Reviews for Hotel Gabriel

Review 1:Receptionist was nasty and rude. She didn’t try to solve our issues. You have to put the wifi password every 30 min if you don`t use the connetion and it is a bit annoying We found a t-shirt under the bed

Review 2:Location.

Review 3:we had to leave. no discount at the suggested restaurants. No direction to the hotel. There is a sign at the beginning of the road telling people not to come in!

Review 4:Breakfast and wifi. clean and comfortable bed. delicious fruits, breakfast selection. proximity to Mont St Michel.

Review 5:Except for Mont-Saint-Michel it's really nothing to do around - just overpriced restaurants and a few hotels. But it's not really the hotel's fault, just a thought.

Review 6:Easy walking / bus connection to Mont-Saint-Michel abbey is a great plus. The hotel was comfortable, the breakfast was various, and we received a pleasant discount to the shop nearby. If you arrive by car, it's better to contact hotel in advance to receive the pass code to the entrance gate to Mont-Saint-Michel premises.

Review 7:One of the staff (the one on duty on 8, 10/11) gave us a wrong access code for twice and need to try half an hour before giving us a new code. Wasting our time and had poor attitude about her fault.

Review 8:Stylist with good location.

Review 9:Nothing!

Review 10:The staff was very helpfull, the room was confortable, Perfect breakfast... I have nothing to say wrong about this hotel. I highly recommend it!

Review 11:Wifi lasted less than a minute; it was poor.

Review 12:Friendly, helpful staff, with a wonderfully comfortable, smoke free, quiet room, with comfortable beds, and free parking real close to the bus stop for Mont St Michel in the restricted zone. Terrific private shower and bathroom. All in an outstanding, safe, quiet location. Good free breakfast. Nearby stores and restaurant 1-2 mins walk.

Review 13:Perfect location, within walking distance to Mont St Michel (25 mins), friendly staff, clean and spacious room. Free shuttle bus to Mont St Michel is right outside the hotel.

Review 14:room was quite small. you have to reconnect to the wifi every few minutes but its a small bother since the password is saved and you only have to click once to reconnect.

Review 15:superb location inside the mont st michel closed area. you have to call the hotel and get the code for the gate. hotel is right in fromt of the shuttle stop and 2 mins ride from mont st michel. beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good. staff very kind and helpfull. didnt really mind the fact that there is no elevator since it took us 30 secs to get to the second floor up the stairs with all the luggage. overall hotel was good and we recommend it.

Review 16:Room was small with staircase that blocked space, and the most modern furniture in the dining area looked out of place in this area of France. But overall it was worth it for the location and the friendliness of the staff.

Review 17:Perfect location and parking right there. Easy walk or bus ride to Mont Saint Michel. WiFi worked well, breakfast was more than sufficient with friendly staff. Started our days great.

Review 18:The hotel had a very convenient location to Mont St. Michel. The shuttle picked us up and dropped us off just steps from the hotel parking lot where we were allowed to leave our car all day for free. We checked in after 7, so we were able to get into the "resort" area for free after the gate came up. If you check in earlier in the day, be sure to call the hotel for the code to get you into the resort. (That one took us a while to figure out.) The hotel was clean and comfortable and had some fun, quirky decorations. Helpful, kind staff and a good breakfast in the morning, too.

Review 19:The one thing that we found lacking was having an screen on the window. Even in early October there were just a lot of mosquitoes in the area and therefore we really couldn't open the window to get fresh air in without having the mosquitoes fly in.

Review 20:The rooms are on the small side and if you have two large suitcases, it will be cramped. However, considering the money and location, it's still a very good value for the money. Furnishings are more then adequate and the bathroom was quite good.

Review 21:Although we were allotted a room for three, the space was tight. If the stairs had not been there, it would have been more comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 22:Very helpful staff; wonderful breakfast; great location.

Review 23:Room is tired and needs a fresh paint. Noisy because of 6am deliveries which the lorry parked and unloaded under our window.

Review 24:Location very good for a walk to Mont Saint Michele, however; stuck in an area of high prices for food, snack and drinks. Hotel offers no food other than a tin can/store bought cold breakfast.

Review 25:No one informed us we needed an access code costing 4 euro to drive onto the road leading to the hotel. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Restaurants all seemed to need reservations which made feeding a young child more stressful than should have been. Head for the rotisserie. They were friendly there.

Review 26:Location was good but with better planning we might have stayed on the mount itself.

Review 27:I went to the Hotel from Rennes by Car. They did not advise me that PIN Cord was required to get through the gate over there. Therefore, I could not get through at that time.

Review 28:The loft is on the smaller side, but kids are happy to be on the 2nd floor.

Review 29:Location couldn't be better. The room is new and clean. Breakfast is wonderful! Front desk is very knowledgable about the tide schedule. The shuttle stop is 50 meters away, and a nice grocery store is another plus. We all had great time! Thank you!

Review 30:Besides mt saint michel there is not much to do. The hotelrooms are too small for 2 people in one room. even when entering the village for your stay, you will have to pay a parking fee.

Review 31:Location 2 km from the mt saint michel, near 5 restaurants .

Review 32:WiFi was a bit unstable, but that happens a lot here especially on the coast. A bit of a hassle finding the right hate to get in!!!

Review 33:Location, modern, great bed, breakfast included, walk to the Mont.

Review 34:The rooms felt like cabins on a ship with very little space in them. The decoration of the hotel was not to our liking but I can understand others may feel differently. The whole park this hotel is located in along with the other hotels and restaurants is truly horrendous, so tacky and touristy I hardly have the words to describe it. Having seen this area 30 years ago and seeing it now I wish I hadnt returned.

Review 35:So close to Mont Saint Michel with a free bus shuttle up to the entrance. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good.

Review 36:The main benefit was that it was within the restricted part of Mont St. Michel. Shuttle service was available making the trek to the castle very easy, including at night.

Review 37:Poor wifi. Logged out within minutes. Gate password should be better explained and noted.

Review 38:Location. If you are there to see the Abbey, this is a great location as there are free shuttles to and fro.

Review 39:Free WiFi access didn't connect at all. The reception told me that the network was full because of all travellers in August.

Review 40:Very good placed to access Mt St Michel. you can park your car (4 euros/ entry and free during the night) and can get the free shuttle bus to get to Mt St michel, rather than park your car to the parking of Mt St Michek which is much more expensive. Was very nice to see the Mt St Michel lighted up... The room very clean, large, and renewed. Good breakfast. Special attention to children - at the reception, they have kids corner with pictures for coloring with color pencils.

Review 41:Wifi was poor, had to constantly log back in.

Review 42:Location was amazing, it was nice to have on site parking. The room was pretty funky and the two story room was fun.

Review 43:It is too hot if you stay here in summer. Besides, it may be a little noisy in the middle night because it is near by the road.

Review 44:Nice location! It is very close to the mountain Saint Michael, and the shuttle bus stop to mountain is just in front of the hotel. The staffs are very friendly, they provided a lot of useful information of shuttle bus, restaurants and shops.

Review 45:Would have preferred double bed to have been downstairs and twin beds up on the mezzanine level as stairs were very steep! Wifi connection not good.

Review 46:Located through barrier and 2 mins from walkway to Mont St Michel. Bus stop outside hotel takes you to island. Restaurants to choose from next to hotel. Quirky family room decoration very good. Good breakfast.

Review 47:- friendly staff which is rare for this place - pretty good location with free shuttle to Saint Michelle abbey - really good breakfast - clean

Review 48:- quads are duplex rooms on the 2nd floor of the hotel, just under the roof. there is no air conditioning or at least windows upstairs in the quads, so it's getting extremely hot and stuffy, making your sleeping horrible - wifi. your session is being terminated each 15 minutes so you have to sign-in again and again, not to mention signal is weak in rooms - weak cold water pressure, hot is ok

Review 49:Wifi signal wasn't strong enough in room. Couldn't find a lift which was a problem with a small child even though there are only a couple of floors. Hard to carry luggage, baby and pram upstairs when baby asleep.

Review 50:Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent location opposite free bus to mont St Michel. Nice breakfast. Was the cheapest available as places this close to mont at Michel were very booked up; ok value for money.

Review 51:WIFI never worked. The computer never worked and the staff was of no help.

Review 52:The facility itself is great. Bathroom is very spacious and clean. Breakfast super great.

Review 53:Booked four person split level room - obvious raised eyebrows from staffwhen she said it was a famy room as if we had cheated them because ourboys are 18 & 22 (with special needs). Change the website if theyare only for families with small kids

Review 54:Location

Review 55:The wifi set up with a per device user id and the necessity to log on each time one uses internet proved rather cumbersome and an unwelcome waste of time. Even so, the connection in our room was lost for a while and quite slow...

Review 56:The location is perfect for visiting Mt Saint Michel and the hotel offers all the comfortable basis for a short stay in the area. The two ladies at the reception on duty on the morning of July 4th were of real and important help to us with a set of logistic information and support.

Review 57:Lack of elevator for travelers with heavy luggage.

Review 58:Location of hotel, friendly staff, quiet área and plenty of parking for cars. Free Bus to Mont Saint Michel (5 minutes ride) passes in front of hotel.

Review 59:N/L

Review 60:The hotel is super cute design! And the location is so nice to reach saint Michel! Even the hotel included the breakfast which is really nice and convenient!! We don't have to look for food in the early morning :))) we have a great stay here!!!

Review 61:Pay for parking when you book to get entrance code to the site to avoid any confusion when you arrive.

Review 62:The hotel was clean, staff very efficient and friendly. Decor was quirky in a good way. The family room was spacious for the three us. The buffet breakfast was superb. We paid to park at the hotel which was a good move as the new parking off site for Mount St Michel proved confusing for first timers. Tip pay for parking with booking to get the entrance code before you travel.

Review 63:The wifi would sometimes drop but it was fairly consistent.

Review 64:Very comfortable room Clean, updated bathroom Free wifi Free breakfast Fun, funky design Friendly multi-lingual staff Luggage storage Family-friendly

Review 65:Roadworks outside the hotel are not within the hotel's control - but it made for very limited access - and a long way to walk with our cases. Would have been good to have been pre-warned.

Review 66:Close to Mont St Michel - which was what we wanted.

Review 67:Because of the construction outside I had difficulty accessing the hotel with my car. I should have been told of this when I made the booking.

Review 68:Bright and cheerful decor and staff

Review 69:The breakfast is really poor.

Review 70:Very confortable bed, nice and clean room. The location is very good, you can reach Mont Saint Michel on foot in about 25 min and in 5 min by shuttle bus. Try to avoid going to the island in the middle of the day. It is extremely crowded. It' s difficult to reach the Abbay and once there you stay 1 hour in line to get tickets. The road down is again a nightmare because of the crowds.

Review 71:Le dejeuner c etait bien, mais pour le prix j attendais un peux mieux...

Review 72:Tres proche aux navettes pour visiter le Mont st Michel - une excellent location; super bien placé! chambres aussi tres propres - rien a se plaindrre

Review 73:Bring your own soap and shampoo. They support but it is not fancy one.

Review 74:Mordern and simple. If you hope to find a room outside of the castle with limited budget, it would be good option.

Review 75:Great beds, great bath/shower, and a view of Mont St Michel. The staff were very helpful; they arranged a taxi for us on the holiday. It took a bit of effort, but they didn't give up until we were sorted. The bus stop to the station is nearby and the walk out to the island is enjoyable. We all agreed better to stay here than on the island.

Review 76:There was a parking fee of 4 euros. If we hadn't have checked in on foot it would have been impossible to get into the hotel. They mention that in fine print, but we had no phone to call.

Review 77:Great location close to Mont St Michel

Review 78:Really loved this hotel, perfect location to visit Mont St. Michel - the free shuttle bus stops right ouside. There are some good restaurants right by it and a supermarket across the road. Really bright colourful interior and very child friendly with colouring tables in reception. Breakfast was great too. The only drawback was the stairs up to the mezzanine in the bedroom were very steep. I'd say get a room without a mezzanine if possible if travelling with small kids.

Review 79:For a 3 star hotel I would expect a Mini-bar/small fridge. The room could be bigger but it was functional. Although it is not under the responsibility of the hotel we wondered why the nearby restaurants opening times in such a tourist area were so limited (close at 2pm and open at 7pm). It made the location not very lively.

Review 80:Very nice location at a walking distance to the Mont Saint-Michel. Ideal for a morning jogging. A couple of good restaurants nearby. Parking places available for free. Very good continental breakfast, the croissants and pains au chocolat are freshly made, not microwaved from supermarket.

Review 81:Carries a bit the feel of a hostel. Breakfast is included so not much to complain about, but not enough variety of foods are presented there--even if again, the design of everything is awesome and certainly grabs your attention all the time and therefore compansates for the little that's missing. It isn't a hotel to stay, but rather to stay at for one or two nights....

Review 82:Designed by Gilles Dobois, this is an experience! Just the design in and by itself is mind blowing--every element in this hotel was thought of -- if to go to La Mont St. Michele, then definately not to pass on this hotel or either one of its restaurants across the street. Simple but playful and a totally different approach to hospitality in general. We found the ladies at the front desk super smiley and attentive--very friendly, very accomodating. Great for families with children as well

Review 83:You needed a access code to get passed the barrier to proceed to the hotel and carpark. The hotel don't provide this prior to arrival, so I would contact them before you arrive to obtain it, otherwise you will have to pay for parking before getting to the hotel.

Review 84:The hotel was very well situated close to mont st. Michel with friendly and nice staff.

Review 85:The loft stairs were steep and a little danger for small kids. There was a construction going on with the road leading to the hotel which had a gateway which required a passcode, we wasted quite a time to search for a different route not being notified that we had to call the hotel for the code.

Review 86:Best location for going to Mt. St. Michel, about 10 min across the new passway. There is a bus stop right in front for the shuttle. Our room was small for 4 but had a loft and bearable. The staffs were friendly and the breakfast was sufficient and good.

Review 87:The staff are very nice and helpful. The room is clean and bright and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast is simple but with good quality. Really enjoy to stay here.

Review 88:I couldn't get the Wifi to connect, but that may just be me.

Review 89:Perfectly located to free shuttle, supermarket and restaurants. Room was warm, quiet and supremely comfortable after a hard days walking (and climbing stairs). Breakfast was also excellent.

Review 90:Only issue was the barrier that you had to pass to get to the hotel, could have done with more information concerning the code required each time you tried to return to the Hotel.

Review 91:Good breakfast and clean functional rooms

Review 92:we couldn't get our wifi to work. tiny rooms.

Review 93:short bus ride or walk to mont st-michel -- we did both. very convenient. we were there during the highest tide in 18 years -- definitely check the tide chart! friendly staff. immaculately clean. very fun and funky decor.

Review 94:I had a very late booking, so I got a low price. When I saw the actual rates, they were almost double in price. This place is excellent, but you will pay for it if you don't get a deal.

Review 95:Everything was excellent. The room was very new and nice. The breakfast is free and incredible.

Review 96:Wifi free but need to enter the password several time Heaters are making the atmosphere very dry. Some water nearby could help ?

Review 97:Location Breakfast included and good products Decoration Staff Free wifi

Review 98:staff is not that friendly. many jap student stayed in there at same time. they were noisy...

Review 99:nice location and breakfast. the room is warm enough and can see the NHK.

Review 100:Stair to upstairs in the room was steep and narrow. If you have young kids, should be careful.

Review 101:Location was really nice. Staff was very kind and helpful. Even breakfast was good!

Review 102:Room space is too small The step panels in the room for the upper deck are too small or dangers for kids.

Review 103:Location is good. Nicely renovated with clean building Food is normal Nice and Kind Workers

Review 104:Just no lift, but still ok for us, because our case was not large.

Review 105:Five minutes' walking from the bus station. One minute's from the shuttle bus stop, where shuttle buses run between the area and the Mont -- quite convenient. Artistic decoration. Kettle and free tea and coffee in the room. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 106:Poor WiFi connection. No restaurant (only breakfast available).

Review 107:Location. Comfortable room. 4 bed room has two floors inside - which is really cool. Breakfast.

Review 108:The Internet access worked but every time you loaded a new webpage it made you log into the Internet again.

Review 109:Everything was top notch! Right from checkin to checkout was great. The room was really nice and comfortable and clean. The bed was extremely cozy and that made it difficult to even wasn't to get out of bed. The decor was cool, the buffet breakfast was the best I've had in France by far! Bus location was perfect. (With exception to the Internet)

Review 110:No lift to the upper floors

Review 111:Clean, modern hotel. Bright room with nicely finished bathroom. Modest breakfast buffet included in room price. Travelling in low season so few crowds, shuttle bus to Mont St Michel stops out front of hotel. Great restaurant next door. WiFi very good. Parking is free at the hotel but you are charged a 4euro entrance fee into hotel/restaurant area and you need to call hotel ahead of arrival to get the entrance code at the gate to area; not sure if you can use an intercom if you don't get code ahead of time.

Review 112:It was a great location and the staff was really nice. Definitely recommend it. The wifi tended to automatically cut off quite a few times but other than that it was great!:)

Review 113:Friendly lady at reception welcomed us for check in and she gave a little gift to us. Room, breakfast, location...everything was awesome during the stay!

Review 114:great spot, close to the Mont Saint Michel. there's a bus every 10 min from and to the MSM right in front of the Hotel's door. Great, light, clean and very update decoration. I definitely will recommend this hotel as the best option.

Review 115:Maybe a few extra pastries or a bit more variety of juice, bread, and cheese at breakfast would have made this an experience beyond all compare!

Review 116:Lovely little hotel, very clean, friendly staff, and perfectly luxurious rooms for a family of 4. Located along with a few other hotels a short distance from Mt St Michel; a perfectly priced alternative for those who can't find rooms on the Mont (which are in short supply for families to begin with) or who want to stay where they have a view of the Mont, in addition to affordability! Restaurants are close by, the Mont is connected by a free shuttle, as is Pontorson and the railway lines. Hotel Gabriel is really a perfect mid-way alternative for a visit to Mont St Michel.

Review 117:New beautiful spacious hotel within walking distance of St. Michel.Staff was knowledgeable, helpful and has one of the best breakfasts Ihad on my tour of Europe. Had a computer with internet connection.

Review 118:The 2-floor room for 4 is way to small, very modern design - for a different taste. The rest was OK, although a bit pricy as compared to the rest of the hotels we stayed in, but it is because of location.

Review 119:Perfect location. The hotel is located in the restricted zone (open only for the visitors of Le Mont St Michel who come by the bus or stay in the hotel), next to the bus stop. The breakfast is good, location perfect, beds comfortable. Recommendation: when coming to Le Mont St Michel, call the hotel and ask for a security code to come straight to the hotel and avoid parking the car at the general visitors parking lot (as fee is high and not worth riding the bus with suitcases). You can conveniently park the car next to the hotel and then take a free bus to the island.

Review 120:No elevator, which made it difficult with luggage and my 94 year old dad to get up stairs. Ask for ground floor if you have mobility issues. Other than this, no issues. Some rooms have steep ladder to a loft with queen bed, so be prepared for this if you need a room to sleep more than 2. Not a problem for me to climb a ladder, but some people may not be able to. I loved it as was very comfy up there!

Review 121:Great location close to shuttle to Mont St Michel or a pleasant 30 minute walk. Very clean and a wonderful breakfast included.

Review 122:wifi had to log in all the time and sometimes new user was necessary no elevator

Review 123:location is amazing, just across the street from the free bus that takes you to mont st michel rooms are really good, big for french standards staff was really nice breakfast was incredible free wifi

Review 124:Wifi logging needs extra pin. Not very convenient

Review 125:Good location and warm staff. Though room not very big, the extreme cleanliness and comfort beding make up for all.

Review 126:Soundproofing in the room was inadequate. We could hear voices, people using their toilets, doors slamming, etc. WIFI was almost useless; .18 mb/sec (that's point one eight). My Swisscom speed is 30 mb/sec, or 166 x faster. Desk staff were not friendly nor helpful.

Review 127:The location is excellent for access to Mont Saint Michel. Breakfast was satisfactory. The dining room staff were great.

Review 128:There is a 'super marche' across the street. They have basic things but it is more like a souveneir shop than a grocery store.

Review 129:There is a free shuttle bus stop in front of the hotel and this bus runs 7:30 to midnight everyday every 10 minutes. That was great. The lady serving breakfast was frendly and happy.

Review 130:wifi is very poor.

Review 131:Location is great; near the shuttle bus stop, just renovated, quiet and safe area. Staff are friendly. Hotel is clean. Breakfast is good. There is no elevator but most of hotel in France is the same condition.

Review 132:There is only a fan inside the room which we did not expect. Fortunately, it wasn't too hot during our stay, however, it can be stuffy. We have to leave the window open at night time.

Review 133:Location is good and the hotel and room are clean. The shuttle bus stop is just across from the hotel and there is a shop that sells souvenirs right beside the bus stop. Very convenient.

Review 134:This is a motel by US standards. No air conditioning. Wifi was not great- list of passwords and sign ons to try.

Review 135:Clean & Convienient location off le Mont, close to the store and restaurants. Breakfast that was included was a nice bonus. Shuttle stop was right in front and it was easy to go back and forth from MSM. Short walk to the bus stop and tourism office. Bike rental at Hotel Mercure next door.

Review 136:Slow internet connection

Review 137:We got a two floors room , very clean and cousy. Very nice treatment from the staff. Internet was slow, but all of the rest was perfect! Very close to the supermarket as well.

Review 138:The fact there was no elevator...must have missed that tidbit of information and wifi connection not consistent. Each time we wanted to use it, we had to turn off phone and then turn back on. My friend could only get connected once. The hotel should not advertise wifi until problem resolved. I don't usually have a need to use my phone but we needed train schedules. Thank you.

Review 139:Staff very friendly, breakfast excellent. Excellent location for visiting Mont St Michel. Bus to Pontorson to catch train almost outside the front door.
