Reviews for Hôtel Au Grand Duquesne
Review 1:Staff seemed not very motivated to make our stay enjoyable. We asked an extra blanket, but that was impossible. So we did not stay for breakfast (€10-p.p.) but went to the local pub for a good coffee and croissant, which was a much better option
Review 2:room in the centre of Dieppe on a walking distance from the shops and the beach.
Review 3:They no longer have a website which is how we've booked in the past. Wanted dinner bed and breakfast deal which couldn't be booked through Booking.com. Booked thinking we could upgrade on arrival but were told we couldn't which made the whole thing very expensive. For this reason I think I would stay elsewhere in the future.
Review 4:Love this hotel. Fantastic restaurant.
Review 5:I booked two nights through Booking.com with inclusive breakfast for 128 euros; I was charged 128 euros for room plus 32 for breakfast which was contrary to my booking; great stay but meant that I didn't leave 20+ euros as a staff tip and might as well have booked direct. May be down to Booking.com rather than the hotel? Otherwise, there was nothing not to like about the hotel.
Review 6:Very close to the centre;tastefully furnished; warm; friendly staff; excellent restaurant
Review 7:I liked everything
Review 8:We arrived very late in the rain but there was someone there to greet us The room was extremely clean and the breakfast good and it was very central with free parking outside until 9am
Review 9:Carpet on the relatively steep stairway was worn through on the landing and could present a hazard. On street parking, with a maximum 2.5 hours but adequate for our stay. Buy your ticket the evening before and it will last until 11.30 the next day.
Review 10:A great location in the heart of town, next to the Church of St Jacques, good shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed a great breakfast. Twin beds were almost new and linen was clean. Bath with integrated shower.
Review 11:We were allocated a room involving lots of stair climbing however when we mensioned it we were immediately offered a ground floor room, which was clean, great shower, and airy. Friendly staff.
Review 12:Problem with stairs but next time we would ask for a room on a lower level.
Review 13:Helpful staff, pleasant atmosphere, good breakfast, excellent restaurant. Excellent central location for the harbour exploring Dieppe
Review 14:Despite having 2 separate iphones, each with a different provider, etc. and an ipad, was never able actually to access wifi. From timer to time the hotel's wifi was displayed as available, but connection was always impossible..
Review 15:Location in Centre of town.
Review 16:The location was ideal and the facilities were confartable and clean. We were arriving on the late ferry and when I spoke to them by phone from the the ferry they were vey accomadating.
Review 17:Clean but threadbare towels and some carpets, no tea facilities in the rooms. Couldn't access wifi on my phone!
Review 18:Friendly staff, central location, fresh smelling sheets. Comfy bed, nice rooms, good value overall.
Review 19:The hotel was central although parking was very difficult and the reception having limited English couldn't help with exact details how where to park.
Review 20:The breakfast was good, and the waitress very helpfull.
Review 21:1. Unable to check-in earlier than 17:00 meant hanging around in town. 2. No convenient place to park car to unload luggage. 3. No lift/elevator despite room being on fourth floor, be warned!
Review 22:The view from the window of room 12 truly felt influenced by the French Bohemian lifestyle and was very "Moulin Rouge" indeed! Relaxed breakfast.
Review 23:No soundproofing on floor from room above, so it was noisy. We unfortunately had noisy guests above us when we stayed. No lift and had very heavy suitcase to carry up and down. Fortunately the very helpful staff took my suitcase up for me
Review 24:Very helpful staff. Central location , with a balcony to look out onto the church. Nice restaurant
Review 25:Advertised free wifi would not connect to internet, despite help from staff. Beware of this if you re a business person dependent on wifi. Our room was on 3rd floor and no lift. This is not a suitable hotel for anyone with limited mobility or the elderly. The reception desk is in the ground-floor restaurant. It is clear that restaurant is first priority - hotel seems an afterthought. No downstairs seating for hotel guests, just set dinner tables.Bathroom was poky and strange lidded toilet roll holder projected into limited toilet space. Too many inconveniences to rate this hotel highly.
Review 26:Central location.
Review 27:No parking and very noisy street noise in the morning from 6.30 onwards from refuse lorry, street cleaning machine and then seagulls - windows open but it was warm! On 3rd floor but if you had to struggle with large case it would be a problem but not for us
Review 28:Lovely room - better than we booked and location was good for restaurants etc
Review 29:The shower was very small and had no exhaust fan, so the steam had nowhere to go. Bed wasn't particularly comfortable.
Review 30:The lady at the bar/reception desk was very friendly, and despite admitting her English wasn't great actually spoke very good English (helpful because my French is shocking!) The breakfast seemed a little pricey, but actually was very nice. A nice selection and plenty of food! Room was clean and had all you needed for an overnight stay.
Review 31:We are fit and healthy but the stairs (narrow & windy) and lack of lift would be deal breakers for some people. Some staff spoke zero English. If you are a light sleeper the seagulls early in the morning will be a disturbance. Not really suitable if you are coming and going with bikes.
Review 32:The location is ideal - it couldn't be any more central. We were able to check in at 2.30 pm, well before the advertised time of 5pm.
Review 33:Not being able to check in until 5.00pm. Wardrobe door was not fixed towardrobe, could have been dangerous for small children (we were in afamily room) no notification to say there was a small step on the otherside of the fire exit
Review 34:Location of hotel and convenienece.BEEN THERE BEFORE SO WAS FAMILIAR WITH WHAT WAS ON OFFER
Review 35:none of the staff spoke English so no check info about breakfast... also they didn't tell us about a Saturday market that took over the town which resulted in our car being completely blocked in and missing our ferry, we re booked on the next one and only made that with minutes to spare...
Review 36:the position of the hotel was good, easy to get to the restaurants and bars, that's if you could find a bar open after about 9...
Review 37:Breakfast. Cereal was on table but no milk or bowls offered. Bed uncomfortable, lamps and taps needed attention. Coming in through the restaurant to check in.
Review 38:Ann Marie who checked us in. Location.
Review 39:Awfull personal and missing info on their web page. Reduce mobility peopñe were comming and our room was un forth plant without elevator. No sign of this info on their web page. No apologies for it. Next day nobody cleaned the room and the reson was that person in charge had to leave. I won't recommend this hotel un general.
Review 40:Good location
Review 41:Room clean and comfortable, staff welcoming, location great in centre of sopping area, and easy walk to the Quay side bars and restaurants. Hotel right in the middle of the Saturday market ! Would stay again.
Review 42:Breakfast disappointing and over priced. Shower cubicle very small Rooms accessible by windy staircases which go on forever.
Review 43:Comfortable bed , great position for exploring Dieppe.
Review 44:The location in the centre of Dieppe was ideal as we were taking the ferry to Newhaven the following morning. The hotel was small, clean with a brilliant restaurant full of locals who clearly appreciated good food, great atmosphere, great French food. We only stayed one night but it was a perfect choice and will certainly return. There is no lift however, our room was on the third floor which didn't really matter to us but if someone has mobility issues it could pose a problem.
Review 45:Tiny bathroom with hardly room to turn round in. No hot water or heating because the boiler broke but no apology. No lift Bedside draw would not stay closed so made getting in and out of bed difficult. Just not very helpful or friendly - all a bbit amateur
Review 46:The location - in the middle of town
Review 47:Location of hotel and restaurant downstairs
Review 48:bed was too short Breakfast not included in room price
Review 49:Great location Nice room with a view of the cathedral
Review 50:third floor room with balcony - very French feel

Review 61:Location excellent, friendly staff, room clean & comfortable.
Review 62:Not applicable
Review 63:Nice staff, great location, value for money, clean.
Review 64:Reception is closed from 3 - 5pm. The ferry gets in at 3pm, so very annoying! WiFi didn't work on 3rd floor
Review 65:Location, comfy bed
Review 66:How helpful the staff were
Review 67:The bells of the church next door made an appalling racket in the morning
Review 68:Things were as expected and as advertised
Review 69:It wasn't suitable for older guests due to the steep stairs and no lift
Review 70:nothing comes to mind
Review 71:the upgrade to a suite
Review 72:mill location overlooking little river and animals in field
Review 73:Pas d'ascenseur.mais pour 3 étages avec peu de bagage cela reste correct.
