Reviews for Hôtel de la Couronne
Review 1:The restaurant was stuffy and the staff there weren't very inviting. The room wasn't as clean as I had hoped it would be.
Review 2:The view from our room was awesome and the location was great. The hotel staff were awesome!
Review 3:The pictures of the room drive to believe is kind of a boutique hotel. Once there, room design is very standard, but the room with a view on the lake is very nice. Choice of restaurants is very large in the area at a walking distance, but the prices are really high end.
Review 4:Very nice breakfast and the view is stunning. Perfect location for tourism, wineyard, cycling and running Car Park is also usefull
Review 5:The decor, especial oaky carpets, very dated and tired (other than in the lobby). The fire alarm in the middle of the night (not the first time it had gone off during the week apparently) ....but glad it worked I suppose in case of a real fire!
Review 6:Not too far a walk to the bus stops/lifts. Conveniently situated close the many good restaurants (directly opposite The Office) and the supermarket. Breakfast was good though more expensive than other hotels in the valley (but little other choice at the times we wanted to start the day).
Review 7:Very loud music playing from the bar(s) opposite the hotel until late in the night. Argentiere really must make a choice: either the hotels on the Main Street or the bars but not both.
Review 8:Decent breakfast - although the previous day's croissants and pain au chocolats reveal a pretty lazy and complacent touch by the owners. Perfectly friendly staff.
Review 9:I was travelling alone with my two young daughters (4 and 6) for their first skiing trip. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and caring. The room was cleaned everyday and the hotel is in the centre of Argentierre and only a few minutes away from both Grand Montet and La Tour. Amazing value for money and a great hotel.
Review 10:I don't usually complain, but this was the worst hotel we've been to in all of Europe. We had to resign into wifi every time I used our phones. There was some unidentified brown spot on the ceiling that could have been any number of gross things. There was no curtain on the shower, resulting in a pool in the bathroom no matter how hard we tried. The parking lot is SMALL. The front desk clerk skipped me when I was trying to check out with no apology. There was a table and chairs with gross fabric taking up 50% of our small room. We loved Chamonix and Argentiere, but we will NEVER stay here again.
Review 11:Location is good for Les Grandes Montets.
Review 12:Everywhere smelt of urine and fish. Maybe time to change the carpet.
Review 13:Separate sleeping areas for families. Close to cable car, restaurants and supermarket.
Review 14:Location right in the heart of Argentiere. Room had great view of Mont Blanc
Review 15:Located directly across street from bar with dancing/loud music
Review 16:Location relative to town center. Attached restaurant was very nice with good food
Review 17:Having to always login into wifi each time open phone
Review 18:Fire alarm going off twice in a 4 day stay at 3:45am and 1:45am respectively. Thankfully no fire but disturbed sleep due to having to evacuate.
Review 19:Front rooms are get noise from bars across the street
Review 20:Good location
Review 21:Great location Close to ski lift Close to train station Good price Good size rooms Nice views
Review 22:The staff were the most friendly and helpful we had on our trip. The breakfast was superb.
Review 23:Expensive breakfast for what you get
Review 24:Excellent room and service
Review 25:Noisy road
Review 26:Nice room. Comfy. Clean.
Review 27:They charged us ~10E more, than price in the booking.com which we realized too late to complain.
Review 28:I was very pleased with the personal atmosphere and a very friendlygreeting at my visit, I immediately felt "at home". The hotelis situated in an excellent location in the centre of the, albeit small, village and close to a fine restaurant. The room was excellent with anice view of Mt Blanc. Did'nt try the breakfast since I had to leavevery early so can't say anything about that.
Review 29:Wifi sucked. You must keep logging in every few minutes. The login process doesn't even work. The staff had to show me a work around. You will probably be there to ski, but if you have some work projects to keep up with it will be a hellish nightmare.
Review 30:Right in the middle of Argentierre. Stately old building.
Review 31:not that keen on the patterned curtains/bedspread, but that is a very small point.
Review 32:Good location for Grands Montets, and nice and close to local shops, pub etc. Vey nice reception staff, good free internet, everything worked as it was supposed to. comfortable bed.
Review 33:The bathroom was a little bit cold, as no heater was installed in it. The storage room for skies and boots was located outside the hotel.
Review 34:Great staff, fantastic french cuisine in the attached restaurant, confortable bed. The breakfast was sufficiently various and as expected for the location. The main ski resort of Chamonix, Les Grands Montets, is at just 5-10 minutes of walking. I really liked the separate toilette from the bathroom :).
Review 35:The room I stayed in probably needs refurbishing but nonetheless it was good value for money and I would stay here again
Review 36:Staff were very helpful and friendly. It was only 10 mins walk from slopes and opposite a decent bar.
Review 37:The bedroom was very cold even with the heating on full. The mattress was so old that there was no spring in it at all. The bed covers were dirty. The bed linen didn't smell fresh. The shower leaked and the drain was blocked. The receptionist was not impressed when I told her the shower drain was blocked and nothing was done about it.
Review 38:There were no facilities to get a drink of any kind during the day. A cup of coffee/tea would have been very welcome when we got back to the hotel late afternoon. The porcelain soap dish on the wall of our shower had been smashed and was very jagged & dangerous. We reported this to reception but nothing was done about it whilst we were staying there.
Review 39:The view of the mountains from our room. Comfortable beds. Always had enough hot water for showers. Free wifi was very useful.
Review 40:No jacuzzi... But what do you expect at this price.... Joking apart it is very good value for money and you should check it out.
Review 41:Great size family room, great location at the right price point. I will return.
Review 42:The office bar opposite can be a bit noisy late at night
Review 43:Great drying room, good breakfast very handy for Grands Montets and buses to Chamonix, friendly staff.
Review 44:Hard pillows! Breakfast is pricey if you only want to have coffee and croissant-type meal.
Review 45:Very pleasant staff, comfortable bed and room, excellent location and good value at price booked on website. Vastly improved since my previous stay some years ago.
Review 46:Wifi quiet slow but not a big deal for a weekend stay The hotel is in front of a pub which was quiet noisy on a Saturday night!
Review 47:Location is good although very close to the main street (but not so busy), very close to Chamonix and the 'Col de Balm' ski area which is amazing! Stuff is very efficient and friendly Rooms and bed are quiet comfortable although the building is not so recent
Review 48:We LOVED this hotel! This hotel offered not only a fabulous view of Mont Blanc but the most comortable bed, pillows and down comforters we have ever experienced in Europe! The staff was very kind and friendly and spoke English which was of great help as my French is out of practice. The restaurant downstairs offered an OUSTANDING, DELICIOUS dinner. The parking lot adjacent to the lift to the summit in Chamonix was a mere 10-minute drive from the hotel. A lovely memory.
Review 49:The helpfulness of the lady on the front desk. Smiles on arrival are so good to receive ! Sometimes the initial contact by phone can be crucial. In this ladies' case she was so helpful and reassuring and allayed all our last minute booking anxieties !
Review 50:This is a lovely hotel. 9.9 out of 10! If I have to mention something it would be lack of shower curtain in the bathroom, but a wet bathroom did not detract from our stay in any way.
Review 51:Very friendly staff, great location (close to car parks, train station, mountain lift system etc). Comfortable room with a lot of space for our luggage which was complete with coffee table and chairs (as well as all the 'usual' fittings).
Review 52:Best value for money. Hotel service was impeccable, clean and very efficient. Also were very helpful in reaching the hotel, due to my car breakdown in the vicinity.
Review 53:the location is not interesting in summer time , the hotel is on the main road, bath room is not in perfect conditions and the breakfast is very expensive
Review 54:very good wifi connection
Review 55:Rather dingy. Unpleasant smell. Faucet in bathroom very loose. Everything could use updating. But that's why it's cheap.
Review 56:Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably priced. Great view and sunlight from our room. Nice restaurant.
Review 57:Radiators old and valves not working to regulate the temperature inorder to dry the wet skiing clothes. No shower curtain in the bathroomso when you have a shower all the water bouncing of your body ends up onthe floor and you have to mop the floor with the towels!! As there is nodrain in the floor.
Review 58:Staff very affable and helpful, comfortable bed-room
Review 59:Room 1 was a spacious family room but the bathroom could do with an update. Having said that, the shower and the heating system worked perfectly well. So, only a very minor criticism.
Review 60:Extremely welcoming and helpful staff. They even sourced a ice pack for my injured thumb. They also provided us with changing facilities after we had checked out which allowed us to fit in an extra four hours of skiing before heading back to Geneva to catch our flight home. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent (guests enjoy a welcome 10% discount on food and wine!) and breakfast was superb. it reminded us all just how good the French are with food and wine. There is plenty of free parking nearby and you can load/unload in a bay next to the entrance to the hotel without too much difficulty. Again, the staff were very helpful.
Review 61:The only issues were: floors creaked (someone needs to go through thebuilding with a drill and screws); walls are a little thin, but most ofthat issue would be taken care of by eliminating the squeaky floors; andthere was not shower curtain in the bath (everything would get wet fromtaking a shower - the front desk was surprised there was no showercurtain when we mentioned it at check-out, but isn't a missing onepretty obvious?).
Review 62:Comfortable bed and room, nice size and views. Staff were veryaccommodating with a quick and usually positive response to allrequests. Would definitely stay again if issues (see below) were takencare of and might even if they were not.
Review 63:Slight slight challenge with the water being alot hotter in the morning than in the evening when I so wanted a hot bath after a day on the slopes.
Review 64:Very warm welcome - Great friendly and helpful staff!! Great location - either short walk or drive to the ski slopes depending on where you choose to ski. Also very close to a handful of bars/restaurants Very peaceful - not a noisy hotel (despite being on the main road through Argentiere) Spacious rooms. Easy to park
Review 65:The toilet room is attached to the bathroom and is extremely cold!
Review 66:Really helpful staff in front desk. On our last day let is store ourbags and then use a shower (straight off the slopes!) before we left inthe evening. Boot and ski room are good - padlocks provided by hotel. Westayed in the family room. The bathroom suite was slightly old, butperfectly good to use.
Review 67:Our only complaint is that the toilet in room 28 is freezing cold, really very very cold. The bathroom itself is as a result also a littlecool. It would be nice to have a small heater in both rooms, maybe justa heated towel rail would do
Review 68:We have stayed at the Couronne on and off since 1985. Each time we comeit has undergone a transformation. Now it is really very nice, friendly, informal, cosy and with character. Room 28 is especially nice. Thebreakfast is excellent and the bar and attached restaurant veryconvenient and friendly. We will return.
Review 69:Good sized triple rooms
Review 70:No kettle in room which should be standard.
Review 71:Staff were very helpful.
Review 72:Staff were friendly and very helpful
Review 73:Friendly accomodating staff Clean Convenient
Review 74:Room slightly tired, but otherwise everything fine
Review 75:First class service. Nothing too much trouble, especially reception staff
Review 76:Paperthin walls and doors. Expensive Hard pillows, like huge bricks
Review 77:Clean sheets
Review 78:Very poor and unfriendly service
Review 79:Very close to lift
Review 80:Room was noisey on a night until early hours due to bar across street.
Review 81:Friendly staff, hotel clean and comfrotable. Nice village with good atmosphere.
Review 82:The hallways need updating.
Review 83:Fiendly staff with upscale restaurant on site with discount for hotelguests. Centrally located at Argentiere.
Review 84:Noisy, as the hotel is located directly at the main road...
Review 85:Friendly staff, well equipped and beautiful view from the room
