Reviews for La Lune De Mougins - Hotel & Spa
Review 1:Not walkably close to commerce (need a car to drive to off-premise meals), which is inconvenient if one opts out of the 17-euro p.p. breakfast.
Review 2:Lovely grounds within 5 minutes' drive of the old villages of Mougins and Valbonne. Good base for exploring this area of Provence. Based on others' reviews of the inn's restaurant issues & prices & our own observations, we ate elsewhere. Small but very comfortable and clean room.
Review 3:we traveling with a cat and hotel give as room with out the "closer windows" and airconditionair was turned on warm...so we can't open a window (cat will be going out)and we can't turn air-condition on for cold-so in room was like 45 C...we was only room without closer windows
Review 4:spa,excellent marocain restaurant just next door the hotel
Review 5:The mâitre d in the restaurant serving needs to be more friendly and smile, he makes you feel uncomfortable, which is a shame as all the other staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant food is excellent, Compliments to the chef! Checking out was even a great experience, lovely lady who offered us a free coffee and pastries before we headed off on our journey.
Review 6:The welcome was warm and friendly and first impressions were good.Lovely terrace where we enjoyed an apero before our meal, the food was superb 5/5 . Room was clean and nicely decorated, overall fabulous time, it felt more than a 3 star experience.
Review 7:We were welcomed warmly at reception by Fabienne,a credit to the Hotel!. The suite we were allocated was first class! All staff were extremely helpful and friendly Food excellent!
Review 8:The separate toilet was in a "closet" across the hall from the bathroom and it smelled of urine (even after the daily cleaning).
Review 9:The common areas were nice.
Review 10:The service at dinner was slow and forgetful. Menu limited and didn't change. Very expensive. We gave up and ate elsewhere
Review 11:Excellent location for exploring the Côte d'Azur. Room and pool lovely. Helpful advice given for exploring area. Food superb (but also see negative comments)
Review 12:too close to the road , small room, when possible things cost ( felt like gready), no elevator very heavy to carry your luggage, air conditioning could work better
Review 13:poolarea
Review 14:Mougins is a nice village but make no mistake, you are not close to it if you are going out in evening wear. The hotel does not offer a shuttle either and a taxi will cost upwards of 15€ daytime and €25 at night. Having also stayed at Le Mas Candille, it is probably an unfair comparison but the hotel seems overpriced for the quality. The hotel has an air of a holiday camp with one end of the corridor being open air ( they do have surveillance cameras though). We arrived after a small storm and the pool was full of debris and insects and no one seemed in a hurry to clean it. The same could be said for the next morning. Drinks were served by friendly staff but in plastic glasses ( wine and champagne) yet beer in glass. The worst has to be the smell of damp in 208. We put this down to the artificial grass carpet they have on the balconies which ph were wet but it could also have been from the drains in the shower rooms.
Review 15:The hotel had been renovated and the furnishings are pleasant and stylish. However, this is a veneer. The old building itself has not been renovated, walls are dirty, doors are old, skirting are unclean. Staff were, however, friendly and helpful. Parking is ample. Bathroom was large and the shower was good.
Review 16:We had appallingly slow service when we had dinner there the first night. We booked a table for 8pm, we had to ASK to go and sit down at 9.30, the meal was poor, and we left with no dessert at about 11.15pm. The air conditioning did not work for any of our party of 14, therefore uncomfortable at night.
Review 17:The pool was lovely, the pastries at breakfast were fresh.
Review 18:Two ladies at the reception, one totally asleep, so useless...the other so arrogant and unpolite, doesn't help you for nothing and charges you even for the air you breath! The hotel is a bit far from the village..
Review 19:Mougin is very nice, the hotel is lovely..
Review 20:The dinner. Definitely the worst part of our whole trip. Extremely overpriced, tasteless, poorly presented, served by a drunk waiter. We almost never complain about our food but when we did this time all the waiter could say was : ok, then it's not for you. seriously??? This place needs big improvements in their kitchen and working staff.
Review 21:Hotel itself is very nice, beautifuly decorated and clean. Spa is amazing and ads big value to the place.
Review 22:Appalling customer service from both staff and management. Customer always wrong here even though the problems were genuine. We've travelled extensively for 30 years but this is one of the worst hotels we've stayed at.The hotel called Booking.com and thanks to them we escaped without too much financial damage.
Review 23:Very expensive but good dinner. €120 for 2 people including 2 glasses of wine.
Review 24:Staff was arrogant, not very professional and argued with me over the final bill. They said that they delivered room service to the room and that I had to pay for it because they knocked on the door 3 times and left the breakfast in front of the door. Only problem was that they were an hour late!
Review 25:Bed was great, room was great and the the hotel is very clean.
Review 26:They had a party in the evening and the music made it impossible to sleep till 02h00 in the morning. they did excuse but did not assume by making any effort on the room price which I found was the min I had expected. Possibly they thought I would not come back ???
Review 27:Insulation could be improved to reduce noise. Floor is PVC which transports sound. Heard the noise of small child in the room further down the corridor...
Review 28:Staff is very friendly, even Shuttle-Service provided by Hotel Owner! Great Location with Swimming pool, would be worth a holiday and not only business travel.
Review 29:Doubtful sense of humor (non white customers, joked at in a doubtful manner) at the reception
Review 30:Location, facilities, quietness, cleanliness, beautiful and a generally friendly atmosphere
Review 31:price but we did go in peak season and location was a ten minute drive from the centre of Mougin
Review 32:Charming room; comfortable and spacious with lovely decor; staff friendly and attentive.
Review 33:Total lack of any English literature. Waiters and bar staff with no English spoken word. Business meetings by the pool and by the restaurant while people trying to chill and relax
Review 34:The jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and pool were amazing
Review 35:My inability to communicate clearly in French.
Review 36:Lovely room. Clean. Good food for dinner and breakfast Staff helpful Wi-fi connectivity
Review 37:Really pleasant and the food at the restaurant is excellent.
Review 38:The location is excellent We were surprised at the quality of the food The service was friendly The room are not luxurious but clean
Review 39:Amazing lunch, great outdoor pool, and modern spa area. Staff were very helpful, good bar, and nice building/furnishings.
Review 40:Private Spa retreat with outdoor swimming pool
Review 41:Liked the swimming pool
Review 42:Location and choice of food not as good as previously, breakfast especially.
Review 43:Rooms and pool area
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:Nicely decorated hotel Nice building Nice people Nice balcony Finally a hotel where the housekeeping can clean the room in the afternoon
Review 46:What a superplace. Great price performance so close to Cannes. Very nice pool. Extreme friendly lady who helped us.
Review 47:Unable to get any WiFi connect. Hotel did not have adequate capacity
Review 48:Location close to Mougins
Review 49:Pool closed despite 25 deg temperatures No food served at lunch time...
Review 50:Stylish hotel with nice rooms Great treatments in the spa Good food
Review 51:Free wifi connection was working poorly
Review 52:Well decorated, modern and with very good spa facilities (sauna, hammam, jacuzzi)
Review 53:Bed was a little hard
Review 54:Liked the spa,the room, and breakfast area, staff was great and food was good
Review 55:unable to adjust the heating (too hot)
Review 56:the friendly staff, the overall decoration of the hotel, would have liked to have time to explore the spa
Review 57:Great staff and cozy SPA.
Review 58:Terribly slow wi-fi. Bathrooms need upgrading. Front desk personnel not very friendly nor helpful at check out.
Review 59:Free parking
Review 60:Wifi a little unpredictable
Review 61:Spa was very good, decor tasteful and beds very comfty
Review 62:We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at La Lune De Mougins for two nights. Our room was comfortable and quite spacious, and outside surrounds were very spacious and relaxing. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Meals, both breakfast and dinner were excellent, offering considerable variety in the menu.
Review 63:Not Applicable
Review 64:This is an excellent hotel - the rooms, facilities, bar, lounge, poolside, spa and the food is exceptional. I would stay here again when returning to the region. Very highly recommended.
Review 65:Personally this didn't bother us too much, but if you're very sensible towards noise, the walls are rather thin. Also you can hear quite a bit of car traffic due to the location of the property.
Review 66:We loved our balcony and the fact that you had tea and coffee maker in your room at your disposal. So we simply had our own little breakfast out there as we thought breakfast for 12eur/pers. for the buffet sounded a bit pricey. But who knows, maybe the buffet was excellent.we never found out ;) The bed was very comfortable to sleep in. Beautiful property, good with parking facility. All in all good choice if you have a car and want rather quick access to Cannes.
Review 67:Minor point - the entrance driveway could benefit from re-surfacing.
Review 68:Up-graded to a suite at no additional cost. Good selection at breakfast. Evening meal was really enjoyable.
Review 69:Rather low-speed internet. Location outside walking distance to Mougins.
Review 70:Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely terrace outside Suite 1. Comfortable SPA, rest area and bar. Good atmosphere.
Review 71:Nowhere to go for a walk. The hotel is in a residential area, but there is a lot of traffic and "Private, keep off"-signs everywhere. There is a forest near by, but that is also private, with access strictly forbidden and warning of aggressive dogs, all very un-welcoming. The swimming-pool was closed despite warm weather. The restaurant was mediocre.
Review 72:A warm atmosphere. All staff was friendly, and with one exception very professional and efficient. The spa was OK. Nice room, it is a good idea to have bath and WC separate. Great little terrace.
Review 73:We could only stay 3 days as we had a schedule to adhere to!
Review 74:The staff, from reception, dining, bar and gardeners were absolutely delightful, (especially Matilda), the breakfast and dinner meals were fantastic.
Review 75:Must have a car & good GPS to get to this hotel, location is not easy to find. Toilet is located at a very odd place in the room, and didn't have enough light and ventilation. The Hall way is very dim, and has a weird smell.
Review 76:Isolated position outside any town or village. No other restaurants nearby, nowhere pleasant for an evening stroll. Pool next to a busy road, only separated by a hedge so noisy.
Review 77:Clean, well run, quiet at night, good food, pool and spa included in price, free parking. Well placed to get to nearby towns (Cannes,Valbonne, Mougin), and the pre-Alps.
Review 78:The rooms are quite old and have signs of many years of wear and tear, the food in the restaurant for the evening meal was very disappointing, not a very friendly or helpful waiter, didnt enjoy the meals at all. Perhaps they need a real chef for the price.
Review 79:The staff were great, the room was lovely, romantic and had a lovely terrace with french doors leading to a view of the gardens and pool. Very lovely bed with beautiful linen. Very quite and just a short drive to the village of Valbonne, lovely.
Review 80:Brilliant hotel, excellent value for money and staff were fantastic. Recently refurbished so facilities were amazing and modern. Great location for exploring Mougins, Cannes and Antibes.
Review 81:Lights in the bedrooms were a little dim, but this is really a very minor imperfection, the place is great.
Review 82:Very friendly staff, great body lotion. The room has a shelf with books suitable for reading during the staying.
Review 83:Sheets are not available in sauna and during our stay we had the same bathrobe (3x).
Review 84:Very nicely furnished hotel and room. We got a room with extra large king size bed. Hotel's staff were very professional and pleasant.
Review 85:Difficulty in finding car parks when returning early evening, probably because of visitors using the spa.
Review 86:The location was good as although out of the main resorts it was close enough to reach them with easy drives. The staff were friendly and always very helpful
Review 87:Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms, nice design, good service. Location is good - 15-20 minutes if you need to be in Cannes. Would highly recommend for both holidays and business.
Review 88:The lighting is poor, the decor is too grey and combined with low energy bulbs that do not light properly and not enough light fittings can be depressing, specifically in the bedrooms.
Review 89:The staff is very welcoming, the bar is homely
Review 90:No much things to mention here. If we had to mention something it would be the breakfast which is very good but it's a bit overpriced for €12 per person per day. Close by there are supermarkets and with €24 we bought so many items that we had breakfast for the whole week. On another note, about 5 mins away from the hotel there's a restaurant called La Toscana. It has nothing to do with the hotel but most probably many customers would stop for dinner there as it's in a very prominent position. Avoid it. We had dinner twice there and the second time was a nightmare for me as I ended up with a bad food poisoning which forced me not to eat anything for 4 days!
Review 91:It was an amazing one week stay! The staff was very helpful and they always assisted us with all our needs. To add more value almost all of them speak English fluently. They also recommended some very nice places in the area. The hotel lights are kept very dim and this created an incredible relaxing atmosphere from the very moment we stepped inside the reception. The pool situated in the basement is really nice and clean. Food was great. The area is very nice and it's just 20 minutes drive away from the hustle and bustle atmosphere of Cannes. We recommend this hotel without hesitation and will surely choose to stay here should we ever decide to visit the Cote D'Azure once again in the future.

Review 110:too close to the road, breakfast room
Review 111:the location, the new furniture, friendly staff
Review 112:Very accommodating, professional staff. It has the feel of a small hotel with large hotel service. Great for busy business travelers.
