Reviews for Gold Beach Hotel
Review 1:not keen on having to go down stairs to loo in middle of night in the superior apartment.
Review 2:Friendly staff, clean tidy mini apartments. Actually went upstairs in room to bed.
Review 3:produits in shower room is not a 3 stars hotel level
Review 4:good breakfast, and if you drive for visiting, chosse here, simple and quiet, good for rest and close to the beach of Oyster
Review 5:towel changes are a bit hit n miss. so maybe do as we do and take your own so not a major problem.
Review 6:the rooms are a brilliant design, comfortable and clean. beach view from our room 34, ideally placed for all the d day beaches and surounding area, the staff were brilliant and so helpfull, were planning on visiting again nex year, recomended
Review 7:Bed whilst comfortable was very low. No coffee filters in room however on check out found out they were available to buy at reception.
Review 8:Good location, easily accessible from cherbourg ferry. Good restaurants nearby, friendly helpful staff.
Review 9:big rooms, clean and tidy, huge bed it was like sleeping on a cloud so comfi, great breakfest, excellent location, free parking, free wifi, had a great bugy ride on the beach but the best thing are the people that works there all are happy and eager to help you with everthing, we asked them to help us plan our trip for the day and they gave us the best route and plenty to see. i can go on and on but it is better that you will experience this for yourself. 10 out of 10
Review 10:Nowhere to hang clothes hooks or coathangers would be useful.
Review 11:Everything was excellent they seem to be getting things done. Very happy with our stay and have already booked for next year.
Review 12:My cousins, who were with me, found their room rather too hot. It was a ground floor garden room with back door and no window. There were no fans and when they opened the door for air one night, they had a visit from a frog or toad!
Review 13:Best breakfast of any accommodation we used on our trip.
Review 14:Didn't have breakfast but from what I saw the F1 or Ibis breakfasts are far better for the money.
Review 15:Basic hotel with friendly English spoken staff. Great super king size bed for good nights sleep. Room clean but basic with fridge and two hob small cooker with microwave. No pans. Several restaurants in walking distance. Large car park. less 100 m from beach.
Review 16:Beds are very soft and uncomfortable. Because we were travelling with our dog asked for a room on the ground floor and also rang them to request it. They took no notice of this request. Unsafe knives in the kitchen drawer and we left it out on day one thinking they may get the hint but they put it back in the drawer! We cut our visit short by two days and they didn't even ask what the problem was and still charged us for the rest of the stay. They tried to charge us for breakfasts we did not have.
Review 17:Friendly staff and peaceful location.
Review 18:WiFi had a strong signal, but disconnected very often, bathroom could use a small renovation, but it was not a big problem.
Review 19:conveniently located for a tour of entire Normandy, very well equipped kitchenette, spacious room, on-site parking, friendly staff, some rooms have view of the Mulberry Harbor remains.
Review 20:nothing bad
Review 21:Very friendly check in and checkout even though I had accidently left my key card in the room. The room was perfect for us with self catering and a small lounge/dining room with a bedroom upstairs. Everywhere was clean and comfortable. Will return.
Review 22:The hotel was soo poor in every thing! Some rooms have fish smell, and when we asked the front desk man he said this is our city smell .. the bed was uncomfortable also was so hot in the rooms .. bad service.. and the front desk man when we checked in was soo rode with us !!and their is no one working except him!!was a big mistake to book here! And I don't recommend this hotel to people who comes for relaxing or with family.
Review 23:Nothing! It was a big mistake to book here!!
Review 24:I was disappointed that there was not even one comfortable chair to sit on in the room and I hated to "squishy" mattress cover.
Review 25:It was easy to find and the location was excellent. I would use this hotel again for a "good value" overnight stay.
Review 26:nothing
Review 27:for us everything was fine, good welcome, helpfull staff and friendly, we were cycling and sucure lock up for bikes was good, hotel in good location,
Review 28:Vito and his front desk assistant were great in telling us the must sees in the area and taking care of everything. I even asked Vito to change the weather and within 2 hours the sun came out. Now that's service
Review 29:The staff on arrival were very welcoming and informative regarding the facilities and the local area. We were within walking distance of the beach and also some very good restaurants and takeaways.
Review 30:Only minor things: No kettle with Kitchenette. WIFI signal not the strongest. Air conditioning didn't work.
Review 31:Good clean spacious room with outside space. Small table and two chairs.
Review 32:Did'nt particularly like the immediate village. A courtesy minibus into Aramonche would be good.
Review 33:Very good and helpful management/staff, and good clean hotel.
Review 34:Staff when we arrived were polite and helpful. The room was better than expected, kitchen area was clean and well stocked. The bed was comfortable with clean crisp white sheets. good value for money
Review 35:We were unlucky to be there on the hottest day of the year and the rooms got really hot and the air conditioning didn't seem to work. Bed was very creaky too.
Review 36:Staff on reception were really friendly and excited to see a travelling pet rabbit! Location was fantastic for exploring the normandy beaches. Amazing meal over the road at LA CALE restaurant
Review 37:I went in with not much expectations and I got what I expected from this hotel. Overall things were just okay. We tried to cook but the stovetop didn't work, and found out they unplugged it so they can charge $10/day for using the kitchen. We tried to eat at the table but only had 2 chairs (in a family room for 4). Went to the front desk and they told me to use the sofa. What?!
Review 38:It was available for booking at decent price at the last minute. Great free wifi.
Review 39:Dead site even at the beginning of the season (poor restaurant, no food shop)
Review 40:Quiet location, starting point for trips to other places at Normandy invasion sites
Review 41:Lack of personal temperature control. Lack of advertised Internet.
Review 42:The property is very well situated, and the units are comfortable. The management seems to be sabotaging himself. The superior doubles are upstairs, there's an elevator-but it doesn't work. A/C is advertised, but management takes sole decision making on when it will be available. We were told it wasn't hot enough yet. I would have loved using the fan at least. Wi-Fi is advertised but one PC couldn't get any network connection options and we had to use the lobby for anything that wouldn't crash mid operation on other devices. If not for the managers interference, control and lack of attending to fixes the place would be much better off.
Review 43:For some reason my IPhone was unable to connect to their Wi-Fi. Honestly this is the only negative thing I can say regarding my stay here.
Review 44:Hotel ran by a young couple who goes out of their way to help ensure your stay is enjoyable. Well situated along Gold Beach with easy access to the surrounding sites.
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:Everything was excellent. The two gentlemen running the hotel were excellent hosts. The breakfast was one of the best for choice that we have ever had. We stayed in a superior double which was en suite with it's own kitchen and dining area. The bedroom was on the mezzanine level. We will certainly be returning to the hotel.
Review 47:Wi-fi didn't work in room the first evening but that was solved quickly.
Review 48:We arrived for 2 days to see the Normandy beaches - had a very warm welcome. The manager phoned the restaurant across the road to see if we could take our dog with us. Although not part for the hotel, the restaurant was good too. Booked superior room so had mezzanine bedroom which meant more space.
Review 49:The rooms were very plain . No pictures or decor of any kind. The table and two chairs on our patio were very dirty. When I asked for someone to clean them I was told it was not their responsibility and to buy our own cleaning supplies. I would have expected that if housekeeping cleaned the rooms they would clean the table and chairs as well.
Review 50:We liked the location. We were between Coursuielle ser Mer and Arromanche and had easy access to the beach and the invasion beaches, memorials and 15 minutes from Bayeux. The staff were wonderful and helpful. Good parking, wifi were important to us. Kitchen facilities were adequate for our needs.
Review 51:We had an upstairs apartment, there was a sofa bed which we used as a sofa and the single beds upstairs were small, almost like camp beds, bigger single beds would have been nice.
Review 52:Lovely accommodation, well kept. Very central for the DDay museums and beaches. Lovely restaurant across the road and lots of restaurants in the nearby town of Arromamanches which is a 5 minute drive. The staff also work hard to make sure everything is right for you.
Review 53:We had reserved a room with a bath but were given only a shower as we had our dog with us and had to have a suitable room for her apparently. Wi-Fi not very reliable. Breakfast expensive
Review 54:Location and price
Review 55:No really bad experiences but it would be nice to have basic fittings in the bathroom like hooks for towels and a holder for the toilet roll
Review 56:Super friendly and very welcoming staff. Clean rooms. Proximity to D-day locations make this a suitable base for exploring the area
Review 57:Rooms smaller than website appears. Not the sea view we'd hoped for. Wifi only seemed to operate at reception.
Review 58:Friendly helpful staff very good breakfast.
Review 59:Hotel was booked for the weekend, so made the internet slow, but we didn't spend much time in the room, so not a HUGE deal. Breakfast was €10 per person, per day-kind of pricey! Happy we brought our own pack-n-play or that would have been extra as well.
Review 60:Great location on Gold Beach which made it nice driving to Utah & Omaha Beaches, and a block from Gold Beach. Comfortable room w/kitchenette. Bed was upstairs in the room which made it nice to put our toddler to bed before us.
Review 61:A niggle was the sofa bed instead of an actual bed. I understand the use of space idea, but would have rather been a little more comfortable. However, for as sofa bed, it was pretty good!
Review 62:Staff were lovely. Room was clean and well equipped and the shower was brilliant.
Review 63:The wifi was slow to non-existent but we were on vacation so it was nice to disconnect.
Review 64:The hotel was very clean, friendly and welcoming staff. The best were comfortable. The hotel was 1 block from Gold Beach and within an easy drive from the other D-Day Beaches, WWII sights as well as Caen and Bayeaux. Free parking. Fully stocked kitchenette and the staff does the dishes.
Review 65:We didn't like that the wi-fi was quite patchy, especailly during the evenings. This could become a problem if you were working and didn't back up regularly as the internet could drop out at any time for a few minutes to a few hours!
Review 66:We loved the location, especially for the D-Day landing sites. Marco at reception really couldn't do enough for us! All of the staff were very friendly and if there was anything we needed they were more than willing to help us.
Review 67:Pretty much everything else. The bed is literally a pull out couch, our fridge smelled bad enough to make us gag and on our last morning, the bathroom door closed and locked my wife and I in for 20 min before we could finally get out. The internet is effectively useless and one of the two reception guys told me "it works for me, I don't know what the problem is", despite that fact that we couldn't connect with 2 Iphones and Ipad, a PC laptop and a Samsung tablet.
Review 68:It is close to Gold beach and there is a wonderful restaurant across the street
Review 69:I am being very picky when I say this, but no corkscrew for wine and wifi faded as I was far from reception, BUT this was resolved while I was there they installed a new router.
Review 70:Exploring the D-Day landing sites it's great, right in the middle of all of them. Great staff, made you feel at home and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 71:The wifi doesn't work properly.
Review 72:The room is spacious, the kitchen has all that you need, the workers are really nice, you have the beach so near, we are really happy to have chosen this hotel.
Review 73:As many have said before, the beds (actually, the sofa beds, there are no proper beds) are unbelievably uncomfortable. This is really unfortunate as it's really the only downside of the place. I would almost recommend bringing your own camping mattress to put on the floor.
Review 74:- Clean, well maintained, rooms are in great condition - Nice size (family room) - Very good breakfast - Friendly and efficient staff - Great location, not far from the D-Day beaches and attractions
Review 75:Problem with Internet, but I understand it was just unfortunate timing for us.
Review 76:The staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodation was better than expected, and price was great
Review 77:Bed is a sofa bed not an issue but not as comfortable as a real bef
Review 78:Lovely hotel manager, very helpful, clean comfortable. Small kitchenette was great. Small village be lovely.
Review 79:We had one amazing time in Normandy. Great area to search museums and D-Day beaches. We really enjoyed its.
Review 80:Very poor kitchen requirements. No wash up liquid or tea towel.

Review 108:The location and specially the hosts were perfect. They really took great care of us.
Review 109:Very small kitchen. Expensive breakfast. 10 euro per person is too much
