Reviews for Le Mouton Blanc

Review 1:There was no food or beverage option on the room, no refrigerator to supply us with anything. At least during the winter season, every restaurant on the Mount Saint Michel closes really early and there is no grocery shop too. One day we had to stay without dinner, consequently we stayed hours without eating anything. because we were not aware of these conditions. The waiter of the hotel restaurant was taking care of the reception at the moment we were looking for food. But he said that he had closed the cashier so he could not sell us anything at 10 pm even a bottle of juice or water. That was very frustrating. About the building, I think the entire building needs acoustics improvements, I do not know if this is possible because it might be a very old and historic building. And about the room, I think the bathroom needs improvements.

Review 2:Official receptionist is very pleasant and willing to help. The room is good sized and it is comfortable. The mount Saint Michel is an incredible and a magic place, the hotel is very well located. It was an amazing experience to go there.

Review 3:Terrible wifi connection. Restaurant food was just ok. While understandably the building is old there is no need for the poor condition of the bathroom with its peeling ceiling and black mold. Hard bed not a double just two singles pushed together.

Review 4:Great location and friendly staff.

Review 5:Make sure you don't take to much luggage with you, because you'll have to walk a few hundred meters up the steep hill and on a boulder pavement.

Review 6:Great location! Great view from 2 windows (the Abbey and the sea)! Great value! (we paid less than 70 eur - thanks to low-season) Unfortunately, we didn't sea the high tide. But the hotel was great! We didn't want to have breakfast for 17 eur and went out to look for some crepes in the morning, but this was a mistake. We paid around 26 eur for less than decent crepes and bad coffee. But we were lucky to go to The Abbey first thing in the morning and walked around it in full solitude - this was breathtaking!

Review 7:The food was terrible and offensively overpriced. Most people didn't finish their meals and after talking with other travelers we came to the conclusion that the poor quality and comically overpriced meals were unavoidable because of the location (there's nowhere else to go). We felt taken advantage of. We would recommend packing a lunch and not staying overnight like we did.

Review 8:The location.

Review 9:There is not much to do on the Mont itself in the winter time. Our room was very small for the price paid. It would have been a better value if breakfast had been included in the cost.

Review 10:Staying on the Mont gives you the opportunity to explore the area later in the evening and early in the morning without the crowds. Attending vespers at the Abbey was awe inspiring. Touring the Abbey was like taking a step back in time. I would recommend going early and renting the audio self guided tour.

Review 11:Got to the hotel was very hungry. Was told the bar restaurant wouldn't be open until 7pm. However the bar restaurant was full of Japanese at 6 pm? ??,;

Review 12:Staff were pleasant and the room was warm

Review 13:WiFi was nonexistent. We were told there were two wifi systems we could access (no password). Neither would even connect in our room and not even in common areas (breakfast room, lobby, restaurant, etc.) Disappointing that it was advertised but didn't work anywhere. Beds were also small but we knew that when we booked.

Review 14:Great location. Excellent breakfast included.

Review 15:The location was PERFECT. As we come onto the island, we were all tired and there it was almost first thing. People great and helpful, dinning room - good food, and value. I hadn't quite anticipated so many stairs to our rooms. In my 70's and poor health, stairs can be troublesome for me. Yet, I did amazingly make it to the top of the cathedral!!! ...with the help of my son and daughter-in-law.

Review 16:The accommodation was a bit dated. There was no hair dryer.

Review 17:Location was excellent, it was good to stay close to the abbey and to hear the bells ringing. The breakfast was good value.

Review 18:The TV signal in the room was poor- but this was not why we visited so really doesn't matter

Review 19:Lovely welcome from the lady on the desk. The hotel is full of character and in the perfect location! :)

Review 20:Room was noisy, but you have to understand that it is not a modern facility.

Review 21:Super location on the island. Nice charming authentic hotel from the old ages.

Review 22:in general prices on MCM are higher than average

Review 23:great location, 2 windows: view to the abbey and to the sea bottle of water & toilettries are included good value (got the room on deal) good breakfast (price is average for MCM)

Review 24:Food only average.Room a little noisy as one wall was against the stairway from reception (no lift) to the accommodation.

Review 25:Staying ON Mont St Michel. Value for money is good by comparison with others on Mont St Michel. It is also very cool to be there after the busloads depart for the evening.taying

Review 26:Very expensive for this kind of hotel. If you want to sleep at Saint Michel, one night is enough. You better stay at the continent, you pay less and at night you can have more things to do.

Review 27:Localization its the only thing nice in this hotel

Review 28:The room we initially got.

Review 29:The duty manager Kevin was excellent. The buffet breakfast was good but expensive. Location of hotel. The room we eventually got

Review 30:Difficult to access island with luggage, hotel is primitive (not unexpected), tiny, dark, and noisy. The room was poorly furnished and cramped. Hallways were unlit, with vacuum and electric cords left laying on floor. Staff were not helpful. Free internet advertised did not work in room, and difficult to find an area where we could use it. The street noise which started pre-dawn was unbearable. We were so unhappy, we cancelled our second night.

Review 31:It was an interesting experience to stay right at le mont san michel. We had a wonderful dinner at le mere nearby.

Review 32:The breakfast offered was overpriced. The hotel restaurant was only fair.

Review 33:It was located in the heart of Mont St. Michele. It was very rustic. The bed was comfortable.

Review 34:Although the breakfast was fine, the person responsible for setting tables, etc. seemed very disorganized.

Review 35:The lady who greeted me at the desk was wonderful and extremely helpful, making extra efforts to resolve some small problems with my room.

Review 36:steep stairs if that is a problem for you ... we managed; and most restaurants close when the tour busses leave ... or they are closed from 5-7pm, so it was a bit difficult to find dinner earlier. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again for its location and price.

Review 37:We stayed in the annex rooms while our other friends stayed in the main hotel. The location of being on the island was perfect. The room in the main building was up steep narrow stairs; our room in the annex was up steep narrow stairs but our room was larger. The staff was super good about helping my cousin with his rolling walker and although we didn't eat in their restaurant, it looked good. This is my 2nd time staying in the annex and I would recommend it again ... only perhaps get a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor over looking the cemetery for a more quiet venue.

Review 38:Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The bed was very comfortable and well deserved after a long day exploring the amazing sites.

Review 39:The wifi was terrible. We needed it to book future parts of our trip and it was really intermittent. Poor at best. Shower was like a telephone booth also, small and water went everywhere.

Review 40:Staff where great and very friendly. Location is amazing, right in the heart of Mont Saint Michel. Good restaurant also.

Review 41:There were bed bugs in the bed.Bites showed up after I left the hotel. I complained to the hotel on four occasions and was told management would get back to me.A month later and I haven't heard a thing. Very poor!!

Review 42:Location was convenient.

Review 43:Staying on the island allows you to explore after the majority of the tourists are gone and before they arrive the next day. The shuttle is convenient, but don't bring all your luggage! Only bring what you need, if possible, as walking up cobble stone with luggage is a pain.

Review 44:Our room was very noisy early in the morning when supplies are being delivered up the Grande Rue. The wifi was inconsistent.

Review 45:Helpful and friendly staff in the hotel and the restaurant. Comfortable room in an authentic old world hotel.

Review 46:It is very touristy and can lose dome of its magic if you were just visiting for the day. Staying the night makes it better.

Review 47:The ability to tour the mont after the crowds had gone was excellent and to get up in the morning to be alone was atmospheric. Watching the hustle and bustle of the Grand Rue from your bed room window is unbeatable.

Review 48:First night had a room overlooking the street which was noisy. But all the hotels there faced the only street. Ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

Review 49:On Mont Saint Michel.

Review 50:Extremely noisy: noisy people passing by until well after 12AM, garbage collection and deliveries very early in the morning (as early as 5AM).

Review 51:Staff was accommodating when we decided to only stay one night instead of two because of the street noise both at night and in the morning.

Review 52:The room we were allocated was for three people and was a tight fit. This being such an historic building I did not expect it to be like a modern hotel room and it certainly had some lovely historic features but the overcrowding did cause some frustration. The bathroom light when using the bathroom at night woke my husband as it shone directly in his face in bed. This is because the bathroom is so close to the bed and in fact our bags on the box at the end of the bed had to be moved slightly to open the bathroom door. We could ourselves stepping over our bags to move around the room. Maybe for fewer people it would be more suitable. The Wifi was patchy but we have found this in other places in Europe as well. Also the staircases are narrow but again due to the historic nature of the building. However lighting on the staircases could be improved as you had to turn the timed light on and if it went out or you couldn't find the switch the stairs could be very dangerous especially on the the upper floor staircase.

Review 53:The room had some original historic features. The hotel is in a very good position on the island. The staff were all helpful and the breakfasts were nice with good variety.

Review 54:The dinner was very average and was accompanied by at least 6 flies at a time. Why can't unairconditioned places install fly screens? 17€ expensive for breakfast!

Review 55:Kevin,at the front desk, was extremely helpful in answering all questions as well as being cheerful when handling 4 different aspects of his position at once. Most impressive!

Review 56:Staying on the mont was amazing especially after the crowds had left for the day and in the morning before they arrived. The hotel was very quaint, beds very comfortable, bathroom modern and very clean.

Review 57:Arrived after 8 and there was no reception and also after 9 when the restaurant was closed for service and no-where else to go that was open. everyone takes absolute advantage of the place to make exhorbitant charges (4€ for 225 cl of Sptite, 9€ for a pint of Heineken). Nowhere to make or get a warm drink. The shuttle busses leave you a half mile short with any luggage you need to carry. Massive noises between 6am and 8am as the metal hand carts and motorised fork-lifts re-supply the retaurants over the nosy cobbles.

Review 58:A bucket list location.

Review 59:Mont Saint Michelle is very expensive and touristy place in general. It's better to arrive after 6-7 pm and leave at 11 am (from 11 to 7 it's REALLY CROWDED!)

Review 60:Old historical building, large room, clean!

Review 61:Was slightly confusing knowing where to park. No code was provided but you can press 'i' on the machine to enter the parking zone and speak to someone and tell them the hotel name in French. Then walk to the free shuttle which departs every few minutes (during peak season)

Review 62:Amazing to stay on the island and enjoy it after the crowds all left. We visited the Abbey next morning and it was incredible! Our 4 and 6 year old boys loved exploring all the rooms

Review 63:When I arrived the hotel (around 11 am.), the reception said that we can check in at 3pm, which I don't mind. Then we left our bags on the spot, we were told. I went to the toilet of the hotel, when I went out. They just put a chair and a sign in front of the exit of toilet, knowing that I was still in there.(I assume, they don't want anyone to use the toilet) It was hard for me to get out and get through these. I think it was kind of rude.

Review 64:Location: the hotel is located direct in Mont St Michel

Review 65:Restaurant called Les Terraces Poulard Worst attitude and servuce ever Encounteted anywhere Disgraceful rude maitre d and pleased we discouraged others from Eating there

Review 66:Experience of staying on Le Mont and being there when tourists had gone

Review 67:Lots of stairs...no elevator. Not important as staff will carry up luggage. But just to be aware.

Review 68:Liked the location right off main street and very convenient. Loved the medieval windows and ceilings. Very clean. Peekaboo view of water. Perfect for the environment. Rooms small but not a problem.

Review 69:bathroom all plastic-like toi-toi toilet, very old, funny smell, rusty shower, price very high for this sort of accomodation

Review 70:Location inside city walls

Review 71:Location is the terrific for nice albeit expensive restaurants which is what we expected. Really great to be on the Mount early in the morning avoiding the crowds.

Review 72:Our room was on the 'Grand Rue' and about 4AM they starting the forklift runs to remove garbage and deliver supplies. The resulting noise is not the fault of the hotel, but I would encourage any light sleeping visitors to ensure they get an outside room, not one on the street in this or any other hotel on the Mont.

Review 73:I did not like the TV contraption on the wall, though I can understand people might want this nowadays.

Review 74:How many times will one get to live in an old cathedral city where buildings have been restored for use ? Not many. And Mont Sant Michel is certainly one of those grand, out-of-this-world places. To live in Le Mouton Blanc is a unique experience. One is thrown back into old times because of cobbled narrow winding steep paths and restored buildings. Views and accessibility to cathedral are beyond expectation. People are village-y and kind and have boundaries like chapel going, etc. Restaurants provide superb food and service.

Review 75:Nothing. Adored the mount.

Review 76:The quaint cobblestone alleyways winding up through the village and the 5am deliveries of seafood to the restaurants below gave it an authenticity and atmosphere like no other hotel we have stayed in. The hotel is above their restaurant and uniquely built around the mountain therefore space is precious but what you lose on in space you gain with a view through two windows which open over the alleyways. Very quaint. At night, the abbey becomes illuminated making it spectacular to watch from the causeway. There are fabulous views from the lookout at sunrise from the northfacing bay. Must try the Saint Michel Cavallos. Delicious!

Review 77:Neither bath or shower worked, but staff were very helpful and tried hard to repair. Room for three people was very cramped with only a single chair.

Review 78:Staff were friendly and helpful. Interesting old building.

Review 79:was very disappointed with the food served to me in the restaurant as it was served on a cold plate so I sent it back

Review 80:this hotel is in a stunning location

Review 81:The crowds and hilly cobblestone streets make it difficult to get to your room with luggage. Partiers make noise in the otherwise quiet night streets. Workers and their rattly trucks start at 7.

Review 82:It was cool to see the hidden rooms on Le Mont St Michel. Wonderful to spend a night there and the price was fine.

Review 83:Located on the main street, it was very nosy starting around 6 in the morning because of deliveries and preparation for the day just outside my window.

Review 84:Wonderful room, friendly and helpful personnel, comfortable furnishings.

Review 85:Great little hotel in Mt. Saint Michel. Small room and tiny, very basic bathroom, but it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. WiFi seemed to work well. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay on the Mont!

Review 86:Awful smell from the pipes. Dirty walls and doors. Long time without renovation. No servise in the evening and night. You can't even buy a bottle of water.

Review 87:Price and quality are equal.

Review 88:- noise in the morning from the ghoods delivery starting at 5am and lasts several hours - the breakfast was just average

Review 89:- charming room - helpful stuff at the front desk - dinner was very good

Review 90:no WIFI on the third floor - had to go to the breakfast room two floors down to login in and keep connected to familiy and friends

Review 91:quietness in the evenings and mornings before tours started. breakfast room very welcoming and a nice place to start the day room was easy to heat up tot he temperature we liked and to keep it at that temperature for the two day stay

Review 92:Bed wasn't comfortable Most staff acted like you didn't exist (exception being the lady that checked me in - she was delightful) Walls are EXCEPTIONALLY thin. I could hear full conversations in the hall (staff should know better)

Review 93:Location Building was quaint...mostly Restaurant food was good

Review 94:They did not hold the room we reserved. Although they found us a place, it was not the 2-level room we reserved. We would have gone elsewhere but for that room. Carpets were old and stained.

Review 95:Inside the Mont, and our window looked directly up at the spire.

Review 96:Small, dark, old and not so clean rooms. The room was located in a separte building than the rest of the hotel. There was a major ( about two hours) delay in the room availability for check in.

Review 97:good location inside the island.

Review 98:Lack of lift and narrow stairs. If you have luggage ask for a lower room.

Review 99:A good place to stay for the convenience of viewing the island without the crowds. Only a little less convenient are the cheaper hotels at the end of the causeway

Review 100:Lots of stairs and best view was out of the hallway (although we did get some amazing shots by kneeling down there are pointing our cameras through the ancient, small window on the top floor!)

Review 101:Perfect location. I would not recommend visiting Mount St Michel without a couple of overnights. There is much to experience after the day trippers vacate. So much history ! Aside from the power of the energy there, simply watching the tides from the ramparts is amazing !

Review 102:Nothing worth to mention.

Review 103:Le Mount Saint Michel is a unique place and staying there for a night (all the tourist crowd is gone late afternoon) was a great experience, and Le Mouton Blanc was perfect for our intent. I choosed "demi-pension", and the dinner and the breakfast were very good. There were two stores at stairs, but I really asked for the highest room possible. In a 200-year building in a small island, an elevator would ruin the "medieval town experience". If you´re not crippled and can climb a few steep stairs without risking your life, I would recommend a higher room (mine had a lateral window with a view to the sea).

Review 104:We were so excited about the idea of staying in the village of Mont St Michel and it really was pretty cool to be able to roam around the village especially at night. However, the walls of the hotel, inside and out, were so thin, you could hear every noise, especially in the morning so forget sleeping in. The shower had 2 settings, extremely hot and cold and there was so little water pressure that it was like a trickle. The walls were so thin that my husband said that while he was taking his shower he could hear the guest in the next room going to the bathroom. And we were eaten alive by mosquitoes while we were walking around the village at night which is not the hotels fault but it made our stay more uncomfortable. Although I did like the idea of staying in the village, I don't think I would do it again.

Review 105:The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Review 106:No one told me I would have to take a shuttle and then walk 300 yards schlepping bags up a steep incline to get to the hotel. Further disappointed by the lack of a tide, which was not the fault of the the hotel. Mont Saint Michel is best seen from a distance.

Review 107:Location was good. Staff was incredibly nice.

Review 108:The experience of actually staying on the Mont was fantastic. It was great to be able to walk the cobble stone streets at night time when the hustle and bustle of tourists had finished. I would thoroughly recommend staying.

Review 109:Yes a little early traffic outside but who cares, get up early and start the beautiful day

Review 110:Great to be on the Mont after hours and Le Mouton Blanc was perfectly comfortable for our needs

Review 111:A bit expensive, but you can't really complain unless you are prepared to stay out of the island.

Review 112:The place is full of character, a perfect match for its surroundings. Our room had a dizzy view of the abbey, if you stuck you head out of the window far enough. But that was worth it.

Review 113:It is over-priced for the facilities offered, but offset by the location. Everything on the Mont is geared to extract the maximum dollar from the tourist by offering a minimum range of options. But for one night it is a real experience that I would thoroughly recommend - provided you make the effort to use the opportunity. Don't expect to lie in - the street cleaners etc start at 0530.

Review 114:This marvellous location is a nightmare to access during the tourist day. At night it is just WONDERFUL- you have the place to yourself. The receptionist at Le Mouton Blanc was brilliant - so helpful. So a great experience.

Review 115:Mosquitos came in at night but it was too hot with the window closed.

Review 116:The young man at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good range of foods.

Review 117:Nothing as we were very happy with our experience.

Review 118:Staying on the Mont overnight is a special experience. We were in a building away from the main hotel and it was very quiet at night once the tourists has left. Given the age of the building we were pleasantly surprised by the room fit out. We're appreciated the bay view room we requested. The young man at the reception was very friendly and helpful.

Review 119:Celine at the front desk refused to serve my elderly mother a drink, when we arrived and my mother was obviously depleted from the hike to the hotel. She said 'NO!' and walked away with no explanation, forgetting she's in the hospitality business. Bed was also uncomfortable.

Review 120:Mont St Michel is great / except for the people who work there.

Review 121:The staff was very friendly. the Hotel was very clean and cute. They gave us one complimentary drink at dinner and offered us coupons to use at many of the island facilities. Perfect location, allowed us to see sights before the tours arrived.

Review 122:No help with luggages in a place that stays 500 meters away and 50 meters higher from public parking. Small and badly maintained rooms. Poor breakfast. What you see in the site is not what you get. etc. etc……

Review 123:One lady at the reception was personally helpful.

Review 124:Beautiful historical hotel in the middle of Le Mont Saint Michel. We had a really nice room with a view to the street. Clean room and comfortable bed.

Review 125:Bedroom window adjacent to restaurant terrace made for noise until midnight. Tiny staircase made access with luggage difficult. Very expensive breakfast @ 17 euro per person.

Review 126:Location, friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable room.

Review 127:stairs only, and we were four ladies, one elderly.

Review 128:Location is amazing, I had a side view and could see out to the ocean, the staff were so lovely, just so accommodating and would help with anything. A truly amazing experience in a great locationo

Review 129:Fantastic location on Mont St Michel and although the room was a little small and could have been updated a little, this was compensated for by where it was.

Review 130:my room is not in the main building, I need to go up with the luggage after the long walk from the bus station...it's a bit frustrating

Review 131:right in the Mont St Michel

Review 132:Value for money was fair at best. I would not recommend to stay overnight at Mont St Michel.

Review 133:Person at desk was a great help and more pleasant than anyone else we encountered at Mont St Michel.

Review 134:Few bugs flying around if you sit next to open windows at street side restaurant. But food great. Waitress wonderful. Don't wait till late - they might not be able to serve you.

Review 135:The young waitress at the restaurant was very sweet. If you want to eat outside, go to connected restaurant next door up the stairs.

Review 136:Couldn't be closer to everything to do in Mont Saint Michelle, room was excellent comfy bed, clean and modern. Lovely old building with welcoming staff will give you good memories. Slightly pricey but to be fair the location dictates this. Highly recommended for a magical medieval get away. We stayed in a top floor room (105) very private with good shower and bath and windows on the ancient street below.

Review 137:an odd smell coming from the bath room, staff could not explain. suspect it is due to old plumbing, not hazardous.no screens on the windows and birds roosting on the sills.

Review 138:location is excellent and staff very pleasant.other reviews complained about the early deliveries but I found it interesting, we needed to be up early anyway.would have liked to have breakfast despite the cost but time did not permit.
