Reviews for Hôtel Belles Rives

Review 1:Non!!

Review 2:The Grande Butapest Hotel has nothing on Belle Rives! Amazing room overlooking thr sea! Watching the " natives...set up for their morning activities? Scuba for clams, oysters and finishing off with some strange exercises plus a water ski show. Then stripping off the wet clothes to sunbathe for the day! The restaurant settings were so romantic! Beautiful food! EXTREMELY attentive staff...always, always with a smile and loved Juan de Pins!! A quieter side BUT tons to do!!if there were 6 stars this beautiful, gracious Hotel would earn it!

Review 3:Not sure if it was the weekend we choose to say, but our room rate was nearly €900 per night. The rooms were not of the quality I would expect at that price point.

Review 4:Wonderful staff. Good location

Review 5:Old fashioned Hotel. No entarteinments, swimming pool, free parking. A bottle of sparkling water 20 euro?? Beach is an additional costs for guests.

Review 6:Position close to downtown.

Review 7:I didn't like how the facilities outside the hotel were run e.g the sun bed and restaurants. One would expect to be able to find this facility available especially as the hotel us so expensive

Review 8:Having to pay extra to use the hotel loungers and private beach. In a 5 star hotel this should be included and has been anywhere else I stayed

Review 9:Location and look of the hotel

Review 10:Seaside bar was very very busy - but it was Sunday and Fetes des mamans!

Review 11:The wonderful decor and furnishings and historic links with Scott Fitzgerald. Staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous especially Reception and Breakfast Manageress.

Review 12:Staff did there best to help but most were beginners, so no knowledge of the region, sightseeing or hotel facilities. but enthusiasm is there

Review 13:Hotel right on the sea. Excellent view from the restaurant - though the restaurant is very expensive. Much better option is the hotel bistro right on the beach. it is very close to Juan les Pin centre / restaurants but still little away and not noisy

Review 14:i am 177cm tall and my wife 165 cm, the bed was way too short. my feet were sticking out of the end of the bed. the bed was too hard. the wifi did not reach all over the premises, that is, our room itself nor the outside terrace area. the bathroom and toilet were worn out with outdated accessories. the elevator although charming was a pain in the neck for us and i can imagine more so for the staff as it broke and got stuck several times during our first and only night. the windows are old and not well insulated which made the soundlevel extremely loud - basically 2-3 hours of rest, absolutely horrible. i really can not understand how they got the 5 stars they claim unless they 1. bribed someone to get it 2. put the starts up themselves. i am just tired of hotels trying to live on the glory days (when there was not as much heavy traffic and the facilities were new) when celebrities etc visited them and try to cheat customers with outdated rooms and facilities

Review 15:staff was friendly and it could be an amazing place if they really invested into the points which i have mentioned of the "dislikes".

Review 16:Wi-Fi is patchy - not the end of the world, but if you need to keep on top of your business or keep in touch with family whilst you're away, you may struggle.

Review 17:The hotel is lovely and the location perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are large and well appointed and the public areas are very good!

Review 18:I found weird that they ask you to pay to stay on the hotel beach (15€ each for a sunbed +5€ for a towel!), a 5* Hotel should offerte this is part of the overall experience. Also the restroom of the bedroom was very small for a 5* and the equipment (like the hairdryer) old.

Review 19:Great location and very nice staff. Loved the breakfast.

Review 20:Took a while to be served in the bar, but I think it was because they were expecting a large group. Not a probelm and view made up for it.

Review 21:Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely room Unique hotel Lovely views Close to town

Review 22:What a delight to find such a gem of a hotel, fabulous staff, food, comfort, location. I can find nothing negative to say other than that my stay was too short.

Review 23:We found the breakfast service very poor constantly having to ask even to have a table set and invisable staff. took 3 requesrts even to get a cup of coffee which arrived cold and once the food had been consumed

Review 24:Front Office and concierge staff very helpful, friendly and engaging. Bar staff also helpful and welcoming even when we arrived late

Review 25:We were given an upgrade at a discount which was fantastic, but unfortunately the bed was a pull down bed - it stayed as a bed the whole time - but it was clear it had been pulled down from the wall and was therefore not particularly comfortable. I'm sure that's not the case in the other rooms but you might want to check. The wifi was good when it had coverage, but the hotel should probably get some wifi boosters to ensure wifi coverage doesn't cut out.

Review 26:The staff were absolutely incredible and the hotel is really beautiful. The staff did everything they possibly could to help us - eg. car rental, ordering taxis, suggesting restaurants. They cannot be commended highly enough. It would have scored higher on facilities but it doesn't have much in the way of spas etc - though we absolutely loved being right by the sea and swam every morning and evening.

Review 27:The understated elegance & friendliness of the staff. We are experienced independant travellers but not habituees of top end establishments & found Belles Rives refreshingly informal. Breakfast (at €29) was expensive but eating on the terrace made it an unforgetable experience. A special mention for Luca the chief concierge who was exellent & had a very well organised team

Review 28:That we could only stay one night on this occasion! But we'll be back.

Review 29:My husband and I just loved this hotel, it's so beautiful and romantic. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly, especially Luca. Breakfast on the terrace was fabulous. The views and the setting were perfect, just beautiful. The romance of the place really won us over, we loved the Fitzgerald connection and the history. Anew favourite.

Review 30:The 3 weddings that took place over the weekend we were there, as the music went on until 2 - 3 am 3 nights out of the 4 we stayed.

Review 31:We loved the location, the views, the restaurants and the water sports as well as the heritage of the hotel

Review 32:Being overcharged by over one hundred euro for somebody else's lunchand wine on the sun lounges. To be fair the bill was fixed but theattitude of the female bar manager was quite rude, with the onus on usto prove it was not our lunch. Luckily we had eaten lunch in tha bararea and had signed the tab.

Review 33:The views from the terrace and concierge and room staff extremelyhelpful and pleasant.

Review 34:The hotel is way overpriced for what you get.The lift broke down every day,the rooms are basic for a five star establishment. After paying 1400 euros per night we still had to pay another 68 euros per day for a sun lounger and towel each and 32 euros each for breakfast. The drinks were very expensive and the two occasions we went into the bar for a drink we were overcharged on the bill. One got the feeling the barmen did this regularly.

Review 35:The views are fantastic and the Terrace is a great place to eat or drink in the evening

Review 36:for our 3 night weekend,(fri-sun) there were 2 weddings (fri and sat) and 1 brunch.(sun) The loud music was until 2AM both nights. the brunch was all day sunday. We felt that as hotel guests we were disadvantaged: no loungers left by the sea for us! The wedding guests both days took over the hotel. disaster. Food at the sea-level grill was mediocre at best! Way too expensive. they charge for everything! even if you are a hotel guest you pay for beach towel, umbrella, lounger, cover for the lounger! Our supposedly deluxe room had a tiny bathroom, old fashioned shower(hand held) no curtain= water-everywhere!

Review 37:location is tops! some of the staff were terrific .Beds very comfortable. Breakfast buffet lovely but again overpriced.

Review 38:As a guest being charged for beach chairs, towels and umbrella. Should be included in room rate.

Review 39:Fantastic location, friendly, welcoming staff and small boutique hotel feel.

Review 40:We thought the charge for the sunloungers and parasols should be included with the hotel rate. It seems a bit much to charge hotel guests extra to lie on loungers, use towels and a parasol.

Review 41:Staff found it easier to say no than help. Asked for a late check out 2pm told no they were full - Sunday night in June? We're able to move a table on terrace for drinks because it was ready for dinner - there were no diners & it would have involved resetting 2 plates. Understaffed & over stressed at breakfast.

Review 42:Love the location

Review 43:The food was good, though there should have been a vegetarian choice and more vegetables. There was too much protein on the menu.

Review 44:room not really big enough to work from.

Review 45:Twenties Style, location, view, staff, sunset, history.

Review 46:Classic style, art deco authenticity and a wonderful experience. Great staff, and amazing food. loved it!

Review 47:Meal. Failed to come close to expectations

Review 48:Rooms just ok

Review 49:Staff was awesome

Review 50:Quite pricey bar and restaurant with regard to quality.

Review 51:Piano bar with beautifull view.

Review 52:Very expensive food Charges to lie on the loungers

Review 53:Art Deco furnishings are exquisite

Review 54:Everything is an additional cost

Review 55:Wonderful location

Review 56:Beautiful setting and views. Superb interiors. Brilliant breakfast on the terrace.

Review 57:Kamer volledig out of date.

Review 58:Strand en terras faciliteiten.

Review 59:No drawer in room except bedside table. Bathroom small small. No shelve space. Two sinks. No place to put makeup. Shaving gear.

Review 60:The hotel is wonderful and very well run perfect location.

Review 61:Small rooms and old facilities and public areas that need refurbishment

Review 62:The location and the service

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:I liked the fact that they didn't overcharged me for a bottle of mouton rothschild 1982 like other places.

Review 65:The shower isn't good enough

Review 66:nice service,great view

Review 67:Too many naff Brits

Review 68:Location, style

Review 69:Eating right on the water with a cool breeze blowing in off the water

Review 70:Terrible food.

Review 71:The history, location and waterfront

Review 72:Wonderful place

Review 73:Relaxing , all the staff are helpful and efficient .

Review 74:Slow to get breakfast - communication mix up probably

Review 75:Great view

Review 76:Wifi did not work well. Complicated safe in rrom

Review 77:Staff Location Breakfast

Review 78:The Bar Manager and his twist on the Old Fashioned.

Review 79:The room, the view, the service, the food, everything.

Review 80:The pillows

Review 81:Outstanding location

Review 82:Enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine on the terrace sipping rose

Review 83:Restaurant was too expensive.

Review 84:Everything was perfect! Rooms, decor & location superb. Staff, Luca, Christophe & Diana, v helpful & made the stay even more enjoyable.

Review 85:The location is fantastic and food exceptional, one of the most outstanding hotels I have stayed in throughout the world

Review 86:Prices insane ))), Minibars not recovered for 3 days

Review 87:Style, Staff professionalism, spirit

Review 88:The staff was unbelievable -- best service we have ever experienced

Review 89:paying for sunbeds and towels

Review 90:all very good but nothing is included

Review 91:Incredible concierge

Review 92:very very poor buffet and very pricey breakfast charging for sunbeds ,towels and parasols for two per day approx. 70 euros

Review 93:superb location. art deco style a unique feature friendly staff

Review 94:Your Hotel is run for non residents! On several occasions we could not find anywhere to eat in the evening except inside the Bar. There are odd rules about when you can obtain refreshments on the lovely Terrace. We had just come from the Park Hotel in Vitznau/Lucern Switzerland where the resident Guests were given a complete & brilliant service

Review 95:Beautiful Location

Review 96:We were unable to get a drink from the bar during the day unless you were on a sunbed, disappointing if you wanted to do some work in the cool bar.

Review 97:Fabulous location and gorgeous hotel.

Review 98:The room was a little over warm and the air conditioning control wasn't too receptive to being altered.

Review 99:The hotel staff were very welcoming and the decor was lovely. The foyer was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Review 100:Horrible hotel . Urgent need of renovation. Old furniture and broken plumbing appliances. Dirty bathrooms. Ants all over the furniture. We have pre-paid of 7 nights stay and strongly regretted about it. After 2 days of living among the ants we asked at the front desk give us back the remaining money, but they did not return us the money. As compensation we were offered a room with "renovation" and sea views. The sea view was very nice. But we can not call this-"renovation" if the tiles is glued to the old plumbing, and old furniture is painted with white color (outside only). This is not a renovation! Horrible hotel !

Review 101:Location, restaurant, sea view.

Review 102:It's close proximity to Juan les Pins which seems to be losing it's chic reputation.

Review 103:Lovely hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. Spectacular views and wonderful decor. Interesting memorabilia regarding its origins.

Review 104:I highly appreciate the Staff hospitality and friendliness, pleasant atmosphere and comfortable, well-decorated guests rooms. And gastronomic variety will definitely satisfy any demanding taste!

Review 105:We have booked the most expensive rooms with sea view. The staff neverinformed us that during 2 nights of our stay the hotel will hostweddings each night of our stay right under our windows. The musik wasplaying till 3 in the morning and than we had to listen for the cleaningcrew for the next 3 hours cleaning the place and moving furniture. Weended up not sleeping for 2 nights, we couldn't enjoy fresh air andview, because we had to shut our windows to at least be able to hear thetv (we could not sleep anyway). So 510 Euros at night for two sleeplessnights sound a bit to much.

Review 106:The service was not polite like Paris or Bougelaise. The food was not good. The room was too small. We left the hotel early and was not given a refund for the nights we did not stay even though we were not happy with the hotel. Please see if you can refund some of that. Thank you.

Review 107:Location

Review 108:Rooms a bit on the small side. Didn't like having to pay for sun beds, beach towel, umbrellas etc

Review 109:Location amazing, with stunning views. Staff very good. Stylish With an air of sophistication of a bygone era.

Review 110:Feeling of hotel is a bit desperate to make a profit. Trying to do too many things.

Review 111:Old fashioned good service You have to apriciate the history of the hotel and the surrounding.Juan les pins is suffering from the recession and is not what it was only 5 years ago,

Review 112:-Dirty (found stuff from previous occupiers on the floor and under thebed) -they charged us 30 euros for sitting half an hour on a beach chairwith towels or anything. -Water in the bath was colored, they moved usto another room...same problem! No maintenance staff at night to fix theproblem -no air conditionned in the room, heating only... It was too hotand too noisy outisde to open the windows while we slept -fitness is inanother hotel 5 minutes away, sauna was out of order

Review 113:The decoration is really nice. Amazing location...if you can afford asea-view room.

Review 114:Ideal location (just on the beach) in a luxury area. Perfect work of personnel. Fantastic view and sounds of the sea - we slept with the balcony door opened and that was stunning. We'll come back, for sure.

Review 115:This is a very pretty hotel in a nice location next to the beach and lovely sea views from the beautifully decorated rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a relaxing atmosphere in the hotel and it is pleasing to hear the sounds of the professionally played piano eminating from the bar. A bit of luxury without being pretentious.

Review 116:Resturant staff and some of the pool side have a very bad Attitude Although we were on a romantic visit and there was a two seat table in a romantic position at the front of the balcony in the restaurant which simply needed resetting they would not do it for us and made us sit next to a family table were the children had a laptop playing a video so the whole romantic atmosphere was lost. I also burnt my mouth on the coffee it was so hot, if they had been in England I would have sued, the Attitude was unhelpful and what the French are famous for being up themselves, which to be fair after having been going down the S O F for 20+ years is the first time I have really come across it but it’s there in this hotel in the restaurants in abundance but I have to say the front desk staff where very nice as was housekeeping The same attitude is also found in the pool side restaurant but at least the coffee is at the right temp Love the hotel and food which can be expensive that’s why I was surprised at the service manners would i go back yes but eat out

Review 117:hotel food setting

Review 118:We were attnded to at checkin with a very friendly, polite, efficientmember of your staff. We asked for an upgrade to a seaview room and shevery kindly went oit of her way to accomodate. The room was lovely, great view of the sea. We id not eat in the hotel dining room but themenus did look excellent. The staff at the boat house restaurant werevery friendly also. We loved the decor in the hotel, especially the oldfashioned lift. So much character. The only negative we have is that, whilst enjoying a lovely bottle of wine on the main terrace oneafternoon, we were told we must move as the hotel were preparing for aprivate function! Therefore we weren't able to enjoy the wonderful view. You have to question.......who's cash is more important? Obviously notours!!! In saying that, we will hopefully return to the Belle Rives andwould certainly recommend to others. Thank you.

Review 119:Everything about the hotel is 4 stars, no idea how it's rated 5 stars. We went for the very expensive dinner by excutive chef at theirrestaurant. Food was nothing close to a Michelin star restaurant.Service was snobbish, frantic and quite rushed, with people rushing Arneto the point of making us dizzy. Disappointing. Hotel is tired and roomsvery mdiocre with an urgent need of a refresh. Bottom line - not worththe money, there's better places for this price

Review 120:Nice view from the outside breakfast/lunch sitting area. Decent speed, free wi-fi.

Review 121:The price for the lounger chairs was a bit steep for people staying in the hotel, same with the towels. The bedroom decor was not very Art Deco, too many designs in a small space

Review 122:The staff were excellent the position great

Review 123:The beds were hard and uncomfortable and not up to the standard of this type of hotel. The pillows were also uncomfortable and a hotel of this standard shoulld really be offering soft feather pillows.

Review 124:The staff were fantastic so friendly and helpful and made the stay an enjoyable one. The location and sea views were amazing!
