Reviews for Hotel Isis
Review 1:There was a water dripping into the room from the wooden window frame as it was raining heavily.
Review 2:Excellent location close to the city center. Calm and peacefull environment.
Review 3:Very dirty, staff doesn't speak English well . Smells of cats , cat was walking across the tables where the breakfast is served in the morning .. Microwave is the same place where reception is along with the coffee machine .. So the receptionist prepares ur breakfast .. Never again .. Avoid .. Rooms are super dirty
Review 4:Location
Review 5:we got very VERY small room, with no window and with a glass door (covered with curtain) to some kind of a hall. the TV is 15''.
Review 6:5 min' walk from the ferry to central station, free parking 5 min' walk away.
Review 7:- a Night shift recepcionist complained a lot with a bad face about my key room that i kept with me during The night , sauins that if i lost i Would pay another one etc., bad bad reception and at The moment of check in nothing was said to me .???? -The recepcionist dont try to help small issues like no Wi-Fi and our shower was not working properly and We have to Spend 2 days taking bath on a tap of The shower ; -4 floors and no elevator, if you have a heavy luggagge , dont go to this hotel ir Ask a 1 floor room
Review 8:The location is reasonable but if you have lugagge and using public transportation you are gonna walk around 1,5km To reach The Hotel , if not Is ok
Review 9:Is so expensive for what really is, doesn't have 24 hours reception so we have to wait under the rain like 15 minutes to some one to open, doesn't have elevator but the worst part is that the room didn't have heating and we're in winter so we freezed the whole night!
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:a little bit expensive, but it's a problem of all hotels in Amsterdam
Review 12:Nice place. It's not far from city center, but you should use a ferry. There is a good yard near the hotel. Silent place
Review 13:There is no elevator, so you should be prepared to carry your things on the staircase. Our floor (the hall, not the room) smelled a little funny on the first day and we also found a piece of apple under the bed, but I guess these are random things that can happen anywhere.
Review 14:The location is great; it is very close to the center of Amsterdam and there are free ferries all day & all night to get you there. The staff was amazing, very helpful and warm. It was quiet when we stayed there, which is great for sleeping in and the whole area didn't seem too busy either. It is an excellent choice if you are looking for a great value for your money.
Review 15:Cheap and near the city. Enjoyed the free ferry and short walk. Bit of a no frills Hotel, everyone friendly, pleasant, place clean tidy. Will stay there on my next trip!
Review 16:We received a friendly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We were able to access our room early; it was comfortable, with a little balcony - ideal for drinking our coffee and looking out on the pleasant, suburban, surroundings.. The ferry ride was a highlight. We loved the nearby Turkish restaurant and would definitely stay here again
Review 17:The hotel is very obsolete, small claustrophobic room which additionally stinkts from the bathroom, lack of the elevator and very steepy stairs make the climbing not easy when you are carrying large suitcase. Breakfeast is very modest as hotel does not have its own kitchen.
Review 18:Quick access to the downtown via ferry. Clean, quiet surrouding
Review 19:Hard getting to rooms with cases as no lift and steep stairs, house keeping was a bit hit and miss, hard to see what they did.
Review 20:Helpful staff, not overcrowded
Review 21:Room very small and it did not look amazing. Not elevator. A bit noisy at night (neighbours and guests). Not big towel in the room, only small ones.
Review 22:Location is good. You can park your car around and you are still at walking distance of the city centre using a free ferry that runs all night and it is very frequent. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 23:Lots of stairs and walls and curtains were in need of updating and redecoration.
Review 24:Quiet, close to ferry which was free, lovely restaurant on the corner. Hotel staff were lovely.massive bathroom.
Review 25:Small bathroom with minimal amenities and small towels. No elevator and circular stairs might be an obstacle to some. But, I would gladly return for the price and convenience.
Review 26:Location is excellent, in a quiet neighborhood about a five minute walk from the free ferry to Amsterdam Central. This is a family owned plain hotel. Some beverages and snacks are available. There is a 24 hour desk person.
Review 27:Rooms a little dated however good enough to put your head down for the night.
Review 28:Staff were great and very helpful. Location good easy access to Amsterdam via free ferry approx 5 min walk from Hotel.
Review 29:Poor maintenance in the room (room 14). Door knob to the room fell off while trying to lock the door. The shower head was secured by a string. The room very small and had no windows but only a door to a shared outdoor area.
Review 30:Friendly staff, location was not too bad in a quiet residential area. Large bathroom (it's for disabled people).
Review 31:you wouldn't want to be here - not clean, smell of joints in room, expensive (paid almost 100 euro for the night!).
Review 32:I could turn the lights on and of
Review 33:you are not allowed to take key out of the hotel the walls are full with black marks bad sheets was not clean shower don`t work properly lot of noise from inside the hotel and outside.
Review 34:nothing
Review 35:Terrible neighborhood. They had a cat and the bedroom smelled like cat pee. The recepcionist was presented poorly and he had two purple rings around his eyes!
Review 36:The only nice thing about this hotel was the flower pots outside the building. The inside had ver poor decor.
Review 37:The hotel is not cheap and the staff that work there is the worst I have ever seen in my life. We asked for new towels and we did not receive them. Also when we did not check out by 11am and we stayed more 40 minutes in the room packing the things the guy entered the room screaming to get out. That was very terrifying situation, my girlfriend really get scared and also they made me pay more €15 euro for this time. I will never come back to this hotel and I strongly don't recommend anyone to stay there. I would advise everyone to stay in the Botel instead- staff is much better and simpatic. But book soon because they are always full.
Review 38:what I like the most is the location and the staff. Besides the Ferry that goes to the center is free and is located a few blocks away from this hotel . it is well recommended.
Review 39:the fact that we had specifically asked for a quiet room- we were given a court yard room- happy, until kept up late and woken very early by builders stomping up n down the hallway n working in the yard. the other receptionist in the morning was openly rude and racist and when we asked for ahmed he became worse. we shall not return. and we have told all our family n aquaintances who wanted to stay there not to bother. the furniture in our room was ok, so was the helpers room. the students room was below par
Review 40:this was our 2nd trip there with a group of kids on a language trip. we had planned to use this hotel for every student trip. ahmed, the first receptionist was great.
Review 41:Rooms are too small and one would feel claustrophobic. Tv is ofsmall size causing strain to one's eyes. Less light andventilation in the room.
Review 42:Location.Just a free ferry ride away from/to Amsterdam Central.
Review 43:- First bed had wheels. Every moment of body movement the bed changes of position. This issue was easily solved as there was an other room with fixed bed available.
Review 44:- Perfect location. Fast entry to city center - Fast entry for my vist goal - Sleeping was good, quiet surrounding.
Review 45:The staff was so friendly and helpful and we lived the locale! So close to Central Amaterdam with a family feel! My 12 year old son played in the park all evening with a bunch of new friends! We had an amazing time there! Highly recommend!!
Review 46:We were really surprised how quickly and comfortably we could get to the city centre from the hotel without the car. 500 meters from the hotel to the ferry across the channel for free, which also takes no more than 5 minutes and you are at the railway station which is the city centre. And it was possible to park the car for free not far from the hotel as there is a huge problem with it in the city centre and other hotels charge quite a bit for parking. Overall, the room was clean though pretty small, the staff - friendly and helpful.
Review 47:The room was very hot and there was no AC or fan in the room. The breakfast was not included and cost 7.50€. The refrigerator in the room had not been cleaned and there were spots on the bed linens.
Review 48:The location was ok with walking distance to the ferry going to the central station. Quiet area with a bakery next door. The staff were nice and helpful. The bathroom was clean.
Review 49:With three people staying 70% of floor area was taken up with beds. Onour trip we had nights were our bath room was bigger than this room.
Review 50:Great location to city Centre.
Review 51:The breakfast was poor and costs extra 7,5 Euro. Our room was the first next to the corridor door and we could hear the door from early in the morning until late at night. Very small room. The beds' matresses were the worst part.
Review 52:The location. It is close to the city centre by free ferry and at the same time is quite and less expensive. The morning staff was very friendly & smiling.
Review 53:Rooms are very small.
Review 54:Away from main city and free parking available within a few km. Recommend Mt Everest restaurant a few door down, excellent Nepalese dinner. Bike rentals are available and the free ferry takes you directly to the center of the city.
Review 55:The hotel is a bit noisy. From outside you can always hear some noise and from inside (as there is no lift) the people who are coming day and night are using the stairs. As it's made of wood there is always a cracking noise but nothing serious.
Review 56:Free wifi and helpful staff.
Review 57:No maid service, even when we specifically asked for it. Small room, esp w/twin beds. Last ferry ran at 2359.
Review 58:Very clean and comfortable, good sized bathroom, lots of hot water, good Wi-Fi. I don't spend a lot of money on rooms - I want clean and safe and spend my money on other things and this was perfect! Very east to find - 3 min on ferry, 5 min walk.
Review 59:Nothing to dislike
Review 60:A few meters walk to the gratis ferry brings you quick and easy to the city center. Rooms are clean and the very friendly staff creates a welcoming familiar atmosphere. WiFi is for free and works well.
Review 61:Food options limited to doner kebab/shawarma shops or bakeries. Terrible steep stairs, avoid the higher floors if with kids, elderly or heavy bags!
Review 62:Clean, reasonably well located with free quick ferry ride.
Review 63:The ferry was the only way to get to town and sometimes it was a pain if you couldn't t be bothered to do anything you don't want to trek to get the ferry.
Review 64:The price was good and cheap and was a cute hotel buts it's with all the locals so practically living in there village .
Review 65:Nada
Review 66:We had a small room from rooftops, excellent view to the neighborhood. Quiet, clean and very nice hosts! In the neighborhood mainly families, quiet and nice. Car needed to be left 200m on the streets (infront of the hotel was blue parking zone, only with ticket) but there was available parking place in the safe quiet street, were we left '90s car. Best distance to the centre, only 5 min walk to the ferry, which left every 10 mknutes till midnight, other one once per hour 24/7. Foodmarkets and restaurants near. Best that you can find in this price and location!
Review 67:The room isn't like the one advertised, unfurnished with broken furniture, curtains just wrapped around rail, tape over the toilet flush, thin walls and floors (noisy).
Review 68:The only good thing was the free boat journey that you have to make to and from central station. Other than that the only good thing was when we left haha.
Review 69:Great value for money. Location was great. It was very easy to reach the centre of Amsterdam. We were able to leave our bike safely in secure storage at Centraal Station.
Review 70:We had booked a double bed but were given two singles. We went down to complain but were told "I'm not the one who takes the bookings". One curtain was broken so just hung up on the rail, the other curtain barely covered the window so people could see inside. The bedside chest of drawers fell apart as soon as you opened a drawer...absolutely useless. Upon entry there was an offensive smell from the drains. Dated decor, which is fine normally, but together with the falling-apart furniture, it made for a dingy, dreary and unpleasant stay.
Review 71:It was fairly clean...no complaints there. Great mini fridge. Powerful shower.
Review 72:Twin beds instead of Double bed, even though requested and confirmed. Cold because you could look through a gap at the balcony door, the wind just blew in A naked light bulb on the ceiling
Review 73:This may sound silly, but the hotel doesn't have a lift... If you have large amounts of baggage's (and usually this happens in a large group), it's a long way up to the last floor.
Review 74:The most interesting part I've liked was "getting to the hotel itself" :) You have 2 option: one by ferries (no costs) and one by local buses through the underwater tunnel of the IJcanal. Actually getting to the hotel will take around 10-15 min. max (including the ferry ride) The hotel itself located in the North part of Amsterdam, a much more quiet zone and has 4 floors. Near the hotel you will find a restaurant and a small MiniMarket The hotel also has a vending machine with drinks at decent prices. Very close to the main train station (by ferry) The staff is kind to give you hints on what to visit and at what time frames. Also, they will try to assist you in any way they can.
Review 75:Location was very good a two minute ferry ride(free) from Central Station great to escape noise & bussle of city center. Plus great Indian/Nepalese restaurant 3 doors away.
Review 76:The bed was not so comfortable. Location not so easy to find.
Review 77:Very nice and welcoming staff. We loved Samy the cat. :) Good breakfast. Very near to the central station by taking the free ferry to Ipleijn.
Review 78:the wifi kept breaking, no one emptied the bin in our room
Review 79:Let us check in early, helpful staff, good location outside of the main area, cute cat! Comfy bed, tv, fridge, clean, hot shower.
Review 80:Light not working, heating not working, room at €80 not including breakfast and breakfast had to be booked in advance, coffee not available before 7am. Probably the most unpleasant stay at a hotel ever, even more so as for a two star hotel €80 per night is pricey.
Review 81:DO NOT STAY IF YOU TRAVEL ALONE. The hotel is located in very dodgy area and it is only hotel there!! At night it's inconvenient to get back to hotel as you have to wait for the ferry which is the only way how to get through the canal. One of the staff member was very unpleasant and rude
Review 82:GOOD VALUE Central location good size room Balcony
Review 83:Noise, wooden floors, doors shutting, single pane windows can hear people leaving shisha bar at 3am
Review 84:Location, Location just a 5min walk to ferry, 10min to central station.
Review 85:very small room, three people packed on each other.Even the light buttons were behind the closet. When you opened the closet door, the bathroom entrance was closed. Torned out bedsheets etc...
Review 86:The lady in reception at the morning
Review 87:There was a terrible stink like a sewer smell which was mixed with a very intrusive airfreshner that sprayed every 20 mins on a timer, altogether it was not nice air to breath. I would have opened a window but there is a snooker club next door which gets very noisy and then noisier at around 1am. The room was less than basic only 1 towel per person with no hand towel or bathmat, no safe, no toiletries to take away, tv that would not tune in, wifi that barely worked. The room was not very clean and looked very run down. We booked for 3 nights but left after 1 very short, poor nights sleep we will never return here!
Review 88:2 of the 3 staff we met were lovely. Shower was nice. The boat ride was pleasant and the port was very close by.
Review 89:Upon arrival we were met by the loveliest receptionist who took the time to explain things to us. There are two free ferries right near the hotel so getting to the city was easy. Also a good little bar right next door.
Review 90:Just the wifi was a little weak upstairs but this didn't affect our stay.
Review 91:The location was perfect and gave us an insight into how the locals live in Amsterdam because it was on the outskirts of the main square. The boat trip across to Central station was a fun part of our journey to the centre over the two days! The staff there were so welcoming and friendly. A quiet and lovely hotel very highly recommended.
Review 92:- A little bit expensive compared to the similar hotel in Copenhagen we stayed in after Amsterdam
Review 93:- A nice quiet location within 10 min of the Centraal station - A decent service - A cat that's been around
Review 94:-2 single beds instead of a double as we requested -neighbourhood: would be a bit scared (or uncomfortable) to go there alone in the evening
Review 95:-great location, free ferry -nice, friendly staff -big shop, ATM, nice breakfast/pizza nearby
Review 96:Rooms were not in great condition, not very clean or fresh, bathroom light wouldn't turn off (on a sensor that didn't sense we were not using the room). Not a ton of restaurant/supermarket options
Review 97:Very friendly staff, quiet neighbourhood, proximity to Amsterdam Cental was only 15 minutes by free ferry and foot. Prices were lower than in the city centre, good place to sleep and shower and then get out for the day.
Review 98:- Wifi was barely functional through the first couple of nights of our stay; once they rebooted the router, it became okay though
Review 99:- It was available - there were no problems during our stay, besides wifi
Review 100:Was a little expensive for the level of facilities, however I think Amsterdam was booked that weekend so comparatively it was cheaper. The steep stairs were okay for me, but older guests would find them difficult. A room next to the stairs is noisy at night.
Review 101:Location to the free ferry across to the main station was easy and safe. Ran late at night also. My triple room was good size. Good internet and friendly staff.
Review 102:Stairs up to the rooms were quite steep with bags. No tea making facilities in the room which we were told would be available, and our room wasn't cleaned for the 3 days we were there. The beds were slightly uncomfortable and the sheets were thin, but for a 2 star, budget hotel it was fine.
Review 103:Brilliant location with a free boat ride everyday to get to central station. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive, 24 hours a day. Smoking room which you can eat your own food (which can be kept in the fridge in your room) and drink your own alcohol.
Review 104:Wi-Fi didn't work, the room was so small that it was difficult to unpack for 2 people. There is no lift. The place could generally use a touch of fresh paint and some deep cleaning.
Review 105:The hotel is very near a ferry that takes you directly to the central station in the heart of Amsterdam It is located in a residential area, so it was fairly quiet in the night.
Review 106:It was great. It is not a luxury hotel but it offers you the minimum confort you need on a vacation:hot shower, good bed...
Review 107:I loved the neighbourhood, the closeness to the ferry, quite close to the city centre(10 minutes in total:walk +ferry), very friendly and helpful staff. I expected less after reading the reviews but it was great. Clean and friendly! What else can you want?
Review 108:Room no. 43 was without toilet paper, WC smelts in all room, toilet seat was torn off. It was horrible.
Review 109:Good positioned with a possibility of free parking and free of charge passanger ferry to the central station.
Review 110:No elevator (not an issue for me)You have to realize this is not in Amsterdam central. For me, this was fine. It was less than 10 minutes from the city center.
Review 111:Really clean hotel Great shower Comfortable bed Consistent wifi(surprisingly hard to come by in europe)
Review 112:Rooms were a bit small and hallway was smelling like urine.
Review 113:For Amsterdam if you are staying close to main station, you are close to almost everywhere. Although this hotel was other side of the city, transportation was really fast and for free (at least what local people were telling us). 5 mins to ferry and 3-5 mins to main station. It was really nice to have such a fast connection to city center. Neighbourhood was lovely (especially houses between dock and the hotel were really nice).
Review 114:Mattress was not very good. We were in two rooms and one was okay and the other was very uncomfortable
Review 115:I thought it would be too far out but the ride or walk back and the ferry ride were nice. Staff were all nice.
Review 116:Numerous things, bed covers didnt fit bed, bed rolled around, shower head broken, curtains didnt cover window, no TV remote, staff very noisy on stairs at night. Worst thing was rodent in room.
Review 117:The location was reasonably central, ferry ride to station was free.
Review 118:There wasn't anything I disliked.
Review 119:That we got a room on the first floor so we didn't have to mess about carrying bags up stairs, also the back garden was facing our room, it was really cute and we could smoke in there. The free ferry was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There was a lovely restaurant at the end of the street and a coffee shop round the corner. The hotel has someone on reception 24 hours.
Review 120:Good access to Amsterdam Central.Very helpful staff. Excellent value!
Review 121:The beds are not confortable, but ok for only one night.
Review 122:Close to the city center. The price.
Review 123:The shower didn't work. No safe in room.
Review 124:It was a good price for a hotel room in the centre. Staff were polite.
Review 125:- not worth the price I payed - twin bed = 2 beds put together (it splits at each move you make..great fun ;/ )
Review 126:- location
Review 127:The reception with very warm staff, everybody there could speak english, also the price very good!
Review 128:the bed are not the best
Review 129:the hotes are friendly
Review 130:There is no safe box inside the rooms!
Review 131:No heater while it was a bit cold in September
Review 132:It was generally fine
The Fine Print
Free parking is available in front of the hotel for 2.5 hours. Unrestricted free parking is also available 450 feet from the hotel.
