Reviews for Egg Hôtel Dieppe

Review 1:Fantastic location, good value for money. Always very clean and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Highly recommended place to stay. Thanks You!!

Review 2:We request for free Wifi in our room, which was promised but we never had. I asked contantly for it but was told to instead get a pass from Orange which isn't free wifi. We had no access to internet all our stay, which is really hard in this day modern time.

Review 3:Easy access to the town and shop, and beautiful views.

Review 4:Just a couple of small points. It stated on my booking "city view" but my "view" was of an orange rendered wall. The booking also stated "alarm clock" but there was no alarm clock, just a digital clock housed in the frame of the bed which didn't work anyway.

Review 5:Great location, this hotel is really all you need for a short stay. Its rated 2 star on the door which is about right but I'm sure you could do a lot worse. The breakfast was good, as much as you want, though the boiled egg machine takes a long time to cook the egg!

Review 6:We found the hotel to be excellent value for money with reasonably priced secure parking and conveniently placed for easy access to ferry terminal, will continue to use on our annual trips to France and will recommend it to all our friends

Review 7:Room similar to double cabin on a boat! Small and compact with not much room to move about...but this is a budget "overnight" hotel after all!

Review 8:Good location and good value for the money. Manager friendly and helpful.

Review 9:Bathroom too small and bunk bed over lapping the double bed

Review 10:The room was clean. Bathroom small but functional could do with decorating. Breakfast was good and the hotel was in the town so as ferry foot passengers it was convenient. I wouldn't stay more than one night though.

Review 11:Good location to bus stop, train station, city life and promenade. The relatively low costs with all basic necessities and very friendly staff made our stay very convenient.

Review 12:I found the doors very heavy to open, but I do have weaker hands than most.

Review 13:Always staff around for any query s Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from.

Review 14:The rubbish coffee machine in our bedroom which we couldn't work as it was over complicated and there was no milk provided(not even powdered milk) - a sachet of Nescafe and a kettle would had done the job far better!

Review 15:1)Extremely courteous & helpful staff 2)The buffet breakfasts were excellent

Review 16:Great value budget hotel which exceeded expectations. All staff very friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. Hotel in great location, just round the corner from the main shopping street and just an easy 5 minute walk to both the sea-front and the SNCF railway station. On checking-out you can leave your luggage & pick-up later. Will definitely be staying there again !

Review 17:Only issue was wifi, where you are emailed a pass code to get online - which cannot be accessed without wifi, for me anyway!

Review 18:Everything was great. Yes it's basic but it does what it says on the tin.

Review 19:The only suggestion I would make to others is to get a room at the front, if available. This is due to supermarket deliveries at the rear of the hotel.

Review 20:For a hotel in the centre of Dieppe that is very competitively priced you could not ask for more. Staffed 24/7 by a friendly, helpful team, this hotel is comfortable and adequate for short stays.

Review 21:Difficulty finding a parking space near the hotel. Found several around the corner and across the road but for the latter one had to negociate the one way system . However there is a garage if one wishes to pay an excessive amount.

Review 22:Hotel provided an excellent breakfast buffet style which was very much appreciated. The hot water was almost boiling and the staff were most helpful and friendly Best of all the code to the room worked and one wasn't left standing frustrated by a card that would not work.

Review 23:The lady at the reception desk was very helpful. The luggage room where you could leave your cases on departure for collection later on in the day was a useful facility.

Review 24:We expected it to be basic but one switch for one light that could notbe reached from the bed. A socket for the computer that was mounted sothat an adaptor could not be used. Our room had a defective plug releasein wash basin which I as an engineer was able to rectify.and the deadbolts of the door did not align with the sockets so were ineffective.Very thin mattress on bed.

Review 25:Excellent breakfast and clean. Friendly staff with good English.Good Wi Fi.

Review 26:Whilst the reception, breakfast room and our bedroom were very clean, the landing carpet (4th Floor) was filthy. Please note that I have never commented on carpets in years of reviewing hotels so it must have been bad!

Review 27:Functional, very handy for the town centre and port, comfortable bed, big bathroom and great value for money.

Review 28:Easy checkin even at 11pm. Room was basic but clean and had a comfy bed. Staff accommodated my bike in a secure room. Breakfast was great and well presented.

Review 29:Sadly we found the bed far too hard and uncomfortable. Hardly slept. Pillows inadequate. Stated there would be complementary coffee cartridges in the room but there were none.

Review 30:Good location straight off the ferry. Breakfast reasonable in peasant surroundings.

Review 31:The reception staff were excellent. We missed our ferry and arrived at 5am but someone was still on hand to greet us. The room was clean & bed comfortable. Perfect for a stop over from or to the ferry.

Review 32:Downside: Small rooms, very basic hotel, uncarpeted stairs (felt like you were still in the car park!)

Review 33:Upside: Lovely helpful staff, good breakfast, fairly clean & close to the ferry port, comes with a car park. Great for a night, maybe 2. Good price

Review 34:The room was bare and characterless, the carpet had a historic sick stain although the room was otherwise clean. The coffee machine broke and therefore we had no access to hot water other than buying drinks from the vending machine downstairs.

Review 35:The situation of the hotel was very convenient for the centre of the town and harbour. Whilst we didn't find the room at all welcoming, it was a larger room that all the others.

Review 36:Room entry code did not work - easily and quickly overcome by giving me an old-fashioned key!

Review 37:24-hour reception, easy parking, and comfortable bed made it easy to get a good night's sleep before a long drive across France, in spite of arriving from the ferry at nearly midnight. Excellent coffee maker in room was a bonus!

Review 38:The location is excellent, and so is the value for money. The accommodation is basic, but clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate. The staff are helpful and the breakfasts are good.

Review 39:Travelled with our young family (1 and 2 year old) for an overnight stay before travelling further south. Hotel staff were welcoming, room was clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast was plentiful and good choice. Basic hotel but you get what you pay for and this proves good value.

Review 40:Didn't include the British flag (or American for the Rangers) intheir Anniversary display. No kettle in room, didn't like thecoffee machine.

Review 41:Great location - close to station, port, beach.

Review 42:It was great that the hotel had coffee and tea facilities in the room. Especially needed when the ferry was 3 hours delayed and we arrived at one in the morning!

Review 43:The coffee machine in the breakfast room is disappointing. We much preferred their old method of having jugs of black coffee and hot milk on a hot plate - it tasted so much better then. Sorry to find apple juice is no longer provided.

Review 44:Pleased to have new thicker towels this time!

Review 45:Very warm when we stayed and unfortunately there was a party going on just down the street so we couldn't have the window/door open due to noise. But that's no fault of the hotel.

Review 46:Very helpful allowing safe storage for all our bikes over night, helped book a reservation at a restaurant for the evening meal. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 47:The hotel had no record of my booking. The receptionist was able to find a room but the room did not have a key or a code so we were unable to leave the room on the Friday night because the door could only be locked from the inside! I also asked for a twin rather than a double but got a three quarter size bed with a top bunk. The whole thing was a total shambles.

Review 48:The only redeeming feature was the receptionist who coped admirably under very difficult circumstances whilst keeping a cheery disposition.

Review 49:Where do I start? A group of us. Rooms whose doors didn't lock. Rooms whose doors didn't open. Reservations lost in the system. People booked into the same room. Incredibly stuffy with no fans or aircon. The worse hotel I have ever been in across Europe.

Review 50:The receptionist was exceptional in the face of the unremitting shambles of the rest of the hotel

Review 51:From the ferry port the drive was less than 10 minutes. Ample secured parking which only cost €4.50 for the night. Great for what we needed, nice breakfast and clean rooms. Would use it again for an overnight stay.

Review 52:Minor but hotel was quite hot and we weren't keen to leave the window open as we were on fifth floor and have a climbing three year old.

Review 53:Simple but comfortable. Double bed with single loft style bed over. Fab hot showers. Espresso machine in room

Review 54:Absolutely nothing

Review 55:Our arrival was met with polite, friendly efficiency and the room and facilities were excellent, parking around back of hotel was secure and inexpensive will use again on our next trip

Review 56:No character; its basic and functional. Back room backs on to supermarket who make midnight very noisy delivery!

Review 57:Very nice staff. Convenient for late night arrival. Very simple but clean and nice sheets. Adequate for our overnight stay.

Review 58:Very good location, close to beach, bus stops and train station, people on desk very friendly and helpful, especially booking a taxi for me for my return to the ferry port.

Review 59:We had no room key and a bunkbed for a 47 year old man was not particularly welcome.

Review 60:Close proximity to Ferry and closeness to Avenue Vert. Very helpful staff and good breakfast

Review 61:Very easy access to ferry port. Great value for the money. Very friendly English speaking staff. Easy access to Dieppe sights and beaches. Parking right behind the hotel for 4.50 euros for 24 hours.

Review 62:The location was convenient to both town and station. It is modern and simply furnished,, even had coffee maker In room. Dieppe is a great destination.

Review 63:I didn't like that the drinks came out of a machine and would have appreciated fresh coffee for breakfast and also some fresh fruit.

Review 64:The location was very good for the Castle and Museum, for the beach and very close to a good shopping area.

Review 65:water dripping from the roof along our window all night long was really loud and annoying.

Review 66:Good value for money, open late, nice staff. This a rebranding of Etap Hotel, so you can expect the same features.

Review 67:Nuclear-shelter-like rooms for the same money as rooms in a chateau. White walls, metal beds, army-like sheets and blankets, small windows. Absolutely no things that could improve the creepy atmosphere (pictures, curtains, ...). This horrible hotel is a real mystery - Normandy is one of the most beatiful parts of the world with the most comfortable accommodation I have ever seen. Do not go to Egg hotel if you are a romantic couple. This hotel might be suitable only for a really tired truck driver, who wants to watch some porn in his room before falling asleep.

Review 68:Location.

Review 69:technical difficulty with booking. the French had also a job to understand my problem.

Review 70:other group of like minded cyclists! local information centre near by.

Review 71:It would be churlish to whinge at this price point. Nicer than many pricier places I've stayed.

Review 72:Needed a bed for the night after ferry and en route to deepest France. This hotel ticked all the boxes, five stars for that purpose. Maybe not as comfy as others for longer stays or romantic stay but great value

Review 73:Coffee machine in foyer not working. Bathroom door would not close. Room door closer not working. No milk in room for coffee. Shower gel empty Items from previous guests found in bathroom. Needs proper clean, a bit grubby. Receptionist not very welcoming.

Review 74:Good location.

Review 75:My husband woke up with 'bites' all over his ankle... obviously from the bed .... this let The Egg down and our 'score' would have been higher ..

Review 76:Nice location, handy for centre of Dieppe, very clean bathroom, sheets, dining area, although the bites to my husbands ankle in the morning let the hotel down, which is a shame as the rest was very good ... would love to be able to visit again in the future if they could guarantee 'no bites'

Review 77:Rather noisy on street outside, so couldn't keep window open. Very hot at night and no aircon.

Review 78:Easy access to room via lift - very helpful as had baby in buggy. Spacious, bright lobby

Review 79:No private parking but cheap on street parking close by - if you can find a space !

Review 80:Close proximity to the town centre, railway station and access routes out of town. Excellent buffet breakfast.

Review 81:Everything was fine.

Review 82:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent. The rooms are simple but they have everything you need. Good storage for bikes, etc.

Review 83:There is a large cupboard under the stairs for storing bikes. The staff are always friendly and the breakfast very good. They even have an egg-boiler (and eggs).

Review 84:Seagulls can be a bit noisy ... but that can't be helped wherever you stay in Dieppe

Review 85:Good choice of breakfast. Helpful staff. Plenty of space for bicycles - nothing is a problem for them

Review 86:the hotel manger puzzled over my confirmation booking. Eventually we were allocated a room.

Review 87:close to road, central to town and harbour. clean basic accommodation suitable for backpacker or traveller

Review 88:I rolled off the Newhaven-Dieppe Ferry at 11pm (as usual there was a yawning great delay between arrival and disembarkation). I drove for 4 minutes from the port on the main drag through Dieppe, parked outside the hotel, and was greeted like royalty. OK, this is basic - it has to be at the price. But when you want to hit the stack after a 4 hour ferry crossing, have a comfortable night's sleep, and then have a brief foray into town for a coffee the following morning (30 seconds walk from the iconic Café des Tribunaux) it's absolutely perfect.

Review 89:When dropping bags etc for storage perhaps some sort of ticket number given to you and put on bags or bike. Wouldn't cost anything on piece of paper. And be a way of identifying as you could have bags that look very similar etc

Review 90:Clean room , hot water morning and night shower

Review 91:The room was a smokers room when we had specifically requested a non-smokers room. When we arrived the room smelt terribly of cigarettes and the door lock was difficult to open.

Review 92:The staff were very friendly, even with the language barrier. The place was clean and modest, and provided you with the amenities you would need. The only suggestion would be the providing of soap in the bathrooms.

Review 93:Excellent sleep. The bed was clean and comfy and room was dark and quiet. Good, hot shower and tasty, healthy breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location.

Review 94:The receptionist was very upset because I did not have €coins and he made me go at midnight, after the whole travel, to go outside and look for a cash machine so I could pay the extra 0,70€ of taxes that they don't take from your card like the rest of the price I really don't understand..... The rest of the staff was fine but nobody speaks English.... So not really helpful... Very very poor the staff really,

Review 95:Location, facilities

Review 96:the curtains were hanging on by a couple of hooks and there was a rip in the curtains - things which are easily remedied. but we reminded ourselves that this was a budget hotel.

Review 97:Clean!

Review 98:For the second time in succession our Booking.com reservation was not on the Egg hotel system when we arrived. It was only by good luck that I was able to secure 2 free rooms at such short notice. We never really got to the bottom of who was to blame so I advise you check your reservation with the hotel direct before you travel.

Review 99:The price and the location of this hotel make it ideal for short breaks.

Review 100:It could do with brightening up. We had a coffee machine that didn't work and our room was a tad dull. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Review 101:The hotel is close to bars and restaurants and it was very cheap.

Review 102:Very limited breakfast choices, which we ended up skipping. Bed not to my liking -- oh well, you can't please everyone -- but after 3 long days on the bike, a good night's sleep would have been wonderful.

Review 103:Secure storage indoors for touring bicycles.

Review 104:Loo very cramped for seating. Shower, not bath. Only one chair.

Review 105:Clean, efficient, excellent buffet breakfast. Helpful staff, good free WiFi, position near central shops. Limited metre parking outside, but cheap at €2 for 24 hours.

Review 106:Beds not that comfortable.

Review 107:We wanted somewhere close to the centre for the first evening in France, and also for the market the next day. It is in a perfect location and everything clean and works. Not a 5-star, but for the money good value.

Review 108:We have stayed in this hotel several times before and have been very satisfied. This time we were at first given a smokey room. We were later transferred to a non smoking disabled room even though we are not disabled. The bathroom fittings need fixing, loose tap and drain not working in sink. Small matters perhaps but a shame that the maintenance seems to be slipping .

Review 109:Coffee or tea to my room was not supplied. Heating to my room was switched off. Extra bed blankets should have been made available because of cold days and nights

Review 110:Helpfulness of the staff

Review 111:Right in the city centre. Free coffee pod machine. Free wifi. All you can eat continental breakfast for €7. Very comfortable beds. Big clean en suite bathroom. Decor is a bit sterile but otherwise a great hotel. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Review 112:Car parking was trickybI arrived fairly early and neede to park quite a way away from the hotel, this was resolved later on as the streets cleared and free parking overnight was availible outside the hotel

Review 113:Centre town location, friendly bi lingual staff, close to ferry terminal.

Review 114:The bed was slightly low, but not a problem.

Review 115:Very conveniently situated, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Optional breakfast excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our midwinter break. Ideal for a few days stay.

Review 116:Fan heater in bathroom too fierce. Shower head would not stay in position (seems to be a common problem with hotel showers)

Review 117:Easy to find from ferry or railway station, with plenty of parking nearby. Friendly staff, warm comfortable room, clever, effective lighting.

Review 118:Bathroom was "tired" door didn't shut properly & shower curtain instead of screen.

Review 119:Friendly welcome. Simple keyless entry. Good choice of food and drinks for breakfast which was good value at €7.50

Review 120:Breakfast was indifferent the first time we stayed so we didn't bother with it this time.

Review 121:Location very good for walking to shops and restaurants. Good value one night stopover when travelling.

Review 122:Heating was insuficient, room was chilly. WI-FI connectivity was almost non-existent and kept crapping out

Review 123:10 minutes from the harbour, 5 minutes from the train station, 10 minutes from the waterfront restaurants and bars

Review 124:I asked for a room on the back side ,but got one on the street side. Basic room with hard bed Basic breakfast (but that's normal in France)

Review 125:Walking distance to shops /restaurants. Friendly staff. Espresso machine in the room is great.

Review 126:Reception lady not at all welcoming or particularly helpful. Grim looking/style hotel - a warm welcome would have made all the difference!! Located on busy street - paid parking spaces available but be aware you need to park on pavement with high curbs and no drop down. A few proper spaces directly outside if you can wait/prepared to move later. Thin walls so you can hear other rooms doors banging, bathrooms being used, etc. Didn't get to sleep until comings and goings stopped.

Review 127:Cheap, central base for overnight before very early morning ferry. Free Wi-Fi and couldn't fault cleanliness. Easy walk to seafront shops/bars, etc. This is like a typical 'F1' room but with your own shower/toilet. Can't comment on breakfast, left too early.

Review 128:Definitely looking very tired and in need of refurbishment. I first stayed there in 2000 when it was part of the Accor chain and have stayed several times since on my last night before getting a ferry home - it's getting progressively shabbier and this will probably be my last visit until I know it has been updated and soundproofed. Noise can be annoying as sound travels through the premises and doors slam on closing. Fair for the price however if you can put up with the noise and tiredness of the decor and furnishings. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt and my judgement hardened with age. Finally, beware they don't take Amex so ensure you have an alternative.

Review 129:Location, price and proximity of safe parking.

Review 130:No information about wi-fi, allthough we didn't ask. Bed wasn't very good. Lift was a bit dirty. Pets accepted for £6.

Review 131:Excellent value for money. Plenty of room. You have a Nespresso machine in the bedroom. Pets accepted for £6.
