Reviews for Auberge Saint Pierre
Review 1:nothing really, a bit pricey but, hey, considering the location... hotel guests also need to take the shuttle to the hotel
Review 2:location and magical atmosphere, strolling at night and sunrise through the alleys and around the abbey, visit of the abbey, good restaurant, room decoration
Review 3:The bartender at the restaurant seems a bit unfriendly and not willing to serve us. We did enjoy our meal and some staff were friendly but the bartender seemed bothered by us sitting for a drink and staying at the same table for for dinner. We realize that we were there at off season (which we loved due to the no crowds) but it was a bit bothersome especially since we paid for our night lodging, dinner, and breakfast.
Review 4:We really liked staying so close to the abbey and being able to spend the night exploring Mount Michel. The room was small but very comfortable.
Review 5:A little bit more information on car parking and payment, the bus (where, when) and a really strong warning not to bring luggage.
Review 6:Fantastic to be on the Island, walk around the magnificent cathedral and all the historic buildings. Spectacular views everywhere, fascinating historic site yet still an operating village.
Review 7:This can be a good or not so good thing depending on one's perception - my room is located outside to the hotel, in a very peaceful spot in "Les Logis du Chapeau Blanc", many stairs to climb to get there and it is near an old cemetery (though beautiful)! Also, room and beds are very small.
Review 8:Tranquil, beautiful sea view in the dawn and dusk, shine or rain. Very cute room with an old charm. Hotel reception lady is elegant and very friendly.
Review 9:The changing Seaview from our charming, old world room. The modern bathroom facilities. Very comfy beds. Professional staff, especially Marine. Outstanding menu choices available at the restaurant. Ability to roam the ever changing views from the ramparts and alleys early in the morning and late at night without large tourist groups. This was our second visit and it is still a wondrous relaxing experience.
Review 10:We had some problems with wifi and had no TV in the morning. Perhaps it was not such a bad idea, we were truly away from it all.
Review 11:We loved the lovely ancient building with all the modern amenities. The staff were genuinely a pleasure to meet. The island room was so quiet that we almost missed our checkout time! We loved our ocean view room, great for that special night.
Review 12:Reception person when I checked in was not at all welcoming. She seemed very annoyed with me. However, the fellow when I checked out was the opposite--extremely helpful and cordial.
Review 13:Very quiet rooms in spite of being on a noisy street; no sound came through. Well-equipped bathroom. Great location for exploring the walled city.
Review 14:Room not connected to hotel proper. Up and up and up another steep hill, no view, expensive. Stay on the other side of the bridge to the abbey. Nicer hotels, better food and there is a free shuttle to the abbey every 15 minutes.
Review 15:It was clean.
Review 16:Very small rooms, truly terrible food in the restaurant. Then again the whole island had pitiful food catering to mass tourist bus arrivals.
Review 17:Great location within the city walls with direct access to ramparts. The staff are excellent.
Review 18:We wouldn't recommend getting the dinner/breakfast package. Very expensive for the quality.
Review 19:A once in a lifetime experience to stay on the Mont and see the sunrise. A small room but luxurious in the details. Linens, towels, focused lighting by the bed all added to the feeling of luxury.
Review 20:Long walk from main hotel - up hill. Do not bring large suit case. Take what is necessary in a back pack or over night case
Review 21:Comfortable but small twin beds. I tended to roll to middle of the 2 twins due to mattress. Had a refrigerator and a partial view of sea
Review 22:The breakfast was overpriced, the lady in charge was terrific but just average..paid 17 euro for a 8 euro breakfast.
Review 23:Lovely room with great amenities, staff were they please tell and helpful.
Review 24:Hot water in sink, but only lukewarm water or cold on shower. My sister stayed in a separate room and had the same situation.
Review 25:Rooms were charming. Bed comfortable. Location perfect.
Review 26:Not a place to stay if you have luggage as there is no lift and steep stairs and you have no way to get the luggage to the hotel as the shuttle parks a long way away .
Review 27:The location is ideal.
Review 28:It is very expensive to stay on the island and breakfast is also very expensive for what it is.
Review 29:Staying on Mont St Michel was a great experience. The accommodation whilst small suited our needs perfectly.
Review 30:The appeal is all about the grand edifice, Mont St. Michel. The hotel room is small and non descript. Would be a Holiday Inn at home. But expensive because it's on site. Tiniest WC I have ever seen. Nice shower and bath. We took the half board deal. Dinner and Breakfast included. Dinner was "different" but not bad. Bfast was only ok. Once in a lifetime. Would not return.
Review 31:What an experience, being able to stay on the island of St Mont Michel. Our room was comfortable but also part of the historical experience. Looking out from our window and down the street, I thought I was looking at Diagon Alley. (No wizards thought, lots of tourists.)
Review 32:Unexpectedly comfortable room in the heart of medieval place, very0very special place. It's expensive a bit but worth it. Spending the night right at Le Mont Saint Michel - you have to do it!
Review 33:The location is brilliant. Room 106 has dual aspect over Grande Rue. Hotel also has private access to walls, which is a bit special. Staying just out of season means no crowds so you're free to explore unhindered by the usual masses. Fabulous to be there at night.
Review 34:Small rooms, long line to check out
Review 35:Location is excellent, nice hotel with a very pleasant stuff, wifi works great, tiny rooms though, but you don't come to the mont to stay in the room! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel
Review 36:Great location. Exit right onto ramparts from 3rd floor. 4 bed family room very comfy for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We did the Abbey tour at night and so it was very nice to not have to trek back to hotel on mainland.
Review 37:No elevator, no wifi in the room. Staff unable to get it in the lobby. No more than two or three hours on the island (unless you are a serious student of architecture) should be more than enough.
Review 38:The devoted staff
Review 39:The sofa bed was rather grimy with only a sheet on it and a very old looking blanket in the cupboard.
Review 40:It's very exciting arriving on the island and walking up through the gates and the narrow street to find the hotel. We renamed it Diagon Ally! The hotel is not far up but after checking in we were shown up to our room, which was much further up the mount. I had a big smile on my face the whole way up, while trying not to lose our guide amongst all the people because the place is so like something from Harry Potter!
Review 41:The room was extremely small. Quite expensive.
Review 42:The location is great -- right in the center of Mont Saint Michel. However, there are free shuttle buses to from the continent until 24:00, so location might not be a killer argument in favor. Staff was very nice. We could see the abbey from our window.
Review 43:I would suggest staying off the island or not bringing any luggage. There are lockers at the shuttle so you do not need to leave your stuff in your car.
Review 44:Our favorite part was the view from the shuttle drop-off point.
Review 45:room in different building than main hotel, slightly difficult to find when returning at night. Wifi not working well at times and Seagulls start screaming loudly at 4am, good wakeup if you want to join the monks prayer at 6:30... Extremely overpriced for what it is, at least if rooms would be gorgeous boutique style decorated...
Review 46:The staff were all nice. Good location between Main Street & Abbey. Very clean. Beds very soft, makes you sleep more than usual. Their restaurant the only one that opens till late and gives you a chance to not be starved after a day of busy picture taking.
Review 47:No AC, but depending on the time of year, probably not necessary..we were there on an unusually hot day. Don't buy the breakfast it included stale bread and there were flies on the food, NOT worth 17euro. You can walk 1 min in both directions and have fabulous, fresh looking omelets for the same price...
Review 48:Location! Great experience to say at the actual Mont St Michel. Such a great experience for our family. The staff is friendly, the hotel ancient and neat. Kids loved it. If you can swing it, its worth a night.
Review 49:Lovely rooms in a 15 century historic building. Providing modern luxury while maintaining the style of the period. A fantastic view up to the Abbey and along the main street.
Review 50:Not the hotel's fault but there is quite a hike up hill with luggage to reach anything on Mt. Saint Michel - no cars allowed. Also the island itself is packed so there isn't much sense of peace or privacy around. Breakfast is rather expensive for what it was.
Review 51:The rooms we stayed in were delightful, comfortable and full of old world charm. I also appreciated the fact that we didn't have to walk too far to reach the hotel itself
Review 52:The level of service was impeccable. We called for late arrival and they were very helpful and understanding. Then we arrived in the middle of the night, the whole town dark and quiet and Alexander, the night portier, popped out from nowhere and helped us to our room high up on the city side.
Review 53:WiFi was advertised but very weak. No employee available for "Express Breakfast". One couple waited and then left.
Review 54:Location was wonderful. Could step right out to ramparts of Mont Saint Michel. Rooms were small but expected due to age of building. Very clean and good view from room. Being on the island was well worth the money!
Review 55:Seemed pricey but maybe that's to be expected for location etc al. Only stayed one night so call it a splurge.
Review 56:Bathroom was awesome and slept like a baby. Great setting in room detached from main hotel. Right in the heart of the cool medieval village.
Review 57:We only brought day bags/small back packs thankfully. DO NOT bring much/any luggage--- it would be a nightmare. Make sure you highlight and stress this to all people making reservations
Review 58:Great location in fascinating place. Wonderful staff and rooms. Restaurant is one of only 2 on the Island open after about 7. Rooms were clean and comfortable-- nicely done with great views.
Review 59:Needs to note that there is no lift!
Review 60:We loved everything. The concierge just made our stay with 14 people quite a memorable event! At the last moment, she arranged a birthday dinner for our dear friend We will recommend this to all of our friend!
Review 61:The breakfast was not worth it. Don't get it.
Review 62:Our goal was to stay on the island, and it was worth it. It is way better to pay the extra € and explore the island after hours and early in the morning when no tourists are there. The room wasn't spectacular, the view was of a wall of another building, but the location is what you're looking for.
Review 63:Access was difficult. No cars, shuttle dropped remotely. Steep climb and many, many stairs with overnight luggage a turn-off. Pricey for what it was. Overall, rather a tourist trap.
Review 64:Charming place with lots of history
Review 65:Bed was comfy, but two single beds pushed together rather than a double. Though it was a bit stingy we only got one bar of soap, given we were a couple
Review 66:Location. Nice room with wooden beams etc View of abbey
Review 67:Hotel was fine, although probably tiniest room I've ever stayed in! I probably wouldn't stay right on the island again and only make a day trip over, but that is just my personal opinion and nothing against hotel.
Review 68:Cute, quaint hotel on main street ... and still quiet.
Review 69:The room was small (too much furniture), but it was very well appointed and the bathroom was newly renovated and very clean. Don't plan on sleeping in...by 6:00am the shop owners are starting to arrive and the carts on the cobblestone streets...oh my! But loved the location!!!
Review 70:We arrived at 5:00 pm (just as most of the tourists were leaving) and had the island to ourselves...really cool area! Our room was on the top floor facing the street, but we had a view of the abbey...wow!!! The staff was very nice and helpful
Review 71:With 4 in a room, have to go up the Mont higher than the main building which is down lower. Have stayed in both. The upper units are just as comfortable, but not quiet as romantic appearing. A bit more modern.
Review 72:Location on the Mont makes a huge difference in the experience. There were four of us and the room had 4 twin beds in one room. Nice bathroom and shower. Very comfortable and quiet.
Review 73:the room was small....but that's ok....the only thing i would say is that the hotel didn't let me know that no one is there for you to check out, until 8 am. we had to leave at 7:30 am...we left a note, but, the cleaning lady was having a hard time understanding what i was doing....it was a little stressful...so, don't plan on leaving very early...
Review 74:the hotel is right on mont st michel...and that says it all! to be staying on the mont is fantastic....it is a beautiful spot to see. the hotel is an old hotel, but the rooms are kept up...the rooms are small, but, doable. the bathroom is nice...it is new and very clean. they had a towel rack heater which was a nice surprise. the wifi was free.
Review 75:There was nothing that we didn't like. Everything was perfect.
Review 76:Our room had an upstairs so I was able to sleep in the extra room above. My friend took the lower room. The bathroom was very nice too. We also liked the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and our meal fantastic. I had the roast rack of lamb. The receptionist was also very friendly.
Review 77:This hotel room was very cramped and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The toilet and shower were claustrophobic. Additionally, my husband was bitten all over his legs by bed bugs! I definitely would not stay here again.
Review 78:Location and free wifi were the best parts of this hotel.
Review 79:The room was cold despite adjusting the heating I could not connect to wifi - could not find your network
Review 80:Very friendly and helpful staff The food at the restaurant and the service was very good
Review 81:Everything the Mount is magical the room was soooo quaint in style and modern in fabrication. From the windows it was like being in a Harry Potter movie you could see so much and the ambience was amazing.
Review 82:We liked the room and the breakfast, but most of all, we were very impressed by the excellent service. The hotel charges were high, but not out of line given that we were on the island. This meant we could go and see the Abbey early.
Review 83:Breakfast is availbale for an extra charge of €17, with a selection of savoury and sweet options. The quality of the food served was quite poor and definitely not worth what you pay for it. There's not many options for breakfast in town though and generally food on the Island is overpriced. I guess it's the price you have to pay for the exclusive experience of staying in Mont Saint Michel overnight. Was not particularly pleased with the fact that the staff at reception was constantly on the phone and kept us waiting all the time. Be aware that like most buildings on the island, this hotel has rooms spread over several floors and different locations, so you may have to climb a lot of steps. Being pregnant, I asked to have a room with easy access and the staff was very accomodating on that front.
Review 84:Nice and cozy hotel just a few minutes away from the entrance to the Island. Overall it is a good choice for those who want to experience the Island overnight. Our room was rather small, but tastefully decorated and felt very cozy.
Review 85:- Pack lightly as for its a good walk from the bus stop, especially once they fully open the new bridge and remove the causeway.
Review 86:- Nicely located a short walk from the main gate. - Restaurant located on the first floor, good food. - Staff friendly/helpful.
Review 87:Enjoyed our Anniversary trip and our stay at Auberge Saint Pierre. We were greeted warmly by the hosts and given all the information we needed to enjoy our stay.
Review 88:The secondary location to Auberge St. Pierre is rather cumbersome and difficult, especially if one has suitcases, such as we did. It was a daunting climb of many stairs and we were placed at the very top floor, with narrow spiral stairs, which made it even more difficult to move with suitcases. If one plans to travel here, it should be with a small overnight bag only.
Review 89:The restaurant was friendly and offered good service.
Review 90:2 twin beds pushed together to make a queen size for my wife and I. That's it!
Review 91:Charming Quaint Location right on the mount in the center of town Nicely decorated Nice staff
Review 92:Be aware lots of stairs.
Review 93:This is the only way to stay and enjoy Mount. St. Michel after the crowds leave. Our room was away from the main building and it was adorable. Still had the feel of being in an old hotel but everything had been modernized. Just a fantastic stay.
Review 94:Staff ran you up and down stairs with your bags like it was two steps rather than numerous flights. Want to store your bags, told to take them downstairs, person there says upstairs, no downstairs two flights. Breakfast servers curt and rude. Any one in their right mind would only go once
Review 95:The room itself was very nice, bed very comfortable. Nice new bath fixtures.
Review 96:St Michel needs to be visited after the tour groups have left at night. If you want to get something more than a crowded walk along one street with frenetic tourists, plan a stay here.
Review 97:as part of a 5 week trip to France, we took one week to explore Normandy and Brittany. Our stay in Hornfleur was a late addition but this hotel was right in the middle of the action and was a welcome night. Very comfortable
Review 98:We stayed during the renovation of the approach road and bridge, so although there is a shuttle, we still had to walk the rest of the way with small children and luggage, but still worth it!
Review 99:The location of the hotel was amazing in this magical location with a really lovely room in a quieter spot with great views. The food was fantastic and also great for the kids, a super holiday break with something different.
Review 100:Had a meal in the restaurant and were over charged for drinks. Was the most expensive meal over two weeks travelling but the most average café style food.
Review 101:Amazing location on Mont St Michel - lovely to stay overnight when it is quiet and the visitors had left Rooms were small but very comfy
Review 102:Absolutely nothing !!
Review 103:Everything . Our room was just beautiful !! The lady inthe office walked us to our room . Awesome!! Very friendly and helpful . What a fabulous place !!!
Review 104:Staff was rude. As rude and nasty as they are to us Americans. Nothing I didn't expect.
Review 105:About the hotel, everything! I absolutely loved it and would stay there again if I go back. An excellent choice for staying on the rock.
Review 106:The hotel staff tried to be helpful but gave us misinformation regarding parking and access to the hotel. Since the ability to get to the hotel is based upon the tide, it would helpful for the staff to provide this information (rather than our standing on the crossing waiting for the water to recede). Precise parking information should be included with the reservation confirmation - the information given was vague and confusing.
Review 107:The hotel, location and amenities were all excellent -- it really enhanced our time on Mont St. Michel.
Review 108:Breakfast is marginal and staff in breakfast room is marginal.
Review 109:Reception staff was excellent and spoke very good English. Very helpful. Very clean room at the top of the building, room 109.
Review 110:There's nothing better then walking in a silent Mont-Saint-Michel at night, when all the tourists have left and you can enjoy it for a peaceful place it is.
Review 111:No air conditioning or fan. The weather was hot and humid which made it hard to sleep.
Review 112:Loved the location. Room was nice. Comfortable beds. Staff was very pleasant.
Review 113:We chose the 'half board' option which included dinner and breakfast. The dinner was reasonable but nothing spectacular. However, the service was appalling. Our young male waiter was rude and supercilious. Cutlery was thrown on to the table. We watched as he insulted a Chinese couple who were trying to order a bottle of wine and then he literally through a bowl of soup at another woman dining near us...but thankfully she caught it before it spilled on to her lap.
Review 114:The location was fantastic and our own private courtyard was delightful, particularly for breakfast. Our welcome was polite and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed with an excellent shower.
Review 115:food was horrible in the hotel restaurant. worst food we've had in a very long time. churn and burn- as Rick Steves said "Mont Saint Michel is grotesquely commercialized". That is an understatement. Would not waste my money or time with this destination. Best part of the trip was driving up to Mont Saint Michel. should have stopped while we were ahead.
Review 116:All great!
Review 117:We were impressed with a newly remodeled room and an efficient and helpful staff at the Mont St. Michel. Since we could sleep with our window open, we were able to enjoy the fresh air and an evening seagull symphony. Wonderful!! The receptionist arranged for a taxi to meet us at the shuttle drop off which we greatly appreciated,
Review 118:No elevator and the luggage storage is in the basement...
Review 119:I've stayed here twice and really like it - location is perfect and rooms are comfortable and charming.
Review 120:Very small bathroom Noisy birds Restaurant quality on the island is low.
Review 121:Unique experience being on the island at night and nice to be in the Abbey without a huge crowd. Room was fine for 4 people.
Review 122:Noisy room.......problems connecting to internet.......staff indifferent.just doing their job going through the motions.....Felt like the hotel cash in on tourists they will never see again
Review 123:No water bottles offered in the room except the expensive minibar, no supermarket around either.
Review 124:Room design
Review 125:The room was clean, the decor was lovely & beds were comfortable. Staff were very polite & friendly.
Review 126:Location & access to the ramparts
Review 127:Breakfast
Review 128:The view is excellent.
Review 129:Room was a little small for two friends. But the location to MSM was fantastic!
Review 130:Price for breakfast
Review 131:Location and coziness.
Review 132:Not as small as expected based on other reviews. Fine for a night.
