Reviews for Hotel Restaurant Les Galets
Review 1:Wi-fi was not available in the annex building, but the reception had tables a comfortable place to sit.
Review 2:Beautiful view, across the street from the beach, comfortable room, good restaurant, excellent value for money.
Review 3:No hair dryer in the room! Breakfast wasn't great and only ate it on first morning of 3. Typical continental breakfast but not worth €10 in my opinion!
Review 4:Great location with a fabulous view over the med and right next to the beach. Staff didn't speak much English but were really lovely and went out of their way to be helpful. V tasty food in the restaurant also. Lovely room and fantastic balcony. Good shower.
Review 5:We had room one which was really two rooms with an enormous balcony overlooking the bay. This was lovely and we spent a lot of time there as it was very hot when we were there and we could sit in the shade and watch the beach and the yachts etc
Review 6:A quirky hotel on the side of the hill which was right across the road from the beach in the lovely resort of Bandol..Some parts of it were dated but it had the feel of a hotel where Agatha Christie might set one of her books(minus the murder!).Lovely room with balcony and amazing view.
Review 7:The noise from the nearby road along the shore.
Review 8:We enjoyed the staff hospitality, and sitting on our room balcony looking at the sea and enjoying the evening breeze. Dinner was very good, served on a terrace overlooking the sea.
Review 9:Breakfast with a view on the private terrace The restaurant must be tried as very subtle and elaborate food without the pompous mystery surrounding some restaurant menus, perfect for a romantic weekend/week
Review 10:The tap wasn't working in the bathroom and we couldn't get the TV to work but trying to get help was very difficult as we were outside the main building and could not get back into the hotel through the fire door so we had to go around the outside with many steps ( the hotel is on a steep hillside.) right to the bottom of the hill when the staff went off at 9 they just locked the hotel! The little balcony was covered in yellow pollen. The shower and loo need a refurb and the hotel building needs upgrading in corridors and stairs.
Review 11:The view of the bay for the bar and the room.
Review 12:Restaurant closed December & January but no one told us before we arrived.
Review 13:Helpful, friendly family run business. Well located with fantastic views.
Review 14:Car noise but hey the hotel is along the sea front and you have to expect a certain amount of noise. Walls were a little thin and you could hear quite a lot of other guests
Review 15:Waking up to the sound of the ocean early morning and the lovely view. Traditional breakfast. Location was fantastic. Easy walk into town in the evenings. Good parking at the hotel.
Review 16:The staff was really less than pleasant, all around. They chose to understand our language one minute and not the next; in all it felt like they could have cared less that we were there. Perhaps the result of the end of a busy summer season? None the less..... And the breakfast was mediocre and over priced at best.
Review 17:The location was terrific at the entrance to town and overlooking the beach---a bit of a walk for dinner/exploring, but good all in all. Parking was simple, and the hotel was easy to find. We upgraded our room, so overlooking the sea made the experience more special.
Review 18:Nothing - a totally underrated hotel and restaurant!!
Review 19:We only stayed at this hotel because of the positive reviews....and we weren't disappointed!. Our room had a fabulous view over the bay. We might not have had a hairdryer, but everything else in our room/bathroom was3-4* quality, as was the food and customer service. We were made to feel very welcome, and felt at home straight away. Our evening meal was fabulous, and the wine selected by our waiter was not what we would have chosen...but probably ended up being even better!! The location of the hotel was perfect for us, with easy access to the beach and promenade. We only booked for one night and now wished we'd booked for more...so we've already decided to return next year!!
Review 20:Having to leave.
Review 21:Family owned for three generations, with a nice young proprietor. Food in restaurant was very good and good value. Very good advice on wines.
Review 22:We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Galets. The staff were very pleasant and the restaurant provides excellent food. Breakfast and evening dinner is taken on the terrasse which has breathtaking views across the bay. We would certainly recommend this hotel. David Ost.
Review 23:The room was very sparsely furnished. There was no soap or shampoo provided (fortunately we had our own). The hotel is built on the side of the hill and you have to be a mountain goat to haul your luggage up to the reception . No offer of help about this or anything else from the very off-hand staff who one felt really couldn't be bothered or were not in the slightest bit interested. Won't go again...the Hotel Key Largo at the other end of town is cheaper, much nicer staff and a better hotel all round!
Review 24:We only stayed for one night at the beginning of this week. The room was clean and had a lovely view of the sea which is why we assume it was so pricey.
Review 25:We loved room one. We had a big terrace and beautiful views of the sea. Morning breakfast was really good. The staff is awesome. They were very attentive and helped us with restaurant confirmations and taxis. Great location for walking.
Review 26:We did book the budget room, which of course restricted us a little. It was small overlooking the sea, but next time would book one with a balcony. Also one had to share a toilet with two other rooms. No hairdryer. First time I have been caught out. Not suitable for people who have difficulty walking as the steps are very steep to rooms. I would say not suitable for children also.
Review 27:Very close to the beach. Walking distance from some very lovely restaurants especially in the back streets of the town centre. On the bus route to Toulon and Bandol if you didn't want to walk. The hotel was quite lovely, well attended garden. We didn't eat in the hotel as there was so many different places to eat breakfast and dinner within walking distance.
Review 28:Disabled access is tricky, simply because this is a historic building constructed to take great advantage of the views of the Bay, with no possibility of a lift being retrofitted
Review 29:Fabulous view from the terrasse, which is used to great effect as a dining venue. Breakfasts on the terrasse Highly professional way in which refurbishment and maintenance has been carried out in this historic building. Friendliness of the owner, his family, and his staff. A great team. Dinner one evening in the restaurant. We loved being in Bandol, right on the beach, and just five minutes to the centre of this resort Free parking
Review 30:Easy to park at the hotel. Close to a sandy beach. For breakfast, we sat outside at a table in the garden and also took some apricots from the tree above. We enjoyed a relaxing meal in the evening - good service although a bit more expensive than in town.
Review 31:The steps from the road to reception can be a little tiring on a hot day! But it keeps one fit!
Review 32:The position of the Hotel is ideal for the nearby beach, Bandol & being able to park close by. The room with a balcony was superb with fabulous views over the bay. Equally so the restaurant, we had an excellent meal on the terrace. We enjoyed our short stay there. We miss the friendly cockatoo & his/her singing.
Review 33:Wonderful view and comfortable room. The staff were extremely helpful and onsite parking was a plus.
Review 34:Lots of stairs to negotiate with baggage.
Review 35:Beautiful view of the sea. East to walk to restaurants and the oceanfront.
Review 36:Some of the decor was appearing tired, but this was being updated during our stay.
Review 37:Great location with views across the bay.
Review 38:Excellent location right on the coast, although a few minutes walk to restaurants, shops etc. Magnificent sea view from the room and balcony
Review 39:Very sparse room
Review 40:View from room
Review 41:It is further out of town than I had thought.
Review 42:We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our window.
Review 43:The view
Review 44:THE VIEW AND SETTING WERE AMAZING. EXCELLENT FOOD, GOOD SERVICE. GREAT LOCATION.
Review 45:Very helpful staff, excellent evening meal, a great view, and a good night's sleep
Review 46:La situation exceptionnelle, la vue
Review 47:No coffee in room
Review 48:Brilliant view, large bathroom
Review 49:Gorgeous view, friendly helpful staff, family run business, exceptionally clean and tidy, great food at restaurant.
Review 50:Nothing.
Review 51:Beautiful views. Great location.
Review 52:no shower,just bath,spray head.
Review 53:good value,beautiful sea view from room,pleasant staff,good food.
Review 54:Can't think of anything
Review 55:Fantastic location and view. Staff friendly and price very reasonable for what we got. very quiet as on end of building.
Review 56:Family run, friendly, helpful.
Review 57:Great location near the beach.
Review 58:The limited restaurant menu didn't change daily but the food quality was excellent.
Review 59:Position, friendly helpful staff, room quality (No 1)
Review 60:The noise from the road Breakfast could have come with some fresh fruit as wellas the usual pastries etc
Review 61:The views The advise
Review 62:Room , bathroom , food , staff , parking,view everything excellent , will stay again for longer .
Review 63:The panoramic view from our balcony was amazing. The hotel is traditional rustic style. Beach across the road and only 10 minute walk to the town with restaurants and shops. Good free parking. Good breakfast.
Review 64:nothing
Review 65:perfect location with sea view. close to the harbor with shops and restaurants. Beautiful sand beach. very friendly staff and fantastic restaurant
Review 66:This hotel is absolutely perfect!!! We took apartament for 5, standard was very good with amazing view on the sea and lovely garden in the back. I recommend without any hesitation to everyone. Great atmosphere and friendy staff was also huge plus! very close to center of city, 5min by walk, free parking
Review 67:There wasn't anything we didn't like. We highly recommend Les Galets as a very serene, and recuperative experience.
Review 68:We liked everything. The view was absolutely phenomenal. We had breakfast everyday on our terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. Our room was very clean and had sufficient storage space. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Michelle took care of every detail for us. We definitely want to go back again.
Review 69:Exactly what you hope to find in a small, family-run hotel on the Riviera! And if you have one of the rooms with the "vue panoramique" on the water, it's magic. The location - a pleasant, 5-minute stroll away from the bustling main drag was ideal for us as was the hotel's restaurant.
Review 70:Walls are thin between rooms, easy to hear neighbours. Slightly old fashioned feel. No Tea and Coffee facilities in room (but that's normal for France). Our room, at least, while comfortable was a bit small, but it's a 2 star hotel, so can't expect a palace. Overall pros outweigh cons.
Review 71:The Location, That it's a family run buiness, for 3 generations, that they keep it up to date (although you can tell it's origins go back a few years). Staff friendliness. Decent breakfast (by French standards)
Review 72:We were very pleased with our stay at the hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has the feel of a modern family hotel. The views from the room were fabulous. Breakfast is taken overlooking the bay ! We would certainly stay here again.
Review 73:A bit difficult for those do not climb lots of stairs well. Ask for a room on the top street level. Number ten is very nice.
Review 74:If you are seeking French charm instead of universal modernity, this is the place for you. A bit quirky, but absolutely wonderful in every phase. The views are stunning, the room was comfortable with a large bed and the shower had lots of hot water. Try eating your breakfast on your balcony, a great experience with the typical French breakfast of croissants, crusty bread and jams, good coffee and juice, all for 8 euros and a beautiful view. Dinner is excellent with limited choices, but they are all seasonally special. Very nice staff.
Review 75:Coffee at breakfast time - as in so many hotels, even in France - is not too good, but this is a minor criticism. Otherwise, the breakfast is fine.
Review 76:A friendly and relaxed ambiance - this is a family-run hotel, and the staff and family are very genial and welcoming. We had a room with a sea view and a good-sized balcony (with not only a table & 2 chairs, but also a sun lounger, and an awning which could be wound down during the hottest part of the day.) There is a delightful shaded balcony/terrace for all guests, where one can have breakfast or just while away the time, with a view through acacia trees to the sea. The evening meal is excellent. And there is a nice sandy beach just across the road.
Review 77:Couldn't possibly think of a negative
Review 78:Hotel is in an excellent location overlooking the bay, with superb dining with panoramic views. Stall is friendly and well trained. Restaurant is excellent as well, but does not serve lunch Tues. and Wed. However, there are many fine restaurants in Bandol. I don't know about their language skills, as we are also French-speaking, but there was an American couple there, and they were very pleased as well.
Review 79:Minor issues. No night desk. So had to take key. Wifi didn't reach to bedroom. Narrow access for car.
Review 80:Spacious comfortable room. Large terrace. Next to beach, yet away from main road and town bustle. Good service. Free on site parking. Better than its two stars. Good price.
Review 81:The bad:1. 8 EUR/person for their breakfast was a bit of a poor value. Consisted of croissants, mini-baguette, coffee/tea, OJ (not fresh squeezed), jam, butter, and yogurt upon request. The croissants were good but not nearly as fantastic as straight from the bakery which was easily walk-able. Same goes for the mini baguette. Jams were good, though. But really, you could make that up with some fresh market fruit for half the cost. Or, go to another cafe and pay 5.50EUR for the same. 2. Heat control in the room was a bit of an issue. It was advertised as no A/C, which is fine but it was difficult to keep the place cool enough to sleep comfortably. We could open the windows and shutters but then we're subject to the street noise and cicadas. 3. The WiFi didn't work the whole time we were there. At best, I connected and it took Google a literal minute to load. When I asked the owner about it, they said there was nothing they could do. No access at all in our room - but this is variable considering the layout. 4. A day before arriving, I sent an e-mail asking for advice about getting there from the train station and never got a response. Turns out there is a bus that we could have taken but we ended up walking with our backpacks (20+ minutes). Cabs were not easy to come by. A phone may have very likely helped us here so I'm not "taking off any points" for this. The onsite restaurant looks great but was out of our budget so we didn't get to eat there. Prix fixe menu was 27 EUR.
Review 82:My girlfriend and I booked an Economy Room a for few days ago (mid-July)and stayed 2 nights. Our experience was not negative but nothing towrite home about. Full disclosure: we are travelling on a budget - not astudent budget, but still. Hence the economy room! The good: 1. The bed was really comfortable. Sufficient and supportive pillows to boot! 2. Price for a room was good. $90/night. 3. Room had a shower (WC in hall) 4. View of the water (obstructed) 5. About a 10-15 minute walk from the main strip...which I like because that means we are far enough away from the noise without having to take a bus. Overall, the hotel was OK. Staff was increasingly warm, and helped us book a taxi back up to the train station. However, they didn't know what the fare would be nor could they provide accurate info on the bus to the station. I would have done more research myself but I didn't want to lug around the laptop since the WiFi wasn't working. They do seem committed to improving as they asked me to leave feedback with Booking.com, whether it was negative or positive. I really do appreciate that. I would still probably recommend this place for budget travel given the price point in comparison to the rest of Bandol. However, be warned that the place is mostly older couples and families. Definitely didn't feel in place with our big ol' backpacks. Bandol is a great little beach town - busy but didn't feel crowded. Plenty of shopping and restaurants and about average price for the area. We are in Cannes now, which is a bit more spendy.
Review 83:If you're driving make sure you have a small car for parking The manager not welcoming or helpful typical French attitude to an English speaking guest
Review 84:Not much
Review 85:It would be nice if the hotel provided small seats for the beach. Theone's for hire were 16 euros a day each.
Review 86:The hotel was so near the beach, just across the road. It was also nearBandol town, and the walk along the boardwalk was very pleasant for anevening's drink.
Review 87:Bad access busy road between hotel and beach comfort and style stuck in 70s/80s - needs a proper refurb
Review 88:Very friendly Close to the beach Generally cozy hotel
Review 89:The restaurant menu seems not to vary very often.
Review 90:The location is utterly outstanding, stunning views from our inexpensive and very comfortable room. Spotlessly clean and tidy, very quiet. Excellent simple breakfast in the room. The restaurant was also good, with excellent service.
Review 91:The location was really good. 1 min to the beach and 5 mins to the town.
Review 92:Breakfast range could be improved.
Review 93:Lovely staff - restaurant meal was amazing great flavour and reasonably priced.
Review 94:Location and views
Review 95:Friendly staff
Review 96:Beautiful view on the sea Restaurant is very good Friendly atmosphere
Review 97:Walls were a little thin
Review 98:Parking, easy access to the room, easy walking into bandol town
Review 99:a little old fashioned, maybe.
Review 100:Location, Family Run business for 3 generations
Review 101:Wi-Fi was unreliable
Review 102:Great location and views, family run and attentive service.
Review 103:Lack of A/C in economy room and a little far from th city center
Review 104:Very close to the beach
Review 105:Nothing
Review 106:A Hotel with a warm friendly atmosphere situate over a lovely bay - fab food and service and room - wish our stay had been longer
Review 107:Poor Food
Review 108:Great Hotel and Position
Review 109:Proximity to beach Wonderful sea view newly refurbished to high standard Breakfast served on our private terrace at no extra cost
Review 110:The location was beautiful. The balcony looking out on to ocean waslovely and the room was very large by French standards.
Review 111:nice location comfortable and friendly
Review 112:Wi Fi a bit sticky, might have been me though!
Review 113:Lovely view from a clean and comfortable room
