Reviews for Hôtel-Résidence La Cour du Bailli

Review 1:Some of the staff could do with customer service training. The lady at check in did not make us feel very welcome. The lady at check out and the gentleman in the restaurant were the opposite, being helpful & friendly.

Review 2:We have visited this property several times. Love the location, it is very pretty, has its own vineyard and opportunity to taste before you buy with a knowledgable family member. Convenient parking, lovely pool & comfy rooms. The restaurant is always open with a good menu & wine choice.

Review 3:Yes, you can hear the plumbing and people walking around upstairs but it's a really old building!! It's got a ton of character!

Review 4:Loved this wonderfully quirky hotel!! The decor is a mish-mash of furniture, art, fabrics, lighting-every little nook is filled with something different! Great breakfast!! Very nice staff!

Review 5:Was difficult to get to room which was up stairs. Being a mature couple we would have enjoyed something with easier access

Review 6:Good space in room. Proximity of parking and access to Weinstube restaurant

Review 7:the only slight negative was the parking however it's only 100 yards to the free parking or 200 to private parking plus there is a 30 minute zone out front.

Review 8:Really interesting place full of character but still comfortable with all mod cons. Lovely little city. Food in the restaurant was very good.

Review 9:We were waiting for 20 minutes in restaurant and nobody came to us... Probably because it was too busy and we were only family with kids there.

Review 10:Hotel and location are nice.

Review 11:The breakfast buffet could use some attention. The bread, meats, cheeses, were not restocked the first morning we ate. We arrived a half hour before the end of breakfast, and we were not the last guests to come down. We made do with what was left. We arrived earlier the second day, and we still weren't early enough. The coffee was delicious and plentiful, but the milk ran out both mornings.

Review 12:Staff was welcoming. Beautiful hotel. Wonderful town. Special requests were dealt with very competently. Delicious dinner in the restaurant. The first night, we arrived after the restaurant had officially stopped serving, but they gave us delicious tarts flambé for our supper.

Review 13:Friendly and helpful staff, very well equipped room and reasonably priced with it, loved to have stayed longer but sadly booked as an overnight stop off. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for base to explore this pretty region of France.

Review 14:The queue at checking-out time was long & slow, however they let me just leave the key and then kindly sent me the bill.

Review 15:Beautiful property in a typically gorgeous Alsace village. Good sized room with a fantastic bathroom. Breakfast was superb. (Didn't have chance to try their restaurant - it was fully booked - but it looked very pretty.)

Review 16:Rooms are very plain abd could be updates

Review 17:Charming little place, beautiful restaurant in the yard, amazing food. If you like typical local architecture and style, this is the place for you!

Review 18:The room is so small, when the suitcases are open, there is no room to move at all The pool seems unclean, because when diving you can't see anything. The water are not clear. The pool is very small, but even with young kids, I was concerned because of hygiene and maintenance issues.

Review 19:The location is interesting and special - inside the old city. However, the number of steep stairs, in the room and outside, make the stay very challenging

Review 20:OK, Bergheim is pretty, but for some reason I cannot explain it is full rather down-market coach trips & holiday-makers & accordingly the hotel & wider food & drink offer reflect this. We had dinner in the hotel, which I suppose was OK for the price, but if you are after good food & drink, there is none in the town which we could find. The wine is rough, but we managed to entertain ourselves by people watching & blending our own wine at dinner. The hotel is very tired & dated & I would imagine has not been decorated in decades. The curtain pole kept falling down. Pretty dreary. Breakfast looked so poor, we skipped & hit the road.

Review 21:My brother & I booked this hotel as a stop-over from the Alps to Calais. Bergheim looks from the internet to be a pretty town, which is sort of is. To be fair, this hotel is not expensive at something like 75 Euros for a twin room, it's clean & staff very friendly & helpful.

Review 22:* Important! The rooms are NOT air-conditioned. The nights were very hot and that interfered our sleep. Opening the windows brought mosquito into the room because there are no window nets. * The pool is open until 19:00, which is too early if you wish to take a swim after a day trip. * There is no curtain in the shower... * The hotel does not provide soap and a sponge for cleaning dishes in the kitchen. I advise you bring them with you.

Review 23:We spent 7 nights in this lovely hotel (25-June-2015, 2 parents and 2 teenagers). The place used to be a beautiful ancient farmhouse. Today, it is a well maintained hotel which keeps the unique relaxed atmosphere of the picturesque town of Bergheim. The hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub, the water was warm. A restaurant is also available, but we didn't eat there. Free public parking is available outside the town walls just 5 minutes' walk away from the hotel. Nearby, there is also a grocery store where you can buy fresh baguettes in the morning. We had a nice suite containing one bedroom with double bed and seating area with sofa bed and fully equipped kitchenette (refrigerator, dishwasher, electronic stove, coffee maker, plates, pots and more). * The location is perfect for day trips in Alsace and also in Black-Forest. * Bergheim is very beautiful and picturesque. Not lively as the other towns on the wine route, quiet and sleepy. * The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 24:It was the final night of our holiday and, based on a great meal and wine last year we stayed here a second time and were really disappointed. Maybe it was stand in staff, but dinner was chaos. Having ordered a starter , main course and accompanying wine flight, the waiter knew nothing about the wine, it arrived at odd times, we had to repeatedly remind him, he forgot our main course, my steak was overdone ( although, when I sent it back, the second one was fine), food and wine were haphazard (Gewurtztraminer provided with steak?!) They did apologise and refunded the wine flight, but if you want somewhere in Alsace that cares about its hospitality, don't stay here unless all you want is a comfortable bed. Shame, as it spoilt the end of our hols a bit.

Review 25:Really good night's sleep, and great to have a fridge to chill food for travel. Also fantastic bakery in village. We had breakfast in the room for a quarter of the hotel price!

Review 26:The entire dining experience was wonderful. A rustic setting (the old bailiff's court), great staff that were both attentive and courteous as well as top notch regional dishes that tasted exquisite.

Review 27:The layout of the apartment wasn't ideal and the bed downstairs (in the 4-5 ppl apartment) was v uncomfortable.

Review 28:We loved the pool! So clean and cosy and warm water! Free parking nearby was also great and staff was very helpful.

Review 29:The bed was on the small size. My husband is almost 2m tall so he had a hard time fitting in the bed, otherwise everything was good.

Review 30:The Spa was great. Fantastic massage with a very nice professional.

Review 31:Bed was hard, hot tub wasn't *hot*.

Review 32:Really enjoyed our stay here! Used the pool daily, ate at their restaurant twice. Good food, nice staff, adorable village!

Review 33:Can't think of a thing I didn't like:)

Review 34:apartment privacy kitchen facilities ambiance--Bergheim is so charming hotel restaurant Tarte flambee:) breakfast was fantastic staff was friendly and helpful EVERYTHING

Review 35:There was no secure parking at the hotel

Review 36:The character of the hotel and the pretty town. The swimming pool was very welcome after a long day on a motorcycle.

Review 37:We found the water in the pool and the jacuzzi too cold this time, one quick dip was enough.

Review 38:We like this hotel, perfect for families as you can eat out or in depending on mood and weather. The location, the village and the good restaurants near to the hotel are all excellent. This is the 2nd time we've been to this hotel and won't be the last.

Review 39:The hotel is getting a little expensive for the quality of the rooms. (we have stayed here 3 times now) The lack of nearby secure parking for our bikes was a bit of a worry for some members of the group.

Review 40:The location of the hotel is perfect and the ambience is terrific. The pool and Jaccusi are very welcome. The restaurant is good, but could do with some lighter options.

Review 41:The only whinge we had (just a little one) was that, as our room was roadside, there was a lot of daytime traffic noise, starting very early morning. Once the day trippers had gone home, things quietened down somewhat. But in fairness, this is a working village and at harvest time, it's full on, so this is only a minor complaint. Also, we took the last room in the hotel so there was no choice of location. Given the choice, I would recommend people to try and book a room at the back of the hotel, where it's quieter.

Review 42:This hotel is so pretty, set in Bergheim, an astonishingly beautiful village on the Alsace route du vin. The staff were very welcoming and spoke English well (a plus point because my French is poor). Our room was a 4 person studio apartment and there was more than enough space for two, for a three night stay. If there had been more of us it may have been a bit of a squeeze. If you are self catering, there are a couple of grocery stores and two excellent boulangeries, as well as an artisan butcher. The hotel has a busy restaurant (you need to book) and the same goes for their restaurant Vitispa at the wine cave. Food at both places was delicious, however we preferred Vitispa - the portions were not so huge and the style was a little more adventurous. There is a small swimming pool and jacuzzi too. We had the place to ourselves on the two occasions we used them. Both great. And then if you have the energy for a stroll around the village, you can walk around the ramparts and call in for a glass or two at one of the friendly little cafes in the village. It was harvest time when we visited and the air was rich with the smell of grapes - the little tractors coming down from the vineyards to the village winepress were fun to watch. Of course the Halbeisen cave is a must to taste some wines (free entry) and also the "Jam shop". If you are visiting for a relaxing 2-3 days, then you need go no further than Bergheim. A tour of more (beautiful) villages would probably be needed for a longer stay.

Review 43:Wifi erratic. Curtains didn't fully close. Kitchenette lacks basics (salt, pepper, and cloth and liquid for washing up). Breakfast expensive (but that's not a problem as there's an excellent baker's in the village).

Review 44:Location in pretty village, quiet and good for walking. Beyond the hotel, the village offers several good opportunities for dining and wine tasting. Good big rooms round nice courtyard. Swimming pool.

Review 45:Very minor complaints -Breakfast works out expensive for a family of 4 daily, we went to the local bakery instead and had breakfast on the terrace. We couldn't figure out the air-conditioning so was too warm for sleeping.

Review 46:Spacious family room with nice terrace and kitchen to do light cooking. Friendly staff and good restaurant. Hotel's own wine was in the fridge at very reasonable prices. Kids loved the small pool but it was only open from 9am-7pm. Very close to Ribeauville but not nearly as busy. Parked in Public parking beside hotel. A stroll around the ramparts is worth it.

Review 47:Slightly noisy late at night as people left the restaurant, but then again we did go to bed fairly early as we have a baby!

Review 48:Lovely location to explore Bergheim. Clean, nice room. Fun pool to use in the old wine cellar. Beautiful courtyard to the hotel.

Review 49:Well, the shower was totally impractical, and the toilet paper flimsy. But these minor details.

Review 50:We loved Bergheim. This beautiful hotel fits in well, too, and is really a special place. Clean and efficient. We would certainly like to come again.

Review 51:Jean Luc and Phillipe are very gracious host. Great location and comfort for a very reasonable price. Turckheim is an intriguing village and home of Francios Baur wines located next to the hotel. You must try the Sang du Dragon Pinot Noir....it is fabulous!

Review 52:Reception staff were not particularly friendly. Reception closes at 7pm and opens at 9am - a major problem if you want anything in the evening or wish to checkout before 9 (unless the previous evening) Studio room was very tired (but clean) and needs a good refurb

Review 53:Hotel location for exploring the area. Proximity to a very good restaurant (Winstub Sommelier)

Review 54:apartment a bit 'noisy

Review 55:Beautiful free sauna and area Spa, the flat was very kind and very typical, beautiful inner court

Review 56:The beds are uncomfortable; too soft and perhaps too old.

Review 57:The location is great: a very charming village.

Review 58:Good atmosphere and comfortable room.

Review 59:Having to leave pool 7pm

Review 60:Beautiful hotel, price excellent if you plan on using pool and jacuzzi open 9am 7 pm

Review 61:staff not too helpful if under stress

Review 62:nice ans spacious room, well equipped; spa

Review 63:The beauty/charm of the property, the swimming pool in the cellar.

Review 64:The restaurant was closed

Review 70:Restaurant wasn't open on the day we were there, Wednesdays

Review 71:Pool, location, quiet

Review 72:Bergheim!

Review 73:The walks through the vineyards. Observing the French village life. Great food.

Review 74:Nothing not to like!

Review 76:Superb site a quick walk to nice restaurants

Review 77:No disappointments!

Review 78:The staff

Review 79:Temperature of pool and jacuzzi not warm enough. Restaurant closed for 2 nights

Review 80:Food, room, facilities

Review 81:No dining facilities but clearly cannot be provided in Jan for the rare visitor!

Review 82:Whole hotel especially bedroom. Beautiful building and position.

Review 83:The mattress of the sofa bed

Review 84:The welcome, the organisation, the location, the ambiance

Review 85:Uncomfortable bed

Review 86:Good food in restaurant good service

Review 87:The hospitality, the place, the atmosphere

Review 88:Nothing

Review 89:Everything

Review 90:No aperitif on the terrasse

Review 91:Architecture alsacienne

Review 92:Perfect hotel, perfekt places!

Review 93:Wifi didn't work, bed was uncomfortable.

Review 94:Beautiful town & central location

Review 95:Nothing.

Review 96:Such a beautiful hotel and everything was so comfortable.

Review 97:Restaurant very busy resulting in a long wait for food which was disappointing

Review 98:Location

Review 99:There was no shower in our room, which was a drawback to my husband.

Review 100:We loved the location in a quaint medieval village.

Review 101:Room sizes. S/C facility despite being a B/B based hotel.

Review 102:No shower curtain.

Review 103:Good restaurants within walking distance from hotel; bicycle trail not far away either.

Review 104:Quality of food at restaurant. Poor choice of wines

Review 105:Location. Very close to vineyards. Friendly atmosphere

Review 106:The atmosphere of the old historical building, situated in a wonderful gem of a town.

Review 107:Loved our room....bed was extremely comfy. Staff was very willing and able to give out information about the area. The wine tasting was a nice addition.

Review 108:No air conditioning on a very very hot day is very hard to deal with.

Review 109:Beautiful hotel , loved the swimming pool in the old cellar ! The room was great for a family and spotless . It was mic to be able to get our washing done also .

Review 110:There was no full length mirror and no box of tissues in the bathroom.

Review 111:The girl at reception suggested an even better room to suit our requirements. It was fabulous!

Review 112:Unfortunate that on our visit the restaurant was (Exceptionally) closed that night.

Review 113:Convenient geographical position. Self catering room facilities good.

Review 114:The two nights we were staying there (a Wed and Thur) in May the restaurant was closed. Fortunately there were other eateries open that were close by in the old town

Review 115:Extremely picturesque in a lovely location

Review 116:Unfortunately, the very cosy court was not beeing served. We helped ourselves by buying water and wine in the nearby small shop and using the glasses from our room kitchen for a ,picknick' in the court yard.

Review 117:Very charming court, both booked triple rooms had a small kitchen (with a white and a sparkling wine in the fridge - produced by the owners of the hotel - to very reasonable prices around 8 Euros), the children loved the pool and jacuzzi.

Review 118:The breakfast was a little pricey, we thought, but we just chose to eat elsewhere.

Review 119:Charming hotel in such a beautiful little village. The staff was friendly and helpful. We accidentally left a book, and they immediately sent us a note asking if they could send it to us. We loved the little pool and hot tub located in the refurbished wine cellar. We would definitely recommend, and would like to visit again.

Review 120:Very pretty surroundings. The Bergheim town is extremely beautiful. Although it is not included among the top destinations in this regions, I prefered it to Riquewihr for example. Remember to book SPA procedures well in advance as you might not get to your massage by calling them just a few days before your stay!

Review 121:You can't complain about the character of the place.

Review 122:It was a great surprise for us as we just picked a place to stop overnight during our travels through France. A very traditional and character place to visit. Nice people and excellent food. Definitely worth coming back for a longer stay to relax and enjoy the charm of the hotel and the whole town. My teenage daughter is studying art and photography and there was so much for her to draw and enjoy.

Review 123:The lady on reception was most helpful in arranging onward transport and an alternative restaurant booking. The hotel restaurants were closed but we knew this when we booked and chose this hotel for its location.

Review 124:Everything was good

Review 125:Lovely old building, Large room with good facilities The village is beautiful, very quiet and with a good choice of restaurants. Out of main season there was plenty of free parking close by.

Review 126:Other guests smoking on the balcony used to access the rooms.

Review 127:Beautiful courtyard with stunning flowers. Reception staff very friendly and took time to show us all the facilities. We arrived early, but they happily took care of our cases in reception. We had an apartment, as we were 3 adults & 2 children. There were two bathrooms which was great. Restaurant was excellent.

Review 128:Ground floor apartment which had windows that opened to the street. Though it was very warm we kept them closed for safety purposes and had some trouble sleeping with no fresh air.

Review 129:Typical charming interior courtyard found in the alsace was where the rooms were located....like a storybook!

Review 130:No airconditioning and no wifi in rooms. Breakfast not worth the price. The metal we had in the evening was ok - But far from excellent.

Review 131:Great location in a beautiful small village. Big room. Lovely atmosphere. Would stay in the same hotel again and recommend it to my friends too!

Review 132:Stairs leading up to the master bedroom upstairs were steep. Bathroom was upstairs - but the chance to be in the older part of Bergheim offset these difficulties. Town of Begheim was quiet from a resturant perspective. Other towns were very close that offered more dining options.

Review 133:This hotel offered a nice location in the Alsace region. The town of Bergheim is beautiful with the hotel being 2 doors down from the main tower leading into the village. The hotel offered chilled bottles of their house-made Cremant (at their winery price) in the room. This Cremant was excellent. The hotel also included a pool and spa in the lower level that the kids enjoyed - although tiny for doing much swimming. The kitchen was small but functional for breakfasts purchased at the nearby market.

Review 134:My only complaint would be not having room darkening shades, as it stays light until very late in the summer.

Review 135:The location is perfect for visiting some of the other villages, as well as Haut Königsberg, Monkey Mountain and the Birds of Prey show. The village of Bergheim is absolutely charming!!!

The Fine Print
