiing, hiking, where to go for a drink, where to rent skis etc. Dinner was perfect after a long cold day on the mountain, and very good value for round here.
Review 4:There was this Czech guy that was staying at the hostel for a long time apparently because he is training. He was really really strange and creepy
Review 5:Nicely priced and pretty cool vibe also you get a discount on Ski hire. The staff are pretty cool too
Review 6:There is no refrigerator, tv, good wifi, no microwave unless you ask the manager and if he happens to be around then you can use it for a bit. Bathroom and shower is shared and check out is not organized. Coming into the room 3 hours prior to check out. It would of being nice to knock on the door first to make sure is empty. There is no room service. Bring your own personal items. Also, be aware that rooms could be shared with other people without notification.
Review 7:I like that you can save money if that is your purpose and it is very close to the mountains and close to little shoppes
Review 8:Everything was amazing from day one. The staff and owners were all so friendly and welcoming and instantly made me feel right at home. Dinner was always great, well presented and nutritional. Nothing bad to say about this place , would recommend it to anyone travelling here especially if it's your first time to the French alps. It definitely will not be the last for me.
Review 9:There is nothing bad to say.
Review 10:The owner and staff did everything possible to make me feel at home, including: eating together, going for a drink and offering to go skiing together. The hotel was in a great location a few minutes walk from the Argentiere lifts. The evening meals were good value and good quality.
Review 11:In our room we could hear the outside traffic can from 6 a.m. I definitely reccomand ears plugs.
Review 12:We truly appreciated the spirit of the host, Ben is an amazing guy. We had guided us in choosing some really hike trails.
Review 13:The showers are a bit funky. Instead of simply opening the water you have to push a button which starts a stream that ends after ~30 seconds, and then you have to push again...
Review 14:Great staff, great atmosphere, very inexpensive and ENGLISH SPEAKING!
Review 15:Sorry to say, I almost certainly acquired a colony of "no-see'm" biting insects that grew over the next couple days to leave me scratching scores of bites down the back sides of my arms and torso instead of sleeping.
Review 16:The concierge and the company I encountered.
Review 17:Shower usage is not convenient, would be better to use a handle
Review 18:Ben - the kind and helpful owner helped us and allowed to check in very early. The place was clean and on the main street of Argentiere.
Review 19:I wish would have been more modern. It looked more like a mountain hut. Ok for a backpacker but If I were to go with the family I'd choose a hotel. the basement room was a bit cold and dump.
Review 20:-close to bus and train station -close to supermarket -luggage storage -friendly and English speaking owner -reasonable price for Chamonix valley.
Review 21:Everything that you need for an outdoor vacation in the Chamonix Valley and nothing that you don't. In an expensive area this is a bargain. Welcoming, relaxed helpful and efficient manager who speaks English like a native. This is an older building with original features that has been sensitively restored. Instead of slick hotel anonymity you get informality and little touches like flowers in the room which make you feel more human. Walks almost from the door, a telpherique 7 minutes walk away and a cycle hire place (untested) a 5 minute walk away. Some people have commented on noise issues, but I didn't notice any. However this may be because I was staying off peak, when the gite was less than full. You get a pass which enables you to travel on the trains and local buses without charge. And no, I'm not related to the owners! Handy for the tour de Mont Blanc and the Haute route to Zermatt as well as local walks.
Review 22:A great atmosphere and good facilities, ideal as a base for outdoor activities in the Chamonix area. Good food. Positive tone set by the proprietor Ben.
Review 23:Climbing 2 flights of stairs at the end of an exhausting week on the MBT. No, seriously, nothing.
Review 24:The welcome and chatting with the staff about mountaineering and off'piste skiing. We had a double room on the 2nd floor with private bathroom.
Review 25:Breakfast was poor, so we had to buy additional hot sandwiches
Review 26:Location - 10 minutes by car to Chamonix and MontBlanc lifts, great host, cosy room (we have the one with privat bathroom), marvellous view
Review 27:Nothing really, could have been a bit cleaner but it's not fair to compare accom this cheap with hotels you would pay 3-4 times as much for.
Review 28:Very warm welcome and excellent attitude of staff.
Review 29:I was doing TMB and I had a lot of questions and things to ask about. The manager - Ben - helped me with everything. The room had am amazing view on Mont Blanc. Everything was clean and nice. And I liked my breakfast. Thanks for the perfect stay!
Review 30:If you don't have a car, getting to Chamonix takes a little time. Shower water stops every 2 min.
Review 31:I booked 3 nights and used only one night because I was able to come down early from Mont Blanc. And they only charged me one night. Nice breakfast.
Review 32:Check in took some time... Cleanliness was above average relative to dormitories, but still not comparable for a hotel. Single toilets and shower for 3 rooms sounds not enough, but as rooms were not fully occupied it was really ok.
Review 33:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but more than what we expect it to be.
Review 34:Bit away from town...
Review 35:The staffs are really nice the facilities are good. The location is good Mountain view through the windows. the small balcony is perfect for an evening chit chats...
Review 36:Location is good for the town but not close to Chamonix. You should have a car.
Review 37:Very clean and cosy. The owner is from England so no worry if you can't speak French. The bunk bed is high so you can sit on the bed without your head hitting the bed above.
Review 38:Ben and his staff were really friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good location for the Aiguilles Rouges / Le Tour in summer, Grands Montets in winter. Wifi works well, rooms quiet and comfortable. Great value for money, and above all a friendly welcome.
Review 39:- Sometimes toilet paper was missing. - Wifi signal was very weak in the room. - Didn't like the showers so much. - Breakfast was ok, but lacked bread.
Review 40:+ Good atmosphere. + Very nice host!
Review 41:I stayed for 4 nights in the gite with my girlfriend and we both found the accomodation perfect for what we needed. The place was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and made or stay that more enjoyable. Should I visit again I would be more than happy to stay again.
Review 42:En-suite bathroom shower had a 5-second presser to control the water. Saved water due to my frustration more than cutting down on unused water. Didn't get to enjoy offered meals due to low inter-season occupancy. Not their fault, just unlucky/unfortunate.
Review 43:Friendly staff, rustic feel, good value.
Review 44:There was nothing I did not like. It fully met my expectation for a simple Bed & Breakfast.
Review 45:Very friendly and helpful staff, even though they are only on site part of the day.
Review 46:Linens and towels not included but you can pay additional for the linen to be added for your stay - booking.com does not make that known when booking but the owner will contact you to get it sorted before you arrive.
Review 47:We stayed at Belvedere for 2 nights - the owner was lovely, very accommodating and always available. Very good with tips on hiking nearby. We got a complimentary upgrade to a room with our own bathroom which was lovely as well. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and there is a bus stop as well that can take you to Chamonix in about 10-15 minutes. Breakfast is offered for an additional cost, but here is free tea and coffee always set out to enjoy.
Review 48:Need to rent the bedsheet Need for snow chain on the car Room a bit cold
Review 49:Argentiere village, more authentic Very cosy atmosphere 15 minutes from chamonix centre 200m higher than chamonix centre, so more snow.
Review 50:Cold, forgot towels, prepared breakfast we had not reserved, only working hot shower on third floor (we were on ground level), bad smell from bathroom on our floor
Review 51:Convenient, cheap, pet friendly
