Reviews for Complejo San Marcos Posada Spa

Review 1:Room was "dumpy". Not a 4-star facility compared to others of similar rating. Threadbare towels. Not enough outlets. Elevator was slow, and door stuck open for several minutes. Shower head positioned in middle of the wall so shower glass did not prevent water from soaking the floor and counter (see photo). We had the only room with an uncovered balcony, so when it rained, we couldn't sit outside without getting wet! Rooms that face the street have traffic noise, even with the balcony door closed. Very uncomfortable, lumpy beds. Dislike that there is a charge for parking even though the hotel has it's own parking lot with plenty of room! Staff were ok, but no friendly experiences to speak of.

Review 2:Convenient 10 minute walk to Santillana del Mar old town. On a main road. Breakfast selection very good with a variety of fruit, meats, breads, yogurts. Self-serve coffee. Hotel has an elevator. Did not use spa facilities since we arrived too late and left before it opened.

Review 3:The spa was very strange! 8 people use it at once but there's only really room for 6, and even then only if you all change activities at the same time! The pool is small and cold, the jacuzzi was also quite cool and the bubble jets far too powerful (and there's no way to turn them off!), and the sauna is tiny. We felt very awkward sharing with 6 other people and left early. Also you have to walk across the car park in full view of the road in your dressing gown (which it is mandatory to wear). All very odd!

Review 4:Lovely comfortable clean room. Interesting collection of motorbikes! Excellent breakfast buffet.

Review 5:The night and breakfast staff was not friendly and sympatetic.

Review 6:location walking 10min from the village. The personal spa and wellness facility. Interesting building and facilty. Offer to drive a Ferrari through the area.

Review 7:Tiny attic room, hit head on ceiling; window with balcony faced solid stone wall 3ft opposite, people (staff?) sat and smoked directly below window; bed thin, hard, uncomfortable, no pillows only one long hard sausage pillow; walls thin so heard baby crying in next room; we complained about room and asked to upgrade or move room but told hotel full; chose hotel for pool but pool small and only 4 sunloungers available; no help taking bags to room; only one receptionist spoke any English; we said we were leaving next morning but they insisted on their contractual right to charge fully for the second night, manager hid in the office.

Review 8:Staff were polite, good car parking

Review 9:this is a two stars hotel pretends to be a 4 stars hotel the a/c didn'nt work, the fan didn't work, the rooms are simple and look plain in understatement

Review 10:the outside

Review 11:No useable air conditioning If you open the window at night VERY noisey!!! As a result you have a very uncomfortable night. Read the other reviews. Why does a hotel charge for parking? Not one of my better stays from Booking.com. I don't think this hotel is worthy of 4 stars.

Review 12:Close to town Cleanliness Car parking

Review 13:no air conditioning on a steaming hot night & as bugs everywhere had to shut windows. room small with 1 hard chair. TV 3/4 up wall. bathroom small & a death trap. cistern dripped all night, toilet seat loose.

Review 14:the situation to santillana del mar

Review 15:Very noisy location

Review 16:Nice and warm welcome from the staff

Review 17:The road

Review 18:The staff

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Location car park and classic bikes

Review 21:Great location and facilities. Will definitely use this hotel again, easy drive to the Ferry in Bilbao.

Review 22:excellent location and beautiful hotel

Review 23:No tea or coffee facilities. Noises all night room next to reception.

Review 24:Rooms are quite Noisy so not too easy to get a nights sleep if neighbours are ' out and about ' or watching TV

Review 25:Great Location and Place Nice Rooms

Review 26:The lack of air-conditioning: definitely needed on hot nights.

Review 27:The helpful and good humoured staff. The room size and decor; the balcony; the building architecture; the nearby parking; the location -esp. for the Altamira caves. The breakfast.

Review 28:Had dinner in hotel and very disappointed. Food was poor with little choice anyway but some meals not available. Restaurant lit too brightly with no atmosphere. Sort that out and would have been perfect.

Review 29:Cleanliness, friendly staff, very good rooms, lovely building, great location, good breakfast with plenty of choice, excellent parking.

Review 30:I was disgusted by this hotel. Firstly, the staff were extremely rude from the moment we checked in. We we initially placed in a room without air con, which according to the website, was present throughout the hotel. I therefore asked for our room to be changed. I was then told the building I had been placed in was actually not 4star(the hotel was advertised as a 4star and that's what we had paid for) and that we were not entitled to air con. When I then challenged this they became rude, attempted to intimidate me and also began to lie by saying that they didn't have any other rooms. When I refused to leave without a room change they then checked the website as they thought I was simply lying. Eventually they changed our room, however, the air con was controlled centrally and they periodically turned it off, one night they turned off the air con three times, and the only way we could have it turned back on was to ring down to reception and request it , so in the sweltering heat, this led to three extremely sleepless nights. The wifi also didn't work in the room, which the room had been advertised as the opposite. I fully expect some feedback from this and remuneration for bad advertising.

Review 31:Nothing whatsoever.

Review 32:The weather, but can't blame the hotel for that.

Review 33:Beautiful room. Large with balcony and great view. Will go again. Very friendly staff and good food.

Review 34:checked in at 2pm, hoping to have a snack/ lunch in 90c sunshine there were no outdoor seating areas, apart from an ancient stone bench there was no service at all for even a drink/ snack in the gardens or by the pool until 4pm?? had to lie on jaggy grass with a vending machine drink! and avoid the dog faeces on the grass...

Review 35:the restaurant food was of a very good quality, both dinner and breakfast the bathroom and bedroom were spotlessly clean and in very good condition - pleasing aesthetically Juan Ramon, the owner, has a formidable classic car collection which he kindly showed to us after dinner

Review 36:The breakfast was very poor. There were not a great variety of fresh food. We were expecting a better breakfast in a countryside hotel, especially because the quality of everything in the hotel was of a high standard. The breakfast was not of a 4 stars hotel and the attendant was not handsome.

Review 37:The room was very beautiful and cosy. Everything was very clean and the environment was generally accommodating. The location was very good to visit Santillana and Altamira caves.

Review 38:8 euro per person per hour for gym is very expensive, the gym was empty our whole stay it makes no sense. for an American tourist who is used to free exercise facilities I will pay 4euros but not 8. the gym/spa is the only unique thing about the property

Review 39:the rooms were comfortable and the patio for each room was a nice feature

Review 40:The staff were not welcoming and friendly. The slope into the annexehotel was quite scary to walk up when carrying ones luggage.

Review 41:Cleanliness of all areas

Review 42:The hotel had a really nice spanish style and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good and location great. Very family friendly for kids of all ages. Indoor and outdoor pools so swimming in all weathers. A swimcap is required for the indoor pool but these can be obtained from reception. Overall very good with nice friendly atmosphere.

Review 43:Small room Not possible to sleep with room ventilated as ground floor room easily accessed by intruder. So had to lose doors to terrace and use shutters as no curtains No air con either Noisy road Lack of privacy from people using steps to pool Grumpy waitresses in restaurant Lack of dinner choice in evening Breakfast cakes, pastries and bread were not fresh Small towels Did not feel 4 star. Relying on location to historic town rather than service to set price. We were disappointed and did not feel we got blue for money.

Review 44:Off road parking Swimming pools Location Room had a terrace

Review 45:How clean it was. Helpful staff. Good location

Review 46:Good value for money.

Review 47:Excellent sightseeing

Review 48:as a countryside hotel out of the village it's not fair to charge for parking.

Review 49:good location near the village, helpul staff

Review 50:Pay €5 for the car park when you are almost outside the village. Myfeeling within our room was not from a 4* hotel.

Review 51:Ask for a room NOT on road side. Roadside is very noisy. AC is centrally regulated and turned off at night.

Review 52:Nice and friendly staff.

Review 53:Everything. A stunning place with a beautiful collection if cars!

Review 54:great stay no problems

Review 55:Lovely setting great hotel very clean good breakfast
